Pippi     Hot time! Summer in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirty, gritty!

Hunts Point isn't one of the nicer parts of the city; recent initiatives have helped a lot, but sometimes you have to do more, spend more money -- and when people say there's nothing there worth saving?

    "HELP ME!"

... sometimes people fall through the cracks.

A kid is seen fleeing, skidding around and taking a short stop, breathless. He has a backpack with a local charter school's emblem on it, pants that might have seen better days and glasses held together with medical tape across the nose. He's coughing, short of breath as he gives chase after a taller, leaner kid, holding what looks like a laptop back.

"GIVE IT BACK! It's not even MINE!" the kid calls out, coughing and sputtering as he slows down, eyes wide with fear.

THe taller, lean youth gives a wolfish grin, and a couple other older teens make their way from behind dumpsters and trash piles, some of them sporting brilliant purple bandanas and dragons emblazoned on T-shirts and skin alike.
Alden Hotdogs! A small, weird yellow and bluish creature is walking down the road, eating a hotdog hungrily, and holding a second one on his free hand, while his Shinki partner perches on his shoulder. "How can you eat those, I heard they are made of bad things." she mumbles, her cat ears drooping and making a gagging gesture. The digimon just chuckles, "That's just a myth.".
He finishes the half eaten one in a single bite, licks his lips, and considers starting with the second, when he sees the conmotion!. "Is that Nicky?" he asks, and then... it happens, "Yep." he answers himself, before noticing just what was going on, rushing ahead... not that he is too intimidating, "Hey, what's going on?" he barks at the group of kids, while Katze giggles a bit, and moves to inspect the huge plush.
Nicky It's a day of for Nicky. A day off from training, training, more training and more training. So the young woman took the chance to take a stroll off the training grounds. Having 'exchanged' a bit of currency from a different pocket into hers, she is jsut smiling happlily in her stroll...

As she is almost run over by the other thief, just some seconds before he turns into the side alley with the trash containers. Not that the bump into her would do much or even stop the laptop thief - it is just clearly a bit troublesome for Nicky, who is so surprised, that she looses control.

        PLOPP

And gone is Nicky, replaced by a cloud of turqouis mist while the thief and his persuer passes around the corner to meet the gang. Just behind his back, the mist expends rapidly, then solidifies into a 7 foot Snorlax stuffie, falling backwards with a heavy thump, the thick arms flailing. Great start for a day out, isn't it? Blocking a poor kid in a bully arena?
Corona Arclite The Brimsteel Expedition had hit another lull for her while it was mainly the surveying crews working, so Corona had decided to go bother some of her otherworldly friends instead. You know, after grabbing an extra duster jacket to use as a 'disguise' since it was big enough to keep most of her other vulpine features hidden and tuck her ears under her hat.

But being tucked under a stetson didn't keep those sharp ears from picking up the sounds of someone shouting in distress from, by her quick estimate, a few blocks over. Welp, sounds like visiting hours are going to have to wait a bit. Or not, considering how some of her friends are attracted to danger, maybe she'll run into them. Either way.

Corona shuffles into an alley where she's not easy to spot, grabs a fire scape to hoist herself off street level, and then use one of her grappler chains to reel herself to the rooftops so she can cut across a few blocks all parkour style.

It's New York. The city is probably use to weirdos traveling this way by now, isn't it?
Pippi     Gone is Nicky. The giant fluff of stuff makes its way, blocking a poor, scared kid who just *really* wanted the school laptop back. He gives a cry out as he jumps backwards, against the fluff of the light, half-sized plushie snorlax and he looks very, very confused. He steps backwards and breathes out, gasping for breath at the edge of an asthma attack.

The four Purple Dragons, on the other hand, look very, very bewildered at the sudden appearance of a large stuffed animal.

"Hey, man, we didn't sign on for any of this hocus pocus bs." One states, sneering at the group as he lifts up a baseball bat and goes to take a swipe at the nerd!.

Corona might see a familiar shape, though not familiar coloring. Well, familiar if you consider 'dogs' and 'foxes' familiar. Minus the floppy ears and the wild hair and the coloring.

Okay. Pippi doesn't look a thing like Alopex.

She does, however, hop down semi-gracefully from roof to fire escape to ground behind the group.

"Hey! I think I know you! Don't you play for the Yankees?" comes a rather childish voice. Standing behind them, crouched in the 'superhero landing' position was a dog. Wearing an I 8 NY T-shirt and tactical fatigues. She has the biggest, friendliest grin on her face, bisected red and white, wild hair reflecting a severe case of hood head. And on her back she has a crowbar.

