Sokka Sokka had that big, goofy grin on his face as he helped her out of the car. "So, here we are. The place I'll be actually going to school next term," he said with a grin. True, he was there NOW, but all his current classes were online.

"So I'll be taking this welding class and this car manufacturing class and this..." and he went on about all the cool things he was going to learn to build. Such a silly boy.

"I'll show you my favorite place, the library," he said with a big grin, giving her hand another squeeze as he led her towards it.

For the moment, they were both getting a lot of looks. A few people were even pointing at them.
Toph Beifong     It's not like MIT is considered a bad school by far. Prestigious, with lots of scholarships... the school Tony Stark himself had attended. And now Sokka's a student there as well. And while Toph has stopped by here briefly along with Tony on a few earlier occasions, she wasn't really too interested in the place then. It was mostly just a show of appearance and all that, but now it's a far less formal visit. Which allows her to relax more, reflected in her choice of clothing for today which consists of jeans and a comfy sweater.

"I imagined you would pick classes like that," Toph nods in agreement. Building stuff is what Sokka seems to enjoy the most, figuring out how mechanical stuff works. Though she can't help but roll her eyes when Sokka mentions the library. "You know how I love libraries," she comments, even if she doesn't protest further, squeezing his hand back. Why not let Sokka show her around if it makes him happy?

It's easy enough to tell that people are looking and pointing at them, which isn't exactly unexpected. Not that she cares, as she's gotten used to it the last three years since she was adopted. That Tony was right about for sure; people love snooping into the lives of celebrities.
Sokka Sokka nodded and glanced back. "Hey, you seem pretty happy when I read to you." Probably because it meant she got to snuggle up in his lap, get all comfy and hugged and loved as he pampered her like the princess she, to him, was. Sure, a dirty, sometimes violent princess who could probably curse like a sailor if she wanted. But hey, that just made her more fun.

He walked her into the library and took her to one of the rooms. "It's like that one back in our verse. Minus the whole, you know. Giant bird jerk. I haven't had to hit anyone with a book here. Even met a tutor once when I was having some trouble with some things. She was pretty nice, apparently going for an engineering degree or something. Ah! Here we are!" And stops outside of a... computer?

"The most amazing thing ever. A reference computer." He stroked it. "Inside this is listed, automatically, every book, where they are, which are available and which are checked out. You can search by name or author. It's the most AMAZING thing in the world!" Well... to sokka it was at least.
Toph Beifong     "Hey, when you read to me I don't have to do the reading myself," Toph points out with an impish grin on her face. Reading time is pretty nice, that she must admit. Plus Sokka seems to like it too when she decides to curl up with him.

Libraries smell a bit weird, no matter where you are. But at least this library smells clean despite all the books. There's also electronics here, lots of computers that people work on. Not so weird, considering this is a technical college too with lots of engineers, a school that's not lacking in money. "Yeah, I think people would freak out if a spirit came here," she muses, her voice low as she thinks back to the time in the desert and how she had to hold up her entire library while her friends rushed to get out. Amidst checking up dates in a weird calendar room and other nonsense. "At least it's good to hear you're not doing anything that could mess up stuff for you here." Like annoying people with his unique way of doing things.

Toph doesn't exactly look too enthralled by the computer, merely arching an eyebrow. "So... it tells you where the books are?" she asks. Well, at least it's less silly than a book telling there other books are, she guesses...
Sokka Sokka nodded. "True. And I can't help but admit it's nice how warm you are in my lap. The studying has been so much nicer with you there." He gave her the softest, most loving kiss on the forehead before he typed away. "They have books on audio, movies, computer things, books, all kinds of stuff. And here's the thing. It doesn't cost me a dime. Well, past admissions. But seriously. There are public libraries all over the place and they don't make people pay for those, either. Past taxes, I guess. This world is amazing."

"Ah. Sokka. You came back," a rather annoyed voice said. There was an older man standing there, his arms cross. "Come to cause more trouble, I take it?"

Sokka chuckled. "Err, heh heh. That--"

"Wait." And Toph could feel the man get close. And sokka suddenly put an arm around her. "Oh by the heavens." There was horror in the man's voice now. "This... is Toph, isn't it? The daughter of... oh by the stars we're doomed. What you said about Tony Stark is..."

"Yeah? I'm friends with him. You thought I was lying?"

