Touta Konoe     The island where Fairyland Hall resides is about ten kilometers off the shore of Neo Tokyo. So when groceries need to be done, it ends up becoming quite the chore for whoever has to go out and take care of it. To which the task falls to a certain Mahou Shoujo who wasn't even indingenous to this universe let alone this city. Though walking around the town probably feels a little different than the Tokyo Mikoto might be familiar with. After all, the year here is almost 2089. Neo Tokyo appears to be a bit of a coastal town due to part of the city submerging into the ocean. What's more no matter where she walks throughout town she can always see the large tower that goes pass the clouds and into the sky and beyond. Though...She's only going to the grocery store so nothing too cool to check out there! At the very least, she's got someone to help her out with! A co-worker who holds a list in his hand,

"Alright...Looks like we gotta replace those chocolates you got, and then we'll have to pick up a few other ingredients. Mikoto while we're here you wanna pick up any snacks for yourself too? Might as well right?"
Sumiko Mikoto looks a bit distant as they walk through Tokyo.  It was different, sure, but there was enough the same that it brought back memories.  Not all of them good, not all of them bad either.  With a sigh, she doesn't respond immediately, until she's asked the question directly.  Shaking awake, she looks towards Touta, "Yeah, I guess so...I should have enough for that."

Mikoto shakes the feeling off and tries and put a smile back on her face.  "Sorry, just...you know, nostalgia.  Not the same, I know, but close enough.  Though it looks far more coastal than I remember.  Also, that building in the center is new."

After a cough, "So what is even ON the list?"
Touta Konoe     Gives her a smile when she makes her mention of familiarity, to which he gives her a pat on the back. He knows she's been through a lot, but that's exactly the reason he's here. That's the reason he offered her a place to stay. To support a friend who needed it, and the smile of this goofy immortal kid tries to show just that. "It's fine, and uh yeah. Apparently a few decades back there was some incident that happened that caused a part of the city to plunge into the water. But uh, don't ask for the specifics I don't have'em. As for the giant building...That's what we call 'The Tower'. It's actual name is the Amano-Mihashira Orbital Elevator. Basically, it's what we use to ship up supplies into space. It's really cool, but a little pricey to get to the top. The history lessons in the boonies weren't that great. Anyway as for the shopping list..."

Touta looks through the list again, "MMmm...Looks like we got eggs, a couple different slices of red meat, couple cuts of chicken, then we gotta see what they got fresh for fish, veggies and then..."

"...Mmmm, we can deal with most of it. Though now that I think about it, since we are in town maybe we should do some Christmas shopping as well."
Sumiko Mikoto returns the smile, a bit more natural.  It's easier when there are friends with you.  "Also you better watch with all the familiar touching, Touta, or else people will confuse me with your girlfriend," She says, with a playful grin.

"Hm, so a basic list...and Christmas shopping huh?  I guess we can, but I'm going to have to make a second trip anyway.  It's not like I can pick up your gift while I'm out here.  I'd ruin the surprise," She says, with a grin.

"Though, I wonder what I am going to get Rean."
Touta Konoe     Touta's glad to see the smile on her face, but the moment she starts teasing him about that stuff, his pat on the back turns into a light punch on the shoulder. The type you'd give to a buddy. "Pleeeeease. Besides, you already got a great boyfriend don't ya? Speaking of, I was told by the others that we should invite Rean over for a Christmas party...Also to ask you where you want the mistletoe to be put up." He asks that with a literal straight face too, it's not even teasing.

Though as the two continue talking about Christmas shopping, he notices a certain road that catches his eye, "Oh, speaking of presents we should check out this block. It's usually where tourists end up checking out but it might have a couple of cool things for us to check out. Speaking of gifts, it's fine if you want to surprise me but what were you thinking of getting Rean and Jeanne?"
Ritsuka Fujimaru After all the action that had gone on in the past week, having some time to just enjoy some peace and quiet isn't such a bad thing. Sure, Jeanne's not the type to usually go for peace nor quiet, and she already has a reputation for preferring the louder sort of anything when it comes to... Everything. A change of pace doesn't hurt once in a while, though, and tonight unfortunately does not appear to be a night for those things.

