Scene #955: Neuroi Attack 11/10

Evangeline	Late in the day on Strike Earth. The Strike Witches are all deployed. So...the base is not expecting it when an enemy Neuroi signal is detected. The only combat unit on the base is Neuroi Girl. Which may be why this was the time chosen to attack. A single Neuroi, a large type, is headed right toward the base. It is not fast as far as Neuroi go, but it is very big, at least the size of a typical starship, and its armor looks very thick. As the only military asset in the area, Neuroi Girl deploys to face the giant Neuroi. She flies out over the water to face it, already building energy in her forearms and firing on the attacker. But, even she may not be enough to handle it on her own...
Fayt Ravus	As luck would have it, there's a airship in the area as the Neuroi signal pops up. It's a freighter, and it has the image of a black dragon curled around a shipping crate on either side of it. As soon as the neurio pops into view, the ship starts to pick up speed, pushing he engines as it heads towards base. At the same time, a figure can be seen jumping of the side of the ship. It's Fayt, wearing what appears to be a harness with a pair of blue and green wings coming out of it's back. "Keep moving, I'll see what I can do to hold it off!" That said, Fayt turns around and turns to fly towards the Neuroi. "Oh gods don't let this be the death of me..."
Evangeline	The large Neuroi notices Fayt flying toward it, and the red panels along its back and underside start to glow brightly as its many wings flap up and down rhythmically, moving it steadily forward. The glowing increases, and suddenly Fayt would find himself the target of multiple broad beams of deadly red energy. As that is happening, Neuroi Girl is closing in on Fayt and the Neuroi. "...Fayt...what are you doing here...?" she says once she recognizes him. She moves in quickly to try and divert some of the Neuroi beam fire from Fayt.
Fayt Ravus	"Huh?" Fayt turns his head ot the side as he notices Neuroi Girl. "I have a ship out here! We we're making a supply drop and-" he's suddenly cut off as a beam burns through his shoulder, causing him to cry out. "Fight now, talk later, excuse me!" Fayt turns around, wings flapping as he holds his staff out in front of him, The staff twisting about in his hands as he says calmly. "Fire bolt." A small bolt of fire flies from Fayt's Staff, flying for the larg Neuroi.
Evangeline	Neuroi Girl nods at the response as her shields flare to disperse the attack. As Fayt's firebolt hits, the enemy Neuroi's armor shatters at the impact zone, but it quickly reforms, leaving little to no trace of an attack. It charges its weapons again and this time fires on both Fayt and Evangeline. Powerful red beams attempt to engulf both fighters. Neuroi Girl's shield flares again, blue hexagons forming to block the energy. Then, Evangeline presses her own attack, firing twin beams of energy that cut into the enemy Neuroi and cause it to release a metallic shriek before it banks to protect the damaged area so it can regenerate.
Fayt Ravus	Fayt unfortunatly, doesn't have any real defense, at least against Neuroi beams, and he's not much of a flier. so it comes as no surprise when a Beam takes out Fayt's side, the pale mage twisting himself to the side quickly enough to avoid losing a limb or worse yet, his wing. "GAH!" Wincing as he checks he burns along his side, Fayt once again takes aim with his staff. "Shock bolt. Turn." This time Fayt fires a small bolt of electircy, which turns to try and hit the spot NG jsut hit. At the same time... There's a weird buzzing sound, and sulticolored electricty starts to dance around Fayt's head, not a lot, just enought to be noticable.
Evangeline	Evangeline sees Fayt get hit and realizes his defenses don't seem to be strong, so she flies back in to serve as his cover. "...Fayt..." she says in her usual voice, though her movements are much more frantic and worried than her voice would suggest. "...are you alright...?" she asks as she uses herself as a shield. This saves Fayt from being hit again, but at the same time, blocking the full force of all of the enemy's attack leaves her drained. "...it is strong..." Evangeline says as she holds off the attack. "...I will try to cover you..." It doesn't look like that will be easy, though. The huge Neuroi is moving right toward them.
Fayt Ravus	Fayt frowns as the Neuroi takes aim again, wings beating faster as he tries to moveo ut of the way. Then NG suddenly dives in front of him. "GAH!" Fayt stares at Ng, looking ore than a tad stunned. "I um... y-yeah, I'll be fine. D-don't worry!" He winces a bit as he says that. "R-right! Just... don't get yourself hurt for my sake, alright?" Snapping out of it, Fayt once again takes aim. "Fire bolt." Twisting around in a way that quite frankly shouldn't be physically possible, Fayt's staff fires another bolt of flame at the Neuroi.
Evangeline	Evangeline nods. "...I will be alright..." she says as Fayt's shot flies toward the Neuroi. It is hit, but it regenerates so fast that the attack might as well have been nothing. "...we have to hit it harder...or it will just regenerate the damage..." Evangeline says as she flies along with Fayt, firing her own beams at the Neuroi. Even though she scores hits, they too regenerate quickly. "...if we get close to it, it might have trouble hitting us..." she says, but doesn't make a move to close in yet. "...but...up close...the hits will be stronger..." she warns as she keeps firing. The enemy is also firing, and with Neuroi Girl actually attacking, it is harder to shield Fayt this time. Those red beams of death race across the sky as the Neuroi closes in on them.