    "Maybe benched for bad behavior?"
Pippi     THe group turns between the sudden arrival of a weird little dog, and then a weird little... ... large wolflike creature? They glance at one another a moment in confusion.

Meanwhile, nerd kid is hurriedly taking his inhaler, his eyes as wide as saucers.
Nicky Nicky Hates uch situations. Plushed out, on the back, seeing something only in upside down and getting trampled onto the head doesn't make a happy stuffie. Fighting her way back to her feet she turns slowly... well, almost like a real snorlax would be slow. Just she is only half size and less heavy. And mute. No annoying Snorlax Snorlax snorlax, just a disconcearning mute, slowly failing stuffed animal turning around to look at the group of "dragons" like a menance.

Two points proved today: Plushies moving on their own can look super creepy... and plushies can at least try to throw an evil eye, at least if one could read plushie mimic. Just... would be more imposing if the earth would shake... and that can't this 7 foot plushie do, because lack of weight.
Alden Katze seems to get an idea when Nicky starts to get up, clearing her throat loudly, "What is going on?" she bellows, in a deep voice, trying to make it sound as if the huge plush beast was speaking, "Bad boys, leave that kid alone!" Alden just blinks for a moment and focuses on the kids, letting out a... kind of cute growl, hard to be intimidating at his side, even as he walks around and near Pippi, he almost looks like Pippi's puppy or something. "Yeah, stop threatening that kid."
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite stops at the end of a rooftop, bracing the notch of a boot against the corner of the raised edge to brace herself as she leans forward just enough to glance down. Not really any familiar faces... but knowing what she does from this world from Rebound and her other foxy friend, it's not hard to surmise the dog-girl is another mutant. And bandanas are a telltale sign of trouble, even if they're worn around foreheads instead of over mouths.

"Ah reckon it don't matter what world ya go to, there's always banditos causin' trouble for the civil folks." The coattails of the duster give a dramatic flap behind her, moreso from her tail flicking out from under it than any convenient breeze. There's a poof from within one sleeve as she fires the grappler downwards again, then leaps off the rooftop herself.

The grappler comes at an angle to grab one of the Purple Dragon's by his clothing, and then catch across the top of a streetlight so as Corona drops down, the counter-balance hefts the punk off his feet.

"Now y'all might wanna give the kid back whatever ya took and then skedaddle." Pause for dramatic effect. "Before Ah gotta turn this into a proper hangin'."

Not that she would actually hang some city street thug, but they don't know that now do they?
Pippi     "Ah... actually hanging isn't --" Pippi begins, and then she glances around. A big ol' thing moving on its own, the wolf creature, and the Drawlin' figure above, and she sheepishly says, "I'd do what she says."

The figures all look at the Snorlax. They look at the dog and the little wolf creature before they just... ahnd the laptop bag to the kid, and siiiddle their way out of the alley. The kid accepts the bag, glances all around him, murmurs a quiet 'thanks!' -- and then skeedaddles right after the teens!

Leaving all the extrodinary figures in the alleyway.

The canine straightens up, and using the hook of her crowbar scratches at an itch on the back of her head while looking all around, quietly regarding everyone here.
Alden The small... dog? looks up at the new voice, blinking a bit as he looks at the grappler, about to bring up the 'hanging might be too much' bit, but suddenly goes silent, might work scaring those guys!. He checks on the poor 'nerd', "Are you ok?" he asks, before watching him get out. "I think you should all just leave." he mentions to the 'dragons'
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite retracts the grappler again once the punks run off for the alleys. "Thank t'stars they act'ally listened." One up on the outlaws back home at least. "Though looks like one of em fergot their plush." Followed by a glance in the direction of the dog and the dog-lizard. The fox shakes her head a bit. "Nup. Still not the weirdest thin's Ah've ever seen."
Pippi     Pippi continues to sit a moment, looking between the giant plush, the wolf-lizard, the figure in the trench coat and then she reaches up, rubs the back of her head and squeaks out:

"So... I'm Pippi. And that's never happened before."
Alden Alden grins adn tilst his head a bit, approaching Pippi first, since she wasthe closest, "Hey Pippi." he offers, his tail wagging, "Nice to meet you!" he says, before turning to glance at the fox person, tilting his head a bit, "I'm Alden." he adds, realizing he did not mention hsi name before. "And that's Katze." he adds, pointing to the rather tiny catgirl perched on Nicky's shoulders while the plush moved, making growl noises.
Alopex     Purple Dragons? Again? Why does it seem like everything comes back to that problematic gang? Sometime soon, they will probably need to be dealt with. For now, however, a chance to see a certain someone in action was worth tailing. However, when all manner of multiversal denizens show up, the exercise is somewhat compromised.

