Cu Chulainn The mission was 'simple', atleast, in Felt Haddask's mind. He'd explained it on the way, having reruited a team of Elites because his Servant, the Lancer Cu Chulainn, was badly injured and low on mana.

A small French town has become dark and gloomy, shadows from a nearby castle on the hill casting over it. The town's residents have started to become ill, and already sick or elderly people have died since, the causes vague, but as if 'their life was just sapped away'. To make things worse, strange knights in black armor have appeared around the castle, warding off trespassers (like a group of teenagers who tried to investigate the 'haunted castle') violently. A police officer who tried to investigate was left in critical condition, and this was when the Clock Tower decided to mobilize their own.

The theory is that this is the work of a Grail shard. The castle, Castle Quentinus, belonged to one mage named Questiv Quentinus, who is believed to have been recently deceased of natural causes. He was over a hundred years old and was not known to have any longetivity magic or procedures done, and he had also stopped sending regular reports to his backers. The Association was planning on sending a team to investigate the castle and grab his research, but with the recent Boston incident, hadn't any time. Until now.

The hillside is green and breezy, and Castle Quentinus isn't too far from the hidden warpgate in the nearby trees. It's a large castle, more properly a 'chateau' in both name and the sort of image it brings to mind. It probably has three large floors and is known to have a basement based off reports, and has one central entrance.

That entrance is guarded by knights. In the light of day, they're clear to see, but at the same time, the castle is still very dark - shadows stretching out all around it. A pair of large knights in harsh black armor, each wielding a sword and shield. The shadows of the castle accentuate them, and they avoid the direct sunlight. They don't seem friendly, though they're wearing full-face helmets and full plate, so it's hard to tell what they're thinking or feeling at all.

The path inside is up to you. Storm the gates? Try and scale the walls into the higher floors? Try and focus on the basement, which is thought to be where the bulk of Questiv Quentinus's work was? Either way the group decides, Felt and Lancer will be behind them, watching their backs.
Seifer Almasy      Seifer Almasy is not having the best of weeks.

Caster more or less openly flirting with her ex (which got resolved, but still, it wasn't great at the time) after Saber stole a win from the team that beat Berserker (which was cheating) because that guy with the glasses decided to surrender (which was cowardly) all put Seifer in a pretty miserable mood (which is common). He needs something to work all that aggression out on, and since his usual target isn't around, he's throwing himself into a bit of work. A castle, a Grail shard, and a bunch of shit to fight all sounds like a good way to work out that aggression, and with people dying it's also a good place for somebody who wants to be a hero to show up and help out. So Seifer's here to show and help out.

Granted for almost entirely, purely selfish, reasons, but still.

Seifer concocts a plan and waits on radio, slightly distant, behind some cover. When nobody says anything to the contrary, Seifer shrugs his shoulders, rolls his arms, and then goes for it. He steps out from his cover and goes running up to flank the knights. The gunblade flashes as he slings it off his shoulder. He's going for two clean, simple kills here - right for the joints, where the armor is weakest, firing the gunblade in the middle of the arc. The bullet hits the inside of the blade, to vibrate right through whatever resistance might remain.
Orchid      One of the things drones are good for is testing so see if the obvious approach is trapped. Which is why Orchid had spent some time sending her own little drones in, hoping to get a map of the castle, and an idea of where important stuff might be. They're not that big, and can be kinda stealthy. Still, in the present, Orchid isn't going to stop Seifer, preferring to be BEHIND the stabby psycho with the big knife. She'll follow along at a more sedate pace.
Maya Maya has been getting restless as of late and had been paying attention for more work that wasn't mostly run of the mill Paladin jobs, and today she'd found one. She quick to respond to Felt's request for help. If Lancer's been jacked up by something?

This is cause for concern, so little miss ley line was here. She did look like she'd fallen out of a post-nuclear action movie from how she dressed. Or someone who liked leather and of all thing metal shoulder guards a bit too much. She would make it to the region and be staring down the knights but not moving to charge in this yet, she's learned the hard way in her long life of exploring the multiverse and even her homeworld before.

Front door dynamic entries often lead to pain for the ones entering. However Seifiers idea to clear a path in but not use the front door seems to be workable in the Junker's mind. If it came to it and she moves to fall in. She does not yet open up as someone might try to talk.

That promptly goes out the window, so she draws her rifle, the strange magi-tech weapons engine hums to life drawing on the local ambient magical energy of the area and failing that it will work off Maya's own reserves.

