Yomi Isayama Yet another Tokyo has recently unified with the multiverse. This is nothing special, as it probably happens at least every few days!

What is less common is when the first communication occurs a few days after unification, warning of potential supernatural invasion. "This is the Ministry of the Environment contacting whoever can hear. A number of specters have appeared in the vicinity of our warp gate. We have dispatched the Supernatural Extermination Team, but be on guard in case any escape. This supernatural activity has been classified as Category D."

Those brave enough to venture through the warpgate will find themselves in Tokyo at nighttime. The streets are eerily empty of citizens, even despite the late hour.

And then a parked car explodes.

Those with no supernatural senses whatsoever may still catch a glimpse of... -something- in the flickering shadows from the flames leaping up from the car. Not long after, a few people, not really more than ten, begin walking slowly toward the warpgate.

Well, walkng may be too strong of a word. 'Shambling' better describes what they're doing.

Of course, those with supernatural senses will soon see that there are a few more than ten. For every one easily visible, there are over a dozen flickering forms, coalescing into vaguely human shapes as they shamble alongside the ones with physical bodies.
Nozomi Houken     When you get right down to it, Nozomi and Taiga are suited for this twice over. In her capacity with the Concord, 'user/companion of an anti-supernatural weapon' is pretty much her only claim to fame; in her capacity with Heaven or Hell, it's her actual job description. It's also, as things turn out, not /that/ far from her own Japan, meaning the warpgate trip isn't particularly difficult.

Once on the other side, though, they're greeted with what could very well be the walking dead. The robotic tiger is, immediately, quite tense; there won't be any negotiating or investigating here. This is where his primary purpose comes in. "Nozomi. Stay back. Close to the warpgate."

She slides off his back with a hasty, nervous nod, and the robotiger takes a step or two forward. The cannons at either shoulder twitch, then begin to track, each one locking onto a target and beginning to unload blasts of yellow energy. It's a blend of magical and particle; perfectly suited to both physical and nonphysical enemies.

At the same time, though, his ears twitch, taking a cursory scan of the oncoming specter horde.
Xiaomu Fortunately for all concerned, Xiaomu's lightcycle comes plowing out of the warpgate at a moment when nobody is liable to get run over; she lays the lightcycle down to begin shedding speed, de-rezzing it and tucking into a roll; by the time the lightcycle is all the way down to baton form, the sage fox from Shinra has come out of her roll in a low crouch, staff stuck through a couple of straps on the carrypack slung across her back, and a gun in each hand - Silver and Platinum, it looks like.

She doesn't rise from her crouch right away; her ears are perked up, twitching this way and that, flattening against the sides of her head briefly as Taiga opens fire. More than just her ears, though?

She's trying to use her nose. Different supernatural beings have a characteristic smell, at least to her senses; it may not always be a physical smell but it's still easier to describe in those terms. Usually. If she can get some sense of what these 'specters' correlate with in her experience, it could help her sort out what might be more effective against them.

For the time being, though, after she's taken stock of the initial situation, she opens fire as well - but only with one of her handguns. She'd just as soon not waste *two* clips of normal rounds finding out whether they'll do any good; she can switch to anti-spirit loads easily enough, but wants to figure out if she *needs* to, first.
Kotone Yamakawa Yet another Tokyo? Kotone didn't mind it while she was not raised in Japan? She'd spent a lot of time in New Tokyo or even the ruins of the old. So seeing an interact verison was always something good for the young cyborg. She has no supernatural powers but she has a lot of experiance with it. She was clad in stealth armour as she very much tends to these days. The woman was worried though given this world openly talked about magic and had a warning. She wasn't long before she'd ended up on site cloaked with optic cameo for the moment. she swore she saw something she's not sure and there's something shambling to the gate. Oh this isn't good, this is nto good at all.

<<Oh god, thses things...>>

Memories of the flith come up raidly and that has her trying to keep in contct with Xiaomu who knows these thing better. She holds her fire and intends to trust Xiaomu's experiance and skills in these matters. Also the arrival of Nozomi and Taiga is noticed as well it's been a while since she saw them.
Staren     Some world is being attacked by SPOOKY GHOOOSTS! Err, 'spectres'. Staren may not be in the Union anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't still do the hero thing!

