Orchid      As part of their larger project to be a bit more 'proactive' when it comes to collecting specimens for their research, the Monster Research Institute has come to the world of Remnant. As always, they prefer to take live specimens, but with the rumors that the Grimm tend to both araise from and return to insubstantial mist when killed, taking them alive becomes a requirement.

The good news is that it was relatively easy to get help from the Beacon Academy, given that all they really needed was a guide, and they offered to both thin out the Grimm somewhat in the Emerald Forest, and the research results into just what the Grimm are, and what might be able to be done about them.

Of course, the scientists in question are not what we'd call mighty adventurers, so they hired some more of those for the operation. They've set up their 'field base' in a convenient clearing, a cluster of cages in the middle, open but with doors ready to close, and the off-road truck they plan to take the cages away with. The scientists are currently busy setting up recording equipment, and among them is Orchid, who is using her drones to do a survey of the area, looking for the Grimm.
Solty Revant      Solty Revant tries to help her friend at Beacon Academy whenever she can, but more than that even a fairly ignorant girl like her knows that something like this could help a lot of people. If scientists can figure out things about the Grimm, then the people of this world might be better able to defend themselves. And helping people is something Solty feels strongly about.

The green-haired girl with the strange hairdo and unusual outfit has been helping with whatever she could since she first arrived earlier. Of course, she has little in the way of scientific knowledge so she has just been carrying the heavy things. Like some kind of ant, she is able to lift things that no girl around 16 should be expected to lift. Fencing, cages...cars. But, her pointed, furry green ears have been trained on the area around them. She knows that the Grimm could pop up at any moment without much warning.
The Twins     The last hunt was good pay. A little harrowing towards the end, but still probably worth it. That's why the twins are here again today. They're sitting on the ground together, facing each other with a set of cards laid out between them in some sort of game. Kali is looking pretty thoughtful while Kyri is leaning back, glancing around while waiting for her sister to take her turn.

Kali finally puts down a card, giving Kyri a bit of a smile in confidence of her move. Kyri glances at the card, before quickly putting down one of her own. She then grins, "I win."

Kyri quickly looks confused as she studies the card. Her eyes then go a little wide, "You cheated!"

"Did not!" Kali reveals an identical card to the one Kyri just placed down. Kyri laughs a little, "Whoops. Honest mistake!" Kali looks doubtful.
Aranea Highwind     A red dropship arrives, more or less on-time. It's a heavily plated, rectangular transport, barely armed. The distinct hum of the magitek engines fills the air, though they don't seem visible on this model, as the doors behind the shop open up and down, and a dozen soldiers leap out, despite the ship being high overhead.

They land, without so much as a crater or a loud thud, evidently backed by some manner of impact dampeners in their boots. The lot of them are wearing chainmail under platemail, with a hint of technology hidden underneath, the tabards of the Niflheim Empire over the armor. For weaponry, they all have oversized black and gold lances, the lance part almost twice as long as they tall. The tips are glowing ominously red, to the same tune as the ship's engines up above.

At their lead is Aranea, her spear immensely more modest by comparison, yet more complex-looking. She taps her helmet to raise it.

"Yo. Right on time, looks like. Equipment's ready. Just point us at the monsters, and we'll fill your cages up. Biggs, sync us up to their equipment. Wedge, check their cages, I don't want it blamed on us if something gets out after we've done our job."

Two of the soldiers nod and get on that.
Alexis     Monster hunting is pretty much her bread and butter these days so Alexis is here. That and she figures it's the best way for the MRI to learn more about Pokemon too, by seeing them in action. Field research is always more productive that putzing around in a lab as far as she's concerned.

As this is a hunting expedition intending live captures if at all possible she came prepared primarily for that, with a couple of her heavy hitters as a backup. So for the time being she was leaning against a tree at the edge of the clearing, feeding a few berries to the oddly cubic-shaped bug sitting on her shoulder. Occasionally little sparks crackle from his pointy mandibles as he eats. While up in the tree a mongoose-like creature with a red zigzag pattern across his otherwise white pelt was perched on a branch, waiting.
"We'll have to see what's effective or not against this things, but I've got a trick or two ready." She pauses, glancing up at the airship arrival and the additionally allies disembarking. Then looks aside at the cat-like hiss from just above her. "Down Crosscut, those aren't what we're waiting for." "Zzzn," mutters the Zangoose and it slinks back out on the branch.
Note     There's an opportunity to beat stuff up for a good reason and get money in return? Note is there. Given that most of her training budget goes to food... she needs the work.

"I wonder if it's time for a change in outfit..." The girl murmurs in thought, glancing over and adjusting her attire while passing by some of the cages. She ends up rubbing her chin at them... and the trucks. And the scientists themselves.

So when she wanders back to the others gathering, she has some concerns to voice. "I dunno about this. The Grimm aren't... normal. They look like animals, but they're NOT ANIMALS. They're not... 'living things.' Will they even settle down if you cage one up? Can these cages hold 'em? Someone could get hurt badly if one breaks loose!"
Tomoe Tomoe is a bit late on arriving she had a project to drop off at the school. With that out of the way she was able to make up for lost time by flying most of the way at top speed, she'll touch down for a landing and then pause, pulling out a smartphone and will talk into it for a moment.

"No dad, wait Mom /did/ what? Seriously? Oh god, we'll have to talk later I just made it to the point for the hunt. Another day another coin right? Ya love you too old man."

After she hangs up she'll watch at the dropship that arrives and she lets out a low whistle at it as people get off. she seems to tkae intrest in Aranea and her weapon though as she arrives.

"Yo, nice spear you got there."

