Scene #6322: Evangeline vs Orchid!

Evangeline	The little Neuroi known as Evangeline felt she needed some more multiversal combat experience, and as such sent out a signal requesting someone help her by being her opponent in this safe area. The small metallic black girl now waits for her opponent to arrive, and while doing so warms up with some evasive maneuver drills and some target practice against a few of the small trees and rocks dotting the arena. Evangeline has apparently choses a fairly open but lightly forested area for their combat.
Orchid	The truth is that Orchid is terrified about combat. She'll do almost anything to avoid actually fighting someone, being the focus of their attacks... That fear is less there when it comes to training, but she still doesn't like it, and will put it off. But she'll get in her required sparring. Eventually. If she has to. I guess. Still, Eva seemed like a good person to practice with, so when Orchid arrives into the arena it is with a cheerful "Hello!" Of course, she's also dashing forward into the clearing, trying to catch Eva off guard with a spray of plasma pellets.
Evangeline	Evangeline looks over and comes to a hover as Orchid greets her with both words and a spray of plasma. The little Neuroi spirals away, her shield flaring from a few impacts and a small chunk of one shoulder flaking away as a result. "...Orchid...I thought you were a non-combat unit..?" she says even as she banks around and comes back in like a fighter jet attacking a target. The red panels on her little wings glow brightly before a half dozen of small, vectoring red beams lance out at Orchid. "...I will not hold back...even though we are friends and fleet mates..." Each beam explodes upon impact before Evangeline flies past Orchid and spirals away.
Orchid	"I try to be non-combat, but they still make me practice!" Orchid replies, suddenly jumping onto a tree and kicking away, evading two of the beams completely. "And here, we don't have to worry as much about holding back!" She catches two more of the beams on her energy shield, the last two impacting on her torso armor, instantly burning a hole. Of course, Orchid never fights alone, and a number of her spiders attempt to jump on Eva, planning on webbing her to make her an easier target, while Orchid seeks cover deeper in the trees.
Evangeline	Evangeline is surprised by the spiderbots on the trees and gets pounced right into a nearby boulder. She crashes through, now sticky with webbing. "...you seem skilled for someone who does not like to fight..." she says. With her maneuverability reduced Eva can't fly as fast either, so she fires lighter shots at Orchid as she tries to free herself from the webbing. Another salvo of those vectoring red beams lance out, though not as many as before.
Orchid	"Just because I CAN doesn't mean I enjoy it!" Orchid notes, before falling into a set of Eva's beams; this time it came in without her seeing, and she takes it full force, blasting her into a tree. Still, she thinks she has the angle now and shoots... And clearly not at Eva. No, Orchid just saw a particularly thick branch above the Neuroi that is in just the right spot to come crashing down.
Evangeline	Must have been quite a branch! Evangeline is caught underneath it and crushed into the ground. Her shield flares but still her body is snapped in half below the waist. She floats slowly back up, now legs now, then raises both arms and takes aim. That sinister red glow engulfs both of the flat ends of her sleeve-like arms before a beam a few feet in diameter is fired at Orchid. Even if it doesn't hit her squarely, it carves a path into the ground and causes a powerful explosion of debris. At the same time, Evangeline seems to get an infusion of energy from somewhere, and the legs that had by now disintegrated into pink dust quickly reform. "...good shot..." she says to Orchid.
Orchid	For a few moments, Orchid can be proud of the trick she just pulled off... And glad that they're fighting here, where her friend won't be permanently hurt... And where Orchid won't be killed either. Orchid takes the beam full on, even interposing her shield, but while she'll avoid total destruction, she is blasted backwards through a tree. But the fight isn't over yet, and Orchid rises up again. She needs some breathing room, she needs some time, so she makes a lateral move, firing a few times in Eva's direction to keep the other from guessing what she's up to.
Evangeline	Evangeline needs to get a bit of energy back herself after using so much at once, and so matches Orchid's movement, her shield flaring to dull the attacks from Orchid. This time Orchid finds a set of shotgun blasts not unlike her previous plasma pellets coming at her as Evangeline weaves her way between boulders and trees. "...if you ever do get forced into a fight...I think you will be able to win..." she says as she fires.
Orchid	Blasted again, Orchid goes head over heels. Fine, time to put everything she has into a truly massive attack, one that will either win things for her, or let the Neuroi Girl win. Her remaining drones converge on Eva, to jump on her and hold her down. This is only one part of it, as Orchid keeps her distance, charging up her blaster, reconfiguring her weapon systems on the fly like only an engineer can.
Evangeline	Despite barrel rolls, loops and other evasive maneuvers Evangeline is soon covered in robo spiders. Weighed down as she is, Evangeline has trouble even staying aloft much less avoiding hits. But for some reason, rather than trying to destroy the spiders she instead goes still...and any spider still touching her is suddenly converted into more Neuroi. Metallic black covers them, and a red glow takes over wherever they had lights. Spider Armor Evangeline then resumes her evasives. Of course now she looks...well...probably a bit unnerving with pointy spider robots stuck all over her. This time, it is the spiders' eyes that light up with that sinister red before beams fire out at Orchid. "...sorry about your spiders..."
Orchid	"They'll return to my control," Orchid says, taking the hit as she moves into the right position to blast ... The roots of another tree. Slowly at first, the mighty oak topples over, but then falls faster and faster, tons of force released as it falls. Hopefully, Eva will be slowed enough to take the hit.
Evangeline	Once again Orchid displays singular talent at both precision shooting and getting a tree to fall where she wants! Evangeline is caught beneath the mighty oak and crushed beneath it in a burst of the pink powder that usually results when she takes damage. Even with her shield flaring she disappears beneath it! It is a few moments before a sound like a cutting beam can be heard. Several actually, and then the tree explodes upward. Evangeline floats up into the air again, the sinister red glow at the ends of her arms and on her wing panels visible through the dust and falling sticks. "...that was a big tree..." she says, much of her spider armor shattered after that hit. It is slowly rebuilding itself, but it could take a while at this rate. Evangeline doesn't go for a skillful display of tactical ability...instead the various red glowing areas on her body glow more and more brightly. "...my turn..." she says in that soft, monotone voice of hers before she fires another Breaker Beam. This time it is nearly as tall as herself, and just like the last it causes a massive explosion and leaves a ditch in the ground that could easily be used for something like irrigating.
Orchid	Orchid had no intent to be inside the breaker beam any longer than she had to. Thus, she activated her dash jets, but a second too late, and is bisected across the torso, her arms blasted away as well. This.... REALLY hurts! "I yield!" Orchid shouts, before sort of passing out.
Evangeline	The arena resets a moment later, and Evangeline floats over to Orchid quickly. "...are you alright..?" she asks, holding out an arm and eventually a hand. If Orchid remains passed out after the reset, Evangeline just floats there and waits for her to recover. No real damage should stick, after all. "...you fought good...especially for someone who doesn't like to fight..." she adds.
Orchid	Orchid finds herself restored, her spiders back with her, and Eva above her. She accepts the offered hand with a chuckle. "That's the thing. I like to get fights over with, and I like to survive them. Still doesn't mean I enjoy it, but thank you for the match."
Evangeline	Evangeline nods just enough to be visible. "...thank you, too..." she says, then gives Orchid a hug. "...hopefully you will not have to fight anyone for a while...even if we are helping Nagato against Abyssals..." She just floats there after that, then looks toward the exit. "...I should return to base...night patrol will be starting soon..."
Orchid	Orchid returns the hug warmly. "Thank you Eva," she says. "And good luck with the patrol."