The man didn't answer. He just walked away, shaking his head and mumbling 'we're all doomed' and other such things under his breath as he went.
Toph Beifong     "Yeah, studying is less boring," Toph agrees, hitting Sokka on the back... perhaps a bit too roughly, after he kisses her forehead. "And that's kinda the deal with libraries, to make it possible for many people to get ahold of information. And well, dad kinda donates a lot to this school since he's an alumni." THE most famous alumni, without doubt.

As the unknown voice, at least to her, speaks up, Toph arches an eyebrow and listens intently to the exchange of words. It's only when Sokka puts his arm around her that she cants her head a bit at the man, figuring out what Sokka and this guy has spoken about before. "Sokka might not be able to control all the weird stuff he says, but he's no liar," she comments seriously, not even bothering to comment on the obvious point of who she is. Sokka and Tony... friends? Well, they aren't enemies at least! As the guy walks away Toph pokes Sokka in the abdomen. "I don't even wanna know all the stuff you and the other guys have talked about here." Because she can imagine it. It must be weird for them to deal with multiversal students. Just like it might be a bit awkward for Sokka to be at a disadvantage with not having the same kind of education that they have.
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Yeah... I uhhh, kinda accidentally got in a bit of trouble with him. Eh heh. I don't think he likes Tony much. Something about a car in his office or something.I don't know. Oh, I made a few friends here! This place even has a gym, it's awesome. And they play something called extreme frisbe. I tried it, seemed pretty cool. I also played some volleyball, that was a blast."

He started leading her out.

"Here, I'll take you to the gym. I'm sure you'll like that part a lot. Lots of metal," he teased, still holding her to his side. He gave her one last squeeze, before letting her go. However, as they walked... suddenly about five people were there! Blocking the way. Sokka was confused. "Hey, can we... help you?"

Some of them were bigger guys. Like, think the Boulder. "Holy crap. It's true. Toph is here. We all had money on you just being deranged!" one of the guys said, staring at her like she was a... well, a piece of art. And there goes Sokka's arm around her shoulder again.

"... No. I'm not deranged. This is Toph, my girl friend. And her dad's been helping me get through this college since, you know. From another verse and all."

"Dang. Man, girl, you know you're wayyyy too good for him, right? He's still taking entry classes and just catching up on the basics. You're a Stark, you could go wayyyyy further. My name's Leo, of the Sparrowins family. You and I should chat."

Oh yeah, Sokka was getting into jealous mode and she could tell that -realllllllly- struck a nerve with him.
Toph Beifong     At the comment about a car in an office Toph can't help but snicker a bit, looking amused as she follows Sokka outside, listening to his explanation about what he's been doing outside of class here. Frisbee and volleyball isn't bad, though Toph can't help but be a bit mischievous as she elbows Sokka. "Are the birds here as aggressive as they were at the beach at home?"

The gym sounds good, and hey, metal is always something that Toph has an interest in. "Lead the way, Meat Head." Even if Sokka lets go of her the blind metalbender does move her arm to wrap it around his as they walk. As there are lots of people walking around in the area Toph doesn't focus specifically on some of them unless they do anything to warrant attention. Like those five people stepping into their path. Coming to a halt, Toph narrows her eyes slightly as they speak. There's no move to stop Sokka from wrapping his arm around her again, though she doesn't exactly look pleased by the words from the students. And how they utterly dismiss him. There's no missing the way he tenses up, hearing the change in his heart beat and breathing. While she /could/ clear a path easy peasy, that would most likely not fly well with the professors here. Besides, there might a more entertaining way to deal with these guys.

"Man, and they say the animals from our world are weird," she asides to Sokka, making a point to ignore the guy. At least that's one thing she can use now, some of the formal manners she learned as a young girl. It's not often she plays the 'I'm way too above you to notice you' card, but it's fitting when these guys made a point to ignore Sokka first and upset him. "I mean, Lion Sparrow? Can you imagine it? A tiny, flying thing with a non-fierce roar?" There's a big and amused grin on her face, and she wraps her arm around Sokka's back as she motions for him to walk forward with her.
Sokka Sokka was getting ready to almost throw a swing, to be honest. Hey, there may have been five of them, but he'd handled worse. And they had no fire bending(probably), to boot! But then Toph talks. "Huh?" he says cluelessly. Then she keeps going and he... bursts into a small flurry of snickers. Some of the other guys snicker as well, leaving the guy... spurned. And he looked pissed.

"Hey! Don't you talk down to me you little--" He reached out for her and...