She also looks over to see Alexis

"So you got your team ready Alexis?"
Yang Xiao Long     Yang's in the group too, helping move equipment, but also checking with Orchid since she's the guide that was assigned to this group of scientists. The golden haired Huntress using her strength to just straight up lug heavy gear around on one shoulder.

Meanwhile, deep in the forest, a figure moves, bestial and hungry, skulking through shadows with eyes burning red. Around it, other shapes move, less stealthily and with more untamed rage, Beowolves, their jaws slavering as they're held barely in check by their Alpha. This group is to the north.

To the east, a skittering of many chitinous legs scurries through open clearings, a swarm of baby Death Stalkers, surrounding the huge, tank-like bulk of an adult.

To the west, four hulking monstrocities of black flesh and bone plates lumber along, swiping trees out of their way or just pushing through them, a Great Ursa with an Ursa Major and two regular Ursai trailing.

Meanwhile, the Guardian Cliffs tower to the south, the tip of Beacon Academy's namesake just peeking over the top, glimmering with a green hue as sunlight dances through the lenses and clockwork.

The red airship has an escort! A pair of white, potbelly transport/gunship airships follow the magitek ship in, the engines at the tips of their wings rotating into idle positions, while door gunners thumbs up at the lancers leaping free. <"Nevermore and Griffon to ground team, we'll be circling the area to keep any Lancers, Griffons or Nevermores from interfering.">
Orchid      The scientists are grateful for Solty's help; just getting the heavy stuff moved into position is very useful, and means they can get to the meat of the operation sooner.

It's a good thing that Wedge is doing that double-checking, one of the cages had a latch that wouldn't latch properly, but moving a stone out of the way fixes that. Orchid helps Biggs with the equipment, making sure that the Dragoons can also access the reploid's tactical net.

"You bring up some good points... ah, Note, was it?" one of the scientists says in response to Note. "We're not counting on their calming down, which is why the cages are reinforced ceratainium. Heavy, but there's little that can break it."

Regrouping with Yang, Orchid says, "Gather 'round all, and we'll go over what we want to do here."
"Our objective is to catch as many of these Grimm as we can, stuff them in the cages, and take them far away. We're getting paid, but we're not getting paid well enough to risk our lives, if you know what I mean; disengage unless someone's life is at risk. Now, there are a few groups of grimm on my radar already, to the north there are some Beowolves, to the east a group of Death Stalkers, and to the west a group of Ursai. Now, we'd like to lure these groups in, one at a time, but we also need to be ready to be rushed. Now, Yang, if you could explain how we could lure a group in?"
Yang Xiao Long     "The most effective way of getting Grimm to come to you is to emit negative emotions... however, if they spot a human or faunus, or something that at least looks the part of either, they'll aggress on that creature and chase it until it either loses track of its target, or is killed. We can use this to our advantage if we have people agile or fast enough to keep ahead of thes things.

Yang opens her Scroll and brings up holographic pictures of a Beowolf, an Ursa and a Death Stalker. "The Beowolves are probably the fastest of the three groups we have, they're very agile and have some basic understanding of throwing weapons. They'll pick up logs, and stones and toss them at you if you keep out of melee range.

She taps the Ursa. "These guys are super slow, but if they catch you, you're in for a world of hurt. They're tough, and can give out as good a beating as they can take." She then frowns at the Death Stalker. "These things are living tanks. They're pretty fast in a straight line, but we'll want to lead off the babies instead of trying to get the adult one into a cage. Adult Death Stalkers can reach the size of an Airship. Team JNPR and some others fought an Ancient one during Initiation. Took a combined effort to punch through its shell, they had to use its own stinger, even."

She then opens Orchid's map on her Scroll, and taps the locations. "My suggestion is kill the older Grimm, and lure the younger ones in for capture. The younger ones are less cunning and easier to manipulate."
The Twins     It seems the cavalry are here, spears and all. As more people arrive, it's time to begin the hunt. The twins stand up, brushing off the dirt as the cards they were playing with turn black and vanish on the wind.

Kyri walks over to join the others as they gather, hands on her head as she whistles at the sight of the Niflheim soldiers, "Impressive. Hope they're as good as they look." Kali walks close behind her sister, leaning to the side a little to look at the soldiers. The sight of the large weapons and heavy armour cause her to move a little closer to Kali in some concern.

The twins stop near Orchid as the briefing begins. Kyri looks a little bored, even yawning a little. They've already been to one of these before, which practically makes them veterans!

Beside Kyri, Kali is a little more attentive, nodding along eagerly in understanding first at Orchid, then at Yang.
Tomoe Tomoe takes note of Biggs and Wedge as they help out Orchid, good they seem to know what they are doing and she moves to gather up with yang and Orchid now listening.

"Can't spend it at if your dead. I know that well, also if people do get in trouble call me I can take a lot of punishment."

She notes to the rest of the team.

"I say we hit the Beowulves first they are the most common and would be the easiest to kite to the traps. At least in my limited experience."

She looks over to Yang sighing

"Ya ya I get it we're the bait."

She seems to understand it well enough to be the case.

"Right kill the adults and lure the young in. Geeze if this was anything else I'd feel like a poacher."

She also takes note of the Twins being here too this team was pretty solid when she took into account everyone who was here.
Alexis     "Keep watch," Alexis comments up to the Zangoose as she pushes herself off the trunk of the tree and walks over to join the others for the strategizing. The cat ferret nods and creeps out to the end of the branch. These weren't Sevipers but that was no reason for him to be any less dilligent.