He steps out of the warpgate already armored up and ready to fight. Well, as ready as he CAN be to fight ghosts he knows nothing about, anyway.

As he looks around, his muse searches for local wireless networks, trying to get an internet connection to learn about this world. He turns suddenly at the explosion, then looks around warily at the source, the beam cannons on his arm ready...

<<"These 'specters'...">> he transmits on whatever band the locals sent their message on. <<"Are they posessed living people that can be saved? Animated zombies? What is their method of attack, besides shambling threateningly towards us?">> Without more information, he's hesitant to begin firing on them unless they demonstrate being an actual threat to him.
Kirito The warpgate flickers once more, and a black blur bursts free of it and swoops up into the skies too fast to really get a view of him. Kirito's fine with this though - the Spriggan doesn't WANT to be identified or bothered until he has a decent idea of what's going on!

And what he finds is... troubling, to say the least. In a matter of moments he's flown up to a windowsill for an observation perch.

Some flickers of fear can be seen in the young man's eyes. He's not sure WHAT to make of actual spirits that he can barely make out when he squints. What do they want? Can they be hurt with Sword Skills? And why is the city COMPLETELY empty...?

"Just what happened in this world...?"
Yomi Isayama To both supernatural nose and supernatural sensors, the specters appear to be just that: undead. Xiaomu may notice a youkai 'flavor' to them, though they really aren't too different from vengeful spirits.

Taiga's magical particle beams have an immediate and obvious effect, easily blasting holes through the spirits. A few of them soldier on despite gaping holes punched in them, but many just dissipate into nothingness.

The mundane bullets have a little effect, but not terribly much. There are visible holes in the spirits, and any bullets that strike the actual physical ones make them stagger back from the impact. One of them even loses an arm, but keeps on shambling. It seems these things don't feel pain.

Now that they're getting closer, some of the physical bodies seem to be in remarkably good shape (aside from the fresh bullet holes). Some of them are wearing what appears to be soldiers' uniforms, complete with helmet and riot facemask. A few even have rifles strapped on their back, but they don't seem to think to use them.

A few moments later, a girl's voice, younger than the one that put out the general alert earlier, can be heard on that band. "Gotta ask the hard questions, don't you? No, they can't be saved. But do you really want to find out what happens when they get to you? Hang on--" Click.

A brief wind picks up as a figure darts across the edge of the crowd of shambling specters. Something metallic glints in the light, and a few of the things disappear into nothingness. "What happened to this world," says the girl as she becomes visible under a flickering street lamp, "is a police force that knows when to get people away from dangerous areas. You want to fight ghosts with people getting in the way?" The girl grins, lifting a long katana in one hand and resting its blunt edge on her shoulder. "Makes it a lot harder. It's bad enough the Ministry of Defense fools keep getting in our way." She tilts her head toward one of the physical zombies with a military uniform. "Didn't turn out too well for them." Her free hand comes to rest on a hip as she glances toward the oncoming specters. "My name's Yomi, with the SDCD. Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division. I didn't expect to see so many come through here, but there's not a lot of time. Better ask any questions fast before they get much closer."
Nozomi Houken     Despite being a cat, Taiga is surprisingly steady. He turns his head slightly to regard the arrivals of Staren, Kotone, and that-black-blur-that's-probably-Kirito, but Xiaomu gets the most attention - largely because she tends to be the one his user views most favorably. "Hello," he greets idly. That new arrival, though, the local - she /quickly/ gets the TIGER's undivided attention.

"I am the Technology-Integrated Gensou Engine Rampart unit," he greets Yomi. "You may call me TIGER. The girl behind me near the warpgate is my user, Nozomi Houken." Nozomi herself gives Yomi the briefest of nods; she's really too nervous to do much else. Almost looks like she shouldn't be here, but there she is. Taiga continues, "Almost none of my questions at the moment are worth asking. I will focus on what's important - are these likely to be the only resistance we meet?"