Sokka moved. He pulled her back out of the way(not that she needed it.) And his hand grabbed the guy's by the wrist and, with a twist, he flipped the guy... onto the grass. Leaving him laying there, stunned and staring at the clouds. Hey, thank Suki for that one. "Don't touch my girlfriend," Sokka said, his voice colder than ice. "I'd just leave you bruised and battered. -She'd- leave you in a cast. And you're right, she is too good for me. Anyone stupid enough to think they're good enough for her doesn't deserve the time of day."

The other four seemed kind of... confused by this, though they seemed to be weighing their options. Join their friend, gang up, cut their losses? He grabbed Toph's hand and power walked away, leaving them behind as they struggled to decide what to do. He... was still obviously very frustrated, judging by how tightly he was holding her hand. And the fact he wasn't making witty retorts. And the way his heart was pulsing. However, once a bit away, he let out a sigh of relief. "Damn. I thought they were going to try to jump us! That would have been hard to explain. Eh... heh heh... ehhhh..."
Toph Beifong     What? He doesn't like to be talked down to? The blind metalbender sighs, and she is about to move her foot slightly when Sokka is interfering... since he's not about to punch the guy from what she can tell she doesn't intervene between them, letting Sokka deal with it in a manner that surely was taught by the Kyoshi warriors. Yeah, that ought to count as self defense and won't get them in trouble even if the guy tattles. There's witnesses after all, and it's not like she wouldn't have some weight to her words as well.

Somehow she does look just a bit amused by Sokka's warning. Because yeah, she would possibly end up spraining something of his if he kept on pushing his luck. She lets out a snort right before Sokka drags her off, and she calls back to the guy. "Girls are more inclined to talk with you if you don't treat people like shit, you know!" But fine, she'll let Sokka drag them off towards the gym, though her grin quickly disppears as it's just the two of them. Knowing just how he's reacting like now, as she can hear his heart and breathing. When he does speak up though she allows herself a slight smile however. "Nah, there's no way they could take both of us on. How many real battles do you think /they/ have been in? And I'm not counting the ones they were in during kindergarten," Toph adds... all before she punches Sokka in the shoulder. "So, Mr. Stupid," considering he seems to think that only stupid people should think they're good enough for her, "if all the rest of the other students are like that you're going to be ahead of them in a few months time," she points out before leaning up to give him a brief kiss.
Sokka Sokka was still huffy, and then she talked to him. And he tensed up when she called him Stupid. Then she kept going and he relaxed. He grinned and leaned in, capturing his lips with hers, his hands moving around her. One hand pushed delicately to the small of her back, his left hand moving up to gently cradle her head.

He didn't explore her mouth this time, though. He just kissed her, long and drawn. Both a reminder to her that he loved her, and a reminder to him that he had the most wonderful woman in the world in his corner and no amount of jerks with fancy schooling would be able to change that. He eventually pulled back and smiled. "Well, most of them are pretty nice. You get a few kids like that, but not too many. I wonder how many other people thought I was crazy." He then removed his hands, just taking hers in his instead. Then he started walking towards the gym again.

Once there, she could hear the clanging, the weight lifters, the people going 'grrrrrr' and 'pump it out!' And then...

"Hey, Sokka!" A girl's voice! "Was hoping we'd see you~ Come over and spot us?"

He paused and glanced over and... "Oh! Hey, Toph, come on." Taking her towards a small group of about three girls by the waits. "This is Caroline, Courtney and Cindy." Because the C girls. Yes I am a dork. "I've worked out with them a few time. Hey girls, this is Toph. My girl friend."

"... Oh," one of them said. "Your... girl friend." A bit more harshly than Toph might have expected. Funny, that.
Toph Beifong     Hopefully this is the reassurance that Sokka needs right now, and Toph wraps her arms around Sokka's shoulders as he extends the kiss. It's only when he pulls back that she places a quick kiss on the tip of his nose. "Most people do think you're crazy it seems, you /do/ have some unusual ideas," Toph reminds Sokka with a good natured grin, letting him take her hand and lead her along. It's not necessary, but it's also nice.

Upon arriving at the gym she does stick close to Sokka, not really happy about the material they have covered the floor with. At least there's enough of metal around so she can sense them and not walk into them, but still... "So do you--" she begins, only to blink when some female voices call out to him from the weight lifting station. Ah, at least there are some people here who aren't angry with Sokka. Good. Though as introductions are made it becomes clear just what's going on and /why/ they're friendly towards him. And clearly not so friendly towards her once they know who she is. Great.