Idly she feeds one last berry to the Charjabug on her shoulder so he's got plenty of energy stored up. "I brought a bunch of Pokemon that can hinder fighting ability, mobility, and do specifically non-lethal damage that's suppose to help facilitate capturing. It'll be an experiment on it's own to see what actually works on something besides other Pokemon, but that's what we're here for, right?" She shrugs, still sporting a bit of a lopsided grin. The thrill of the hunt was quick to override any consern in facing unfamiliar creatures, for good or ill. "And something bigger for the ones that can't be incapacitated of course."

Yang gives her own explaination of what they're actually looking at for options, nodding a little and folding her arms. "Basically I'm gonna try to screw up their capability to resist as much as possible so they can be caught. Probably not a bad idea to start with the wolves and work up to the big ugly tankers."

"Chrrrj," agrees the bug on her shoulder, little sparks crackling as he does.
Note     'Unbreakable' says the scientists. Note squints with suspicion at them. As if she has heard that word before. "Guess what's important is just whether the Grimm can break it. Not whether I can." She murmurs after looking away from them.

She has heard that word before. She has seen it proven WRONG.

But she hops over to the meeting and holds a hand up as soon as Yang mentions the need for speed.

"You've seen me in action. I can lead these things anywhere... AND beat them up. Hadn't had a shot at the bigger ones much though."

The little martial artist glances around at the gathering... some people she recognizes! Some she doesn't. Aranea she doesn't. And those strange sisters...

She focuses hard on Kali and Kyri. "... Don't think I've seen you two before, have I? Do you know what you're getting into?"
Aranea Highwind     "This?" Aranea glances at Tomoe, then towards her magitek spear. "Yeah, guess it is. Kind of a heirloom. Spiced up with some tech, just in case, but I wouldn't trade it for another spear."

Not even for those oversized magitek lances her men are carrying. Those might be huge, but they're not weapons. They're for capture and restraining. Or suicide attacks, given to robotic soldiers. Hers aren't, though.

They double as grappling hooks, so that's nice.

Of course, Aranea gets what's said next. She sure isn't putting any of her men on the line for a monster in a cage.

"Size of a ship, huh? I didn't bring nearly enough lances for that. I've helped take down bigger, but we were looking are hundreds of these deployed, not a dozen."

And not a whole lot survived.
    Thanks, Shiva.

"Better than they look. They look ridiculous and unwieldy," Aranea comments to Kyri, not beyond observing the facts. "But they work."

A look at Alexis and Tomoe, and then to Yang: "Starting with the wolves is fine. Might as well get acclimiated to these Grimm by starting at the bottom and climbing our way up. Do they have a tendency to help each other? If we pick on one group, are the other two going to come along to help if they catch wind of it?"
Note     "They do!" Note yammers over at Aranea. "Help each other, I mean. They're like a wolf pack. They like to hem you in and pounce from behind when you're dealing with their fellows and stuff like that. They're just like wolves."
Solty Revant      Solty seems quite happy to help and seems to have boundless energy the entire time she is moving the heavy things around. The aircraft overhead draw her attention for a few moments and she lets out a small awed 'ooooh' before her ears twitch as Orchid calls for them to gather. Solty jogs over and stands stiffly during the briefing, like a child trying to act like a soldier. But, she still smiles and waves to Yang when she gets a chance.

She listens intently to the plan, and like Tomoe seems a bit uneasy about it. "Yes...but if we don't help then they might hurt people, right?" she says to Tomoe, then looks around at the others. She notices Note and offers a wave to her as well. To those she hasn't met yet, Solty bows politely at the waist and smiles. "Hello! I'm Solty Revant! I'm happy to be working with you today!"

Others start listing what they can contribute and Solty ponders for a moment. "Hmm. I'm fast and can punch pretty hard. I could probably lure them pretty well?"
Aranea Highwind     "I meant the Grimm in general. Are the Death Stalkers and Ursa going to get involved if we make noise beating some of the Beowolves?" Aranea replies to Note, just in case.
Orchid      One of the scientists makes something of a face at the prospect of killing the older ones, but Orchid notices and puts a hand on his arm. "We'll be sure to get good images of anything before we kill it," she offers. Looking back to Yang she nods, then around at the others. "Then I guess we'll start with the Beowolves to the north," she says, reading the general consenus. "I don't think I could be afraid on command, so I'd like to try Solty's plan for getting them lured into our trap."
Tomoe Tomoe says "Sounds like it and your family have quite the story then."

SHe notes back and she does seem interested to know more maybe after the operation and Aranea seems on board with starting with the most basic GRIM first too.

She'll also look to Solty for a moment nodding "Right, I'm just saying don't die on this hill we can make another hunt later if we need to. It should work I can keep to the air and give you support in that regard, Solty." Tomoe seems ready to head out at this point.
Alexis Alexis nods. "If Solty's gonna handle the luring, I can get my Pokemon to having the initial trapping ready." Followed by a quick mental recap of which critter she brought to do what. It's probably going to take multiple tricks if these things are as nasty as people are saying the Grim are.
The Twins     Kyri looks at Note with a bit of indignation, "Of course! We've helped the MRI before! We know what we're doing." She hmphs and turns her head away.

Kali looks a little sheepish at her sister's words, but still give Note a bit of a smile, "I'm Kali. She's Kyri... Hi."

Hearing about the lack of spears does cause Kyri to grin as she whispers to her sister, "Should we?" Kali nods a little in response. The two begin walking towards the group of soldiers as Kyri says, "Shortage of lances, huh? Not a problem!"

