Sokka Sokka took a deep breath as he walked through the streets of Malibu. He could do this. He would do this. He'd... make it. Some how. His heart hammered, his mouth was dry, his hands were clenched. But he'd make do, somehow.

He'd talked to his friends and other people, and they'd cleared things up for him. He'd been an idiot. So, what else was new? So he walked up to the Stark household and took a long, slow breath.

He could do this. "It's me, Sokka." He told Jarvis. "Please open the gate." If, well, he didn't, he'd just jump it. It'd hardly be the first time he broke the rules and this time it was important. This time it HAD to be done. He'd make his way up to the house. If the door was unlocked, he'd push it open... otherwise... "Please tell Toph to come out. We need to talk. And I'm not leaving until we do. If she wants, she can call the cops to have me arrested, or toss me out herself. But I'll just come back. I can be just as stubborn as her."

He wasn't exactly thinking clearly. Heck, he was on the verge of panic, his heart pounding so fast it might explode. But his friend was hurting. Because of him and if ever there was a reason to do something stupid, now was it.
Toph Beifong     As Sokka arrives at the Stark estate, there's nothing that keeps the gate closed. Perhaps Tony himself had a hand in that as he did suggest that Sokka should crawl back to Toph on his knees and beg her forgiveness. Jarvis speaks up as the young water tribe warrior enters. "Miss Beifong is in the living room. As for your stubbornness matching hers, I am inclined to disbelieve that considering the times I've butted heads with her," the British voice intones with what might be humour.

As said, Toph is curled up on the couch and visible from the entry hall. All in all the girl looks tired, as if she's half asleep and only partially paying attention to a movie on the wall sized TV. Which might be the reason she doesn't seem to have noticed that there's somebody arriving. And she doesn't look elegant either, half snoring, wearing a dirty t-shirt with what looks like some dried baby vomit on the shoulder. At least it seems like she's been busy helping take care of her baby brother.
Sokka Sokka took a slow, deep breath before pushing the door open. He walked inside, as quietly as he could and then... when he was behind her. "Toph. We need to talk." Yeah, sneak up on the incredibly powerful, and distracted earth bender, this would end well!

And then he grabbed her by her shoulders if she tried to flee. His heart hammered all the worst and he stared at her. "Toph... I..."

And the words disappeared. Mother. Fricking. WHAT COULD HE POSSIBLY SAY?! He'd hurt her! He'd hurt her so much! He'd stomped on her feelings like she stomped on the butts of any earth bender who opposed her! She should hate him! He deserved it! GAH!
Toph Beifong     An undignified snort leaves Toph where she leans back on the couch, smacking her lips a bit as her head rolls to the side. With her feet up on the couch it's an easy task for somebody to walk around Toph without waking her up, especially in a place where she's not on constant guard, and with the movie running in the background. Strange, it doesn't look like a really good movie... only with a strange man running around an island filled with sinister women. And the man seems to be overacting. A lot.

The moment Sokka grabs Toph by the shoulders however, her eyes snap open, and she's awake within seconds, her eyes only growing wider.

Her hand jerks up, and suddenly the floor underneath Sokka tilts, threatening to send him tumbling back into the window behind him unless he's quick to react. And if he isn't? Well, these windows are enforced to withstand the Hulk, so at least there's no danger of him cracking them.

Turning around slightly, Toph clutches her blanket close, face pale where she sits, even as she moves one foot down to the floor. "What the crud do you think you're doing, sneaking up on me like that?!" she snaps, looking awfully flustered and nervous.
Sokka Sokka hit the window, hard. He was totally off his game. He slammed into it and groaned. "Ow. Was... hoping to avoid that, heh," he said with a chuckle. "You know ,that's dangerous. What if you need to jump out a window? you'd be stuff," he said before slowly getting to his feet.

He walked forward again, moving in front of her. "Toph. I..."

SPEAK! "Things can't go back to the way they were. Not... after that." And he reached out to grab her shoulders. "But... you're... you're my best friend in the whole world and... and I..."

What? I love you, but I don't love you in that way? But I DO love you in that way? "You're so far above me it's not even funny. I... I can't begin to imagine what made you think that. What makes you feel that. And... and I..." Why was it so hard. He tried to speak, but the words didn't come out. Nothing came out. "I..." he rasped. He was going to lose her. He was going to hurt her.

