Reinhardt Wilhelm     Eichenwalde is downright picturesque as the team files in, whether through tiltrotor aircraft, or arrives via their own means. A Bundeswehr officer aboard the aircraft briefs the Elites over communications, a young blonde named Lieutenant Weber to be specific. "The Colonel is currently on the ground as we speak. We requested his presence due to his /considerble/ combat record with the Crusaders during the war. We only just recently tracked down the General's remains." She begins, an augmented reality readout illustrating the path from the town square to Eichenwalde castle. THere are robots EVERYWHERE, all red-eyed and armed to the teeth. If they could be, they would be best described as ill-tempered. Reinhardt is fending off the worst of them alongside another Crusader, a gold colored suit of Germanic steel that manages to soak up as much punishment as his fellow warrior does, while special ops types with ultramodern equipment trade fire with the Omnics.

"Your objective is to assist the Crusaders in protecting our payload, a makeshift battering ram we'll be using the burst through the castle fortifications. We don't know what's in there as of present, but expect the worst. The Omnics were known to field massive war machines back in the day, they might still have something cooped up as a last-resort." The aircraft will land close to the city square, near the battering ram. It's clearly something the engineering corps have put together at the last minute, but pulled out all the stops in making sure it would be successful.

Hostile Omnics are Bastion pattern, with machine gun arms blazing as they engage the Germans with efficiency, larger Omnic types loading up anti-armor to take out the Crusaders' shields.
Yang Xiao Long     The rumbling motorcycle engine growls in the distance, heralding the approach of the blonde brawler that is Yang Xiao Long. She listens to the briefing over her helmet earpiece, nodding as she comes to a stop not far from the aircraft. Hopping off, setting the autopilot to take it to a safe distance, then hears a call for support. Yang grins predatorally, deploying her gauntlets then firing herself up onto a wall, then dashing along it to close with one of the Omnics, leaving herself completely open to counter attack as she just bullrushes head long into the formation.
Hana Song     Korea is a long ways away by standard means of transit, which is why a certain gamer-turned-guardian seized a role as passenger on a suborbital hopper instead. Designed for ultra-priority high speed transportation, it's the perfect way to travel halfway around the world in a dozen minutes or so. But there's a problem: This hopper isn't going to Eichenwalde. Nothing's gone to that ruin in a decade or more. And rather than divert the craft from its intended landing site, a certain brunette lifts a camera to show her face, "Streamin' live today, we're helpin' the Bundeswehr recapture Eichenwalde. That old battlefield from the Omnic Crisis? Yeah, it's gonna be a real party!" She winks, "But I'm in a jet, you're saying? Well, I saw this in a movie once!"

She yanks the airlock's outer door open (the inside was mercifully already closed) and jettisons herself with a 'WHOO HOO' at 20,000 feet. Twisting in the air, she lifts a hand to tap a controller on the inside of her wrist, then spreads her limbs out to descend.

RIGHT NOW
"Time to raise my A.P.M.!" calls over local communications as a holographic grid projects itself. Already detected, no doubt, on radar, the distinctive purple-pink MEKA descends on rocket boosters until it lands heavily amidst the Bundeswehr troops. The grid locks in, as the machine rises, lancing out tiny lasers to intercept incoming fire and give those energy shields a breather, "D.Va is on the scene! I never did a mid-air docking before, that's one for the highlight reel~!"
Leyanne Leyanne Mace has probably been a minor spanner in the loadmaster's calculations, although if they're used to carrying Reinhardt it might not be so bad. She looks down at the battlefield below. She spots one of the big 'auto panzers'. She grins at the nearest Bundeswehr officer. "Hold this." She tells him, passing him her can of energy drink. "I got work to do."
And with the red-armoured mouse puts her helmet on, leaving the mouthpiece retracted for the moment as she leans out the door of the tiltrotor. She waits for her moent before launching herself out, doing a fairly good impression of a falling stone, arms and legs spread wide to direct her fall...
Left a bit...
Left a bit...
And the steel fingers of her cybernetic hand catch on the edge of an Auto-Panzer's plating and she slams into it hard... but doesn't lose her grip.
"Ow." SHe mutters, holding on for dear life. OK Tiny, you smartarse, now what?
Genji Shimada     For once, there are no frills. No sneaking around, no 'there but not'. This is a special request from Reinhardt, someone for whom Genji Shimada holds deep respect. A request special enough that they temporarily reactivated the big guy's commission in the German military. If the Crusaders are involved, that gives it enough gravitas to be worth all that, and so it's worth Genji simply /being there/, standing calmly at the ready, listening to the brief on the tilt-rotor as they enter. "I will stay on board just a short while longer. Drop me off over there, and I will see what I can do with the Auto-Panzers."

True to his word, Genji waits, until the craft pulls around near-ish to a building off to one side of the Omnic heavies. Then, he simply jumps out of the craft, takes a flying leap down, and lands with a surprisingly deft movement atop the building.

In the next heartbeat, he's off the rooftop and onto the Eichenwalde streets, charging straight in at one of the Auto-Panzers. It's a sudden, lightning-fast flurry of movement, a blur of green hurling shuriken and lashing out with a shortblade, all intended to hobble the thing's legs - to prevent it from being able to stabilize or reposition itself.
Athela Valemore Not having a Flying type to get into the city, Athela Valemore hitched a ride on the aircraft. And is having to do her best to not squee a little, because this was pretty close to sailing in the sky rather than on the seas in a very strange flying boats. Weber giving the explaination of the mission at least gives her something to focus on.