Kali walks up to one of the soldiers, looking sheepish once more as she says, "Sorry." She reaches out to touch his weapon, black quickly spreading across it before it wafts away into nothing. Before anyone has time to get uppity about the destruction of the weapon, Kyri raises her hand up, light forming in the air above her before taking the shape of several more apparently identical weapons. They all drive down to embed in the ground around her, including right in front of the soldier that just lost his. Kyri gives him a grin, "There you go." She fails to mention the possible inferior nature of the weapon she just returned as she begins to walk away again, "These should come in handy." Kali bows to the soldier before rushing over to join her sister, nodding in agreement.

As people seem to have organized their roles, Kyri says, "We're not fast or anything. So we'll hold back and help with managing the little ones and their captures."
Yang Xiao Long     "Grimm are attracted to negative emotions, so fear, anger, that kinda thing. Reports from the Great War eighty years ago tell of the two sides putting aside the war to fight off Grimm attracted to the anger generated by a battlefield... so we'll probably aggro one or both othe groups unless we do this quick and professionally." remarks Yang to Aranea. "Be prepared for things to go sideways very quickly... it's the first thing we're taught at places like Signal and Refuge." she explains. "Never expect a plan to survive against the Grimm."
Solty Revant      Solty's eyes are wide as she watches Kali. "Oh wow! How did you do that? That's so amazing!" she gushes, getting entirely too far into Kari's personal space. She backs away again once Orchid agrees to Solty's plan, then gives a salute. "I'll do my best!" she says, then makes her way to the edge of the clearing. "Okay...here I go!" she exclaims, then kicks off like a track runner.

The ground explouds outward behind her, and like a bullet she is running toward the group of Beowolf. Trees, boulders, and the ground itself are pulverized as she passes by or through them at what must be a couple hundred miles per hour. Apparently she thinks she is all the bait they will need...or perhaps doesn't want to risk anyone else being bait.

When she reaches the location of the Beowolf, she goes flying through the air right at the biggest one. "Hyaaaaaah!" Her fist is engulfed in flowing orange-yellow light, and the punch unleashes not only the super-powered strength of the android, but an explosive amount of additional, pure kinetic energy.
Aranea Highwind     Aranea is about to respond to Yang, when one of her soldiers' spears just gets wrecked. The appearance of further spears doesn't seem to calm her, and the soldier rather immediatly notices he can't link up to the spear as he should be able to.

It's magitek, after all. But the distinct red glow isn't there anymore. They don't have power sources, exactly. They have batteries, juiced up back home. Even Aranea couldn't say what they juice them with.

"You little shit," Aranea barks out.

Her spear twirls in her hand, and swings to give Kali the equivalent of a slap across the face. And a cut, most likely, but at least there's no attempt made to land any sort of a lethal strike.

"You want some negative emotions up in here? How about a soldier's ire for messing with her men's equipment, and some rightfully deserved pain?"

There are probably worse plans, but between her annoyance and the potential for Kali to be injured, they should be set.
Alexis     Alexis watches Solty take off like a bolt, and hmmms softly. "That's pretty fast... might almost be too fast." She takes a few steps forward and picks the cuboid bug off her shoulder to set on the ground. "You just be ready to do your thing." "Charja." Static sparks around his madibles as he readies his electrified strand spinning.

Okay. Negative emotions. All they need is a big ball of hate and frustration... you know what, she has just that. Alexis reaches into her bag, and pulls out pokemon chewtoy that just happens to look like a certain large black and yellow serpent. She whistles sharply, and throws the decoy in the general direction Solty went after the Beowolves. "Crosscut! SEVIPER!"

"ZAAAAAAN!" The scream is nearly bloodcurdling as the Zangoose lunges out of the tree, tackles the snake mid-air, and is already in the process of ripping it apart by the time they tumble onto the ground. But that's pure unbridled blood deep hatred there driven by the natural generations of rivaltry between Zangoose and Seviper.
Tomoe So it was time to get going he wings will flare out not and she will take to the skies now. Once she is airborne she will move to get into formation with this and she'll make use of several spells as she does so small fire bolts, more spells used for pulling mobs as she knows they don't want to fry the Grimm. They need to lure them into cages and take them alive though with Aranea's men's' issue that gets her somewhat concerned and she's banking back to be able to back her and her men up if Aranea turns out to need it.
The Twins     Kali looks surprised, before laughing a little nervously at the attention from Solty, "Ehehehe, it's just... Something we can do..."

Kyri crosses her arms in mild jealousy as her sister gets the attention. But she is then hit with a sudden gust of wind, her eyes going wide at the sight of Solty rushing off at super speed, "Wow. She's fast!" Kyri's interest in watching Salty's speed vanishes immediately as she hears a very disturbing cry.

Kali hits the ground on her side a look of pain and surprise on her face. She pushes herself up on one arm and moves a hand to her cheek where a red line is beginning to form.

Kyri is immediately standing over her sister protectively, glarring daggers in Aranea's direction. A dozen or so energy rifles appear from light in the air above the two, floating there as they aim at the woman. Kyri is quite angry, "What. The. HELL."
Orchid      "Oh for scrap's sake," Orchid mutters as Kali manages to set Aranea off. "While I guess that could be a plan, oh, never mind." She moves to take a look at Kali's face, to see if there is bleeding enough to warent medical attention. She trusts Solty to handle that part of the plan. Alexis's plan makes about as much sense as anything else. She's using half of her attention to track Solty, but the rest is looking at Kali. "Let me see how big that cut is," she says, trying to sound comforting.
Yang Xiao Long     Solty's charge gets the Alpha's attention, and as that super strength, super speed punch comes in, it shifts and brings up its two massive paws, crossing them to cushion the blow! It's knocked back, skidding across the ground and digging furrows with its hind claws... but it isn't dead! The Alpha howls menacingly, snarling as the younger Beowolves all converge on the android girl and pounce, flailing with claws as the Alpha stalks around, waiting to see what Solty does next.