Well FUCK that! He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers, closing his eyes and using his mouth to do what his words can't say, pinning her lips between his and holding them together for dear life.
Toph Beifong     "Then don't sneak up on a sleeping bender, dunderhead!" Toph grumbles with clear annoyance, not answering the second question. When Sokka moves forward, the blind teenager tenses where she sits, gripping her blanket tighter. And she swallows, looking like she wants to be anywhere but here when Sokka states that things won't be same as it was before the clock struck twelve on New Year's Eve. And then he grabs her by the shoulders, making her tense up even further before she reaches up to push his hands off of her. "D-don't!" she protests, turning her face away, even as he babbles about her being his best friend. Are they though? It doesn't feel like that, not when he shut down after her confession. Right now he can't even talk properly to her, and it's all her fault...

Sure, she's a bender, he's a non-bender, is that why he doesn't think she can possibly feel that way about him? There's a pained look on Toph's face, and she shakes her head slightly, her lips drawing thin as she speaks up when he finds himself struggling to find words. "Look, I get it, so just stop it and m--"

It's rather hard to speak when she's suddenly aware of Sokka leaning in and something presses against her lips, causing her eyes to widen in shock, her cheeks no longer pale. After a few seconds she regains her wits however, and she pulls back, her left hand moving up to her mouth that's still partially open. Okay, she no longer looks annoyed. Instead she looks merely nervous... and flustered. "S... Sokka?"
Sokka Sokka smiled down at her, giving a cheeky grin. "I've more or less made it my life's work to fight people who out classed me at every turn." He moved so one knee was on the edge of the couch, leaning in close over her, trapping her. "In every possible way." He softly stroked her cheek.

"So maybe it's time I start applying that mentality to my dating. I can't imagine why you decided someone like me was worth falling for. But..." He moved in a little closer, lips centimeters from hers, his breath... oh my gosh he even BRUSHED HIS TEETH! There was no scent of meat! "If you still... feel like giving me a chance, I'll spend every day of the rest of my life doing everything I can to be the boy friend worthy of you. Because you're worth every ounce of effort, Toph."
Toph Beifong     Okay, this she did not see coming. Literally.

True, Sokka does tend to surround himself with powerful benders. His younger sister, the Avatar himself, the new Fire Lord... and herself. He... he's actually getting onto the couch! The blind earthbender swallows, looking tense as she shifts slightly. The fingers stroking her cheek does bring the blush out more, and she turns her face slightly to the side, but not completely away from Sokka. His breath smells so fresh, and it's so close. And it seems like he doesn't have much problems talking right now for some reason, while she finds words difficult at the moment. Then again, she's busy listening to him speak now, so maybe she doesn't need to say anything just yet.

    Is he seriously...?!

The blind girl swallows where she sits, raising her hand slightly. This time without bending anything. Instead she moves it to rest it on Sokka's arm. Her voice is a bit raspy when she speaks up. "So... you're not mad at me...?" she asks hesitantly, blinking her eyes a few times as she lets out a sniffle.
Sokka Sokka shakes his head. "Mad? At you? If anything I'm mad at myself. Apparently I was the only one who didn't notice. I mean, how could I be so thick headed?" he said, leaning in a little closer. "I have so many years to make up for. So many kisses i could have given you. So many hugs i could have wrapped around you. So many words I could have spoken to you."

He paused for a moment. "But... there's one thing. I... I can't guarantee this will... work out in the end. I'll try but... i doubt i live up to what you're hoping. And... if I don't. No matter what happens, let's always be friends. Okay?" He softly stroked her cheek. "Because there's no one in the world more important to me than you. And... I plan to show you that. Every day from now on."
Toph Beifong     It did seem like everybody but him did notice that she had feelings for him. Thick headed is an understatement! Toph snickers slightly where she sits, lowering her head as Sokka leans in a little closer. "Your brains must be made of gravel or something..." Just what made him change his mind though? And what nonsense is he babbling about? "What? You've hugged me a lot, and it's not like we haven't been talking, Snoozles!" she snorts. "Well, except the past days, I guess... but you know what I mean!"