Okay, payload escort mission, and they're the defense. We will work with this.

As the aircraft sets down at the departure point she looks out, taking a moment to locate one of the enemy placements Reinhardt indicated. Seige weapons for defense? The Omnics were clearly serious about maintaining this position. What can an archaic warrior and her pokemon do against such opposition... Though if those machines have considerable mass due to their construction...

Athela darts out of the landed craft, drawing her Resolute Blade as she does so. Though it is not to attack with the blade, but to stop and hold it up dramatically. "Fear not brave Crusaders, the calvary has arrived!" Pause. ".. You do still call it a calvary, yes? Oh, whatever. To reclaim the lost, we shall go forth and strike down these rouge constructs! Mizzen!" The goblin-like pokemon that followed her off the aircraft stops at her side. Athela lowers her weapon to point towards one of the Auto-Panzers. "Use Grass Knot!"

The vines wrapped around the Timburr's arms glow bright green for a moment, and then he punchs both arms into the ground. Mere moments later the vines erupt out of the cracking pavement right underneath an Auto-Panzer, quickly shooting up to wrap around it.... And then crush the machine into the ground beneath it's botanical grasp.
Nagato     Nagato shot off base in her mecha suit, the Yugana Kaze, rifle in hand she zooms through the warpgate to join up with D.Va's transport. "This is Admiral Nagato joining the sortie." she comments over the radios, following the other MEKA pilot down to the ground, the flat wings flare out to slow her descent as audio plays through her ears from the sortie's mission parameters. "Didn't think I'd be joining you three on a mission. I'd have brought my battleship gear but I'd be late to the sortie."

It doesn't take her too long to jet off into the middle of the foray, using the Yugana Kaze's agility to avoid a few shots and to get off some from her rifle at the larger mechanical things that harangue her allies. Lasers rapidly eject from the barrel of the rifle, aiming at the knee joints where it was suggested. "Lead the way, Reinhardt, I'm under your command."
Samantha Middleton     Fido was pretty heavy, but the rotorcraft only needed to carry Sam and her armor partway. Dropping her off before the objective neared was fine with her, because the bulky-looking clockwork power armor had a flight unit all its own. It doesn't LOOK elegant, but it has surprising maneuverability! She doesn't pilot her suit right toward the enemies right away though. She's aiming to land(with a crash of stumpy legs) near the battering ram instead. The target to protect.
"Hokay!" the girl chirps, that clunky suit turning about! "Looks like this is where we're at the most danger... so I'll deploy here, here, and here..." Loud 'thunks' from steam-pressure cannon on the side of the power armor sends heavy globes crashing in the distance. Three of them, for now, which leaves her with one in reserve. The nearest pops open and fires pitons into the ground to steady itself, the turret extending barrel and swivelling to target any threats.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     The door gunner on the tilt rotor looks confused as Mace hands him the drink. "...okay." He says, shrugging before he watches Hana and Samantha drop from the sky like some kind of missiles. Or a DIFFERENT kind of Titans. Hana's MEKA opens up with laser fire to take out the missiles from the spider-like tanks.

Yang goes for melee against the Bastions. She throws the robots around left and right, but she will probably end up having to deal with gunfire pointblank.

The auto-panzer Mace grapples onto tries to frantically shake her off of it, and it shakes a lot. It's distracted enough that Genji sneaks up to it and actually slices the leg right off. It'll begin to stumble in bafflement, desperately tracking Genji and failing while shuriken riddles it.

Suddenly, VINES! Timburr's vines attack the panzer and crushes it with immense strength.

When Nagato flies in, kneecapping the spider-tank that actually has a bead on Reinhardt. "Thank you!" he calls out to the Admiral, before he pushes ahead, bowling Bastions aside.

A soldier motions to the battering ram, calling out, "Defend that ram!" to the Elites as a reminder. The other Crusader will help with that, his shield forming up as he covers the ram's flank.
Genji Shimada     Down it goes, distracted, disabled and destroyed. There's a quick salute from Genji, for both Athela and Leyanne - and then the cyborg disappears in a streak of green movement. Someone's being pretty serious and on-point today.

The ram have started to move, and a cyborg ninja is going to take up a course on the rooftops, alongside the little old convoy as it moves. From the rooftops nearby, he can both act as a spotter to call out problems, and also has a good line on any targets he needs to take out.
Kotone Yamakawa Thankfully Kotone has been able ot sneak in for the most part until one of the Bastions just suddenly would find it self comming under attack as Kotone starts to make herself known. She's zipping in and out but she also heard enough from the former Overwatch Agents when they were in the Union? To know that ya don't hack these things they could be loaded with nasty suprises and she might fry herself. So she's going to era on teh side of cautious.

She makes a move to help defending the Ram however as she opens up more shots.

"Sorry I'm late! Heard you needed a hand and I owe you one for this."
Yang Xiao Long     One problem with being a hot headed brawler.

    dakdakdakdakda

t"GHYAH!"

Yang manages to disrupt some of the Bastion formation, but takes a machinegun burst at point blank, knocking her off the edge of the wall and into the courtyard again, groaning in a pile of debris that shattered beneath her fall. Her Aura flares briefly, but doesn't flicker out just yet... though when she extracts herself from the debris... it's with an explosion of kinetic force and flame, sending splintered wood and fractured stone in all directions, and likely flagging her as a high threat target on the Omnic's targetting systems. "You guys are really starting to PISS ME OFF!"