Then the party infighting starts, inwardly Maya prays to all the fates and the creator she will not have to once again keep party member from actively trying to kill each other while on the job. She's done it before and it drove her mad. This aside she's giving Seifer cover fire now as the attack is well under way.
Thomas Alva Edison     A man with a giant lion's head has arrived right as Seifer attempts the direct approach.

Well that's one way of doing things...it sure is the AMERICAN way. Well, Thomas would have used MORE explosives, because that is the pure American way, but well...

Stepping forward, Edison comes right in with Seifer a moment later, BIG ELECTRIC FISTS come down against the other knight, aiming to provide DIRECT CURRENT straight to it's chest. As well as some direct fisticuffs.

"Well! That's an opening!" Edison says, boysterous, glad to not have to be a statesman for a single night.
Dorian Pavus     Low on mana? Well, if Cu has a way, Dorian might be able to help him there -- Veilfire, the bluish-green fire that almost every made from Thedas can produce, is pure mana. So if if he can figure out a way to absorb it...

Ah, but that can wait, with the option being given to Felt and/or Cu to expore the possibility at some later point. Right now, the assist with this castle. Er, well... manor. 'Chateau', if one really MUST call it by an Orlesian name.

Dorian isn't bothering to try to 'blend in' with the locals this time. He's in his light-colored leather armor with the metal accents, with his white cloak over it. And in his hand, the three-headed dragon staff.

And of course, he has something to say about it all. "Well, this is certainly a ''cheery'' scene, isn't it?" he replies. Of course he's being sarcastic; he fairly '''radiates''' snark. It's in his tone, his quirked eyebrow, his very stance.

But as he'd said on the radio, stealth is not his forte. Apparently it's not Seifer's either, since he starts the attack immediately. Following suit, Dorian dissolves into blue-white smoke and seems to blur forward, behind Seifer. If there's anything left of the knights after Seifer's strike and Edison's SHOCKING addendum, Dorian aims precise strikes with that staff at them. He's no squishy mage, and definitely has the strength to make physical strikes hurt.
Krusty     That guy with the glasses moves out from behind the tree he was using as a hiding place. He had been considering simply approaching the guards and speaking with them. It's unlikely they would have allowed the group to pass, but the conversation still might have produced some useful information. He had also considered bringing some Assassins in to deal with the guards quietly. Both plans are essentially moot at this point as Seifer goes ahead and initiates combat.

Krusty himself does not join the fight immediately, content for the moment to simply observe and also watch out for reinforcements or additional patrols. Getting flanked by adds can easily mean a wipe for the party.
Cu Chulainn Cu and Felt are definitely up to contributions for mana, though now's not the best time for it. Instead, they stand by as Seifer pitches his plan. When the group goes for the direct approach and goes running up, the knights turn in the direction of Maya first, sensing her before the group gets out of cover, the woman being a wellspring of mana. That means there's something special about these knights...

Who are attacked head-on! Seifer cleverly moves to strike the joints, but he doesn't strike flesh. It feels more like a liquid underneath all that armor, and while the gunblade shot is certainly destructive enough to be instant death for a human, whatever this is holds on to its last, moving to strike him with its sword even as it starts to collapse. The knight is faster than the armor has any right to be, some sort of strange enchantment and supernatural ability flowing through it.

Not that his blow doesn't kill it - it's a vicious blow and his skill is extreme. The knight collapses into a pile of armor, liquid shadow pooling out until it evaporates into black mist.

The other knight reacts rapidly. When Seifer moves to strike it, it manuevers in response, trying to block Seifer from hitting the joint as cleanly and just taking it out in one blow. However, Edison moves in to use DC-powered fisticuffs straight to its chest, electricty flowing through the metal into the liquid creature propping it up. The creature staggers, briefly trying to strike Edison in the shoulder before the electricity prevents it from moving, and if Seifer moves to finish it, or if Edison keeps up the electricity, and with a good thwack from Dorian and covering fire from Maya, it collapses as well.

No reinforcements come, oddly enough. Instead, the shadows grow thicker around them. Orchid's spiders would be able to pick up some data: there's a bunch of more knights inside, and when their brethern die, they all turn instantly to glance towards the castle gates, before moving back to react. They fill the halls, the different rooms, and such, and two places are heavily guarded - the basement, which has some sort of magical miasma over it making it difficult to see exactly what's inside there, and the master bedroom on the third floor, which has a similar miasma.