Meanwhile, Orchid's tracker drones would alert that the other groups have changed course, and are heading straight for the encampment, drawn, most likely, to the outpouring of hate and anger from the Zangoose and the Magitek knight as well as the boistrous half of the twins.
Aranea Highwind     "Consider yourself lucky I'm not going out of my way to take you in for destruction of Paladins equipment and Empire property. This crap's expensive to maintain."

The rifles don't seem to deter the dragoon in the slightest. It might be because she's here to do A Job and the others are kicking over the hornet's nest even as this is happening, so there's no point picking the rest of that fight right now.

"But don't get me wrong. You pull that shit with me again and it's your heart next, not your cheek. I'm a soldier, not a babysitter. You don't get to break my things, especially not free of charge."

With the trackers picking up movement, Aranea lifts a hand, giving the signal for her men to form up ranks around the perimeter and get ready.

"Let them come in. Spread out so we can round them up into one place and pincer. There's no sense spreading any more than we already are."

Aranea's spear dances in her hand, and she immediatly leaps upward, high enough to almost disappear from sight. The data from the trackers is handy. She pulls her spear back at the apex of her jump, and swings as though she intended to throw it towards the incoming Death Stalker(s). Rather than the spear, it's an arc of blood red lightning that shoots out instead, a lightning spell compacted into a barbed spear.

Damage is damage, no sense waiting for the Grimm to arrive before piling it on.
Alexis     Alexis turns to glance in the other direction when Orchid points out the other groups are also moving. Maybe that was a little too good of bait. Oh well. On the bright side the Grimm will hopefully be so focused on following that hate they won't realize they're walking into a trap. She points in the direction the Ursas were coming from, "Someone be sure to deal with the bears."

Then adjusts her own tactics on the fly and grabs one of her other pokeballs. "I've got the perfect thing for dealing with big armored bugs." She flings the ball in the direction of the Death Stalkers. "Go, Heatmor!" Energy briefly spills from the sphere, hitting the ground and consolidating itself into a chunky aardvark that appears to have duct-work attatched to its body and a large exhaust pipe for a tail. "Try and grab onto one of the smaller ones," she directs the beast.

With a grunt Heatmor extends the long sticky tongue from his tubular snout that anteaters are known for, and with a snap of his head whips it towards one of the smaller Death Stalkers. Not only does it have good reach to try and wrap around the insectoid Grimm, but the tongue is covered in the sticky paralytic saliva that allows it to use moves like Lick to stun it's prey.
Note     "Note!" The little youth answers the twins in return. As she turns her side to them though... her tail's in clear view. It's lazily twisting about in the air, idly swishing and curling.

She does look over her shoulder at Kali though. A minor twitch of worry. Like she'd better keep an eye on her.

Kali might've seen that look before. But there's no clear fear or worry in Note's demeanor.

With a wave to Solty, Note restlessly executes an in-place backflip (SOMEHOW) and lands with her arms folded..

Then she sees what Kali can do. And immediately freezes for a few seconds to watch the agitation and -- and then Aranea freaking out.

Note's just about to zip in and interfere when... Aranea changes direction. Note sighs with some relief... then focuses on the matter at hand. A deep breath later... she spreads out her footing, balls both hands into fists and holds them at her side...

"Haaaaaaaaah!!" White smoke-like energy leaks from her skin... then erupts into a smooth, flame-like white aura engulfing her. And she just ROCKETS up and forward off the ground, swooping for the Beowolves to get behind them and then come in at the biggest adults with whirling KICKS to the head.
Tomoe The GRIM's attention has been grabbed and she will do her damn alpha is alive still and she seeks to help do something about that, she summons her own Naginata the mooncutter and drops from the skies on the Alpha intending use her speed, mass an the spear to try and wreck it as hard as she can.

"DEATH FROM ABOVE!"

She may very well get more Grim's attention right now, and that's just fine with her.
Orchid      The scientists seem a bit wary at the in-team violence, but they're no fools. They join the others inside the ring of dragoons. "I hope you people know what you're doing," one mutters. There are only 4 of them, so they should be easy enough to cover,
Solty Revant      Solty's ears twitch even as she is flying through the air to deliver that punch. She impacts those paws and bounces back, then looks back toward the trap area. "...what happened?" she wonders aloud. The Beowolf are almost upon her before she reacts, and she seems to disappear completely for a moment. She appears mid-kick a few inches from the lead Ursa, delivering even more force than her punch. She aims at its head, but considering how easily it defended her punch last time she is prepared to spring back and take off for the cages. She should be able to outpace these things pretty easily after all, so her plan is to hit and run until she can down the big one.

If that works then she will lead the smaller Beos' into a cage. If not...well, new plans can always be made! And with all the help, she feels confident they will catch the little Beos! She waves to Tomoe and Note as she passes. "I think I can handle these guys! You guys might want to help with the bigger ones!"
The Twins     The cut isn't that bad, not enough to scar or anything. Kali is still a little shaken by the sudden hit, but manages a smile at Orchid, "It's alright... Thanks."

Kyri is clenching her fists at Aranea's attitude, which reminds her far too much of the authorities from her world. But the alert about the Grimm groups closing in doesn't unnoticed. "Tch. Whatever."

Kyri turns to her sister, giving a nod to Orchid in thanks before offering a hand to Kali, "Are you alright?" Kali nods in response as she is pulled up to standing.