She bursts from her position, leaping up and running up the side of a wall, before rebounding off of it. She arcs over a concentration of Omnics, and comes crashing down atop them, sending a kinetic ripple out from her impact point with the sound of a gunshot from her gauntlets.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace yelps as the auto-panzer she's on begins to tilt and buckle to one side, clambering rapidly up onto its shell to prevent herself being crushed... okay, that solves that problem. She returns the salute to Genji, picking up a nice, baseball bat-sied chunk of steel from the fallen robot. THe auto-panzers are the biggest threat to the ram right now so as soon as she's spotted the next one the mouse is avancing towards it, impromptue bat in her left hand and her revolver in her right hand, trying to clear a path for herself or her allies towards the next auto-panzer.
Samantha Middleton     "I AM!" Samantha shouts at the soldier, the tin can of a power armor hunkering down to shield the other flank. The rattling of Fido's autocannon roars into the air, sending large bullets toward the incoming that manage to approach the ram. Bullets ping off of the thick armor, but the heavier weapons cause concerning lurches and one manages to make a loud hiss of steam escape. Inside, Samantha yanks a panel open and pinches a hose shut without thinking, redirecting the pressure by using a clothespin.
"We'll just have to keep thembusy a little longer, huh?" she shouts. She isn't great at giant warzones, but her turrets are surprisingly tough from small arms fire! One of them already looks damaged, but their guns are pretty heavy too, firing sporadically... and attempting to herd any into an area that she can gun them down with.
"Are these things intelligent?" she asks. "I mean... they look pretty advanced. I wouldn't mind poking at one!"
Hana Song     There's a beep inside D.Va's MEKA and the laser spray ceases. The immediate result is that bullets are no longer being shot down. That's all the reprieve the force is going to get from the Defense Matrix for now. Raising a hand, she flicks a two-handed salute, "I'm going ham! Keep that ram covered!"

This is a point where the MEKA's armor is put to the test. A machine designed to fight a single giant omnic is now put against lots of little ones. With a laugh, D.Va punches her controls and hurls her machine forward from the battle line, bullets ricocheting off the forward armor. Something cracks the canopy glass when it bounces off, and that's what prompts her to stop her advance. Bunkering down where her MEKA's feet dig in, D.Va swivels to track targets, introducing the Omnic main line to new technology-- rapid-fire fusion cannons. It's like twin fire-linked energy shotguns. Powered by the MEKA directly, there is no ammunition to reload, so this suppression can go so long as the guns don't overheat.
Athela Valemore As the auto-panzer crumbles into the ground Mizzen pulls his arms free from the ground. "Good job," Athela praises him. "Go help the Crusaders with the ram." The pokemon salutes briefly, then runs back to help move the battering ram with his stout strength.

Athela turns her attention back to the robots still trying to impend their way. She's still more use to the clockwork and arcanum constructs used by Team Golem, but in the end these machines of steel and electricity are not that far off from those are they? Either way, at least the divine insight for combat tactics she gains from being Keldeo's champion aids her in figuring out the next course of action.

"Divide their ranks, split their formation! We need to open a way for the payload to proceed through." After sprinting a bit closer to the Omnics so they can clearly see her without accidentally shooting towards the Crusaders and their ram behind her, Athela holds Resolute Blade up over her head with both hands as it starts to shimmer with a watery gleam.

Begone from our path, foulest machines, or elst the tide of retribution shall drag all down beneath it!"

The words aren't figurative either. As Athela swings the sword down to strike the ground, the elemental power channeling through it from her Tide Caller abilities surges forth, rising up into a sizable wave that rushes forward towards the Omnic forces to wash as many of them down and away from the battering ram's path as she can.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt charges to Yang's defense, clearing a wave of Omnics that would otherwise have tried to overwhelm her in machine gun and missile fire before his hammer fires off a blast at one of the tanks. THe ram advances, and the Colonel picks up a fallen assault rifle from a felled soldier. "Mace!" he calls out, tossing her the rifle. It's a standard issue military rifle, with thirty round mag, select-fire, and red-dot optic.

Kotone's marksmanship deserves credit, as she drops a couple of the Bastions with gunfire, leaving them blind and deaf as they stumble forward and fall over. Samantha and Hana have similar success, their mechs chewing up the remaining Omnics, both Bastions and their more tanky brethren.

Up ahead, Genji will notice a pair of spider-tanks approaching the group, loading up cannon rounds. One of them gets a shot off, the round punching into the chest of the other Crusader. "ROLF!" Reinhardt bellows, before rage dictates his response, the massive German charging with his hammer swinging at the Bastions as he roars.

He's lost enough comrades to this town, he won't let this be the end of the Crusaders! He and Athela will cut through them directly, his hammer and her sword and Pokemon clearing the path as they move through the market district.

Not much further until they reach the castle keep proper.
Yang Xiao Long     It's a red day. A blood day, ere the sun rises.

Yang's eyes are blood red at this point, her normal cheerful demeanor replaced by a slathering beast that ducks under gun barrels, slamming her fist into the boxy chest of a Bastion and sending it flying on a cone of kinetic force, or blasting the head unit off another with an explosive bolt from mid-range. She's so far gone into the berserk fury that she doesn't notice, or care that she's taking fire, bullets striking her aura and mushrooming against it, though the strikes do punch through and cause welts and draw blood as the protective field begins to wane.

That's when the other Crusader takes a tank shell.

