Count Kord Bugen. An island settlement, with many little fishermen outposts around it. It's not a very comfy place to live. It's cold, and it's wet, especially now. Snow falls down but hits water that's only just warm enough to melt it. The nobility have directed the party to an encampment. There, they find people dressed in white robes, going about everyday fisherman peasant activities. They seem pretty normal. There's an old man sitting in front of a fire, with a purple gemstone glowing on a necklace hanging from his neck. He stares into the fire boredly, the way grimy peasants do sometimes.
Theurgus     With Theurgus otherwise occupied, it falls to Arcana and Charta to make this trip. The pair arrive at the location, directed by the nobility, but guided by Charta picking out a source of magical energy. The bookfairy floats over to the man by the fire, hovering down to eye level but saying nothing until she's noticed.

Arcana follows a few paces behind, shuffling her cards in the way someone would out of habit. Cutting, shuffling, pulling random cards out for a quick trick with her fingers, then resuming the shuffling.
Athela Valemore This was going to be rather awkward. Keldeo was not exactly on amiable terms with Bugen... Okay, that's not entirely accurate. The reclusive island nation that shared name with the coastland of Bayern had once refused to trade with anyone that did not follow belief in their own god of the sea, Manaphy. But the real problem had been the nobles of Keldeo's own domain turning their backs on him and forcing the tradesmen of the coast to change their views in order to foster trade for the very rare resources the Island of Bugen held. So really, the young god's frustration was more with his own lands abandoning him so easily just for the sake of profits.

If it had not been for the rumblings of the Titans' return, and a new Champion finding his relic sword, Keldeo may of never bothered to come back. Even now he was a bit iffy on this entire affair.

To be entirely honest, neither the Forgotten Sword or his chosen one cared about the nobility and their complaints. The ominous potential of a 'new god' coming for this offshoot of people was reason enough to investigate, what with the problems already caused by Team Golem and the Titans stirring. The last thing the limited group of divine Legendaries watching over Bayern needed was another disruptive cult. So it was less by noble requests and more by her own deity and company poking her that way that Athela had come along, to investigate for herself. At least with it being a fishing community she didn't feel entirely out of place.

The temperature was chill so she had her cloak wrapped around herself fully and the hood pulled up over her head. Which just happened to cover her red hair and distinct headpiece as well. Her Vaporeon followed along, unbothered by the cold. For right now though, the Forgotten Sword was staying that way and keeping a lower profile than usual.
Raziel     "I will allow you to do the talking here, no doubt my appearance may do more harm than good to trying to figure out what is going on. Instead, I will leand my talents by walking around where they can not see me," Raziel says, perhaps still more concerned about his appearance that he needed to be, but after all of these centuries, he still is perhaps more concerned with his appearance than he admits. However, true to his word, he holds his hands out calmly, before seemingly evaporating into blue energy and fading completely.

In the Spectral world, he moves towards the village, looking about things and trying to find what they were here to get, though he wonders if the nobility themselves know more than they let on.

'Abandoning the flesh, and once more becoming a wraith, I set out into the town itself, looking for what we were seeking, and allowing the rest of my allies to speak to the people as they saw fit. My appearance would do more to frighten and hurt any chance at a peaceful resolution, than my absence would...and reguardless, I can move in ways my allies probably could not. While the desire to lament my physical appearance was strong, I knew that self pity would do little in the long run.'
Staren     Staren isn't exactly sure that these people need to be eliminated, but it's a chance to learn more about Kord's world and keep tabs on things. Since this is a religious movement of not-particularly-violent civilians he forgoes armor in order to have a more friendly appearance. Which does leave him nervous. What if a pokemon attacks? Then again, he's still far better equipped than the average human to deal with one...

The cold doesn't bother him at least, he has magic for that. He waves or nods to those he recognizes, and asks Athela, "So... had Manaphy actually /done/ anything for these nobles that are making such a fuss?"

His own plan is just to talk to some fishermen and try to find out what events have actually happened. What moved them all to start worship of this new god, what it asks of them, and whether any actual, verifiable miracles have been performed.
Count Kord The old man looks startled by the fairy's appearance. He balks for a second. Then he says, "Hello there," in a shaky voice. "Who are you?" He smiles warily at Charta, then directs his gaze to Arcana. He looks between them and lifts his brows expectantly, waiting for them to say something to him. He notices the others arriving as well, but doesn't seem worried. "Ah, come to investigate us, then...?"

In the spectral realms, his gem glows with purple light, which emanates a spiritual strength. It seems dangerous, but not in the way the Registeel was.
Theurgus     Charta says, after bowing a bit. "Please forgive our intrusion... yes we have been sent by the nobility, but our goal is understanding, more than anything else." says Charta with a soft smile. "I am Charta, Oracle of Locus, and my companion behind me is Arcana, Drive Core Candidate of Locus." she says, gesturing to Arcana, who nods without speaking.

"I would like to ask, first and foremost... what is the source of power for the crystal you wear?" her small hand gesturing to the purple gemstone.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore merely nodded a little in response to Staren's greeting, and is not really surprised by the question considering his usual inquisitive nature. Even if she doesn't entirely understand many of his reasons for it.