Toph however surpresses the urge to raise an eyebrow at the girl who spoke in the harsh tone. "Yup, we've been dating since right after New Year's, and been best friends for nearly four years," she says calmly. At least she doesn't need to worry. For one, Sokka is oblivious to flirting. Secondly, he wouldn't step over the line.
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Yeah. She kissed me on new years. Apparently she'd been crushing on me for ages, don't know how I missed it, I'm usually so alert to those kinds of things."

There was silence from the girls. She could FEEL them all sharing looks. "She looks kind of stringy, I figured you prefered the... stronger type. Can she even lift these?" Gesturing to the weights.

Sokka almost burst into laughter. "Are you kidding?" And then punched Toph in the shoulder, lightly. "Toph could probably pick up every piece of equipment here in one hand. Heck, she once held up an entire library from sinking into the sand long enough for us to get out and that thing had to weigh at least a hundred tons, probably more. Trust me, she's wayyyyy tougher than she looks, she's probably one of the toughest people in all the Paladins."

"Her? But she's so... tiny."

"So? Heck, by the age of twelve she was probably the world's greatest earth bender, or at least in the running."

There was a mild sound of frustration from the girls. One Toph was probably used to making herself. Here the girls were trying to neg her and Sokka couldn't stop talking about how -amazing and awesome- she is.
Toph Beifong     "You can be dense as a rock sometimes, Meat Head," Toph idly comments to Sokka as she flops down on a bench. If Sokka is going to help them train, she might as well get comfy.

And the teenager only speaks once Sokka and the trio are done talking about the isse of her strength or lack thereof. "Were you ladies," she's including you in that, Sokka, "going to train your tongues or were you going to do some actual weight lifting?" But fine, are they going to talk down to her...

Raising her hand, Toph gestures towards one of the weights, and it wriggles slightly before Toph brings her arm up, clearly using her muscles. The weights slowly rise into the air. "I prefer the term 'compressed awesome' rather than tiny, but eh... I'll be bigger person. Not the first time people have underestimated me," she grins before she lets the weights gently fall down with the others.
Sokka Sokka snickered while the girls just stared. Sokka nodded, glancing back to Toph. "Yeah, benders are something else. A shame my sis was the only one who could do that kinda stuff in the family. I'd have probably made an excellent water bender. I'd have... kept it icy." ... The girls laughed. Yeah. It was obvious. He was dense.

"I'd love to stick around, but I've still got a ton to show Toph, She's never been to this school before and I want her to see everything." Took her hand again...

"Awww, come on, Sokka! Stick around. You don't need to go. Besides, you're like us. A normal person, right? Why hang out with a freak with stupid powers?"

Aaaaand Toph would feel that tension return as his hand tightened on her hand.

Oh, yeah. -That- penetrated his skull.
Toph Beifong     "No offense, Sokka... but I can't /see/ you as a bender," Toph injects, clearly serving him that joke. But fine, if he wants to continue showing her around this place she will follow. At least he got the chance to help the girls work out.

As she gets up from the bench she takes Sokka's hand. When the girls refer to her as a freak though... Toph tenses just slightly, narrowing her eyes. Fine, she was going to be nice and keep her mouth shut. But nah, if they're going to act like this there's no reason to play nice.

"We hang out because we're best friends and we're dating. Didn't you hear him earlier, or do we need to spell it out?" Preferably not. "Try flirting with somebody else." Next she turns to Sokka. "I have been here before, but when dad came here the last years to do his alumni speech thing to hand out his annual scholarships and fund projects we mostly stuck to the main building," she explains, then gestures to the stand for all the weights... and suddenly the screws become undone, causing all the weights and bars to tumble to the floor. All while Toph looks shocked, gasping as she moves her hand in front of her mouth. When she speaks, she talks in a louder voice. "OH DEAR... how did you manage to do that? You better clean that up and be more careful with the equipment when you fix it!"

Her hand tugs on Sokka's as she walks. At least this was better than actually breaking something or doing something that might have hurt the girls. Now they just have to pick up all the weight equipment and put it together.
Sokka Sokka nodded. He didn't even try to help them with that. "And Toph is amazing. And she is NOT a freak. She's the coolest, toughest, most bad ass girl I know." And then followed after her as the girls frantically tried to find out what the heck just happened. He gave her hand another squeeze and sighed. "I'm so sorry, Toph. Just seeing nothing but trouble. Hey, how about we go see one of my professors? He's pretty nice, I'm sure you'll like him. He kind of reminds me of hot air balloon guy. Remember hi... oh. Right. I guess you didn't really... meet him then. You met him during the battle, though."