The basement might be a better (if more dangerous) choice to investigate first, because there's also strange noises coming from down there.

The castle doors creak open, widely. And then, they slam shut. Before creaking open again, and closing again, repeating until the group decides to approach the doors. It's like an invitation.

Or maybe a challenge.
Thomas Alva Edison     Edison tries to logic out the situation...shadows flowing everywhere...shadows in the armor...and a door flapping. Intelligence suggest more inside, and the only way in seems to be a entry into the basement. Edison knows it is a trap...and a dark house fueled with probably Shadow magic. Crouching for a moment, he pulls out some tools, and grabs a flashlight, and a piece of the armor. After a few moments, the armor is, somehow, grafted into the flashlight. He removes the light bulb, and replaces it with a LARGER CALIBUR bulb, able to withstand the FULL MIGHT OF DC CURRENT...and then he stands up.

Walking towards the basement, he grabs one of the doors, and flashes a light down it, by turning the flashlight on. It's bright as the sun, as Edison attempts to use the armor as a conductor with his mad science to create a hyper velocity DC powered Sunlamp, in the form of a Flash light.

    "Take that, dark corners."
Krusty     Krusty watches as the knights collapse into nothing, leaving behind only their armour. This definitely suggests something magical about them. Combined with the unusual display from the main doors, it would appear this castle is haunted. Of course, not in the sense of there being unexplainable sightings of ghostly figures. But there does appear to be someone, or something, controlling the house and its mystical guards.

Having no other course of action in mind, Krusty simply decides to accept the invitation. He draws the large two-handed axe from his back and makes his ways through opening and closing doors. He warns to the others, "Stick together and watch each other's backs. There's no telling what awaits us in this house." He joins the rest of the group in heading towards the basement.
Dorian Pavus     That was easy enough. Too easy. Once the darkness starts to gather again, Dorian tenses, as if expecting that something's going to come leaping out of it. When it doesn't, he frowns. And then the door starts opening and closing. "...If I didn't know better, I'd swear we were being made fun of," he comments. That door is far too much like an architectural raspberry.

But as others enter, he does as well. hopefully the door won't try to bang shut on one of them. Probably Dorian himself, if his luck runs true. The basement seems to be where everyone's heading towards, so again, he follows.

However, as Edison's making his own light, Dorian does as well. He channels magic into his staff, and a bluish-green flame springs to life between the three dragon heads. It's not as flashy as the superpowered flash light, but it should suffice to keep the shadows at bay. Hopefully.
Seifer Almasy      Killing ghosts makes Seifer feel a lot better. Killing anything makes Seifer feel a lot better, but killing things that aren't people is always nice. They're monsters. Monsters you don't have to wonder about right or wrong with, you just kinda murder them. He offers Edison a stern nod, because that guy did a hell of a trick, and then shoulders the gunblade.

People suggest the basement. Seifer agrees. He doesn't particularly like Krusty (NO, REALLY) but Krusty's right, and Seifer's a big enough man to agree with him. "You heard the guy," he says, snapping his fingers as he follows Edison in, taking up a position at point - because he's all melee and you probably want the melee guy at point. "Stick together."
Krusty     Krusty also takes up a place at the front of the group, what with his giant axe and giant armour. Of course, as the better man he's willing to share the position with Seifer.
Orchid      Orchid is following the others, hanging back a bit as she looks through her spiders. Oh, and light? Yeah, the gems on her chest are acting as headlights. "I've got my eyes on the knights," she adds. She pauses at the doors, hitting one with a hammer to get its resonant frequency.
Maya Maya has the full attention of the knights, she gets this look on her face, oh this so is not good. The Knights she will presume they will make for going after her first. She's right though in a way as Seifer gets locked into combat with one. She sees Edison also move in to use the power of DC-fisticuffs to engage another. She'll keep up the covering fire as they take them down and no more of their kind show up yet.

She takes a moment to recoup and look right at her party members for a moment then gets moving.

She'll fall in heading for the basement as well.

"Nice flashlight."

Maya notes to Lionheaded man, she grins a bit and will keep on moving while keeping attention. She pauses for a moment.