"To those nobles if he has or not is irrelivant," she answers with a bit of a sigh. "They will insist their god is the only true god of the sea regardless, and honestly, I do not care. I am more conserned if this will have impact on the on-going conflict with the Mad Titans. There is a.. related story, but now is not the time for it."

Then the old man speaks up passively towards them and she mmhmms softly, trying to keep a polite attitude going. "You could say that. Word of a new divinty does not go unnoticed for long."

Then she looks down to Sprite, but the Vaporeon merely shakes her head. There was an odd vibe in general about the settlement, but nothing directly threatening she could feel as of yet.
Staren     Staren rolls his eyes as Athela explains that the nobles blindly worship Manaphy in return for nothing, and quietly mentally files them under the 'idiots' category. But hey, here's a guy to talk to now! Staren walks over to him. "Yeah. We're not affiliated with Manaphy or anything, but we're curious about events on this world, and the sudden forming of a new religion..." Staren shrugs. "What happened? And what's this, ah, faith's /deal/?"
Count Kord     "It is an ancient heirloom passed down to my family since the founding of Archengart. Xerneas bless those poor souls. I have kept it safe from harm from that dreadful Count ever since," the old man explains. "It keeps us safe, but only in times of emergency. I... don't know how it works, but it does. Our new Lord demands that I keep it safe until he can retrieve it, as well." Awfully open about that! He smiles at her and Arcana. "You must be from the Multiversal worlds, then. I don't recognize those regional names."
"Our 'deal' is that our Lord provides us with bountiful catches, and in exchange we must treat the ocean and even strangers and enemies with respect. He requires balance, and peace."
Theurgus     "Ah, a protective charm." replies Charta with a soft smile. "As for our origin, yes, we are from the greater Multiverse." she adds. "If I may ask, who is your Lord...?" she asks hovering a bit lower, stopping about a foot off the ground.

Arcana wanders off, leaving the more conversant Charta to her current task, as the DCC starts looking around idly.
Athela Valemore A relic from Archengart?! That catches Athela's attention.... but also causes her to frown slightly under her hood as she thinks back to why what happened to Archengart did. Or so it is claimed to. Honestly they don't know how much of that story is true.

Though as Kord was right about the threat lurking under Konigburg...

Typical, they come looking for answers and are mainly getting more questions. But others are already asking, and she's content to leave them to do so and just listen.
Staren     Staren scratches his chin. So far, this sounds like a pretty reasonable god. "And the appearance of this god... before them you did not have such bountiful catches, and now you do? Is there a way we can talk to them?"
Raziel     Raziel is uninterested in this man's faith. Right now it seemed little harm for it to continue to exist. Right now, he cared little for the false words of divinity, and instead continued to watch. His eyes looking around him for anything out of the ordinary in the spirit world, or anything that needs to be addressed, or to warn his allies about.
Count Kord     "He speaks to us in our dreams. He says we must wait here until the Day of Ash to meet with him. It's... not clear what he means by that, so we have been waiting here and just living our lives." The old man shrugs and returns to the fire. He picks up a stick with a roasted fish on the end and takes a bite of his food. "Our Lord is the Guardian Beneath. He travels the deep undercurrents of the ocean, peacefully protecting the depths beyond where our nets and poles can reach. He makes sure the oceans are safe and protected."
Athela Valemore The cloak shuffles a little as Athela shrugs to the others. 'Day of Ash' is a new one to her as well. So there's not really anything else she can add to that. Other than the origins of the elder's artifact there was little that seemed unsual about this, at least on the surface.

So to speak.
Theurgus     "The Guardian Beneath..." repeats Charta contemplatively. "So, you have no intentions of harming others? This was largely the concern of the nobility, as far as I was told." remarks the bookfairy, tapping her cheek with a finger. "Is there anything else you can think of that may be useful to know?" she ventures.
Count Kord     "Those bloody silver-spoon-in-'er-mouths, sweaty, fat fucks," the old man mutters, and reaches up to rub at his brow. "No, we're fishermen, and we don't want any trouble. Just leave us be." He waves Charta off. He tends his food, grumbling to himself.
Staren     "Yeah, but" Staren insists, "Did catches actually increase after you started having these dreams, or did nothing really change?"
Athela Valemore "... And apt description." Athela murmurs under her breath. If a bit more vulgar than the young knight would put it, but she can't disagree with the sentiment. "But if your Guardian is benevolent they, despite their narrow vision, have little to fear."

There's no way it's going to be -that- simple of a matter, but for now, that is about...

...Oh for goodness sake.

Lightly she reachs over to give Staren a tug. "Please do not cause a scene simply because your need for absolute proof is not met yet."
Count Kord     "Yes."

The old man lifts up a fish onna stick. "Here. Some of the proof. My son caught this today, and he had never caught a fish in his life before he began having the dreams."
Staren     Staren nods. "Anecdotal is good enough for now, I'm not gonna make a big fuss until I see records or something."
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore nods to Staren. "Thank you." Then turns and bows to the elder, her Vaporeon mimicing the posture by lowering only her forelegs. "And thank you for accomidating our inquiries." With that she turns and readies to leave. There is no apparent immeadiate threat, so for the time being that is well enough for her.