Someone mentioned something about dealing with the Ursas. So the twins choose to do just that. Kyri turns towards the supposed direction of the coming bear-like Grimm. The moment they charge out of the forest and into the clearing, Kyri whips her hand out. The rifles floating in the air all fire at once, beams of light converging on the largest Ursa, the one leading the others.
Orchid      "Eh, I'd feel better if you let me apply some antiseptic," Orchid says, but she isn't going to force Kali to take the medicine. "The ursa are in that direction or so, good hunting." She's still trying to keep on top of where all the fighting is going on, partly to avoid surprises, but partly to keep the scientists happy with footage of the grimm in action.
Yang Xiao Long     Solty's speed lets her weave out of the pouncing Beowolves. They fall flat, piling up around where the android was, yelping and snarling at one another. The Alpha gathers itself to pounce on where Solty reappears, only to get tag teamed by Tomoe's spear fall, and Note's flurry of punches. A few other adult Beowolves try to back up their Alpha, but are held back by the rapid attacks of Note weaving through their number.

Aranea Jumps. And comes down hard atop the Adult Death Stalker with that lightning lance attack. The electricity scitters across the thick upper plate of the scorpion-like Grimm, giving it pause as the smaller ones continue forwards! One of these is caught in Alexis' pokemon's Lick attack, squirming and flailing its legs, but unable to move its stinger or claws to free itself.

The Twins move to intercept the Great Ursa, the laser cannons firing their beams, and burning through the things hide, leaving angry looking pockmarks of red that leak a smoke-like substance. The thing isn't quite dead yet, bellowing out in pain and rage as it tries to charge down the young pair.

Yang's off to one side, near a pair of those paladin knight dragoons that accompanied the Good Captain... when she bellows. "MOVE!" to the guys nearby. She turns, and as if seeing the future, intercepts a giant tree trunk as it comes slamming down. "ARBOR GIGAS! SOMEONE GET FIRE OVER HERE!" she bellows desperately, feet skidding back as she holds the new threat at bay... a giant amalgam of logs, some stones and a giant boulder with a Grimm Mask near the center.
Alexis     With the Death Stalker wrapped in its tongue the Heatmor starts to tromp backwards, intending to drag the bug Grimm into one of the cages before it can wiggle itself free. If they've got at least one specimin that's good enough.

Alexis looks down as the head of the chew toy, the only thing left of it, is dropped at her feet by her Zangoose. "Not quite how I had intended that to work, but good job." But her attention is quickly grabbed by Yang yelling for fire, and her attention fixes on the big golem of wood and stone she's indicating. Take the limbs off, don't burn down the forest. Okay then. She knows who can at least keep their fire focused. "Go help subdue that bug-thing. As for the fire." A different pokeball is selected. "Let's go, Majorette!" The yellow biped fox appears in front of her, reaching back to pull the stick from her tail as she does so. The friction in doing so causes the end of the stick to burst into flames. "Braixen!"

"Right, see that thing." Alexis pointed her towards the Arbor Gigas. "Need to slow that down and take out the limbs."

A back paw is dug into the ground to brace herself as Majorette holds out her flaming stick like a wand, and twirls it in the air. Flames erupt around what would be the Arbor Gigas' feet if it has such a thing, twisting into an upward spiral around it. The Fire Spin should start burning into it's limbs while limited it's movement within the blazing vortex, and not put the rest of the forest in immeadiate danger as Braixen uses her pyromancy to keep it closely spun to the monsterous Grimm golem.
Aranea Highwind     With the Grimm thoroughly occupied, Aranea's men start prepping their lances. Platforms deploy from them, like legs meant to turn the lances into stationary artillery - or maybe to stand on, in the event the lances can rocket. It's both, really. The speartips glow bright red.

As the Great Ursa charges the Twins, chains and ropes fire from the magitek lances, glowing a bright, disabling red. They try to slow the beast's charge, but more importantly, the lances are trying to knock it unconscious. It probably still has too much HP for that, but they won't let go easily - and their wires won't break easy, either.

The same happens where Beowolves start going down, although those are probably way easier to incapacitate once knocked around a bit by Solty and Note!

They do not even bother trying to stop the Arbor Gigas. That thing is not getting knocked down anytime soon!

Nor do they try to wrangle the massive scorpion Aranea is currently on top yet. Her spear twirls, and goes for a single, precise cut towards the base of its stinger. Leaving THAT on the big one sounds like an awful, awful mistake to make.
Orchid      Orchid rolls out of the way of the monster, even as Yang holds it back. She wips her head around to see that, yes, the scientists haven't been hit by anything. Thankfully they dressed for the field trip, and are just a little dirty.

The cage slams shut around the Beowolves

"Okay, let's see what kind of rock that is," Orchid murmurs to herelf. She'll pull out one of her sonic tools, and flip through some likely frequencies, looking for the one that will let her shatter the stone from a distance. Of course, to everyone else, this sounds like some kind of avant garde post-meaning music.
Tomoe Tomoe has done fairly well helping out Solty with Note, with the Alpha dead and many of the other adults down things are looking up for the moment. It's only the moment however as something far worse shows up now as she calls out a warning about something calls Arbor Gigas? She doesn't know that one but she knows the wanting to get to the thing and deal with it. She will see a thing a massive pile of logs and rocks.

She takes to the skies now and will start chanting runes dance about her body as she hovers there and will let loose a massive torrent of fire at it.