"Though it seemed like those knights focused on me for a moment, I got a bad feeling about that..."
Cu Chulainn The group decides to head for the basement. When they open the doors, there's a thick magical miasma straight ahead, some sort of fog that was dedicated to protect from scrying, which also makes it difficult to see at first, though the DC-powered sunlamp helps, as does traversing straight through it (the fog does not last for the whole basement trip). As they head downwards, they reach what seems to be a small library, stacked with old tomes on all sorts of magical subjects, with a pair of double doors near the back. There's no knights down here, and none pursuing them, which might be strange...

But there's noises coming from behind the double doors, as well as what sounds like someone speaking, or murmuring. Behind the double doors is the bulk of the basement, which when opened (or scryed into with spiders), reveals an interesting sight. It's a massive laboratory, full with equipment for chemicals and primarily, what seems to be magical genetics. Exiamination tools, cages of all sorts full of strange creatures, like spiders with the heads of dogs, bears with cat tails and wings, giant snakes with lion's feet and heads, and similar. Near the back of the lab, a young man with black hair and green eyes is feeding a dog with a spider's head and bat wings, giving it some sort of meat slab. "Ah, you're a good boy, aren't you? Hold on one second...we have guests."

The young man turns, dressed in a fine coat and pants, moving to speak to the group. "It seems the Association has finally arrived. As 'pleasant' as that is, I urge you to leave immediately. I'm currently focusing on my work, and I have so many chimeras to feed." He doesn't seem like he's going to attack on sight. In fact, the man doesn't seem afraid at all.

Felt doesn't know what to make of this, as Lancer grips his spear, but doesn't attack. He'll wait to see how the others react.
Orchid      Might as well try diplomacy. "Ah, no. That doesn't address the problem that brought us here," Orchid says. "There seems to be some nasty magical pollution coming out of this castle, and it's hurting people in the nearby town. Basically, that needs to stop."
Cu Chulainn The man just laughs. "I can't control that, I'm afraid. May I recommend they find somewhere else to live?" He glances over at his monsters, clearly wanting to get back to feeding them.
Krusty     Equipment to the contrary, Krusty too attempts the diplomatic approach. It has its uses, including gathering information. Orchid has already addressed the pollution issue, so Krusty touches on the other matter. He shifts his axe to rest over his should as he says, "We are also investigating the possibility of certain magical artifact use. Do you have, or are aware of, a 'Grail Fragment'?"
Orchid      Orchid looks over to Felt and Edison. "You two are locals, so what are the rules about people performing these sorts of things?" she asks, gesturing to encompass the chimeras and the magical miasma.
Maya They group heads down into the basement what they find when they open the door is some sort of miasma. She ponders for a second and looks at it thanks to the sunlamp and the power of DC? She's able to have an easier time to get moving through this place she takes a moment to look at the various tomes for a moment, she looks at the strange combination lifeforms and then to the young man she pauses for a moment.

"Wait are you saying your the Magus who was working the research here? We were informed he passed on due to old age. Are you an apprentice or aid of his?"
Thomas Alva Edison     Edison, sighs...of course, /Mages/. There is only one mage he has liked in his entire life...but then again, there is probable reason for this. Slowly, he walks towards the Young mage, looking down at him.

"Son, I urge you to reconsider. You are hurting people, causing problems for yourself. Your carelessness in this reguard is unconcinable. I will give you the chance to make this right, tell us the cause, and how to solve it, and we will leave...peacefully, from your domain to continue to make Chimeras." Edison does not focus on the or else part of this.

"However, we both know there is nothing to be gained by fighting each other. Let us be reasonable."
Dorian Pavus     Books are, of course, going to get Dorian's attention. There's rarely any place they don't. But particularly here, where the magic is thick enough to practically be able to cut it with a knife. This sort of research, with what must have been years of study behind it, is fascinating.

Since he's kind of a being of snark and sass, Dorian will let the others try to hammer out the legal stuff here. He's not familiar with the law, either. Besides that, he keeps getting distracted by things.
Cu Chulainn Felt replies over the radio to Orchid's question, that while the chimeras likely aren't illegal, but the miasma's a masquerade risk. The man, meanwhile, responds to the others talking to him.

"'Grail Fragment'?" He glances away at his monsters again, keeping up that 'impatient' look, though it also helps to mask his expression. "I've only heard of it vaguely. I can't help you."

And then, towards Maya. "I am Questiv Quentinus, and this is my home. How long is this going to take?"

And then, Edison steps up. Questiv stares up into his eyes. "No, there isn't anything gained. However, I cannot help you. There's no way to undo the miasma." Whether or not he's lying is unclear, but it seems that either way, he really doesn't want it to stop, anyways. "If the people avoid the range of the shadows, they will be fine. I'd suggest they evacuate immediately."
Thomas Alva Edison     Thomas Alva Edison stands before him.