Another squeeze of the hand. "Yeah, let's go meet him, okay?" he said with a light chuckle.
Toph Beifong     As Sokka apologises to her, even though /he/ was not the one who said or did anything stupid, the blind girl sighs, squeezing his hand tightly back. "Not your fault that they are stupid airheads who only know how to call others freak," she snorts. And huh... going to visit a professor might be better. Most likely he will be a bit more mature than the other students are too.

So Toph nods, smiling just a bit when Sokka compares him to somebody she only met once before, but whom she didn't mind at all. "Ah, Theo's dad? I did like him, he was a bit strange but nice." Plus he didn't coddle his son or treat him unwell, despite the facvt that his legs didn't work.

"So are we going to eat some after that, maybe?" Either eat in the cafeteria here... or eat off campus.
Sokka Sokka nodded, grinning down at her. "Sure! There's this awesome place near here. Taco bell. I'm not surprised your dad likes it so much." Nothing says I love you like dad coming home after midnight with a big bag of taco bell. Eeyup.

He kept his hands around her, holding her close as they walked. They of course got more stares, but nothing too serious. And soon... "Knock knock!"

An older man glanced up and then smiled. "Ah! Sokka! I haven't seen you in a while, what brings you to my office?"

"Hey professor Read." Not affiliated with any other famous Read. "I wanted to bring Toph by and show her around, let her see all the sights," he said with a grin.

The man stared for a moment before chuckling. "Always with the jokes with you, eh? So, young lady, I've heard quite a bit about you. I never would have imagined Tony Stark becoming a family man, but I hear you and Miss Potts have been doing quite the job on keeping him under control, eh?"
Toph Beifong     ... Taco Bell. Toph snickers a bit at that, and she shakes her head a bit. "Dad does like some filling food, though he is trying to eat healthier nowadays. Seen those smoothies he makes?" Toph asks.

Following Sokka to the office, Toph is quiet as Sokka and the professor say hi, then grins a bit when Sokka jokes and the professor goes along with it. "Heya prof. Of course you've heard of me, considering my dad gives this place tons of money," she points out goodnaturedly. "And yeah, mom and I like to think we've done something to help him settle down and get used to being a family man, really."
Sokka Sokka nodded and then grinned. "Yeah. Tony has been really cool to be around."

The teacher nodded. He then glanced to Toph. "I must admit, I've been looking forward to meeting you for a while." He pulled out a file. "Sokka has been quite the experience. I've never met a student who managed to be so far ahead of many of our students, even some of our faculty, in some rather advanced concepts." Sokka inflated. "And yet be so far behind in basic things I would expect a child to know." Deflated. "He isn't out first ahhh... student from the multiverse, of course. But usually those who come are from worlds similar to our own. But your worlds level of technology is just so foreign to ours that it has made Sokka the most interesting of students. I very highly look forward to seeing what you will do, young miss. I'm sure when you begin your college experience you'll be one of our most interesting students."
Toph Beifong     Of course people should look forward to meeting her! Toph smiles a bit and nods though when he talks about Sokka. "Yeah, he's a special kind of person alright," she agrees, punching Sokka in the arm. "He does have some good ideas and he does think differently."

As for why Sokka doesn't have the basics...? "Well, we didn't have schools like that in our world back home. It's kinda hard to learn some stuff that way, you know?" It's a bit strange to hear that they've had multiversal students before though, and Toph arches an eyebrow where she stands next to Sokka.

When he suggests that /she/ should begin in college though, Toph can't help but snort. "I'm not a student. I'm a teacher. And I'm teaching bending that's native to our world. I don't see why I should go to college."
Sokka The man looked shocked. "Truly? Odd. I'd imagined as Tony's daughter he already had great plans for your future education." He was silent for a long moment, then nodded. "Well, far be it from me to contradict your decisions. My apologies. I'm sure you are an excellent teacher in your home world."

Sokka nodded. "Oh yeah, she's the greatest. The best earth bender in the world. Some of her students even got a little metal bending of their own! It took a while, but they did it."