Of course he babbles some more now... seriously, did one kiss mess up his ability to talk and then another fixed it again? Wouldn't that be typical? And there he goes, talking about doubts, living up to expectations. So Toph reaches up to rub her knuckles /hard/ against the side of his head. "You numb nut, what are you talking about, live up to what I'm hoping for? You're not a stranger, you..." Pause. "You're my best friend, aren't you? Shouldn't that matter? I-if you like your best friend in that way, I mean... doesn't that just make it better instead of falling for some superficial dunderhead you don't even know all that well?" Perhaps Lloyd was right in his assumption after all.

The suggestion Sokka comes with does earn a nod, and Toph smiles weakly. "... yeah. You're one of my oldest friends, and... it's never boring being around you." He always listens, he doesn't underestimate her, he makes her laugh... stuff that matters! "So... we're boyfriend and girlfriend then?" she asks, the blush returning a bit to her cheeks where she sits, her hand still resting on his arm.
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Yeah. I guess I have. I..." He then blinked a few times. and then sat down. Wow, that was a bit heavy. "Huh. I... I guess we're dating. You and I. That's... pretty amazing. I mean, I figured I might date someone awesome one day, but... well, I guess I have but... I mean... wow." He had to just sit there for a moment, glancing over and his cheeks bright red.

"And yeah. I'm your best friend. This is going to be awesome." His fingers slowly wrapped around hers, intertwining them. "So... ummm... wanna watch another movie?" he asked. "Could watch more disney ones. And--" Pause. "Wait, is this why you got so mad at me yelling at the little mermaid? I stand by what I said. She should have just kissed the big dope."
Toph Beifong     So it's decided.

Right now Sokka isn't the only one who thinks it's amazing, not judging by the blush and soft smile crossing Toph's lips where she sits. At least Sokka doesn't have to worry about Toph seeing how bright red his face is. Instead she's able to hear the way his heartbeat and breathing has increased slightly from the embarrassment. Her own fingers intertwine with his, albeit a bit slowly. At the question of watching another movie she nods her head a bit, only to let out an amused snort when Sokka begins to babble again. Rather than saying anything though, Toph yanks on Sokka's hand, pulling him closer so she can lean in and press a kiss to his lips, this time not quite so hesitant and rushed as the one on New Year's Eve.
Sokka Sokka was distracted, watching the television. And then was... pulled in closer. "Huh? Yeah, To--" And then kiss. For a moment he froze. Then... slowly... his other hand moved up, gently going around her back to pull her a little closer. His eyes closing and he held her body against his, his heart pounding in his chest.

If her lips had parted again, she'd soon feel his tongue gently sliding out, stroking softly against her lips before sliding through the parted gateway, stroking once across her teeth.
Tony Stark Tony wanders down the stairs and through living room with a couple of bottles in his hand to be washed. He looks like he's gotten about four hours of sleep in the last couple of days, and it takes him a moment, as he hesitates mid-stride, to blearily sort out what's going on on his couch.

Then, he announces, "Oogie," and proceeds methodically into the kitchen.
Toph Beifong     Sokka will have to watch Nicholas Cage in bearsuits punching women another time, it seems.

Toph doesn't seem opposed to being pulled closer, letting out a soft sound as she tilts her head a bit more into the kiss. Okay, this is not as awkward as it was, though Sokka clearly knows how to do this better than she does. Slowly she raises her arms, moving to wrap them around Sokka's shoulders even as her own heart tries to keep up with Sokka's.

Of course the moment that one word is heard the mood is completely changed, as Toph pulls herself away from Sokka, eyes wide and cheeks flaring red. "DAD!" The word is slightly whiny, desperate, and she looks like she's tempted to throw something after Tony as she hears him walk towards the kitchen. Instead she lets out a groan and buries her forehead against Sokka's shoulder. "Ugh, I can't believe he saw that...!" And never did she imagine that Tony would use that approach against /her/, even after all the times she's complained about Tony and Pepper being affectionate in front of her.
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times and then, suddenly, Toph on his shoulder. He gave a little squeak and instinctively he hugged her. Friendshi-- wait, no. Girl friend hugs. Oh, okay. This was a little... more difficult.