"I will hear your explanation of why. Do not lie to me, sir, because I can tell when you are lying. I am Thomas Alva Edison, infused with the power of every US president." he says, taking a step near him. "I would, now, demand your explanation. Why is there a miasma, what is the cause...and WHY are you young?" He says, arms crossed.

"Also, remember...we would not be the first to come, even if you could drive us off. You would get no rest, no time to complete your studies. Being truthful is the only way to lead back to your life."
Seifer Almasy      Seifer, meanwhile, stands in the background and looks threatening, drumming Hyperion's extremely long blade against his shoulder with a wide and menacing grin.

He's very good at standing in the background and Looking Threatening. He basically wrote the book on it at Garden.
Orchid      Orchid is letting Edison handle this part. He has more local authority, now that Orchid managed to head off a battle by starting the talking. Okay, so the battle might still happen, but.
Cu Chulainn Questiv sighs as Edison confronts him. He seems really annoyed. "Fine, you've left me with no choice. If this is the only way I can return to my research, I'll take it." He turns as he's going to step forward, hands open wide and unthreatening...and then the shadow nearby lashes out. It doesn't move to attack, instead, it whips towards the various crates, whipping open their lcoks and releasing the beasts. Creatures composed of lions, cats, dogs, bears, reptiles of all sorts, they come forth, as Questiv speaks up.

"Kill them. This is the only way I can survive." Questiv says towards the beasts. He doesn't move to cower, or flee, or even really out of the way. He could super easily be struck down right here and now. Though, that may be difficult, seeing as everyone gets chimeras lunging at them, knocking over tables and equipment and moving to try and split them up and, well, eat them.
Thomas Alva Edison     Edison looks around...the room filling up around them with Chimera's.

"I have a question. Are they all combined together by magic?"
Cu Chulainn Felt responds to Edison quickly. "I think it's a mix of biology and magic! Breeding and all that. If you're going to do what I think you're going to do...it should probably have some sort of effect!"
Thomas Alva Edison     Edison's eyes twinkle.

"I see..." He says, and then takes a step forward. There is a flash...and then...

A Giant spotlight takes form of the entire ceiling, shining down as SOMEHOW, in the room Edison reappears, standing on top of...

    EDI

    SON

19th Century

With a massive roar, a wave of his NOBLE PHANTASM strikes out. A field of antimagic is shined down by the light, and all of those in the barrier are enhanced by this antimagic power, enough to boost their power against a magician...and of course, magic in the field that isn't his, or an allies, isn't going to happen without destroying the light.

"Now, if you care to rephrase what you just said?"
Orchid      "Well, at least he gave us time to talk, clearly confirming his own nature," Orchid says, hands snapping up as she deploys her energy shields. The fact that her abilities are the result of technology means they get a little boost from the patron saint of 'things that go ping' doing his thing next to her. "Glad Thomas is on my side," she muses.
Krusty     Krusty was honestly not expecting any confession from this man about having a Grail Fragment. But when trying to acquire information from people, how they say something can often be more important than what they actually say. The combination of claiming to be Questiv Quentinus, claiming no way to reverse the miasma, and claiming no connection to a Grail Fragment make it fairly obvious that none of it's true.

Krusty was intending to continue the investigation of the house by heading for the master bedroom. However before he has a real chance to actually move, 'Questiv' unleashes his chimeras on them.

Krusty quickly brings his large axe around in front of him, just as some sort of winged crocodile with the tail of a snake lunges at him. Krusty manages to intercept the large snapping jaws with the staff of his weapon. Happy to briefly let the creature gnaw on the weapon, Krusty admits, "Interesting creatures."

Leveraging his Adventurer-enhanced strength against the large chimera, Krusty spins his axe to fling the creature off it, before bringing it up and swinging down to attempt to take off the creature's head in one massive blow.
Dorian Pavus     The snarls, growls, and other weird noises one would expect chimeras to make are definitely enough to bring Dorian's attention back to the here and now. As soon as he sees what's befallen them, he frowns. "...Well, that figures," he mutters, practically under his breath.

The first thing, he figures, is to get some protection from the varied forms of damage these things might deal. So he utters a Word, and then quickly spreads his hands out, until his arms are almost straight out, then raises his hands up.

