Tomoyo Daidouji     The Council Building is usually relatively quiet whenever there's not a big public meeting scheduled to happen. The tall structure usually sees the various politicians working on whatever schemes they want to run past OMNI to make life in the city better.

But this is not a usual day.

All politicians are being advised to stay in their offices as security forces attempt to deal with an apparent threat. A golden-haired woman, last seen at the previous public meetings, wants to see the Head Chancellor, and was denied with the typical response of 'please make an appointment.'

And now she's shoving her way past anyone who tries to get in her way, all the way up to the fourth floor where the head offices are located. Several more guards fling themselves at her, trying to restrain her physically, when the office she needs is right there!
Yang Xiao Long     Yang has been /very/ restrained! She's not even using Ember Celica! See, she's not punching these people with explosions... but that's probably little consolation, given she put that one guy straight through a wall. "You guys just don't want to listen do you? I've gotta see the chancellor and OMNI right now, I can't /wait/ for an appointment, cuz then it'll be," she ducks under one guard, hurling him over her shoulder with a quick bullcharge. "too," half turn, elbow in the solar plexus, then quick leg sweep. "LATE!" She just lets all the impact stress bleed off in a kinetic surge that makes the entire building shudder slightly, using the raw outpouring of force to floor the remaining guys with a slam of her fists together.... which also causes the light spectrum to briefly cease existing before it snaps back. Mmm, I can taste the blue.

She takes a second to breathe, and get herself in check, before heading to the office, and then, politely, knocking on the door. "Chancellor, I'm not normally this pushy, but you really need to hear this. Link OMNI in too, cuz it involves them as well." she says, through the door.
Tomoyo Daidouji     THUD! Goes the first guy, slamming into a wall. OOF! Goes the second as he crumples into a breathless heap. AIEE! Goes the final crowd as Yang just slams her fists together to send them flying with the force of it.

The polite knock she gives upon the office door makes it a farcical scene as guards groan on the floor behind here. There is a long, pregnant pause where the possibility of punching the door down might have to e considered. But eventually, it swings open on its own.

The Grand Chancellor is a man pushing his 60s or so, wearing his bald crown proudly and making up for it with a magnificent, trimmed beard. He sits behind his desk, which also displays that hologram of OMNI. For a brief instant, Yang's image shimmers within the waveform globe before disappearing.

"What is it, young lady?" the man asks as he checks over the Hunter's shoulder to look at what she's left in her path. "What is so important that you had to fight your way here without an appointment?
Yang Xiao Long     Yang sighs, eyes closed for a moment after the door opens. "I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't a matter of great importance, Chancellor." she says, stepping inside to stand in front of the desk. "If you'll remember what I said during the post-Taint meeting, that humanity won't be suppressed forever and will fight to break free? That's happening. Right now. I can't give details, I don't know them, but a group of citizens contacted the organization I work for, The Watch, to help them destroy one of OMNI's server farms, because they're not happy with how long things are taking." She leans on the desk. "I don't want anyone getting hurt over this, not on this side, or on theirs." she does spare a look out at the writhing, pained forms of the guards outside. "Not any more than they already have been, anyway."
Tomoyo Daidouji     The elderly man's face falls as Yang lays out her reasons for being here. OMNI's hologram begins to flicker as it computes what she has said, cross-referencing it, scouring its databases. "I see... so we can expect an attack, one involving Elites." He swivels his chair and addresses OMNI. "How long until you have completed your considerations regarding the removal of the art ban, OMNI." The hologram whirls for a moment before answering. "Seven months, twelve days, sixteen hours, thirty-seven minutes and nine seconds."

The Chancellor lets out a long sigh and addresses Yang again without even turning around. "Well, I cannot just give them what they want then. Is that what you were hoping when you came here, Miss Long?"
Yang Xiao Long     THUD. "That's kinda what I was hoping, yeah..." Yang says, having relatively lightly slammed her fist into the top of the desk. There's probably a dent there now. "Is there /nothing/ you can offer them, anything at all to show you're not just trying to ignore the issue and hope it passes by?" she asks next, lilac eyes switching from the Chancellor to OMNI and back. "Cuz that's what it looks like from the outside... just so you know."
Tomoyo Daidouji     "I am aware, Yang Xiao Long," OMNI says with no inflection. "But to capitulate to the demands of those who intend to conduct terrorism sets an unfortunate precedent. No government can effectively govern when they have shown that the promise of force will get people what they wa-"

OMNI is suddenly cut off, as the Chancellor turns back around and turns off the hologram. "Miss Xiao Long," he says softly. "I'm going to let you in on... well, it's not exactly a secret, but something that few realize." He looks up and scratches his chin under that beard. "OMNI is not actually in charge. It certainly looks like they are, considering we listen to its input on all decisions we make. But the final decision always lies in we, the governors. No one wants to be the one to refute a machine designed to be logical and make the optimal decisions... but I have a sneaking suspicion that most of us would rather not deal with OMNI."
Yang Xiao Long     "Well, sir, it certainly does look like OMNI's in charge from the outside. I don't /want/ you guys to just roll over and capitulate, but some concession, some transparancy on the issue, anything, might just let your people know they're not being ignored..." says Yang, after a pause when OMNI is disconnected. "Sometimes, communication can win a war that sword and fire can't."
Tomoyo Daidouji     The Chancellor sighs and nods. "A gesture that shows we listen and care... I believe I can do that." He gives Yang a look and a fatherly smile. "But I think that simply putting out a message over the airwaves would seem... insincere. If what you say is true, I think I should deliver it directly. Put myself into the line of fire, so to speak."

He clasps his hands and says, "But that would mean letting the attack commence... I will step up security around all the OMNI servers. That will ensure the preservation of innocent lives, at least."
Yang Xiao Long     "If you go out there Chancellor, I'll be your bodyguard." replies Yang. "If you're willing to put yourself in danger like that, it's the least I can do to make sure you're safe as can be while you do it." she offers a hand out. "Thank you, Chancellor. I said it before, but I don't want to see another world fall into chaos like mine did. It was eighty years ago, but we're still feeling it today, it's why I have this name of mine."
Tomoyo Daidouji     The Chancellor smiles, and shakes the offered hand. In spite of his age, his grip is firm. "I would appreciate that, Miss Xiao Long. I'll stand ready to get out there at a moment's notice. I expect that you'll be paying attention too, so I'll meet you there."

The sound of sires echoes out from the streets below. "Well, the enforcers are on their way. I'll try to clear your name, but things will go smoother if you're not here." He gestures to the window behind him. "Feel free to take the scenic route to avoid them."
Yang Xiao Long     "Just like Initiation at Beacon. I already know my landing strategy." remarks Yang, grinning a bit. "I'll be there Chancellor, count on it." she then plucks a pair of aviator sunglasses out of her jacket, puts them on, then leaps through the window, deploying Ember Celica and firing backwards to propel her through the air in a wave-like flight to another building's rooftop, where she vanishes into the rooftop access door. "Nailed it!"