Despite asking questions, he's already sauntering forward, his ears and nose both working as the robotiger fully engages his onboard sensor suite. Time for a more in-depth scan of the city before he goes on the attack.
Staren     When Yomi says they can't be saved, Staren takes her word for it and starts shooting. A few missiles, normal (and cheaper) high explosives instead of fancy high-tech plasma fire into groups of embodied specters from one of his shoulder launchers. Staren tries aiming at the heads of the embodied specters with his beam cannons, to see if that 'kills' them. Also experimenting to see what damage he can do to the ghostly figures with it. "The Multiverse is full of helpful people. I'm honestly surprised there aren't /more/ here."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is going to be a bit more creative with her shots as she sees normal attack don't do much but they are not useless. She pulls her SMG and now lines up trying to shoot the things legs out from under them to slow them own she hears a girl calling out for a moment. She shifts her shooting hearing they can't be saved to the ones with forms, trying to put her bullets to work on the physical zombies.

"Kotone Yamakawa."

He optic camo fade revealing her to be in aperrance japanese herself, though something is a bit off about her eyes and maybe even supernaturally. But she isn't hostile.

"I'm with the PAladins."

The black blurr is noticed? Humm could be kirito she heard he was active still after the universe wnet kaboom.

"Taiga? Nazomi? Good to see your still about."

She also looks to Xiaomu and to STaren who ha just arrived as well.

"Good to mee you but we may want to deal with the source of the problem if they just took those soldiuers..."
Xiaomu See, that's why Xiaomu bothered with normal bullets; sometimes, they *DO* work well enough. This isn't one of those happy cases, though, and the sage fox swaps magazines in both of her handguns, chambering the first bullet from each. "Don't really want to find out what these things can do up close, no," she replies to the new arrival. "Here, let's see if I can buy us some time to talk."

She opens fire once again, bolting and ducking and darting about, going full gun-kata on the specters. Not that she expects any of them have the ability to shoot back, but why make herself an easy target on *that* assumption?

"... oh yeah, introductions," the sage fox adds almost distractedly while she's busy shooting things. "Name's Xiaomu, I work for an agency called Shinra that might be some help, field agents like me are generally versed in fighting supernatural nasties! - Hey Nozomi, Taiga, Staren, Kotone," she rattles off to finish her self-introduction. "And good to meet you, Yomi!"
Kirito Zombies. They're basically ZOMBIES. That's the conclusion Kirito comes to after seeing what the others who came are up to down there, and the realization sends a deep shiver down his spine. His whole body shakes and shivers and he gulps hard.

His first experience in the Multiverse was finding himself in a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE CITY protecting a few survivors, before the Union showed up. It was a bloody, gruesome, noisy and terrifying affair that haunted his nightmares for weeks afterwards.

Zombies. He HATES zombies. WHY does it have to be zombies? The Black Swordsman clenches his teeth, having just about figured out - he hopes - is the situation.

He just hopes that these things can't strangle him or possess him across FullDive. But here's an opportunity to learn more about threats in the Multiverse if he's careful. There's even more Elites around. Elites he knows.

Kirito leaps off the windowsill and casually drops a good ten stories before summoning his wings to break his fall just enough to avoid damage and nausea on impact with the cement. It still kicks up a wind and some dust, with a mighty thump. Just in time for Xiaomu to notice him, it seems.

Though there's someone here he DOESN'T recognize... and the fact that she has purple eyes, is dressed simply, and carries only a katana IMMEDIATELY tells him she's not your everyday human. "Hoh... she's pretty good..."

He's impressed with her speed, to say the least. He'd be hard-pressed to keep up with that. But they stand together as allies here... right?

He'll just have to hope for the best around this new girl. And hope that a certain other pattern of events doesn't hold true... he doesn't need MORE awkward misunderstandings with dangerously powerful girls.

    It just keeps happening.

Resolve burning in his dark eyes, Kirito reaches up behind his back and unsheathes Vox Unitas, his black longsword of enchanted obsidian.