At least, it might not appear that way when a drunk in a suit staggers rapidly backwards out of a bar a few stores down from Touta's and Mikoto's path. He crashes into a wall and struggles to stand, but slumps back down when a familiar white-haired woman steps out after him, shoots him a challenging grin, then waves off a small throng of office workers that crowd around her briefly.

She's about to come down the road towards the pair, too, when she freezes on spotting them. She stares at them for a moment, does a 180, and starts walking the other way. Her movements are a little unsteady, and her face was slightly flushed even coming out of the bar. Did she even pay before leaving?
Sumiko The punch gets a laugh out of her, and she gives him an even grin again. Turning her head to the streets she smiles a bit more easily.  It's not the same, and she won't be abandoned.  "You're a good man, Touta.  Though you hit like a girl," she says teasingly.

"Hmm...Rean's gift is going to take thought, I think.  I just can't get him something random.  It's gotta come from the heart...even if we're not ever going to be serious, he IS important to me and even a relationship going south won't ruin that.  Not that it is, but you know...the future is crazy like that."

"As for Jeanne...I dunno!  I thought about just seeing if I could buy her a church somewhere to burn down.  She might l-Wait, is that Jeanne?" Mikoto asks, pointing ahead of them.
Touta Konoe     Touta finds himself given another smirk of his own, "Hey, I'll take that as a compliment. Most of the girls I know really know how to dish it out." That's not even a lie, mainly cause most of them have punched him...That's another story though. "As for the gifts, that's fair enough. Honestly, I'm really bad with thinking of gifts to give people sometimes. I have a few ideas in mind but not sure if they'll be good or not. Plus..." He pulls out his phone and scrolls through the list of people he's planning to get gifts for. It's longer than the grocery list right now... "Anyway, I'm sure you two will be fine. If anything you two seem to make a pretty cute coup-" At that point he watches the gentleman stagger out of the bar, and as he does Mikoto points out Jeanne, or at least someone who looks like Jeanne to him.

"Yeah...I think so. Wait...Why is she...Oi! The hell are you doing in there?!" He shouts to the girl who's starting to turn the other way as he starts stomping into the bar to yank this Avenger out of it. He'll probably have to pay a bill...Or see if this bartender even asked for an ID.
Ritsuka Fujimaru Shit they saw her. Maybe if she moves fast, she can still get aw-and Touta's grabbed her. Jeanne lets out a long sigh as she turns around to face him and Mikoto by extension, frowning all the while. "What do you think I'd be doing in a bar? My taxes?"

Yep, she's been drinking. Not a lot, but enough to recognize the smell. The bartender inside is pretending not to notice, although that throng of office workers can still be seen inside whispering to themselves and watching the three from a booth.

"What about you two? If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were getting into some sort of trouble on your own."
Sumiko Mikoto thinks for a moment and sneaks off just enough to wave the barkeep over for a drink.  She orders something fruity.

Turning back, she looks at Jeanne and Touta, "I mean, she's an adult.  If she wants to drink then whatevs," she says, and then points at the guy put out on his ass, "So what happened with him?" she asks curiously.

A pause, "Oh we're going Christmas shopping and then picking up stuff from the Market.  I got put on duty, and then Touta got made to come with me."
Touta Konoe     "I don't wanna hear that from little Miss Trouble, herself! Besides, what kind of girl goes to a bar by herself? You trying to get hit on or something?" That's the immediate response he gives to seeing Jeanne in her...Dishoveled appearence. He's also trying to figure out why she wouldn't just get booze from back on the island. There was plenty of booze back home. "Anyway, it's like Mikoto said. We're in town to lug around groceries and some Christmas stuff..." He starts leaning in closer to Jeanne to get a better look at how drunk she might actually be, and maybe see if it shows on her face. While it's been a while he did occassionally have to take care of drunk blondes. Again, another story for another time.