She will do the same thing again, more runes, more fire and she will keep this up as long as she can.
Note     Sheer, overwhelming speed compared to these creatures is Note's biggest advantage. Even without transforming, she's easily many times quicker than most of the bewovules. Even though they don't register very well on her senses, they have just enough of a presence that she can predict their moves and weave through them and bring a spinning kick about to the side of their heads with terrific speed but controlled force.

That's the reason she hasn't transformed. It's too hard to finely control her strength as a Super Saiyan, and she needs to SUBDUE here, not utterly destroy everything in her way. Though the adults are gonna get blown away by a series of rapid strikes and the occasional whipping about to fire a point-blank ki blast straight through the heart or the head.

This isn't like her PREVIOUS attempt at the Grimm either. Instead of facing them as a straightforward warrior, her maneuvers are calculated, surgical, efficient, and pragmatic. She doesn't even bother taking a real stance or even landing, preferring to stay airborne and make singular strikes that count.

"I -hate- these things." She grouses aloud at one point.

But as soon as the GIGANTIC MONSTER chasing Yang appears she rises into the air and inhales again. Then... with a loud, sustained kiai--

Note's aura expands outwards like a storm and brightens, shifting to a yellowish tinge... then *KRA-ZAAAAAAK!* It ignites all at once, leaving her floating there engulfed in a glorious bonfire of golden light, hair suddenly all golden and spiky instead of smooth and black... and angry green eyes focused on the log-amalgam.

    "HiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiyAAAAAH!!!"

Like a meteor she drops in on the creature, aiming for what she THINKS is its center - the mask - with a DIVING KICK.
The Twins     Hah. Take that large shadow bear. Seriously, these things are as strange as the ones in the last fight. Maybe even more so.

Kali continues to stay close behind her sister who doing most of the fighting right now. And happy to do so, Kyri continues to rain down lasers on the major Ursa. That is until the sudden barrage of chains and ropes begin to tie the thing up. Kyri frowns a little at the idea of getting help from the soldiers following that annoying woman. But she has to admit it's useful.

Kyri turns her head back to look at Kali. Kali nods. The laser rifles turn black and vanish. Kyri raises her hand once more and many of the lances she had created earlier respond to her command. Rising up out of the ground, they whip through the air to circle the Ursas from above. More chains fire out from them to wrap around the creatures of Grimm. But where the weapons of Aranea's soldiers are glowing red with power, Kyri's version appears to be drawing power from something else, glowing with a white light similar to that used to create them and Kyri's other weapons.
Solty Revant      Despite Solty's confidence, she is very nearly slammed by the adult Beowolf. She doesn't really notice until Tomoe's and Note's attacks stop several that were aimed for Solty. "Eek! Um...m-maybe you guys should stick around after all!" she says sheepishly as she keeps running. Apparently even these 'weaker' Grimm are tougher than they look!

Solty hears the warning about the Arbor Gigas, but she can't really run off and fight it right now. She has to keep leading the Beowolf. With the Alpha down, she should be able to lead the less dangerous Grimm to the trap. As she enters the clearing with the pack at her heels she calls out, "Here we are! I hope the trap is ready!" She isn't -too- worried about Yang and Note, and Aranea and the Twins seem to have things well in hand. Solty makes sure that the Beowolf are inside the trap, then makes a quick retreat with her Overclock to make sure the trap is sprung.

She is almost distracted by Note's powering up. It's always so spectacular! She manages to not stare too much or stop her actual work, though!
Yang Xiao Long     At least two of the younger Beowolves are still after Solty, lost in that primal, unquenchable rage that suffuses all Grimm, only the older ones able to focus it and not throw themselves blindly at a target.

The Ursa are big, slow and lumbering beasts, and as they're chained up in those magitek empowered bindings, they can't break free, pinned down to the ground with limbs in bad positions for leverage.

The Death Stalker juvenile is caged, there might be another couple that can be grabbed before they scatter back into the forest, though the adult one isn't going anywhere. It's stinger is cut free, and stabs into its own back, piercing the armour plate, but it still tries to reach above itself with its pincers to get at the annoyance that's riding atop it.

The Arbor Gigas is burned, some of its limbs bursting into flame before falling away, discarded by the intelligence governing the entire giant golem. This brings it to a stand-still, for Note's kick to knock the entire thing to pieces.

Instead of instantly dying, the Geist emerges from its hiding place, and attempts to flit away. Yang finishes it off with a shot from her gauntlet, detonating the Grimm before it can escape.

"Alright, secure the captures, and lets get outta here before more show up!"
Orchid      More cages slam close over Beowolves and the Death Stalker, the Ursas are being chained up. The truck is moved closer to the Ursas, letting them be moved into transport boxes. The scientists start breaking down their gear. They may have to leave some of the senors behind, but they will get all the data out along with the specimens.
"Pity about not catching the wood thing."
"Maybe, but how were you going to contain it?"
    "Point."

The MRI is filled with scientists that are bound and determined to not wind up in a parable about the hubris of man and the folly of science.

Orchid is helping move the equipment into the truck. It's been a good op, it'd be a pity to ruin it by dying.
Alexis     See, not all Fire types are raging pyromaniacs.... But some of them do like to show off, as Braixen does a little victory strut and sets off some small heat flashes like fireworks. Nothing that will actually sets thing on fire, just bright and a loud popping noise. "Don't celebrate quite yet," Alexis lightly scolds her. "Still, good job."

The Death Stalker is locked in its cage and hoist onto the truck by the Heatmor and Zangoose. "Good work you two, too." Now help the scientists collect their gear."

Wait, didn't she have one more out? Heatmor, Zangoose, Braixen...