Something snaps inside of the blonde at much the same time as in Reinhardt, and with a bloodcurdling howl, she fires herself like an artillery shell at one of the spider mechs, aiming to land on top of it and slam her fist down beside the cannon mounting, firing a shell at point blank into the upper armour.
Genji Shimada     "Two Auto-Panzers, up ahead!" Genji calls out immediately - but the warning will be too late. Down goes a Crusader, and inwardly, Genji cringes. He was just old enough to sense the feelings of hopelessness in the adults during the darkest days of the original Omnic Crisis, and seeing this, he begins to understand. Yang is furious. Reinhardt is enraged. But Genji Shimada... more than anything, he feels the sadness of it. A battle that was long over, a warrior who thought he had escaped it with his life.

In the next instant, the ninja is across the rooftops, beelining straight towards the Auto-Panzer that Yang isn't hitting. Just as before, he moves to quickly disable, seeking to carve through joints - but this time, he also intends to get up on top and deliver a coup de grace if he can. Hit the thing's computer core, take it down for /good/.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore turns her attention for a moment as Reinhardt bellows. She may be younger and less experienced than some of the people here, but she knows the scream of that manner all too well and what it means. It was a part of War, but that did not make it any easier to deal with. "Mizzen, take up the slack! Keep the ram moving. Let not the fallen be in vain!" It's all she can really do, ensure that the task the man fell for is continued to the end.

Armored boot clatter across the pavement as the young knight runs to catch up with Reinhardt and Yang at the lead of the movement, zigzagging a bit to throw off gunfire being made in her direction. "Sir Wilhelm! Focus your rage, before you lose yourself to it!" She skids past the much larger armored man to slash her divine blade at Bastiens trying to move in on their flank. "Let not those that fall in the name of Duty do so in vain."

She knows better than trying to stop that sort of rage, so instead she is trying to at least keep Reinhardt putting it towards the matter at hand.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace catches the machine gun and looks at it a moment, with a soft sigh. Well, it's automatic. It should do for - Oh, shit, not good!
She watches the crusader take a tank shell with a frown. "I'm gonna do a thing." She transmits.
She reaches up to tap the side of her helmet, the visor and mouthpiece folding down with a sot whir-click. She darts forward, gunning down a Bastion before a spider-tank tries to stamp on her. She steps out of the way and then grabs on, scaling the leg of the thing. She pauses to put a few rounds into its optics before continuing her path to its carapace and that turret on top.
Switching her arm to hydraulic mode, she begins trying to peel it open and gain access to the cannon.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is just focusing on the remainign Bastions, the drones have been an overall threat to the anyone that might pass through here. Honestly it's time to clean this plce up and kotone is doing that. She keeps moving about notbothering to cloak as she contiunes to focus upon taking down the Bastion class units. Nagato is noticed in the furball and and she also spots Genji as well. She keeps moving she keeps fighting as she goes. Shoot, move, shoot move and she doesn't sit still with these things. She does not want to think what the actual war might have bene /like/ given these are glitched out, busted down remants of what was a terrfying warmachine army at one point. She wonders on a old friend for a moment wondering what he and his mother might think upon it. However she keeps fighting and bounding about as she goes.
Samantha Middleton     The turrets are stationary, so as the ram advances, they provide some cover... but are eventually left behind. Samantha launches her last turret ahead, to guard and clear the gate of hostiles as best she can. Unfortunately they aren't AI turrets, she has to actuallyr adio control them. She's good at this but she can't split her attention a dozen ways!
And there are threats to take care of. "Ugh, jam..." IT seems like Fido is kind of held together by spit and wire, and stuff breaks a lot. On the other hand it has a lot of redundant systems! Sam is kept trying to keep it up and running... and when a panzer rounds to come nearby, she's a little off balance and takes a shell in the armor's shoulder, twisting it around. Sam lays down a spray of lighter bullets as she sends the armor on a charge, to attempt to shear into the leg and cripple it so it can't get closer to the ram!
Hana Song     Hunkered in an old crater, D.Va twists her MEKA from target to target, suppressing Bastiens and drawing fire. Admirably, the machine wethers incoming gunfire, though even the MEKA's heavy armor is wearing out. Cracks spread through the canopy glass and one of the antennas shears off from a spray of heavy rounds. All that cute pink paint is scraped up from numerous ricochets. Inside, D.Va collects her camera, still broadcasting, "My MEKA's getting all banged up. How about I get a new one?" With a wink to the lens, she adds, "A lot of you guys all know what's comin', but we have new viewers on the stream-- So no spoilers!"

She taps some indicators on the interior screens, and a gauge rapidly rises from green to yellow and into red. Warnings flash in Korean across her HUD as D.Va hauls her machine out of the crater, "Here we go! All together now!" Thrusters engage, hurling the machine forward. WIth one final buttonpress, the girl ejects herself right out the back, leaving the MEKA to sail down the street on its own, "NERF /THIS/!"

D.Va hits the street in a low crouch, twirling her light pistol out of its holster, but rather than fight she immediately ducks behind a burned out car. The reasoning is clear-- when the MEKA's thrusters give out and it arcs down into the street, exploding like a cruise missile amidst the defending Omnic forces.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Rolf was one of Reinhardt's oldest friends, he was a grandfather now. His eldest son was lost in Eichenwalde during that fateful battle years ago as a soldier, now the father follows suit.

Now he's dead. Reinhardt is lost in his rage as he pushes into the horde, ignoring damage his armor sustains as he lets loose a furious hammer strike, smashing one of the tanks into a building over and over with incoherent shouts. If Athela weren't watching his back, this would've been a poor idea. It still is, but at the least he's productive with his fury.