Hardly matters, her heart was in the right place.

Glancing to the new comers, one after another, Alopex's stoic mask actually cracks slightly when a familiar faces arrives. One, two she knows. Two she doesn't. A chance to make some allies? Not something to miss.

"You'll be saying that a lot, the more you see in the multiverse," comes a voice all to familiar to Pippi, but not so much everyone else. "Seems we have a bit more company than normal for a night out with the dragons. Why don't you all come over here so we can talk?" Then to Pippi. "You did well, you know."
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite pinches the brim of her hat in a slight forward tip to the canine woman. "Corona Arclite, at yer service. Though Ah just happened to be wanderin' by lookin' fer visitin' some friends when Ah heard the shoutin' over he--"

Cue the other fox finally making her appearance. "--Speakin' of."
Pippi     "I didn't do anything!" Pippi states, just this side of complaining, "I showed up and they scared the sh-not outta 'em!" Pippi correts herself, standing up straight, and then, remembering her manners, she makes a hasty bow to the assembly "It-is-a-pleasure-to-meet-you-how-do-you-do!" she states quickly, her ears going back a little bit as she turns to Alopex, looking to see if she did all right. She gives a slight huff of breath, her wild hair going this way and that.
Alden Alden tries to be polite of course, bowing back to Pippi and the rest, a bit curious about the arrivals, seems they know eachother!. He finally walks next to Nicky, and tries to get Katze to climb down, before joining Alopex and the rest. He seems curious at Pippi's complaining, "Well, at least the kid got away safely."
Corona Arclite "Hopefully the li'l encounter scared some of em straight... Though guess Ah wouldn't bet too hard on it." Corona shrugs a little with the mutter as she ambles after the others as Alopex indicates someplace a little less in obvious view. "They's just as likely to hurt 'emselves gettin into trouble as they are someone else."
Alopex     "You did fine, despite what happened Pippi. You kept your ears out, nose down, found a problem, and moved to solve it, and it was solved. You got unexpected help, but that's a good coincidence, rather than something to be upset about. Sometimes you just get lucky. Not often, but it can happen," she explains to the pup before holding out a hand to Corona. "Nice to see you again, Corona," she greets before turning to the others. "And too each of you, welcome to our New York City. It can be 'interesting'. We have some of the best food around, however."
Pippi     Pippi gives a soft 'heh' sound and rubs the back of her head with the end of her crowbar, and she exhaustedly just flops back in defeat. "I will try harder to be thankful for not having to fight the Purple Dragons." she states sternly, like a kid repeating something by rote, and she gives another look up to Corona.
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite grabs Alopex's hand and gives it a good ol' shaking. She may not be very big herself but she's got one heck of a grip from all the rough work she does. "Pfff. Bit bigger than the towns Ah'm use to, but not much weirder." Pause. Thoughtful cant of her head afterwards. "Okay maybe just weird it its own ways though."
Alden Alden grins a bit to Alopex's comment, "I am used to weird, really." he says with a chuckle, before moving to check on Pippi, "Are you ok?"
Pippi     "'M not okay. I'm Pipp-- oh. You mean like okay okay?" Pippi inquires, and sits back up. Her tail wags brightly, sweeping the alley behind her as she shrugs. "I'm okay! I like being the good guy, but with all of them scared it didnt work out so well for the combat training." she gives a grin. "Pex is always lookin' out for me."
Alden Alden grins to Pippi, "Well, if you need someone to spar with, or practice stuff, I can offer to help, it's always good to be in shape." he says, wagging his own tail and moving to pat the huge 'dog' on the side, while the Shinki giggles, "In shape, you just eat meat and use your power." she teases.
Alopex "Not everything has to be combat training, Pippi. It's like the control drills you'll be doing. As long as you are putting in the effort, you're doing well." Back to Corona. "Mm, I seem to remember hearing your home is a bit more 'rough around the edges' than here. By a lot." Thoughtful pause. "We should visit, sometime." Back to Pippi, "What do you think?" Then she looks back at Alden again. "As for introductions, I'm Alopex, and I've been training Pippi, here. She's been doing very well."