"And I'm Kirito. It isn't enough to just cut down the shamblers, is it? The spirits possessing them will just hop to new victims..."
Yomi Isayama Mystical bullets definitely work well, but missiles and plasma do as well. Even mundane bullets do a little damage to them and keep them from moving very easily when holes are blasted in their legs. The firepower does buy them a bit more time.

"I definitely appreciate the hand. The rest of my team is dealing with a bigger bunch than this." Almost on cue, an explosion sounds from the distance, visible over the roofs of shorter buildings. "Heh.. that'd be them. Though with that much firepower, it makes me wonder if anything else showed up..." There's some time now though, so she turns back to the others. "Good to meet you all, though. Just... don't get eaten or anything on my watch. I'd never hear the end of it."

Pause. Yomi peers at Nozomi for a moment... and then moves in quickly and latches onto the girl with a hug. "So cute~! You're about Kagura's age, I bet!" Yomi grins and gives the girl's head a light pet before releasing her. "Anyway! Look close enough, you'll see the spirits attached somewhere to the dead bodies. Usually on their heads. They're probably under the helmets." Yomi frowns slightly and shakes her head. "Still, for so many of them to be here..." Her gaze shifts over to Kirito's sword, one eyebrow quirking. "I haven't seen a Western style sword for a long time. But it should do fine all the same." Yomi gives her katana a quick swing in the air. "If we can finish these things off quickly, then maybe--"

Yomi is interrupted by her cell phone ringing. "Ah, sorry. It's the chief..." She pulls her phone on and flips it open. "Yomi here. Yes, some allies from off world. This should be taken care of--what? -What- level? R..right. We'll handle it, then. Keep the rest of the team where they are."

As she hangs up the phone, Yomi lets out a sigh. "So... good news and bad news. Good news is, these things seem to be contained in this part of the city. Bad news..." She glances off into the distance. "They detected a Category B incoming. We've got about twenty seconds."

About a block away, a car is suddenly flattened, then another. A lamppost twists and bends, crashing to the ground. "...maybe less than that." As the presence gets closer, it flickers into visibility, flames runing along its back as its eyeless head looks this way and that. It focuses directly on the only living people nearby and suddenly begins to trot, then leaps and curls into a wheel, closing the distance with surprising speed.

"Move, quick!"
Nozomi Houken     The approach by Yomi is so unexpected that for a moment, the girl simply looks perplexed. Then she looks a tad worried. She even shrinks back a little bit, just a smidge nervous. Then-

    Glomp.

    "E-eh...?"

By the time the quiet girl is released, she's bright red with embarrassment, fidgeting in place. "Ah... th... thanks...?" she mumbles, completely uncertain how to react to this. But about the same time as Yomi's phone rings, Taiga is suddenly turning to look into the distance. He goes very still, in the manner of a predator that has just sighted prey.

"Nozomi," he says, voice faintly tense. "R-right...!" This is an old dance for them. The girl moves up onto his back swiftly, and he turns; by the time Yomi hangs up her phone, he is giving the youkai-slayer an expectant look. The kind of look a cat gives when it is wondering what is taking the human so long.

But then it approaches and he's moving even before it shows itself properly. The robotiger takes a long leap up to the nearest rooftop, where he can stop and observe. "...It has a significant spiritual presence," he finally observes. There's faint concern there. Nozomi's expression grows worried.
Xiaomu Xiaomu finishes off her share of the local batch of specters, taking a moment to blow holes through one or two helmets - where Yomi mentioned the specters themselves might be attached to the bodies - and then takes a couple moments to reload ...

Which is right about when the Category B shows up. "Category B as in Boss, right?" the sage fox calls out with a casual demeanor totally at odds with the freak-out you'd probably expect from her. And, well, it's not impossible that she *is* freaking out a little bit. Her handguns are holstered inside her vest again, and Xiaomu reaches for her staff with one hand. "I've got a couple of tricks that might help, but - Yomi, how much does this thing depend on ambient mystical energy to keep going? Would a warding circle weaken it appreciably, or would we be lucky to just trap it long enough to make bigger holes in the thing?"