Normally he'd just hold her when she's upset. It was so easy before. Now a million things went through his mind. Was he doing this okay? was she okay? What if he screwed this up? Oh gosh what if he ruined everything?

Instead, he rested his head on hers and grinned. "Oh, he's just jealous." Pause. "He's heard the stories of my amazing kissing talents and wanted first go," he jokes, hoping to crack the ice with a bad joke.
Toph Beifong     Considering the fact that Toph isn't pulling away from him, it does appear that Sokka is doing something right. Her face is warm against his shoulder... and when he rests his head against hers and makes that joke... she lets out a snort.

"No offense, but I think he's a bit hung up on Pepper considering he was acting like a moron and tried to figure out how to propose." Except she was just a big idiot when trying to figure out how to confess to Sokka. "So, uh..." she begins, "You might get pulled aside by Amalthea sometime soon." Warning him might be better. Though maybe she should talk with her later and try to stop that. Like hell if they need to involve lots of people in this! It's bad enough that she spoke with Tony /and/ Amalthea about this whole mess!
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times and chuckled. "Yeah. and, err, Stadler might wanna talk to you. I uhhhh... kinda talked to him about it." Pause. "and Lloyd." Pause again. "And your dad. And the barista. And the... well, lots of people called me an idiot. And I had to agree."

Yeah, a real shame to involve a bunch of people in this. "... You know, I don't think I've had more than a sandwich in the last few days. Wanna go out somewhere, get some food?" ... Wait. Was he asking her on a DATE?!
Toph Beifong     At that Toph's expression falls, and she sits upright, although not pulling away completely from Sokka. "Wait, you... you talked with STADLER about this?!" she half yelps. Only to sit there and 'stare' in shock as Sokka keeps on naming all the people he talked with about what should have been between just the two of them. No, he... he didn't! "W-why... why did you talk with /him/ about it?" she demands, pointing towards the kitchen where Tony went. Or Lloyd. "Is what why Lloyd has been trying to talk with me on the radio?!" she demands, looking horrified. Oh man... And just then she reaches up a hand to the radio piece in her ear, clearing her voice.

Okay, clearing up this mess isn't going to be fun, but at least the main mess is dealt with! And that's what made her feel the worst, actually. It's not only Sokka who's eaten poorly the last few days, so Toph blinks when he suggests going out to grab something to eat. Well, it certainly beats going into the kitchen where Tony is right now. "Sure, just lemmie change my shirt or something, the squid gulped up on me earlier and I don't think I managed to wash all of it out."

It's not like they haven't gone out and grabbed food before, so at the moment Toph doesn't think too much of it. "I'll be back in a minute!" she says before she heads towards her room. All while fiddling with the radio on the way. Goddamn Lloyd...!
Sokka Sokka blushed. "Stadler kind of... interrogated me. I asked him to transfer me so... I wouldn't distract you while in training. He... said no. And then he weaseled the reason out of me. Sorry... And the others, well, errr... I mean, lloyd is like, a teacher of mine..."

He then blinked. "Oh. wow. i hadn't even noticed. Heh, I guess you just make anything look good." ... And he was being freaking honest. He laid back and relaxed, closing his eyes. Oh my gosh what had he done it was both awesome and so, so scary.
Toph Beifong     Things suddenly make a lot more sense, knowing that Stadler spoke with Sokka. So as Toph heads into her room, yelling back all the way, she does sound a bit irritated. "I /knew/ he was acting funny when I talked with him on the radio!" she snorts. "And Lloyd is a cruddin' wise ass, he threatened to blabber to you!" Except not, as he was just teasing, but still...!

It doesn't take long for Toph to return, having changed to a comfy sleeveless tunica instead. "So ummm... what kinda food should we get? Burgers? Pizza? Mexican?" Huh, it's kinda funny actually feeling /hungry/ again.
Sokka Sokka blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "Eh.... heh heh. Err, he did? Lloyd was going to tell me? Oh, wow. I guess that's what he meant by all of those... wait, was he hinting at me towards you? How did I miss it?" He would be saying that a LOT!