He nodded. "I'd actually like to ask you, miss Toph, if you'd be interested in putting on a demonstration and helping us with some projects here. Your talents would be incredibly useful."
Toph Beifong     Ugh, education. At that Toph rolls her eyes just a bit. "Naaah, dad lets me do my own thing, he knows I'm more needed as a bender. I'm not a brainiac, Sokka here is the idea guy," she concedes, slapping Sokka /hard/ on the back. Of course she's best at bending, and that's something she needs to teach to others. It wouldn't do if she was the first and the last metalbender, now would it?

As for demonstrating her skills? Toph looks a bit confused at that. "I'm no technician, so... how would that be useful?" she wonders. It's not like they can't work with metal on their own with their machines and all, that much she's learned from hanging with Tony in his workshop.
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Yeah. I uhhh, really like doing the whole learning stuff. Besides, Toph loves being a bender and she's the best in the world at it. What we do really isn't..." He hummed. "It doesn't beg much in the way of studying. And all the smarts she needs for it, she has." He gave her a shoulder pat. "Besides, she has me as her partner when she needs the solve random tidbit junk."

The man nodded, though looked unconvinced. "I see. Very well. And it would be extremely useful, young lady. Your talents are unique and special. More importantly, you can move metal ,or so I hear, without having to melt it and the like. There are so many ways you and your skills could be useful to some of our projects. If you aren't opposed to aiding some of my students."
Toph Beifong     As Sokka pats her on the shoulder she nods, then jabs a thumb in Sokka's direction. "He's the brains, I'm the brawn." Sure, she's not stupid, but she lacks... Sokka's creativity and unique way of thinking.

So why doesn't the professor get the hint already? A heavy sigh leaves Toph, and she begins picking at her nails a bit. "Yeah yeah, I know I'm awesome and the greatest earthbender ever, but still... how the crud are your students going to learn if I do it for them?" she points out. "I don't even aid my own students, because if I do that they won't become strong enough to do stuff on their own." Sokka should know this well enough.
Sokka Sokka nodded and the teacher looked disappointed. "Very well," he said with a sigh. "If you change your mind, please let me know."

Sokka chuckled and then put an arm around her, giving her a noogie. "Yeah, doubt it. Toph tends to be more a 'let people do it themselves' kinda gal. But it was nice seeing you, professor!" And then ran before Toph could get vengeance for the noogie.

Of course, once he got away, he laughed. "He's a really good guy. Helped me figure out some of the parts to the computer when I accidentally took one of them apart. It's a long story. It involves a bottle of coke and a rabbit."
Toph Beifong     Will she change her mind about this? Unlikely. Why do people's work for them? They'll only end up not learning in the end. At the noogie Toph lets out a slight yelp, then lets out a groan of semi-annoyance at Sokka. As he runs off she nods a bit at the professor. "Nice meeting you too, might catch you again if I tag along with Sokka or dad in the near future," she says before she rushes out of the office after Sokka to catch up with him.

Okay, a bottle of Coke and a rabbit... "I'm not even going to ask," she concedes, then punches Sokka /hard/ in the arm as she falls into step next to him. "I just know enough about computers to use one."
Sokka Sokka nodded and gave a chuckle, rubbing his arm. "Eesh, you're punchy today. Is that your new way of showing affection? I guess I should be thankful you don't show it by throwing rocks anymore. Maybe." He teased, then leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. "Okay, how about we go somewhere i know you'll love." He took her hand and gently guided her... away from the buildings?

And soon the smell of fresh air, and... they were on a trail? "They have a park right by here. Lots of people come out here to have picnics and stuff and..." Nibble nibble on the ear. "I'm no exception."

And then, soon... "OH COME ON!" Raccoons had gotten into the basket he'd prepared.
Toph Beifong     "You should know by now that's how I mostly do show my affection," Toph points out. "And hey, I could throw some boulders at you to get the point through your thick skull~" Oh yes, she can't help but tease him a bit in return! The kiss to her cheek does make her turn her face a bit towards him, letting him lead her away from the buildings. "So somewhere with lots of earth then." There's no way he would drag her to somewhere she wouldn't enjoy herself... and what does she enjoy more than earth? It's clear that they are indeed headed towards a park area. When he confirms it Toph smiles a bit, especially at the mention of picnic. The nibble at her ear does make her eep a bit, though she's grinning when she elbows him hard in response. "I should've guessed." But it does sound nice, just sitting outside eating prepared food...

But of course, since wildlife seems to continue its trend of making Sokka's life hard, she guesses that buying something from a nearby food vendor might work as well.
Sokka Sokka nodded and then shook his head. "Okay. I'm running to the cafeteria to get us something to eat, okay?" He grabbed her by the shoulders and gave her one more kiss, before nodding. "Wait here, I'll be back soon. With edibles. I promise."