He doesn't even realize Hana's out there vulnerable when her MEKA explodes, taking out a number of the little guys in the process.

Genji jumps one of the tanks, his blade slicing metal joints left and right before he plunges his sword into the machine's braincase, 'killing' it so to speak. He might've nicked the power core as well, which will only speed along the machine's decay.

Yang meanwhile...goes ballistic. She fights with just as much fury as Reinhardt does, if not more so, her punch leaving a massive hole in the top of the tank's armored shell as it tries to pry her off with machine gun fire. It won't work.

Leyanne uses a downed tank's cannon after she blinds it, easily ripping through the decrepit machine's internals before the cannon tears free, and it's hers.

Kotone takes fire, the Bastions opening up on her while their targeting systems struggle to keep track of the nimble cyborg. Maaka's been a good influence, as her skills show when the Bastions are fired upon in return.

Samantha's panzer is crippled quickly, and it takes a barrage of gunfire that leaves it on its last leg, literally too, as it pitifully attempts to fire back before it explodes in a shower of shrapnel. Bastions flanking the tank begin to push toward the ram, firing upon it and the vehicle's driver as well.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace grins and holds up her gun trumphantly, only to regret it a few moments later as first a burst of machine gun fire knocks her off balance.
Then there's a really big explosion. She's bowled of her feet, landing on a Bastion and crushing it under her bulk. Her armour raises sparks a few times from the ground as she bounces a couple of times, ending up crumpled in a red-and-black heap against a wall. "....ow..." she mutters quietly, before picking herself back up and looking over the gun and its workings... hm. Should've thought about ammunition... oh well, three shells should be enough.
She raises the cannon to her cybernetic shoulder, bracing herself as she sights down the barrel at a group of Bastions near Hana. There's a BANG, and the mouse is launched backwards, bouncing off the wall and landing flat on her face.
Genji Shimada     His target taken down for the moment, Genji doesn't so much as pause. The battle still flows, and so too does Genji, turning a quick somersault and landing on the ground in a full-tilt sprint. His acrobatic training serves him well; it allows the shinobi to get all the way to Reinhardt smoothly, his hands flicking out an endless supply of shuriken as he goes. He falls into place directly beside the towering Crusader, where he whips up his blade - and begins to parry Bastion fire as it comes in, watching Reinhardt's back.

As he does so, he speaks in a quiet voice, just loud enough to hear. "Reinhardt. You harbor a grief I can't even begin to fathom. But don't let it consume you. You are our shield - if your fury over those who have fallen gets you killed, those who still stand may join them and you."
Hana Song     D.Va remains crouched beneath her cover, though she does hold her camera up on an extending pole to show the explosive impact of her MEKA's self destruction. The camera is hauled back down right away, though, so she can V-sign to the lens, "Just for you, guys!" Her eyes snap wide when something explodes nearly right behind her, scattering Bastien parts across the cracked sidewalk just past her destroyed-vehicle cover. Glancing back, she spies the collapsing robot's lower torso, then follows the trajectory to the laid-out mouse that fired the round, "Oh, hey!" Raising a hand, she waves, "Nice no-scope!" Her gun twirls out and she gestures, "Bet you can't do it again!"

Hunkering, she checks the gauge on her inner wrist, "Just shy of fully charged.. Time for some D.Va Footsoldiering. And by that..." Gauging the gunfire, she darts out of cover and hauls her slight frame across the street to the ram itself. Here, she can use it as cover, protect it, and at least look like she's still contributing without her MEKA.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore takes a step back as the MEKA careens through the air towards the Omnics and explodes, having to turn and hold an arm up by her face to shield her eyes from the resulting blast. Why must these future things be so loud and so bright when they blow up? It's worse than an angry Voltorb! Even outside the epicenter the pressure wave through the air from the blast causes her cloak to flap about wildly behind her.

Now they just need to get the battering ram through the opening in the ranks the others are making. Which is easier said than done as the smaller units are advancing on it.

But that is why she left one of her Pokemon to help guard the transport while she was assisting in cutting through the ranks.

"TIMBURRRRRR!" Screaming a warcry with the volume of something twice his size Mizzen charges towards the approaching Bastiens, sparing little concern over their firearms shooting at and possibly hitting him. Athela would not let their superior war technology stop her from doing what needs to be done, why should he? Mizzen ducks down low to get under the reach of the first robot he gets in range of, then leap into a flying tackle to slam into the center of the Omnic's mass and throw it to the ground.

Instead of wasting time just smashing one robot, Mizzen tries to grab it before it can get back up, and swing the robot around like he normally would his wooden club to batter the others, doing his damnest to keep them away from the battering ram truck.
Samantha Middleton     Okay, panzer down is good news! Bad news: now the footsoldiers are moving around it to go after the ram. Well, Sam is nothing if not an improviser! "Oh no you don't!" She shouts, grabbing the wrecked panzer-spider-thing and forcing Fido to HEAVE! A loud whine and hiss sounds out from steam escaping from the previously-damaged hose, but it's enough anyway. She hurls the tank toward one of the groups, letting her turn and open fire with a rattling gatling on the other group, trying to at LEAST draw their fire, and ifnot that... well, the more she takes down, the better the ram's chances.