"Hmmmmm. You know what? I could really go for something... fishy right now. Let's getsomething with fish in it, okay? You know any good fish joints?" Truly it was time to teach sokka about sushi. "Something deep fried, too." Oh yes, sushi.

When he stepped besides her, however, he nervously reached down and took her hand. She could probably feel his heart beat through it. The way it pounded in his chest. Shaking. And... "You look... beautiful, Toph. Breathtaking."
Toph Beifong     At that comment Toph snorts and rolls her eyes a bit. "The way you missed everything else, Meat Head." And huh, he wants fish? "Well, you got all the snooty sushi bars, but you also have this place who has fish burgers, fish and chips..." she begins, listing up on one hand. And as he reaches out towards her hand, Toph is already moving said hand towards his. Not without a slight flush to her cheeks, though at least she manages to act casual about it. They've held hands before! And... then he of course has to say silly comments like that. "And I guess you look like you always do." Kinda hard to tell! "So ummm..." Taking a slight breath, Toph moves her free hand to her satchel, resting it on it. "Seems everybody kinda knew. And they might figure it out quickly. Not that I feel like telling them."
Sokka Sokka shrugged and then sighed. "Yeah. I guess I was a bit of a meat head, huh. How could I miss the most awesome bender in the world having a crush on me. I'm surprised you never dropped a rock on me for it." Then blinked. "Wait. If you HADN'T had a crush on me, would those flaming rocks HAVE hit me?"

Probably. He then nodded. "You choose, you know the area. And yeah, they'll figure it out." He really considered telling her about the... thing stadler told him. About the laws and stuff... but... no. He wasn't going to worry her about it. It'd just be his problem to worry about.
Toph Beifong     Oh man. Toph lets out a sigh. "I got you out of the ground without squishing you back when I began training Aang, remember? I could have easily let him try, and I... didn't feel that way about you back then." As for the flaming rocks? "Melon Lord does not show mercy, you know that."

Okay, so it's up to her. "Fish and chips then, and we can bring some food back home for mom and dad too. Or just mom." Tony can get his own food if he's going to be complaining about her being oogie for once! "It's not too far away," she informs him as she leads him out of the house and down the road, holding firmly onto his hand.
Sokka Sokka snickered and then leaned in, ruffling her hair. "Oh? So Toph loves me, but to Melon Lord I'm just another any waiting to be squashed, huh? Alas, however will I survive if I encounter such a fierce warrior a second time?"

He gave her hand a little pump. "Sure. So fish and like, the lays, right? Or is it doritos? Seems like a weird mix of foods, but hey. This whole world is weird. They don't even have kangaroo bulls." He shook his head. "So weird."
Toph Beifong     It seems that Toph only lets out a slight sigh when Sokka ruffles her hair. "Melon Lord will show up whenever she is needed, and you know it. Do not incur her wrath." It's nice when he's actually acting like himself again... even if they're holding hands in a different context now. But they're still acting like they used to, which is what Toph missed the most these last days.

Sokka /still/ doesn't know about all the awesome foods they have in this world. "Fish and chips, with means battered and fried fish, served with fried potato slices, topped with sauce. Messy but tasty. Remind me to ask dad to bring us poutine sometime when he's flying near Canada." That's one major good thing about having Iron Man as your dad, having somebody who can get takeaway from all over and still bring it back home in a short amount of time.

It's good thing to have somebody else who can agree on the strangeness of other worlds too. "I know! Back when I joined people were all so cruddin' confused," Toph exclaims as they walk. Fortunately Malibu isn't too long away, especially since both Sokka and Toph are used to walking. For now Toph leads Sokka along down some streets, coming to a small diner that is quasi filled up. "Knowing you, I assume you want the biggest portion size they have," Toph concludes.
Sokka Sokka smiled down at her. He missed this too. all of this. Having her near, being able to laugh and chat with her. It felt awful the last few days thinking he wouldn't have his best friend. That he'd come so close to losing her.

He blinked a few times and had to wipe his mouth. "O-oh. Oh my gosh that sounds a-amazing," he mumbled, licking his lips. "Why have I not had it yet? How many other great foods are you hiding from me, Toph?" he asked with a grin.