"So...Are we gonna need to lug you around too? Or you gonna be alright by yoursel- Mikoto..." He catches her try to wave the barkeep down. While he knows she probably wouldn't have an issue with the booze...He can't imagine that it'd be a good show for the barkeep to be given a minor alcohol. But not his place to tell the shopkeep one way or the other.
Ritsuka Fujimaru "See? Even she gets it." Jeanne flashes Mikoto a smirk at that, not trying all that hard to keep Touta's attention off her when she tries to get some drinks for herself. His question has her tapping her chin, still smirking all the while. "And what if I was? It's not like there's anyone out here that'd be brave enough to try."

That, at least, has some vitriol in it. "Spineless bastards around here only want the girls that won't pound them into the dirt, anyway." She starts glancing over towards the booth of workers who quickly look away, then snaps her head towards the exit. "I didn't give you permission to get back up!" She yells at the man outside who appears to have been trying to get back up while Touta was checking on Jeanne's intoxication levels. Indeed, she's a bit sloshed, but she's speaking and moving well enough.

The bartender, meanwhile, shakes his head at Mikoto before holding his hand up in small rectangular shape. Seems like she'll need ID for these fruity drinks!

"I'll be fine walking on my own. Ugh, but if you're already here... Might as well make sure you get back without getting bothered by other idiots."
Sumiko Mikoto pulls out a TOTALLY LEGITIMATE ID that lists her age as twenty-one.  She had to up the age because she is often in America, and they're strange with their ages.  However, TOUTA ruins her fun, causing her to frown and hmph!

"Oh, you're joining us?  Well, that'll be cool," she says and looks towards the guy on the ground.  Then back at Jeanne, "Oh uh...we'll have to talk about boys later," she says helpfully, poor Jeanne is going to have problems being like that.  Unless she gets into a club...

Ok better not let them know she knows a place.
Touta Konoe     Has to ask where Mikoto got that ID from later, and why she never asked if he wanted one or not. But, there's a more pressing matter they need to deal with as well. They got a monster co-worker who's joking about being picked up at a bar so the only appropriate turn of events to save these poor bastards in Touta's head was...

"Mhmm...In that case, guess we'll be the brave ones who pick you up, if only to make sure to keep the rest of these guys from freaking out." With that he offers a hand to her as she stays seated. "You were looking a bit shakey before so make sure you're not falling over yourself on the way up." If she takes the hand, great. If not...He's probably going to still have Mikoto and him stay near her just in case she looks like she's about to flop over. It's a good thing she's short when these kinds of things happen! He'll make sure that the barkeep gets some sort of compensation or tell the guy to put it on a tab for later before they head out.

As all of them would start heading towards the first store though, Touta just keeps looking towards and away from the tipsy Jeanne. It was the first time he had seen her drink, and he knows she's recently been through some traumatic...Well traumatic for her kinda stuff. So he finds himself speaking up. "Mmmm, Jeanne you are alright though...Right?" He knows that the girl can usually handle herself but...When you usually got booze in your place of work, and then find someone going to a bar all by themselves...You kind of feel the need to make sure they're alright, ya know?
Ritsuka Fujimaru The bartender gives Mikoto a thumbs up and an A for effort! Sadly, no drinks. Maybe another time.

"Hmph... Do what you want. Come to think of it, though... I haven't seen that boy around here before." Jeanne comments while glancing around slowly, eventually giving Mikoto that same taunting grin she's so fond of. "Have you asked yet?"

That should be a good start to messing with her. Touta's not quite so easy to screw with, though, what with Jeanne not really having that same kind of ammo to work with on his end. She doesn't take his hand, but she does certainly spot it and laugh while nearly (but not) walking into a low sign on their way. "Why wouldn't I be fine? I've drank before. I haven't even gotten into a brawl with the locals in a while." She shrugs, rubbing her shoulder and pulling a bit to pop her neck. "... Not like there's anyone worth fighting and awwake this late at night, but still."
Sumiko Mikoto gives Jeanne a look as they walk out.  After a moment she just gives her a sly grin, "For me to know and for you to find out~," She says, teasingly, "More seriously, we talked...and while I'm one fonder of pleasures, he's a good boy that wants to take it slow," She says, calmly.  "Besides, this isn't about me, it's about you~!"