"Hey! Izzat guy gonna be okay?" She thinks not. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
Yang Xiao Long     Yang punches more at the tankspider, gutting it out with more explosions from her gauntlets. To the point it sparks, and topples over, spilling the blonde onto the ground behind its bulk at just the right time that the MEKA's explosion washes over the area. Thus protected from the blast, she rolls back to her feet, looking for more targets.

Now, someone like Yang is a /nightmare/ for ranged allies, because once she spots the Bastion-pattern units moving in on the ram, she roars and throws herself into the midst of them, likely getting hit by friendly fire just as much as by the point blank shots from the Omnics. Her Aura flares brightly, her rage stoked to its maximum... and then a Bastion smacks her with the butt of its machinegun, and she goes flying through a wall, a final flare of Aura sparking, before it goes out.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     KABOOM

Leyanne's tank round fires on the throng of robots engaging Hana. THey go kaboom, and Hana may be deafened for a bit given how close she was. She goes back to work, firing her laser pistol and such.

The robots are routed for the most part, especially as Mizzen goes for them directly, Athela following suit. There's a pause from Reinhardt, first as he glances at Genji, then to Samantha. He shakes is head grimly at her, before he sighs. "...you are correct, my friend." He says to Genji, before he brings up his shield. "EVERYONE RALLY, PROTECT THE RAM!" He orders one last time, before he charges to find Yang, flinging dudes left and right to try and rescue her. "YANG, YAAAAAANG!"

Some part of him is fearing the worst. THe gate is just ahead, and the thought of losing ANOTHER comrade here is too much for his heart to bear.
Genji Shimada     Reinhardt's head is in the game again. That's all Genji needs. He suddenly surges forward, striking at an Omnic en passant; it's nothing more than a brief swipe of opportunity, as his main goal is returning to the battering ram. He can do more good there than just about anywhere else right now, especially considering that it's still potentially under fire. If the remaining Bastions decide to open fire on it again, well.

We all know what the meanest counter to a dug-in Bastion is.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace picks herself back up, flexing her cybernetic shoulder to restore feeling in the connection beteen limb and mouse... well, that hurt. She gets up just in time to see Yang go flying, ducking into cover to make a few calls. She considers bringing the gun with her, but after a moment she decides it slows her down too much. She unslings the assault rifle the Colonel gave her and makes use of it instead, moving towards the ram to protect it.
When she's not trying to see just how bouncy she is, the mouse seems to be something of a competent soldier.
Athela Valemore The smashing and bashing of robots doesn't go without getting attacked in return. That's going to hurt. Later. Right now Mizzen's Fighting side is so far into the combat rush that pain is hardly a register. That and his stout, muscled body can tank through it at least for the time being. He will do this so his knightly trainer can finish her own part of the mission.

Athela has to resist the urge to go make sure Yang and Ms. Song are okay. Others say they are taking care of them. She has to have faith in her allies, and remain focused on completing this mission.

Athela digs an aquamarine gem out of one her belt's pouchs; when she holds it up a brief glow is released from it and consolidates itself into forming her Vaporeon in front of her. The pokejewel is put away for the moment, and then Athela points towards the objective looming ahead of them. "Okay Sprite. Aim for the gates, and use Ice Beam!"

"Vaaaaaap!" A stream of freezing elemental energy, almost looking what forks of lightning would if they were made of ice instead of electrical current, erupts from the pokemon's mouth towards the gate. It crackles over the surface as Sprite bobs her head to try and get more coverage.

Athela is hoping that icing over the gate will weaken it, making it easier for the battering ram to break through. The sooner they get inside, the sooner they can retrieve the fallen and get out of this lingering nightmare of a war long since passed.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone seems to be trying to deal with the last of pockes of the Bastion units. She admit though these things have been out exposed for how long? They are very well made to even be able to fight at all. She tracks the othes who are here Yang goes mad and Kotone makes notes to avoid fighting her if she can avoid it should it come to it. She keeps moving ducking and weaving any of her normal hestation is gone these things are not people after all.
Samantha Middleton     Finally, the ram is under way! That's something that relieves Sam, and she starts lumbering toward the gate to help with the assault! At least... that is the idea. The wrecked Omnics are unfortunately possessing a bad attribute for her. That is... being interesting tech. The torn up panzer gives her pause, and she stops and turns. "I'll be right there..." After tearing open the Omnic to take a quick look at its insides. Mid-battle. Priorities, Samantha!
Hana Song     "Hang in there, blondie!" D.Va calls out from her position near the ram. She actually leans up against the back side of it, using it as moving cover. Since the gunfire is dieing down, she's moving to more of a support role, periodically checking her wrist device for charge levels. No shots are fired from her light pistol, as the pokemon and other more heavily equipped (currently) attackers work over the Omnic force more fully than her little laser pistol could manage.

Instead, she focuses on guarding the rear in case anything comes scuttling out of the buildings behind the advancing battering ram, and also keeping an eye on downed allies like Yang who seem to be doing the recovery thing on their own.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     THe ram driver takes one in the chest in the middle of the fight. He slumps over, the horn honking a deep toot as Reinhardt's head whirls back. "...oh no." He charges for the ram, trying to get in position behind it. "Leyanne, I need your help with this!" He calls out to the space-maus, before he grunts in effort, pushing the vehicle into position slowly.

The machines are actually beginning to falter. Years of decay are taking their toll as they run low on ammo, and their rusted joints keep them from operating at peak capacity.