She's not just waiting on the answer, though. Fiery though the Category B may happen to be, Xiaomu also draws a grenade out of her vest, pulls the pin, pops the spoon, and lobs the thing up at the Kasha's face. Hopefully the grenade will go down its throat at just the right moment. If not ...

Well, if the Kasha isn't so obliging as to *swallow* the grenade, that just means they'll have an even better view of how much damage a magically fire-element-enhanced grenade does to something that already looks like it's inherently on fire.
Staren     Spirits hiding in the helmets, huh? So headshots are probably a good idea.

He just gives Yomi a slightly puzzled look as she randomly glomps someone.

And then... a new monster comes in. A big one. Staren manifests energy wings which buzz like and insects as he makes long flying hops backward to stay ahead of the creature while testing the effectiveness of his energy weapons on it.

"I'm Staren by the way, researcher for the League of Progress. But I fight bad guys and monsters too!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Understood Miss Isayama."

Kotone's speaking japanese but it's a bit accecent if one pays attention, it's faint though. She has some more fire piower with her which could help with dethse things. Even if it's just keeping them waylaied so the like of Yomi and Xiaomu can deal with the magical part of things. She can at the very lest give support in some fashion.s he's moving ahead now with everyone as the call is made she pauses she cloaks again almost vanishing entirely as she goes and she'll now make ready to deal with it.

She moves, she does't make to attack just yet but she's priming a pair of plasma grenades she's got an idea...
Kirito This exchange eases Kirito's anxieties considerably. Yomi's trustworthy. He's pretty sure of that now.

Any girl who behaves even a little like Zekken is quite alright in his book.

So he focuses his attention on the situation at hand. because... BOOOOM!

The pavement itself shaking has Kirito immediately toting that western sword up into a guard...

"Uweh... this thing has no care for anyone's property. Does it think it's invulnerable...?" He murmurs to himself, a mixture of curiosity and disdain weaving in with a bit of fear.

"Where do these things COME FROM?!"

His wings reappear out of light flowing from his back, and vibrate instantly up to speed with an almost musical hum. He bunches his legs up and then SWOOPS over the battlefield, a blur of motion, then swerves up into the heavens, staying off to the side instead of directly above the titanic specter. Because heat rises, yuck.

"It's covered in FIRE. Not the best situation to be using a sword in..."

Well, that would be why he isn't just using a sword. Because that thing is on fire. In his free hand... is one of the rifles that had, moments ago, been strapped to the possessed troopers' corpses. He doubts it will do much while he takes aim... but every little bit might help.

And so, Kirito opens fire with the pilfered weapon! Assuming it works.

Either way, his aim is pretty bad. Good thing the target's too big to miss right?
Yomi Isayama "Heh.. heh heh.. Be glad this isn't boss level." Yomi shakes her head. "The strongest ones on record are Category A. I've never fought one myself, so I'm counting my blessings on that..." She frowns briefly, but something the sage fox says gets her attention. "You can make a warding circle? It would definitely help slow it down if nothing else! I'm not really the best at setting those up. I usually leave it to the others.."

The kasha is no dodongo, so it doesn't try to eat the grenade. It does let out a shrill roar at the explosion that goes off in its face, though, taking a staggering step back. Energy weapons give it pause as well, exploding against its tough hide. The kasha shakes its head and curls forward again, once more rolling to close the distance.

"Ah... it's dangerous, but not really that smart. I'm not sure how self-aware it is. Something like this is formed of bad thoughts from corpses. It might be some yakuza got himself killed recently, but it's hard to track when they first aggregate..." She glances up at Kirito as he... flies? "...huh. But you're right. Don't think swords and bullets will do much more than annoy it. Xiaomu, if you can manage to bind it in place... Anyone else have bigger guns? We'll hit it all together."

Closing her eyes, Yomi holds her sword out in front of her. "Come forth.. Ranguren!"