"Confused? Can't blame them. It's like every animal here is half of one. Of course. We're dating now, aren't we? We can get one to share." ... and he was using his flirty tone. On Toph. She might remember it from when he dated suki. "Nothing with two heads. Last time I did that, I was sick for days."
Toph Beifong     "Don't ask me why you haven't had it yet, I'm not your mom," Toph jokes and sticks her tongue out at Sokka. "And we'll just have to make a point of trying new foods around the multiverse now and then. I'm certainly not hiding any of the food." He's the one who's the glutton, not her! Though she does appreciate tasty food too.

So they're splitting a large portion, huh? Toph actually blushes a bit at that, though she manages to keep her composure, not looking bothered by it. "Sounds good." Oh yes, she does recognise that flirty tone in his voice. "And huh? When did you eat something with two heads anyway?" That... sounds a bit icky.
Sokka Sokka shuddered. "Oh dear. Toph as a mom. Now that'd be scary. Oh? so should that be our big goal as a couple, travel the universe, experiencing the finest of cuisines? You'd best be careful, I'm not sure you'll be able to keep up with my iron stomach."

"Remember that lake, when Katara pretended to be the maiden of the mists or whatever? I got that two headed fish. It WAS a better deal. I did get more for my money! But seriously, that stuff was nasty."
Toph Beifong     "Eh, if you wanna travel and eat good food, I'll come along. I already know I can't eat as much as you do, I don't intend to end up with a burst stomach," Toph states as she heads up to the counter, pulling out her card with her free hand as she orders the largest portion of fish and chips that they have; the family size. Which means that it might just be enough for Sokka and herself.

There are some things you remember more fondly when travelling around the world with friends. Two headed fish in a muddy river village? Ewww. "Yeah, if you want to travel to places like THAT and eat, then you're travelling on your own while I order tasty takeout!" Toph huffs as she drags Sokka with her to a free table.
Sokka Sokka chuckled and let her drag him along. And then they were sitting together and he almost pulled his free hand. Then, with a blush, remembered they weren't just friends. This was a date. She'd feel his heart getting faster, his hands grow a bit clammy.

"Well, ummmm, I think I'll stick to nicer areas this time around. I don't want to get sick again. It was almost enough to turn me to Aang's weird 'don't eat meat' life style. Worst ten minutes ever." What? He'd suffered, but at least not for long.

"So... errrr..." He reached out and gently brushed her hair back. "Toph... I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm so, so sorry. I... panicked."
Toph Beifong     At that Toph agrees with a nod. "Yeah, it's not like we're struggling for cash, getting paid by the Paladins and all." Not to mention Toph getting a hefty allowance from a superhero billionaire. "And if it's a comfort, I doubt you would be able to stay on Aang's boring diet for long." At least he wasn't upset with them eating meat, so all was well with her.

The fact that Sokka reaches over and begins messing with her hair, that makes Toph blink where she sits. And she sighs a bit herself. "I'm sorry too... but it's over. The next time you panic I'll knock some sense into that thick skull of yours. And you can ruffle some sense back into me, I guess..." the blind earthbender shrugs. "It will be easier getting back to training again now. I... actually tried to switch rooms on the Ad Coelum," she admits. To not have a room across the hall from his.
Sokka Sokka nodded, giving a little chuckle. "Yeah. He used to give us a little grief about it sometimes. but I think that was more because we were doing it at some secret air bender place than anything else. I don't know how he did it. People are NOT made to eat meat. It's just not right."

"Knocking me out, huh? Shouldn't we date a while before you start threatening me with the kinky stuff?" Oh come on the joke just slipped out, he couldn't help it! And then blinked and turned so red. "O-oh, I mean, err, what? Move? But then how would we sneak over at night and study and hang out and make fun of our teachers?"
Toph Beifong     "Yeah, at some spiritual temple to whatever..." Toph snickers. At least Aang has grown a lot as the Avatar, so there's no trouble with him not understanding others.