It's a Barrier spell, aimed where it might be able to offer the most people in the room some more protection. Hopefully neither his Barrier nor Edison's Noble Phantasm interfere with each other. Honestly, even if it does, it should be fine; Dorian's Barriers are nothing compared to Edison's Noble Phantasm. But if not, hey -- every little bit helps, right?
Seifer Almasy      Edison does his thing.

Seifer's seen a Noble Phantasm before, of course. He's seen his wife's, and he's stolen Nero's. This is kind of different. It's big and flashy and shiny and *awesome*. This is what he expects from legendary heroes, from this kind of thing. Seifer's lips split in a wide grin as Edison shines down on the battlefield.

"Shit, I want one of those."

Seifer swings his gunblade twice at the ground, carving a deep divot in the floor as he walks forward into the light. As soon as he steps into it, Gilgamesh is forced out of him, and everyone gets a look at the tall, grey, translucent, red-cloaked, three-armed (with three cardboard arms on the other side) giant. Gilgamesh stares, bangs on the light like a mime, then shrugs and produces coffee and donuts. Spectral coffee and donuts.

     Best...not to ask.

Seifer doesn't slow down. He actually speeds up. The gunblade spins in his hand. "My legend's already started, but I'll give you a taste! I'm Seifer Almasy! The man who's gonna rewrite Caster's love story! The man who's gonna become a Heroic Spirit! You better remember it - and when you get to Hell you tell 'em who sent you!"

Seifer lunges into the fray. He is *stupid* talented. Even without Gilgamesh, even without his superhuman skill, his body is a whirl of activity. His blade flashes left and right with incredible grace. There's not an ounce of movement wasted, not an ounce passed. He redirects attacks back into his attackers with nothing but a gunblade over the shoulder. He parries attacks he shouldn't be able to parry, firing the gunblade to give it enough kick to intercept attack. Seifer and the gunblade are united, one and the same, and even without superhumanity, it's really hard to tell that Seifer /isn't/ superhuman.
Maya Maya once worked a long time ago with a certain magus hunter. She knows how bad things have god as the creatures come at them she feels pity for them, not less for their master. the then sees what Edison does his thing, his power. She's never seen a servant do something quite like this, it's almost like a Terran movie starting up for a moment. Maya meanwhile is moving to pull out some cards, yes cards. they glow for a moment and she channels a chain of paralyzation spells on the inbound horde of creatures trying to slow them down, maybe even paralyze them if she's lucky.

"Look give it up here, you are outgunned!"

Then theres Dorin who gives her some very nicely timed protection in the form of a barrier spell of some sort, which saves her having to spend more time setting up her own. Which she is quite thankful for evne as Seifer moves on in, and fights almost like a Holy Guardsman in terms of how he's moving.
Orchid      Orchid accepts one of the doughnuts Gilgamesh offers, but skips the coffee. She's only sparing one hand from being a shield. "Wow, between the two of them... yeah, Seifer is good at this, and Edison can command a battlefield."
Cu Chulainn Questiv doesn't respond any further. He doesn't really have a chance. World Faith Domination is ridiculously powerful, and the magical light seems to affect him as well. He screams in pain, becoming all 'blotchy' as his body, which turns out to be made of the same shadow as the knights, starts to melt a little. "My creations! Damn you, damn you!" And then, 'Questiv Quentinus' melts. But it doesn't fix the problem. The castle's still horribly haunted.

The chimeras, meanwhile, start to melt as well. They become sluggish as they attack, though they still can, but a mix of paralysis, getting beaten with axes and gunblade and ridiculous skill, and the fact that they're literally coming apart at the seams from World Faith Domination makes short work of them. The room goes silent, soon after.

Until either they leave back to the library, or World Faith Domination wears off. Then, the mansion decides to rebel. Equipment goes flying at them with lashes of shadow, tables go smashing forward, bookshelves are knocked over, anything to impede or injure them. The stairs creak and start to give way as they head upwards, and the fog grows unbearable.