Suddenly, there is an -incredibly- strong spiritual pressure right next to Yomi, a moment before a large beast materializes. A dozen glowing blue eyes shine from a monkey-like face with the fangs and mane of a lion, and a number of snake tails sway behind it. Yomi reaches her hand up and rests it on the Nue's flank. "Once it's held in place, we'll hit it together. Everyone ready?"
Xiaomu "That's a Kasha," Xiaomu calls out by way of explanation to Kirito, answering one or two questions. "Basically, a cat's ghost managed to possess a human corpse that hadn't been warded against it well enough, maybe somebody forgot to care enough about doing that. I'm not sure how it got THAT big, but given the feline ego ..."

Apparently her intel on kasha is a little different from Yomi's. "I've got ice magic, that's the only thing you haven't seen me try using yet!" Xiaomu replies to the question of 'bigger guns'. She sorta wishes Reiji was around, but it shouldn't take him to bring the kasha down.

For now, she sprints to a slightly better vantage point, then plants her staff next to her with her left hand, right hand alight with mystical energy as she gathers and focuses her powers. "Senko Youjutsu: Kimon Fuuji!!" she shouts; the Multiverse helpfully translates her words so that non-Japanese-speakers can understand perfectly - Sage Fox Sorcery: Demon Gate Seal.

And in response to the combination of invocation and focus, a magic circle flares into existence beneath the Kasha's feet, a globe of supernatural force attempting to form around the fiery monster and lock it into place, containing whatever it might try to unleash but allowing attacks from *outside* to go *in* easily enough.

The downside is that Xiaomu is stuck where *she's* standing as long as she's maintaining the 'lockdown' - and trying to contain something the size of the Kasha is going to drain her reserves pretty fast.
Nozomi Houken     "I..." Nozomi looks at Yomi down on the ground, then at the Kasha, then at Taiga. Just getting close to that thing will cause him danger, even if his claws might be able to harm it. But at this range, the cannons won't do much. There's a moment where she looks torn, then...

"...I have a sword that can hurt it," she says, only just loud enough to be heard from the rooftop. Taiga turns to look at her silently for a moment, then...

               "Disengaging Independent Mode. Rerouting Gensou
Engine power to motive and combat systems."
                           "Rampart Mode engaged."

Armor shifts, retracts, changes shape. A black bodysuit envelops Nozomi. Her expression changes, eyes turning gold, hair fading to black. It's like some strange, technological version of a magical girl transformation, right down to the part where she reaches out to grab her newly formed two-hander blade.

Cold, harsh eyes level on the now-bound kasha below. They flick briefly to Ranguren, then back to the massive youkai. Without a word, she leaps off the rooftop, jets kicking in to hold the armored girl up in the air-

                             "EM Siege Breaker."

-until TIGER's voice, now little more than a 'system announcement', declares the attack. The massive blade lights up as energy floods it, empowering the already-magical blade further still; she descends with a wordless attack, jets on the sword accelerating it into a mighty falling slash. The true power of the EM Zanbatou is not just the increased cutting power the torrent of magic gives it - it's the fact that, once the blade has broken through, all that compressed mana will explode, giving it the power to slay even dragons.
Staren     "Category A? Man, you just know that means a category S is gonna show up..." Staren points out.

"Bad thoughts from corpses? Corpses can have thoughts? Ugh... metaphysics here must be... interesting..."

He nods at the plan. "Sure thing!" He gets back, out of Xiaomu's circle, and pulls an oversized revolver from his bag. When Yomi calls for them to fire, he starts shooting, adding the missiles and beams to the mix as well as the mad science revolver meant to overcome weaknesses. Who knows what that will mean for this thing?
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa hears gaming terms, she's used to Kirito spouting them off sure given the Death Game and all that he had to deal with. She howrver start to debate on if the plasma grenades are a gfood idea she thinks all this fire? Means the plasma won't do much. She disarmes them and keeps moving. She does however have ome other ideas such as just focusing her fiure with the rest of hte part. She'll wait until the thing is held in place and then? Then Kotone witll strke and likely end up using all the bullets she has on this thing, but it's better than nothig, right?
Kirito ZAP! There goes Xiaomu! Kirito seizes this opportunity.