Turning back towards Touta, "Maybe we should just pick up groceries and do Christmas shopping later?" motioning towards Jeanne nearly walking into a sign.  "Also isn't it evening Jeanne?  I am sure there are plenty."

"We might want to eat too..." she whispers to Touta, "Let something absorb the drink?"
Touta Konoe     He finds himself nodding along to Mikoto's suggestion. Food and groceries looked like they were gonna end up the priority afterall now that Jeanne popped in. Not that he had a preference either way. He finds himself whispering back, "Sounds like a plan...Also, if you ever see her get into a fight...Try to keep her out of it. At least while in this universe. I'll explain why later."

With that he leans back up and faces Jeanne, sorta just nodding along as she makes notes of her accomplishments of the year. "Yes, yes, you've clearly been on Santa's nice list this year. So let's just get something to eat and you can tell us all you want for Christmas alright? Will even pay for it." With that he spots a ramen shop around the corner, and points it out to Mikoto. "Alright this looks good." Cheap ramen is definitely and hopefully a life-saver at the moment. Plus maybe if they can get some rice it might help with Jeanne's...Current state of mind.
Ritsuka Fujimaru "Is that so? How dull." Jeanne sighs at Mikoto's revelation, eventually shrugging. "Then again, considering your... You-ness, I'm not all that surprised." It's vaguely insulting as usual, but it's also a little less coherent than her usual. "And none of this is about me! You two were doing your Christmas... Whatever, and I was having a good enough time myself.

Jeanne grumbles as she walks along with the pair, although she can't hold in at least a little bit of interest when Touta mentions his willingness to pay for... Something or another. "Oh? I'll hold you to it, then. But if you were thinking about doing your own Christmas shopping, don't let me stop you. I'm sure you've got something crazy planned, anyway, and surprises are better than the alternative."

Of course, when it comes to downing food? Jeanne's going to be loading up on those toppings. And refills. Thankfully, not refills of booze.
Sumiko "Oh yes, excuse me for liking nice guys who know how to treat a lady, instead of bar hopping for wage slaves who can't stand up to me," Mikoto shoots back towards Jeanne, with a grin of her own.  She is more than capable of defending herself...when she's not vulnerable.  So basically, just like everyone else!

"Seriously, we can do it later.  I gotta get gifts for the two of your lunkheads, and I can't do that while you're hanging out with me," she says, sitting down and getting a modest bowl of her own.  She's not a big eater, she just has a sweet tooth sometimes.

"So really, what's going on?  I know the holidays can be rough for people.  Besides, it's not like either of us is going to talk.  Touta is far too kind, and you know where I sleep."
Touta Konoe     As the two keep on talking about what he can only assume to be girl talk he just orders his own ramen. If he has learned one thing, it's just not to mess with girl talk. It'll never end well, ever...For all eternity. "Mmmm, well if nothing's going on I'll believe ya. Just know you got people to talk to Jeanne. Anyway...Still thinking bout gifts huh..." Now that he's thinking about it, did he even have any ideas on what to get Jeanne, Mikoto, or Rean? He sees them so much but it still felt really hard to get a present that would seem good for all of them. As he stays in deep thought he ends up staring at Mikoto...Intently...Very intently...This isn't weird. This isn't weird at all.
Ritsuka Fujimaru "For w...? I was only looking to spectate, not get involved." Never mind the fact that she /did/ get involved, but... Well.

A lot of things aren't going as planned tonight. Might as well keep that weirdness train going.

"... Fine. I turned into amother person I hate, I've gotten too soft since coming here, and I still haven't burnt the entire place to the ground." She grimaces in annoyance at spitting all that out, then begins making up for it by shoveling ramen into her face.

She may be ordering drinks soon if this keeps up.
Sumiko Mikoto frowns as Jeanne starts getting into 'I turned into another person'.  That's something she lives with being afraid of happening on a daily basis.  Looking up at her she gives her a smile, "So...are you thinking you are getting soft because it's the opposite of what SHE would do...?"

