Twilight Sparkle      Things are a bit busy today in Ponyville. It is only a couple of days until Spellcrafters Day, and even though it is a day honoring unicorns and magic all the ponies are putting up various decorations. Mostly star-themed and glitter-laden streamers in various pastel and gold colors. Although most ponies are decorating just their front doors or windows, Twilight Sparkle is helping to put up the town decorations on lamposts and things. As usual, her number one assistant Spike is helping her. Currently they are near the fountain in the town square, and Twilight is holding Spike aloft with her magic while he puts a large unicorn horn into place on the pony statue.

"How's that?" the purple dragon asks, putting his hands on his hips to admire his work. "...A little to the left." Twilight says, causing Spike to roll his eyes a bit and adjust the horn. "...nnnoooow back to the right just a bit." This proceeds for a while...
Mairead Sandilands     Mairead was at the IS Academy relaxing and reading a good book, when she received an email on assistance form her friends in Ponyville. Thinking, she came to assist and when she arrived saw the makings of a party "What is goingon?" she asks as she did not get affected by properties of Equestria. As she stands there in her Academy Fuku, she walks around and looks at everything and blinks. "Spellcrafters Day? What is that?" she says as she reads the sign.
Twilight Sparkle      "It's a day celebrating the unicorns and magic." Twilight says as Mairead approaches. "Each pony race has its own day, and in two days it is Spellcrafters Day! The ponies of Ponyville quite enjoy these celebrations since Ponyville has roughly equal populations of all three pony races. Not to mention there is always plenty of food and fun!"

Spike is still floating there trying to get the horn right. "Come on Twilight, this has to be good enough." he says, to which Twilight blinks before smiling. "Yes, that will do. Thank you, Spike." Twilight says before lowering the little dragon to the ground. He grabs the handle of a nearby little wooden wagon and pulls it toward one of the lamp posts before Twilight lifts him up so he can put a multi-pointed, spherical star on top of it. "Did you come to help us out?" Twilight asks Mairead.
Mairead Sandilands     Blinks as she hears Twilight and looks at Spike, "Oy, ye are a cutie," she says as she kneels and watches him walk off. "Aye, I came to assist. I got an email that help was needed," she adds as she walks over to Twilight. "How are ye doing. Ye are ... Twilight right? Ye sound familiar, I think we talked when the Union was still together," she comments as she looks. "So this is sort of like a big birthday celebration?" she asks as she ponders "How can I help?"
Twilight Sparkle      Spike blinks as he is called a cutie and blushes a bit before standing proud. Just before he floats off the ground thanks to Twilight. Twilight smiles as she is recognized and nods. "That's me! And you are? I hope you'll forgive me, but the Union feels like it disappeared ages ago now and I haven't had much contact with the outside world since." she says. The comparison to a birthday party makes Twilight ponder a moment. "I suppose in some ways it is, but rather than receiving presents unicorns tend to give out small gifts instead. If you would like to help, you can wind some streamers around the lampposts here in the town square."

Twilight looks Mairead over, then hmms. "I take it you did not feel like having the complete pony experience?" she asks with a smile.
Mairead Sandilands     Blinks as she looks, "Oh, me name is Mairead, pleasure to meet ye. And not this time. I did that once, we ... interesting," she states as she stands and looks at the streamers and smiles as she walks over and begins to wrap streamers. As she wraps she thinks, "Aye, a lot has changed. After the union broke up and the Confederation, there ar enotfour groups. The Paladins, The Watch, Concord and the Syndicate," she states. "Alot of those in the Union are in all the factions, but most I think are in the Paladins and the Watch. I am not sure on the COnfederation, Nagato would be better to answer that. I know little on the factions. me schooling keeps me busy, plus I was out of it for six months." and she looks down. "And some family issues," and she thinks as she works.
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight Sparkle nods as she listens. "Yes...I was quite worried when the great cataclysm happened. But, most of the reports I received said that just facilities and factions were lost, not people. I tried to keep track of my friends, and it seems that they ended up in all kinds of factions. I am just hoping that it doesn't bring them into conflict with each other. Or...with me. I joined the Paladins recently, and while I know that none of the factions are at war like the old superfactions...I do worry."