The Kasha was a huge threat when it is ON FIRE and moving around, but Xiaomu's binding skill changes things considerably.

Kirito gestures a few times and... oddly enough, the rifle he pilfered flickers blue and vanishes into nothing?! In its place a second sword appears. The crystal blue blade, Divination. Two scabbards now cross on his back, both bearing the white wyvern emblem of Lizbeth's smithy. He DIVES with all due haste, slamming the pavement hard enough to crack it. Won't be pleasant for anyone nearby, but since skills like Xiaomu's only last for a few seconds...

"Now to make the most of this... how about a RAGE SPIKE!?" To Kirito, the whole battle moves hyper slowly the more he focuses on his sword. Everything is an intricate dance of timing. Vox Unitas' whole length erupts in flame. Blazing, rushing flame and a thick sheath of crimson energy. It's THRUST forward with terrific speed! But the moment the explosive blast that results from that ends, his second sword shines frosty-blue and unleashes a chilly wave. Kirito's motions again move with freakish speed and precision as he carves glowing, freezing paths across the Kasha. Ice explodes into exponentially bigger and bigger crystal chunks in the wake of four slashes that draw a number 'four' in the air before the contrails fade...

Then, his first blade shines again! The obsidian weapon's covered in purplish light, casting electric arcs every which way...

The barrage contains. Lightning. Light, Darkness, Earth. One top-level One-Handed Sword Skill after another without ANY of the typical stuntime that should accompany them. In the end he's unleashed every element in the book, a 34-strike combo executed in about seven seconds...

There he goes again, breaking ALO's system over his knee.
Yomi Isayama "As far as I know, there's never been anything over Category A since..." Yomi shakes her head. "That was centuries ago. That sort of thing doesn't happen anymore., thank goodness." Tempting fate? Naw.....

A smile crosses Yomi's face as she sees the sage fox's bind spell. "Now that's useful..." It seems to work pretty well, in fact. With one of its feet locked in place, the kasha tries to move forward but ends up stumbling, crashing down to the ground with a roar. It does manage to get its footing again, but with its leg still locked in place, it's an easy target. The missiles, beams, and bullets all strike the immobilized kasha.

As Nozomi and Kirito fly upward, Yomi points her sword toward the creature. "Ranguren, Houkouha!" The nue growls and opens its mouth, forming a large ball of energy that swirls in place before launching like a beam cannon, striking the kasha's damaged hide.

The rapidly changing elemental sword strikes from Kirito and massive powered single strike from Nozomi's Rampart Mode overload the beast's already weakened defenses and, with a howling sound, it explodes into red particles and dissipates into the air.

"...phwew! I think that did it." Yomi pauses and glances around, just to make sure she didn't speak too soon... but then gives a decisive nod and sheathes her sword. Ranguren vanishes as well, and Yomi looks back at the others. "That did it. Thanks... that would not have been fun for me to handle on my own."
Nozomi Houken     Down comes Nozomi, boosters kicking in at the last moment to push her away from the kasha's body. She lands in a skid on the street, swinging the EM Zanbatou up into an aggressive guard... but it's done, and sensors seem to confirm that.

Clunk, clunk, clunk goes the armor as Nozomi turns, walking her way towards Yomi. She seems to be regarding Ranguren rather warily, but it's been dismissed; after a few seconds, the silent girl tilts her head slightly, and there's another 'system announcement'. "Disengaging Rampart Mode. Rerouting Gensou Engine power to cognitive and sensory systems. Independent Mode engaged."

It's the same in reverse; armor shifting and retracting, Nozomi stepping out, the bodysuit disappearing to leave her regular school uniform, the color fading from her eyes and reasserting itself in her hair... and then there's the change of expression, the brief shudder of revulsion at the personality of her 'other self'. Taiga pads up close to her, right up against her side, and doesn't move. "I am designed for the express purpose of hunting and destroying supernatural threats. It is my primary function," he explains simply.
Staren     Their collective powers down the monster! The day is safe.