Though it looks like Jeanne already hit the drinks again.  Darn.

She turns her head back towards Touta and cocks it slightly at him staring at her intently.  She kicks him in the leg.  "You're giving people the wrong idea again, nerd."
Touta Konoe     "Ow! What did I even say?! And she means literally! She ended up in the Grail War recently and it affected her somehow. She was all nice and everything. She's not just being metaphorical on that!"

He really doesn't have a clue what he said this time. He thought he was just being a good friend on that account honest! Though whatever he's done he's clearly gotten Mikoto worked up now, so maybe...A change of subject?

"So...Did Rean mention what he was getting you at all yet or...?"
Sumiko "You were staring at me, it was weird," Mikoto comments at Touta.  She takes in another string of noodles and slurps them in like any self-respecting person.  Flashing him a grin, he repeats what he told her and nods.  "I remember."

She isn't worked up, she was just weirded out by the intense staring.

"Nope.  Why?"
Touta Konoe     He clearly didn't realize he was staring. So he just assumes that Mikoto's a horrible person right now. Hmmph! He'll just slurp his noodles at least as Mikoto gives a question right back to him, "Ah...No reason..." Clearly it'd be easier to get an idea of what to get her if he had some sort of reference to work with...

He lets out a bit of a sigh as he scratches the back of his head. He finds himself mumbling into his ramen, "Looks like figuring out presents are going to be harder than I thought." He could always give everyone gift cards, but that's so boriiiiiiiiing!!!
Sumiko Mikoto is not a horrible person, she is just wanting to remind Touta she's not in his harem.  This is something that Harem Protagonists need to be reminded of.  A lot.

"Christmas is hard," She agrees.  "But I like jade and green things.  I swear I am surprised I wasn't named Midori as a child," she comments.  "Gift cards are never unwelcome.  I mean, honestly...and not trying to be ironic..."

"Having a home with a group of people I can rely on is a good gift."

There is a pause, "OH!  If you get a gift for Seifer?  Get him a business cardholder.  Did you know he doesn't have one?"
Touta Konoe     Touta blinks...Did she hear that mumbling? She heard that mumbling..."Ah...Uh...Good to know..." He scratches the back of his head a bit more nervously now that he's been exposed, "Yeah, sorry Mikoto. Ehehe, didn't want you to know I was having a bit of trouble. But uh...I'll keep that in mind. And yeah...I really know the feeling of that sort of gift too." At this point he does something that's really hard not to shout at him 'I have a boyfriend already idiot' as he wraps an arm around her shoulder and snugs her with one hand. If she doesn't immediately kill him, she'd realize that if anything the affection he tries to show is one that he'd give to a sibling or just a really close friend. Though whether he gets that across or not is probably up to how she interprets it. "I know it really can be tough feeling like you're on your own. So I'm really glad you're finding a place for yourself in this big world. If you're able to find plenty of people to rely on I'd be happy...Just make sure their the type of people you /should/ rely on, alright?"

With that he'd release his arm from her shoulder with a big smile as he speaks up again, "As for Seifer, I'll keep that in mind. I haven't spoken to him in a while though. Hope he hasn't forgotten me by now! But uh...Yeah, I planned to get him and Hime-chan a gift as well. Next time you talk to'em let'em know I'm hoping they're enjoying the holiday."
Sumiko She's about to yell at him when she realizes what he's TRYING to do.  She blushes a little, as opposed to trying to kill him for once.  She returns it with a pat on the shoulder, "You really shouldn't be so nice to everyone that shows up at your doorstep though.  A lot of people out there that would take advantage of you."

"Yeah.  I guess I have, a new family.  You guys, the Concord.  It's...strange you know?  Being on my own for some long, being at my lowest and then just people willingly throwing themselves at me to help.  It's weird because...well I'm not that kinda person.  I'm selfish and greedy.  I don't care that I am these things..."

"I think it's alright that I grab more.  Though...I do understand others, and I like that Rean's a good boy, you know?  I'm a mess, right?" she says, with a laugh at her own feelings.  "So I am told that's basically what humans are.  To a point, I guess I should accept these things."