Then he turned tail and ran off back towards the school. Leaving her alone. In the woods. Where those bodies were found last summer. Okay, no, that last part wasn't true but still.

However, after a bit she heard someone walking... towards her? It wasn't sokka! Someone was coming up the trail! A jogger?! NO! He had a weapon, a... oh. A net. A bug catching net. The guy was walking by and then... "oh! Um, hello," he said suddenly, looking around a bit and then... "Err, are you lost, miss?"
Toph Beifong     That sounds like a good deal, and Toph leans in towards Sokka as he places his hands on her shoulders, repaying the kiss. "Oh, you better bring back some food, or else I'm going to steal your desserts again!" she teases with an impish grin. And as he runs off Toph doesn't seem to mind being left alone. It's not like she hasn't been in far more dangerous situations before on her own. So she sits down on the ground, leaning back against a tree as she rests her arms behind her head, closing her eyes as she moves one leg over the other.

It's easy enough for her to tell that it isn't Sokka that's approaching, and she can tell that he's not holding anything made of metal either. Nor does he seem to be walking with the kind of determination somebody intent on inflicting harm tends to have. As he says hi the blind teenager arches an eyebrow. "Nah, I don't get lost. I'm waiting for my boyfriend to return with lunch for us," she replies calmly enough. "What are /you/ doing here if you think that /I/ am lost anyway?" It's a bit hard for her to tell exactly what he is holding.
Sokka The boy yelped, and took a step back. "O-oh. Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. This is just a bit off the beaten trail and I didn't recognize you. I think I'd remember someone like y--" And quickly shut his mouth.

"Me? Oh, I'm a geography major. I need to capture and identify ten different kinds of bugs from these woods, so I'm mostly just hunting right now. Err, sorry to bother you, miss... ummmm...? Oh! Right! I'm Josh. Sorry. Eh heh..."

Then... "Oh, right. Waiting for boyfriend. Err, guessing he goes here if... err, sorry to bother you. I should probably get going..."
Toph Beifong     Man, this guy is skittish. Toph remains seated as she listens to him explain himself, though she does seem to take pity on him as she points off towards one of the nearby trees. "There's lots of bugs by that tree, check down by the roots. And under that large flat rock there." It doesn't hurt to help him by telling him where to look, now does it?

The introduction earns a slight grin in return. "The name's Toph. So... geography, huh? Neat. So you study countries then? And their bugs?" Okay, she can't help but joke a little, but it seems good natured. It doesn't seem like she's bothered by him either, as he seems like a person who will annoy her. "Stick around and catch the bugs, it's better than you running off to where you can't find them."
Sokka The guy blinked a few times. "Wait, how can you... what?" Then... "Wait, THE Toph? I've heard of you! Your dad is Tony Stark, isn't it?" He stared for a while, then his eyes widened. "I thought you looked familiar! Wow! You look even cuter in person!" Then. "Oh shit I said that out loud."

He covered his face with his hands.

"Huh? Oh, well, I'm hoping to go into wild life preservation, so I do a lot of eco system studying. This is just one of my classes to study the local fauna. I'm hoping to actually go off verse to study some of the new geographies that have been showing up all over the place."
Toph Beifong     Of course more people are MIT might know who she is, and with the news she does have celebrity status on this world. The comment about how she looks cuter in person does make her arch an eyebrow, a silent suggestion that he probably shouldn't continue down that street. No, being called cute is something she only allows a few people to do. "Yeah, it's me."

It does sound like this guy has some good ideas on what he wants to do, and Toph shrugs. "Why not? There's lots of interesting worlds out there, and lots of cool animals and all."
Sokka The guy nodded. "Yeah. It's really cool. I hear in some worlds, there's all kinds of things. Like, bears made of fire, or some worlds where animals are mixed together like a bear duck, or where they seem to be made of like, anti matter, or have laser eyes, or can summon rain storms. The multiverse is pretty amazing. You can study--"

"Hey, Toph! I got us some grub!" Sokka's voice suddenly echoed through the area. He came running up, a bag in his hand. "There's a grocery just down the street so I picked up a rotisserie chicken and..." He trailed off and stared. "Who's this?"

"Me? Err, no one, I uhhh... I was just leaving. Right. Err, you have fun. It was nice meeting you, Toph."