Mopping these guys up will be easy, as long as everyone keeps up their effort.
Genji Shimada     And Genji keeps his effort up indeed; in fact, with the machines starting to go down, he stops pacing himself, and starts pushing a little harder. Straight-ahead charges with only his blade to protect him, marking every bullet sent his way 'Return to Sender' and striking out with his blade the moment he's within reach. The only trick he doesn't pull out is the Dragonblade itself. THAT, he's saving in case of any surprises.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace looks over and blinks. She gives a thumbs up to Reinhardt, running over to put her shoulder against the back of the vehicle. Then she starts to push too, adding her not inconsequential strength to the old Knight's. "Keep 'em off us please guys."
Yang Xiao Long     Yang breaks cover as the weight of fire dies down. She looks exhausted, but the faint sheen of her Aura is visible again, having regenerated a little bit from being out of direct fire for a while. She's still got a few wounds, bleeding cuts on her legs and on her right upper arm, seeping blood that slowly coagulates. She rejoins the melee.. and then sees the driver of the ram go down. "Damn it." she rushes over to help, leaping onto the ram and pulling the body free before dropping into the seat. "Keep me covered! Lets do this thing!" she crows as she jams the pedal down. Now that doesn't send the ram lurching forwards, but it does keep it rolling.
Athela Valemore They came for one dead body... And are going to have to carry several more out with it.

But let's not dwell on that. You do not mourn the men that fall in battle, you honor their effort and sacrifice by making sure the quest they set out to do gets completed.

"Let us put an end to these forgotten constructs. Sprite, lend me some of thy strength!" The Vaporeon curls her tail around Athela's legs, letting her draw more from the elemental strength within her. "Tide of Justice, wash these mechanical sins away from the land!" Drawing upon both her own and her pokemon's aquatic powers, Athela forms a large vortex of churning waters and sends it spinning towards some of the lingering Omnics, the twisting spout resembling a cyclone made of water as it glides across the streets.
Hana Song     D.Va barks something in Korean when a stray round strikes off the ram too close to her for comfort, from the same spray of bullets that's taken out the machine's operator. Another string of Korean snaps out as she pushes her light gun out over the ram's bulk to fire at the perpetrator, sending bolts of blue-green energy at the offending Omnic. As she ducks back into cover, she checks her wrist device again, then grins. She gives it a tap, then hops back from the ram itself.

A fresh MEKA drops down right beside the ram itself, and with practiced ease D.Va hauls herself up into it from the back and slides into the controls in a single, smooth motion. Her camera is reattached to the interior of the new machine, "MEKA activated!"

Since Yang has taken over driving the ram, D.Va swings her machine around to cover the blonde's perch with her bulk. The light gun sees no further use-- now it's those fusion cannons back in the fight, backing up Genji's more personalized dispatching of worn down robots, "Looks like they're wearing thin! Without an omnium to keep spawning them, it's an easy game!"
Reinhardt Wilhelm     The ram roars to life when Yang commandeers it, and with Leyanne and Reinhardt both pushing it, and they push HARD, the ram begins to hurdle towards the gate up ahead. It's fast for it's mass, and it smashes through the gate with ease once it makes impact. All that momentum is helpful when breaking down barriers. Yang will probably have to bail before the vehicle slams into the castle's front door, and it stops dead in its tracks as the castle is...already open?

The omnics fall to the last, and Reinhardt sighs heavily as he tries to catch his breath, going for the castle gates.

Long ago, the Von Alder line ruled Eichenwalde. This was their home, their fiefdom, their /obligation./ Now, it is Von Alder's resting place, as Reinhardt heads down the halls slowly, reverently as he pries his helmet off.

The throne room is littered in fallen soldiers and Omnics alike, all long since dead, and only one is at the throne itself: General Baldric Von Alder himself, standing nine feet tall in ornate, gold tinted armor that makes Reinhardt's suit look downright shabby by comparison. The fallen General is slumped over, long since passed away, and the air is still in the throne room.

Wordlessly, Reinhardt salutes his fallen commander, his General, who had ordered all civilians and non-essential personnel to evacuate the township long ago during the war. Only he and other Crusaders stood and defended Eichenwalde while the army redoubled their forces to counterattack.

ALL of them died that day, and they died fighting to the end. It's a heavy moment, and only then does the weight bear down on Reinhardt's shoulders, a burden that is too much even for him, as he drops to a knee and bows his head.

Tears stream down from Reinhardt's eyes, and he slumps against his hammer as he chokes away sobs, "Gen-...Bal-..." No words come, just choked sobbing from the old warhorse. Closure isn't always happy, but it's still closure nonetheless, and Reinhardt has needed this for years. "...I am so sorry, General..." He weeps, openly and without restraint. "Why did you order me away? I should have stayed behind?" Questions with no answers, all questions Reinhardt has wondered for thirty years now.

And nothing will ever answer them now.
Yang Xiao Long     "Whoa damn that's fast."

Yang hauls herself out of the ram, and leaps off. Tucking and rolling as the vehicle careens through the gate.

The blonde brawler follows Reinhardt silent, even as the tall warrior falls to his knees and begins to weep. She merely steps up and places a hand on the great pauldron, offering silent support.
Genji Shimada     After Genji brings down his final targets, Genji Shimada goes silent. He falls still, standing calmly, until his hands come up to form a silent salute to the very Omnics he's brought down. He doesn't say a word aloud. But in his heart, he speaks a prayer.

'I am sorry that you could not escape the bonds of the old crisis, and find your own path. May you find rest in the Iris.'