Castle Quentinus is rebelling. As they get back into the lobby, more things are flung at them, and there's already a pair of knights waiting, moving to attack immediately, fighting quickly and rapidly. With the furniture, the thick fog and darkness, and the knights, they might want to clear them out and figure out a plan before regrouping and heading up, where there's certain to be many more threats!
Orchid      Orchid scarfs the doughnut as quickly as possible as the building starts going wild. Fun. She's still got her shields and will be using them to shelter herself from the attacks. She's also using her dash boots to move around more quickly, blowing past the knights in a way that MIGHT distract them long enough for her allies to cut them down faster.
Krusty     Krusty rests his axe on his shoulder once more as the chimera he had slain breaks apart before him. Glancing to the side, Krusty sees the same thing happening to 'Questiv'. Once the room has cleared, Krusty hmmms, "So the man was just a projection. Perhaps of the real Questiv in the bedroom? It would make sense if his age has left him unable to leave the bed."

Krusty takes one more look at the laboratory for any obvious signs of whatever might be a Grail Fragment. Though he suspects that if such an object is in use, it'll probably be found close to the mastermind of this plot. The armored Adventurer then leaves, beginning to head back up into the house.

To be suddenly assaulted by household items is yet more evidence of the house's haunting. To the point that Krusty thinks it's starting to get a little to cliche. Fortunately most of it just bounches harmlessly off his armour. The larger furniture is met by his axe to be smashed or cleaved in two, as he makes his way towards the other location of interest: The master bedroom.

Upon reaching the lobby and seeing the knights waiting for them, Krusty doesn't even take a moment to pause. He dashes forward, cloak billowing out behind him as he moves to meet the first knight's weapon with his own. Parrying it to the side with skill, he quickly follows up with a powerfully accurate blow that could very well rend their armour and split the shadow within.

Wary of what their foe has planned for them, Krusty cautions the others, "We can't delay for too long!"
Thomas Alva Edison     The Chimera die, as his allies move to finish off the ghosts, Edison looks at the fading ghost man. "It did not have to be this way, but now that you have made it..." He says, shaking his head.

The spotlight fades, and then, of COURSE, the house tries to fight them. Edison gets a flower vase to the head as they head upstairs, caught in it for a moment before pulling it off with a THUMP and tossing it to the side. He does not look happy, especially as that vase still had water in it.

Edison's boxing gloves come back on, as he starts engaging knights that try and stop them with FISTICUFFS, shocking them with ELECTRIC FIGHTING STYLES.

"I agree with you! Let us not dally!"
Seifer Almasy      The house is fighting back.

     THE HOUSE IS FIGHTING BACK.

An ordinary, sane, well-adjusted human being would find this terrifying. Most heroes would probably find this dangerous. Most people would move for a tactical retreat.

Seifer Almasy Is Loving This Shit.

As the spotlight fades, Gilgamesh comedically dodges several flying vases and dives back into Seifer, vanishing with a red ripple. Seifer, for his part, immediately gets noticably faster, noticably more graceful, noticably more...*spowerful*. He cuts through tables, he carves through bookshelves, and he grins a wild and delighted grin at everything. "Hell yes! This is more like it! Come on, bring it-"

     Everybody's leaving.

Seifer groans, the gunblade sinking to his side as he takes a hit across the face from a chair. He coughs, wiping his mouth; there's blood in there, he can taste it. He steps back. "Come ON," he mutters, "You people run at the drop of a goddamn hat."

They're going up to the Master Bedroom, and Seifer supposes he can't fault that logic (though he'd like to, because it's Krusty's plan and he doesn't like Krusty). He hurries up after them, gunblade over his shoulder. Seifer leaves the others to deal with the Knights - he's got his eye on the Grail Fragment, for Reasons.

His foot snaps outwards to smash open the Master Bedroom door with a superhuman blow. "You guys hold 'em there! I'm gonna go fuck this guy up!"
Maya The creatures and the man? If they were a man even, to begin with, are undone by Edison's Noble Phantasm. She watches for a moment as things finally come to an end, well she thinks. Then the house starts to come to life and fight them? Oh, this is bad they need to get going.

"It is time to leave!"

Maya seem in full agreement with the haul tail party, which she's keen on doing. She will turn tail and start to shoot at anything that comes after her or her allies. They need to get out of the basement, now.
Cu Chulainn The house fights back, but the heroes fight better. Electrified fists and giant axes and magical bullets fly at the knights, who are distracted by Orchid's speed. They're torn down to armored piles, though probably not without getting some good swings on the party.

The party has a few moments of breather, since the foyer isn't attacked against after that, though the upper floors aren't safe. The master bedroom is up on the third floor, and there's two staircases (on either side of the house)...but there's certainly going to be some problems for just rushing to the top. Hopefully, though, they can stop whatever's haunting Castle Quentinus and find the Grail Shard, one way or another.