Sokka blinked, looking confused as he walked towards her.
Toph Beifong     "Bear ducks are silly. Platypus bears are a thing however," Toph concedes with a grin. The multiverse /is/ pretty fantastic however, and Toph listens as Josh continues talking. The moment that Sokka approaches though is when Toph raises her arm to wave at him. "Over here!" Oh sweet, he got them chicken? That ought to be tasty.

As for the guy? "That's Josh, he studies geology and is on a bug hunt." Man, he became nervous all of a sudden, didn't he? What is /he/ scared about? "Weren't you going to find your bugs? No need to run off, Sokka's not dangerous or anything," she assures him with a wave of her hand. "So did you get something we can eat along with the chicken, Meat Head?" she asks Sokka, perking up a bit where she sits.
Sokka Sokka grinned and sat by her, nodding. "Of course. They had..." Pause for effect. "Something they call jojos! I think they're some kind of potato thing. They taste awesome." Meat and potatoes. Yup, definitely sokka. He grinned and pulled it out. "And some cole slaw and bananas!" ... He was trying to eat healthy. Pfft. He started dishing it all out.

Josh, meanwhile, quickly got his bugs and tried to bug out. And the moment he was gone... "He didn't give you any trouble, did he?" Sokka asked. Jealous mode initiating again it seems.
Toph Beifong     It appears that the food Sokka decided to get something tasty for them indeed, and Toph smirks. "That's a good boy," she teases, scooting over to make room next to the tree for him too. "What kind of drinks did you get?"

With that she begins unwrapping the food, all while she leans against Sokka's side.

The question regarding Josh does make Toph shrug. "Nah, if he had he wouldn have gotten an earth spike to his ass. He was just looking for bugs and talking about animals," she explains, then leans up and kisses his cheek. "Thanks for the grub." Now let's eat!
Sokka Sokka nodded, then, for good measure, started dishing things up, getting them plates full of food, then pushed in and pressed his lips to hers. Surprise make out session, nooooo! His hands reached out, pushing her back, one hand on her shoulder, the other sliding down to grab her by the wrist.

"Sure, let's eat. I just wanted to make sure you felt everything was worth it," he whispered.
Toph Beifong     And here Toph thought it was time to eat... but no, Sokka seems to have some other plans, causing Toph to blink where she sits. She's not slow to return the kiss though, half closing her eyes as she lets him push her back. Her free hand moves to his side, moving to run up his back as he takes her by the wrist. When he does pull back Toph blinks, then kissses him on the nose. "Of course I know you won't bring us bad food, dunderhead..." she murmurs, then reaches up to place her hand on his cheek, her touch gentle.
Sokka Sokka grinned down at her and nodded. "Of course. Toph... you look beautiful," he whispered softly, before laying his head against her shoulder and closing his eyes. "You are the most wonderful, beautiful and toughest girl I've ever known. And I'm so happy with every single second I get to spend with you."

He then gave her one last nuzzle, a soft kiss on the neck, then finally pulled back and grinned down at her. "So, time to eat! That chicken smells good, huh?" Om nom nom nom!
Toph Beifong     It's something she should get used to right now, him complimenting her looks. Still, it's enough to get her to blush slightly even as she reaches up to stroke Sokka's hair as he rests his head against her shoulder. "I love you too, dofus," she says a bit softer than she usually speaks, nuzzling him in return as she gets comfortable, snuggling up against his side before reaching for the food.

"It sure smells good... so where are we going later? Did you have classes today?" she inquires curiously.
Sokka Sokka shook his head. "Nah. I don't have any classes on campus until next term. Maybe head home. I'd rather we end this on a high note rather than risk some other jerks causing more grief. Besides, after this meal I think it calls for one thing." He leaned in. "Something I know we both enjoy very much. Video games!" he said with a big, goofy grin.

"I think your dad got some new things for us to try together. It'll be a blast, you know?"
Toph Beifong     Heading home does sound like a good idea, and Toph nods as she takes a big bite of chicken. There are some jerks around here indeed, but eh, Sokka will survive when he dies start classes here. It's not like he hasn't been through worse before.

For a moment it looks as if she's about to blush when Sokka leans in... but then he mentions video games, causing her to snort and punch him a bit in the side. "You're on." Maybe she'll even curl up and rest her head on his lap while he plays. Or maybe Tony wants to play with them or something, that could be fun. "Sure thing... loser has to buy snacks for tomorrow or something?" she suggests. It's more fun when there's a bet going on.