Fayt Ravus	"I've noticed..." Fayt frowns as he looks the large Neuroi over "Hmm... maybe I sho-AHHH!" Fayt's lack of defense shows again, as a beam scrapes across his other side. "R-right then..." Holding out his staff, Fayt says calmly "Misfortune." This time, Fay'ts staff fire off... a coin? A small black coin, which suddenly turns into a small botl of black energy that heads towards the large Neuroi. If it hits... The Neuroi would suddenly find everything getting harder, shot start to lack power, aiming gets difficult, even it's attempts at renegration start ot hit some snags as fayt spell tries to take whatever the Neuroi does, and nudge it towards hte worst outcome possible. In other words? A major run of bad luck.
Evangeline	Evangeline fires a few more times before moving in to serve as Fayt's shield again, giving him a good chance to fire back. "...what does that do...?" Evangeline asks Fayt as his spell flies through the air. The black bolt hits the enemy Neuroi, and the energy crackles over the shell of the large enemy. It appears as though the spell worked, but how well is still to be seen. Evangeline does seem to have an easier time blocking the beams this time around. Her shield doesn't flare quite so much. "...even if we are destroyed...thank you...for coming to help..."
Fayt Ravus	"Probability manipulation." Fayt replies. "It'll try to push whatever it does towards the worst result possible." He winces as Neuroi covers for him again. "You holding out alright? H-hey! We're not dieing here!" Fayt holds his staff out again as it starts to move. "Here, it should have some trouble regenerating now. Let's see if I can make an opening for you. Fireball." With a loud hiss Fayt's staff fires off a large ball of flame at the large Neuroi. Whever it hits, it'll go out in a massive explosion. hopefully this will make an opening NG can work with.
Evangeline	And, work it does! Fayt's attack is more effective than any of the previous hits. It blows a hole right through the large Neuroi, causing it to stop firing for several moments as it tries to regenerate the damage. In the time it takes to regenerate, it is wide open to more attacks. It is just the break they need! Evangeline sees the opening, and charges her attack. She unleashes a single, broad, solid beam of Neuroi energy on the damaged enemy. If it hits, it will punch another large hole in the attacker. "...good job, Fayt..." Evangeline says, turning her head toward him.
Fayt Ravus	"No prob-ACK!" This time a beam burns off part of one of Fayt's wings! fortunatly, it's not a massive amount as the mage is able to keep airborn, though he's obviously struggling a bit. Qucikly, Fayt takes aim again. "Alright, just have to keep it up. fireball." he sends another massive ball of fire at the large Neuroi, trying to aim it at one of the previous holes.
Evangeline	BOOM! Fayt's second attack is just as effective as the first! Even more of the large Neuroi is blasted to dust! Now much of the forward section is gone. A few more good hits should finish it off, if they can hit the core. With the damage too much to easily regenerate, the enemy Neuroi starts firing again with all it has left, trying to take out Evangeline and Fayt before it is destroyed. Evangeline fires again, this time as she races toward the enemy. Closing the distance allows her to make a more powerful attack, and draws the enemy's fire away from Fayt.
Fayt Ravus	There's a small whimper as a shot clips Fayt's leg. "Almost..." Again he holds his staff out. "Explosives seemto work, few more should hopefully do it. Fireball." another ball fo flame is thrown at the giant Neuroi. "I think we've got this!"
Evangeline	Evangeline nods as Fayt voices his confidence. "...you are right..." she says as she keeps firing, despite being clipped a few times herself. One of the beams takes off her leg. She lets out a metallic screech much like the ones the larger Neuroi has been making throughout the battle. But, like the larger Neuroi, she soon regenerates that part of her body. Then, she fires another beam. The hit strikes near the middle of the remaining hull of the enemy, and after the dust clears...there is a bright ruby red light from the hole. "...there...it is the core...you must hit it..." Evangeline says, her own energy still recharging from her last attack.
Fayt Ravus	"Right!" Fayt takes aim, staff twisting in his hands. "Fireball. Turn." one last fireball si shot form Fayt's staff, turning in mid air as it aims for the now exposed core. There's a buzz as more electircy builds around Fay'ts head, then there's a scream. The Neuroi's last dith efforts unfortunatly manage to burn up one of Fayt's arms, and it took most of a wing with it. Fayt's still flying, but he's starting to limp towards one side. and hte whole harness and wing setup fayt has is starting shivver and move on it's own. hopefulyl this ends soon, Fayt might not be airborn for much longer...
Evangeline	The last fireball hits squarely on the core, and it fractures before shattering. The enemy Neuroi lets out one more cry before it too shatters. Within moments it is nothing but a fine silvery powder that sprinkles through the air, shimmering in the sunset. Neuroi Girl flies up to support Fayt as he starts to list to one side, then watches the powder falling. She is completely silent as she watches, and with no features, there is no easy way to tell what she is thinking. "...you did it..." she finally says, then heads back toward the base, supporting Fayt along the way.