She then looks over at Mairead. "I hope your family issues turn out alright. I haven't had many, but when family issues do come up it can be quite stressful." It doesn't take very long to get all the posts in the town square decorated, and when they are done each looks like a shooting star with a sparkling comet tail. "What do you think?"
Mairead Sandilands     Mairead nods to Twilight, "It is beautiful," she says to her. "And me family is ok now. I see them once a year and never talk to them," and she goes silent. "Aye, those I know or met within the Union are here, but I did not meet many." and she thinks. "So this celebration is for those that have magic like the fae?" she asks as she helps with clean up.
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight considers that question, then gives a light shrug and a smile. "I an not sure, honestly. I would have to see one of these fae use their magic to know for sure. But, magic seems pretty similar regardless of the world. I think the main difference is that things like fire and lightning spells are highly uncommon in Equestria. Nearly all our spells are telekinetic-based, whether it is fixing something with magic or firing a beam of energy." Twilight blinks, then giggles. "Sorry, I guess that isn't what you asked. Basically, yes. This is a celebration of unicorns and magic, since unicorns are the race usually credited with having 'magic', though each race has magic in its own way. It is just that unicorns have active magic rather than passive magic."
Mairead Sandilands     Chuckling, Mairead looks, "Where I am from, me culture call those who use magic as fae or faries. SOme are witches that do things to hurt people and most are treated as that. However, in me time, Magic is mainly in stores, movies and for entertainment. If magic exists in me world, it is never shown. Me world is more technological." and she sits down, "I have seen some magic since being here, but it is not that much. I try to not get near it, magic could be dangerous."
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight's ears splay sadly a bit as Mairead says all that. "Well...magic can be dangerous of course, but it isn't inherently dangerous. Like any tool, it is all about how it is used and who uses it." she says. Then she frowns. "I am sad to hear that there are worlds where magic has been misused so much that it is feared and shunned." She shakes her head, then smiles a bit. "I would be happy to give a magic display on your world to show that magic isn't bad and can be used for good things."
Mairead Sandilands     Smiles, "Aye, I think that would be a good idea." and she ponders. "In me worlds history, the Church was the main source of information for a very long time. If ye did not foloow God, ye were treated as someone who was evil and of course all of those who did not understand treated those who were different as evil or along those lines," and she closes her eyes. "In me country, if ye were uncanny in something, finding love, or did things that were not normal, ye were a witch," and she thins. "For example, if ye were a lad and wanted a lass, but you knew ye woul not get her. Ye could go see someone for a charm to provide you luck to getting what ye wanted. If that was known as to how you got her, the person who gave you the charm was a Witch. And from there, it just went in all directions. In the United states, many were killed or burnt. and they were considered assisted by the Devil."

"In the history of Scotland, there were druids who helped and provided guidance to the chiefs of the clans and than the Church came and adapted many of those traditions as their own and over time, it just went out of memory. But when I hear ont he radio it varioes form world to world." and she looks up at the stars. "In some, I would be considered a witch due to what I can do, yet I have no magic ability."
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight smiles happily as Mairead says she likes the idea, then her ears perk as she listens to at least part of the history of magic on Mairead's world. "I see...so magic was often considered evil in all its forms. But to be burned merely because you practiced magic..." Twilight shakes her head. Then smiles a bit as she hears there is at least one instance of good magic in Mairead's history. "Druids. I will have to learn a bit more about them." she says, then tilts her head. "Why would you be considered a witch?"
Mairead Sandilands     Thinks, "Cause I have technology that on osme worlds they do not have, and thus witchcraft," and she holds out a hand and summons a Scottish longsword. "For those that did not know, I just used magic to summon a weapon," and she thinks and it disappears. "I can summon armor and othe rweapons, plus I am linked to the various radios of the Multiverse, and can see the different aspects of the area" and she looks. "I cna pinpoint all those in Ponyville, the temp and weather." and she shrugs, "I can fly as well."
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight blinks in surprise at the sudden appearance of the sword, then nods lightly as she listens. "And...just being able to do those things would qualify as witchcraft, which would be worthy of capital punishment?" she asks, sounding completely baffled by all of it. She shakes her head again before thinking about it. "...I have seen some of the same sort of things here, I guess. But nothing on such a drastic scale. Usually it is more about the individual than the magic used."