Being the small and not very mobile bug it is Charjabug had instead buried himself in the ground to stay out of the way of all the big chaotic fighting raging around the clearing. Now that things are finally dying down he pokes his head back out. "Ja?"
"No, it's fine." Alexis stooped down to pull him out of his hideyhole. "You did the right thing by taking cover, that got a lot more hectic than I anticipated." Alexis set the bug back on her shoulder. "It's important to know when to pick your fights if you can."

Which is why they're getting out of here as soon as the captures are loaded up. In cages. On a truck.

"Man, you guys make me appreciate Pokeballs so much right now."
The Twins     The twins begin walking back to meet the trucks to cart the Ursas off. Kyri's floating lances pull the chained beasts, dragging them along. Once the Ursas are loaded up and cages, the chains and their weapons turn black and vanish.

On the walk back to the camp to pack up and move out, the two walk past Aranea. At which point Kali nudges her sister a little. Kyri grumbles for a moment, before grudgingly saying to the soldier leader, "Thanks."
Solty Revant      With the small number of Beowolves caged, Solty takes off to help the others. Seems the best place to help is with the Death Stalkers. Grabbing one of the smaller scorpion, Solty simply hefts it over her head and quickly runs over to throw it in a cage. She does this as many times as is possible before they have to retreat. Everyone else is being so awesome Solty doesn't even feel like she has to go and help anyone!

When everything is calmed down and they are loading up to leave, Solty once again helps move the heavy things. But, even as she is doing that she gushes at the others. "You guys are so awesome! Note you just splintered that big wooden thing! And Kali and Kyri, even though the scary lady didn't like it I thought your weapon tricks were amazing! And Tomoe you're good with weapons -and- magic?!" She giggles at Yang. "And of course you are -always- awesome, Yang!" She approaches Alexis after everything and smiles excitedly. "Can I give your big fluffy clawwed thing a hug? How come it doesn't like snakes so much? What was that fire monster? It has a really long tongue! Does it ever lick you like a dog does?" After barraging Elxies with questions for a bit, Solty looks to Aranea. "You jumped sooooo high! How did you not hurt yourself when you came back down?"
Aranea Highwind     Pincers! Aranea's leaps over her spear, allowing both of the beast's pincers to seize it. It doesn't break, but then it'd have to be a hell of a beast to snap an artifact that old in half. Aranea stays balanced upright, as if doing a handstand on her spear, while the Death Stalker holds onto it.

"Sorry snappy, no room for you on the trucks. I'm gonna need that back now!"

Thundaga surges from the spear, blue lightning shrieking in every direction, centered on the scorpion solely through proximity.

The moment it lets go of her spear, the thrusters on it kick off, and Aranea rockets away from the scorpion, back towards the camp, where her men are helping load the cages and generally get things ready to go. With any luck, she'll even manage to do that without getting cut up by an angry flailing pincer!

"Call the dropship down, we're leaving."

Wedge nods, while Biggs remains with Kali and Kyri despite prior altercations. "Don't take it the wrong way, Lady A's just looking out after us. She gets... protective," he responds to Kyri specifically.

Up high, the dropship starts losing altitude as it descends, still protected by its escorts. Good thing no flying Grimm came out to play.
Tomoe They will get what they can as she as she moves to fall back in with the party she will come in for a landing with everyone else.

"Weapons yes and magic? Well, you could call it magic. It existing is complicated on my world." She looks a bit sheepish about what Solty says. She looks over to Aranea then to Biggs. "I won't, she's watching your guys backsides too." She will be heading out soon. She will move to cover the evac herself and once it's done she will bug the hell out with everyone else.
Note     As soon as the creature takes the hit, Note rebounds into a fantastic arcing somersault that takes her soaring over many heads and finally landing on the ground far from the scorching and other hazards of fighting alongside such a diverse group. Her aura continues to blaze with impressive gusto, and every erg of it is nothing more than wasted energy. A LOT of wasted energy that she cannot contain at such intensities, dissipating into the cosmos.

All without seeming to mind the loss too much. Although there's a certain INTENSITY to her presence and gaze that wasn't there before as she turns around. "Alright, We've got plenty of these critters! Enough?"

Catching up on the situation though, she has to point at Alexis and waggle a finger. While still glowing. "I dunno... those things don't look too comfortable! So TINY, how does anything fit in 'em?" This would maybe seem to be hypocrisy of the highest order if people have seen her using Capsules. But Capsules don't store living things.
The Twins     Kyri just hmphs, still annoyed at what happened and then having to thank Aranea for the assist. She just walks away without saying much more. Though as Solty briefly comes over to gush, Kyri hehs, "Ah, it's nothing much. Just creating multiple weapons and controlling them all simultaneously while also being prepared to create more incase something gets through." She certainly makes it sound like something. Though Kyri does say, "You're pretty fast! It's nuts."

Kali does pause for a moment with Biggs, "Ehehe... Please don't mind her either. She... Also gets very protective."

"C'mon, Kali! Or I'll leave you for the Grimm."

Kali looks over in her sister's direction, "A-Ah, right." She looks back at Biggs and gives him a smile, "Bye." She turns to go and catch up with Kyri, asking, "You wouldn't really do that, right?" Silence. "Right?"
Orchid      The science truck is getting out, Orchid abord that. A bunch of others are going out on the Beacon Academy craft. They'll probably regather at the Bear Your Soul, and make sure paychecks are passed out.
Alexis     Once the scientists are loaded up and on their way out, Alexis recalls her other pokemon. Then releases her Flygon and climbs on her back to fly to the city on. Once they're settled in at somewhere to eat she'll get the Zangoose Solty wanted to see back out.... He's less likely to be clawful if his had something to eat too.