The next anyone sees of him, the shinobi is falling into place beside Reinhardt. For long moments, he is silent, simply allowing the towering German man his grief. A warrior's tears are something he wouldn't dare intrude on. But finally, eventually, he rests a hand one one massive shoulder pauldron, and speaks.

"I do not know what went through his mind... but his choice was the right one. Thirty years ago, I watched a team of fearless, awe-inspiring men and women save the world. Stop the Omnic Crisis at its source. Among them was a giant man. A gallant, stalwart knight whose shoulders looked like they could handle the weight of the world. Thirty years ago, a little Japanese boy looked at that hammer and thought that at last, there was nothing left to fear."

He withdraws his hand, still speaking gently. "If he had not sent you away, Reinhardt, if he had allowed you to stay and perish with him... where would the world be now? Would there be anyone left to mourn him at all? If he was as great as he always seemed in historical footage, I think he knew that. I think he chose well."
Leyanne Leyanne Mace steps up beside Reinhardt as he enter the castle, gun ready. And then... oh.
She pulls off her helmet, holding it under one arm and stepping up to put her hand on Reinhardt's other shoulder. "How many people wouldn't you have been able to save, had you died here?" She begins. Then she closes her mouth as Genji says everything she wanted to say, only better.
Hana Song     Breakthrough! The ram does its duty and D.Va pursues Reinhardt into the castle's inner keep. However, once she sees what she's walking into, she brings her MEKA to a halt. Moments after the colossal German salutes the corpse slouched before him, the girl glances to the camera inside her MEKA's cockpit, "We'll be going off the air for a minute. What's coming up isn't something I should broadcast." Eyes closing, she smiles to the lens, "I'm respecting a hero's private matters. We'll be back when we're back!"

With a click, the feed to D.Va's livestream of the battle is terminated.

She disentangles herself from the MEKA's controls and slides out the back. Silently, she trots up to the warrior's side, slowing to a halt beside him and looking up at the enormous suit of armor seated there, as if ruling the crumbling kingdom in silence.

Hana Song has never suffered real loss in her life. As she struggles to find the words, she just reaches out, resting a hand on Reinhardt's enormous pauldron, even if she's pretty sure he wouldn't feel such a delicate gesture though the Crusader armor.

"Someone had to tell their story. So he sent his best. Thinking of everything you've done since then..." Squaring herself to the seated monarch, Hana Song brings her hands together and performs a traditional, low bow until her forehead touches her fingers, "There is far too much to thank you for, General."
Athela Valemore The once majestic castle was only filled with the eerie silence of a crypt, which was in some ways a suitable match to the sight sprawled out through it's forgotten halls. Brave men fought to their end here; the bitter end for what they believed in. Deaths that were saddening, but at the same time, a tremendous honor. The deaths of brave soldiers was one thing... How many more would of died had they not sent the civilians away while they stood against the unfathomable odds?

This was not her world, but Athela could still honor their brave sacrifice, holding her sword up in a solemn salute before sheathing it. Rubble crunchs under her heel as Athela turns and puts one hand upon Reinhardt's arm (his shoulders are already well occupied), one knight to another. Her Vaporeon on the other hand takes a less crowded position, rubbing gently against Reinhardt's armored shin as a dog trying to console another would do.

"I believe your friends are correct, Sir Reinhardt. He sent you out not in fear, but so you could continue the noble mission he and his men had started. The end of one legacy.. and the beginning of more."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa finds her way in for a moment she wonders for a moment here as they enter the hall where the remains She does walk upto Reinhardt. He world had a crisis that nearly consum4d the world in nuclear fire. It was only those in the lower ranks who stood up against the madness that stopped it from ending humanity's story on her woprld. She thiks for a moment she lisens and she doesn't know what to say to the big man as she moves near by in a clear effort to comfort the German Knight, he was not a noble so far as she knew but he held up to the ideal that the Knights at least on her would exposed to. She finds her words for amoment.

"If you all fell no one would be left to carry on and from what little I know? You did...You kept making your world a better place."
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt sniffles again, and he considers the words of the others. It's pretty unanimous, and Balderich was always one to look at the bigger picture. His family line weren't just generals, but kings and later statesmen. It was clear that he would lay his life down to ensure the greater good. It was what made his sacrifice all the more powerful, and tragic.

Breathing deep, Reinhardt composes himself after a long silence, and he sighs softly. "You...you are right, all of you. Were it not for his sacrifice, Eichenwalde would be long lost by now, and Germany would follow suit, maybe even the rest of Europe as well." He says, petting the Vaporeon's ears. He nods again, and stands to his feet, approaching the general's body. "It is time to bring you home, sir." He whispers softly enough only the General can hear, and then tries to pry Balderich free. Other servicemen pour into the room, both in awe and quick to assist Reinhardt however they can as they roll in a massive freight cart. Someone may need to grab the hammer.
Leyanne Leyanne Mace picks up Reinhardt's hammer, hefting it neatly up onto her cybernetic shoulder with a grunt of effort, hanging back out of the way
Athela Valemore Sprite rubs into the armored hand as it scritchs her ear-fins. Athela steps back as the armored giant stands again to give him room. "Now just need to retrieve Mizzen..."

As if on cue a robotic leg, all that remains of the Bastion Mizzen had been using as a blunt weapon, clunks to the floor as the exhausted pokemon leans on it, looking his share of battered and bruised. "Good job, Mizzen. Go rest on the transport." Then she starts to walk back out after motioning for Sprite to follow her. "Let us go make sure there are no stray units lurking in ambush as we depart again."