It's a bit hard to understand Sokka at times though, and when he delivers that joke... Toph actually blushes where she sits. Though she does squeeze his hand a bit instead of commenting on it instead talking about the next comment instead since that's easier."Well, I thought you didn't want to be around me, but Amalthea would have denied that request anyway. So now I guess we can sorta sneak back and forth to hang out. I dunno about making fun about the teachers though, who knows who might overhear?" Not that people usually have the same type of freaky hearing that Toph does!
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times, then snickered. "Really? when has that EVER stopped you from taunting someone? I figured them hearing just made it better for you," he said with a hearty laugh, before leaning in and giving her a little kiss on the forehead. "I'm happy she denied it. Hanging out with you is the best part about being in the paladins. And hey, now we can, ummm, even gross people out with oogie," he said with a little blush.

Their food arrived and he quickly buried himself in it, trying to keep his heart steady as he let her hand go.
Toph Beifong     "Well, true..." Toph shrugs, then holds still as Sokka leans in to kiss her forehead, which makes her squirm just a bit in her chair. "I... I'm kinda happy she denied it too now," she admits. Indeed, spending time with Sokka is never boring. The talk about grossing people out with oogies though, that makes Toph blush. "What? Are you planning on getting back at people for all the time you had to see /them/ being oogie now?" she asks. "It... wasn't bad at all though." Not until Tony interrupted them! But hey, what's the rush? Besides, they can't talk if they're kissing. Or eat. Toph lets Sokka let go of her hand as the foot arrives, and she picks up the pieces of fish and chips, dipping them in the sauce before she begins eating.
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Of course. The moment I see my sister again, I'll start making out with you and..." And then blinked. "And oh wow that just killed the mood. Thinking about my sister during kissy time is not a good idea. Ew. Just ew."

He glanced down and smiled. "Of course not. You're a pretty good kisser for a rookie. But don't don't worry, I'll train you well in the art of proper kissing. But you'll have to call me sifu," he said with a chuckle, before taking a fry. "Why aren't all foods deep fried? I mean, it would make the world a better place."
Toph Beifong     What... the... crud? Toph arches an eyebrow at that. "Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that, because having family members nearby sorta ruins the mood for /me/." That's something she can attest to even with her very short experience with kissing.

And now Sokka wants her to call him Sifu? An amused snort leaves Toph. "So kissing is style of fighting now, huh..." The praise does draw out a faint blush, and she distracts herself with munching on a fry. "And I dunno, they're probably worried about people not being healthy and crud... lots of people are health nuts and on the Aang diet here in Malibu."
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Yeah. I really, really didn't think that one through. ugh, how did Aang and Katara do that for so long? It--" And then shuddered. "And now I can't get it out of my head. Ew. Ew ew. Ew. Fish. Fishie friends. Distract me with your tasty fishness." Nomf.

He glanced over. "Wait, so people do it who AREN'T air benders? Man, sometimes this world sucks," he said with a light chuckle. "And yeah, kissing can be used to fight. Maybe next time we spar together I'll kiss you into submission."
Toph Beifong     An amused titter leaves Toph where she sits, dipping some fish a few times. Man, silly Sokka is the best Sokka.

"Yeah, there are people who are kinda hip on eating only plants, no animal products, though most of them are like Aang and not whining at people who do eat meat. There are some nut jobs out there though, just ignore them."

The threat of kissing during their next sparring though, that makes Toph huff just slightly. "That would be cheating, and you know it." So there. But still, she does blush a bit and doesn't look like she's protesting much as she resumes eating. Man, she was hungrier than she thought.
Sokka Sokka just stared with a distant look of horror on his face. "... I can hardly believe it. What a travesty to live in a world, without meat. I don't think I could handle it," he said with a chuckle. He then humeed. "You know... I think I could eat a second one of these." He was a heavy eater during the best of times. at a time where he hadn't eaten in days? Well, of course he was going to go a bit wild.

He then glanced back to her and grinned. "Hey, after this, wanna head back, watch some more movies? What was with that weird one? Why all the trucks coming out of nowhere?"
Toph Beifong     "We'll order some more then... and then bring some home for mom and dad, it sounded like he was dead tired, must be because of the little squid." Here she thought babies were going to sleep most of the time!

Heading back to watch some movies doesn't sound too bad, so Toph nods. "We should maybe watch Robbie though, so... watch it on low sound and sit in the nursery. And hey, you haven't even seen my baby brother yet, you dunderhead!" Toph notes, punching Sokka slightly in the arm. "We can do that /and/ watch that weird truck movie, it's awesome."