Staren turns as Yomi talks, the shoulder missile launcher popping down behind his shoulder again as he swings open the revolver's cylinder and reloads. Just in case.

"I've never understood why people who fight monsters all the time don't all carry this many weapons. Do you need some weapons? I know some guys..."

Taiga also explains his function. "Ohhh! That explains a lot." <<Staren, he's said that before.>> "He has?" Staren suddenly seems to be talking to someone only he can see. <<Yes.>> "Well, I forgot! That's why I have a muse in the first place."

Then he approaches Yomi, putting the gun away and holding out a hand to shake. "Well, it's nice to meet you. Do you need help with anything else? Are you new to the Multiverse?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa wondered how long this Category B would have taken to deal with ain a smaller group. It's down though after eceyrthing and she lowers her weapon turning off the optic cameo.

"I always fele a bit at a loss dealing with magic. I really should invest in some enchanted ammo at this rate. Is eveyrone else all right?"

She looks around and takes note of Yomi with intrest. "Glad to help you out, and does this ... happen often here?"
Kirito The thing EXPLODED into red mist... Kirito, the moment his stunlock is up a few seconds later... strikes at the air as if to fling blood from his blades, and smoothly sheathes them across his back. It's such a practiced motion by this point that it's become pure habit.

"There were more of those things than I could really track earlier. This would've been a disaster if an invisible one like this were roaming around... Whew."
Yomi Isayama That change of expression isn't hard for Yomi to notice, but she decides not to ask about it just yet. There will be a better time. "...oh, really? Maybe you should come hang out here more often. I bet they'd love both of you at the office. I know the chief would love you..." That last bit is directed at Taiga with a grin.

"Mmm? Shishioh usually does pretty well for me." She rests her hand on the hilt od her sword. "We usually go out in groups, too. Tonight's incident just necessitated that we split up." She takes the offered hand and shakes it. "I'm no good with guns anyway. I leave that to Nabuu and Nabuu." Kotone is given a lopsided smile. "Often enough that we have an organization to take care of it, but rarely enough that life still goes on with most people never knowing this stuff is going on."

Yomi reaches for her phone again and, after a few seconds of furious texting, smiles. "They're not detecting any more supernatural activity int he city right now. Looks like we got it all tonight." The motion with the swords draws her attention briefly. "Bigger ones usually tend to attract a lot of small ones. It was the kasha's fault we had to deal with so many Category D specters here."
Nozomi Houken     Taiga gives Staren a brief look, head tilted slightly.

It is the closest a feline posture can come to 'r u srs m8'.

He turns back to Yomi, however, and replies, "If you have need of our services, Nozomi and I are for hire at any time through the offices of Heaven or Hell. There are a great many supernatural specialists there, in fact." He shifts his body; just enough so that his weight nudges Nozomi slightly forward. She squeaks, shaken out of her moment of quiet recovery - and then, with something of an embarrassed look (despite the fact she's still shaking a little), she takes a few steps forward to offer a business card for Yomi. "If... if you need anything... there's a number for Heaven or Hell on there, and... and for me, too."
Staren     "I dunno about 'hanging out', there's just so much Multiverse to see, but I'm happy to help out." Staren pulls a tablet from his bag to show her his contact information to put in her phone or take a picture of or whatever. Then he awkwardly asks, "By the way, um, if the League rejects my expense report for 'experiment to see if explosives affect ghosts', can I invoice your department for those missiles? It's fine if not, just, without the Union covering all my expenses, I have to try and recoup expenses when I can."
Yomi Isayama The card is taken and looked over. "Ha... sorry, I don't have one to give to you. I don't officially work for the Ministry." Yomi does reach out to give Nozomi's hair a brief muss, though. "I'll give you a call sometime, though. Set up a visit, one way or the other."

She glances at Staren's tablet and taps the contact information into her phone. "Mmm... Can't promise anything, but I wouldn't count on it. We don't get too much funding nowadays. They seem to think the Ministry of Defense can handle this stuff, but they're really really bad at it..."
