Kotone Yamakawa Transhuman space.
Earth Orbit.

Apollo Aerospace INC HQ Hab.

So once again to transhuman space, we go thankfully CEO Debra Doyle had invited them to the Hab her company owns and operates as it's HQ to speak to them again. It's about the last job and likely she wishes to thank the personnel of DI about what they did for her not only rescuing her sister, but saving a good deal of the population of Hermes.

The crew of the Daedalus Initiative is treated to a pretty posh lounge, there's food, and some of it is multiveral, the CEO has done some homework and Kotone was there a bit. The two have been chatting as they wait for the rest.

"My sister is adjusting fairly well all things considered she'd like to thank you all later but she's still getting used to things."

For those who met her before Debra's body has changed entirely and she looks like she's in her twenties now. Kotone does seem to notice.

So why the new body?

"Deidra's gone through enough she doesn't need her twin sister not looking like her, right and it's about time I chose to wear my real face again anyway."

All the guests would only be asked to leave their weapons on their ships if it was possible simply for security reasons.
Alexis Maaka     SPACE

Alexis has donned a smart-clothing bodysuit and boots in lieu of her usual clothes. Weapons are an easy thing for her to surrender, even if she has to think about it for a good moment before surrendering her matter manipulator, knife, pistols, and PDW. She'll also unload her spikejack and the sonic shotgun in her arms as well, for good measure.

"You're looking...different, Debra." She muses aloud, as she sees the CEO. One guesses she has no reason to be surprised, as the people in this world can change bodies like some people change their hair. Her reasoning makes sense too, even if it does draw a quirked brow from Maaka. "So why the look from the other day?"
Corona Arclite Leave weapons behind? Yeah, that's understandable. Or at least leave the visible, obviously weapons behind. Corona still has her toolbelt and her gloves. Technically not weapons, but in a pinch... Well at least she looks unarmed, and essentially is.

After the last few months and what's gone on though, she's just not taking any chances.

Though almost immeadiately the fox gravitates towards the spread of snacks and other goodies. "Someone took time t' prepare quite a spread it seems!"
Rory White "Greetings once more!" Rory White sort of hop-floats into the chamber, the low gravity causing her huge flow of blue hair to fan out and wave weirdly... it takes quite a bit to settle down. She's sleeved into her social-focused Synthmorph, meaning soft features, blue hair, alert eyes and a flowing white... 'robecoat' that's fancilly textured and decorated with unnecessary pockets, draping sleeves... it's quite an odd outfit.

"The operation went well. Much better than I expected. Seeing someone can reunite with family makes it very worth it. My own have been missing.... since the Fall...."R
Rory's emotions are harder to detect by tone, but hesitation and sadness do tinge her voice there. And a frown's added briefly. Expressing herself isn't easy, as always, but she does try. Perhaps a bit too hard sometimes.

She answers Maaka, "Do you wear the same clothes to every occasion?"
Staren     Staren arrives via teleporting to another member's ship. 'No weapons' seems like such a strange request to him... still, he leaves his bag behind on an ally's ship, as well as his laser pistol and beam saber. He almost forgets to leave the henshin belt that turns into his emergency armor. But he keeps his Matter Manipulator. If they're going to count everything he can possibly improvise as a weapon, he wouldn't be able to attend at all because even if he came naked he could probably think of a number of ways to kill people with ordinary objects on the ship, and teleconferencing might risk a computer virus.

He arrives wearing a light smart vacsuit as well as his normal clothes, which shifts out of the way when not needed, although the torc with the oxygen canister is clearly visible if one thinks to look for it.

OH HEY FOOD Staren gets a plate, and then finds himself wondering if it's poisoned, before remembering that it doesn't matter, thanks to medichines. Ugh, that request for no weapons is going to have him looking /everywhere/ with extra suspicion, isn't it? At least he seems to have no confusion about Debra's appearance. Her AR tags identify her and the reasoning is sound.

After he's collected a plate and some food, he asks, "So... What did you call us here for?" Trying to sound merely interested and not at all suspicious that they were asked to come here extra-defenseless. He can't help it!
Kotone Yamakawa Debra smirks a bit "You want the truth? Because every day looking at my actual face made me think of my sister and what I'd lost. It's easier to forget wha you have lost when you don't have their face staring t you in the mirror every morning."

She looks to Corona "Yes it's the least I could do, given all that you hve done. I'm shocked EXHUMANs were working so close to luna then again with the poltical upheaval. Some how It's fitting the last of America's spooks would be able to make the Alliance choke a bit on the wages of their sins."

She looked to Corona and then To Alexis.

"Interesting choice of fashion, your little group do often keep me from being bored. My company's clean up crews also fond something tht might be of intrest to you. You did ... save the vast majority of the hab's population. Though thier insurance companies are crying over it."

She seems to have no sympathy for said companies really.

"Aside from the promised mapping data? We found ... stacks in storage on the EXHuman ship when we cleaned up they been checked rigiously and are clean, however we are at a bit of a ... fix of wht to do with them all."
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite wanders back to the group after getting some snacks. Nothing says job well done like a providing hostess.

She's not bobbing around like some people present, but that's because she wore her 'space' boots with the microgravity soles.

"Mighty kind of ya all the same." She plops a munchie in her mouth, then tilts her head with curiosity. Gulps loudly to chew and swallow before speaking up. "Stacks?"
Alexis Maaka     The cyborg frowns sympathetically, "Oof." That's all Maaka has to say about that. Deb does have a point, the whole mission was to get her sister back after all. "How's she been, anyways? I know it's been some time since we found her. Did we pull any intel off those stacks I extracted?" She asks, not too concerned with the fact that she 'extracted' those cores by cutting them out of people's heads.

She folds her arms, shrugging at Rory. "Got me there. The only times I've swapped bodies was for upgrading. I used to look more like a teenager back in the day, before I got this body...both times weren't exactly comfortable." Her mind reflects briefly, on what had to be excruciating and traumatic both times she'd been body swapped, and Maaka shudders briefly.

She nabs something to snack on and take her mind off the memories, thankful she remembered to bring micro-gravity boots as well. Floating around wasn't ever her style, if she could avoid it anyways.
Staren     Staren looks puzzled. "Why would exhumans care about your politics or laws?" And then she gets to the problem. He scratches his head. "Ah. I suppose most of them aren't comfortable living as infolife. Well. If they're willing to live out in the multiverse, we certainly know organizations that can find places for them, and synths are easy enough to provide." He blinks. "Wait, do you mean prisoners, or the exhumans themselves? Shit, can we tell? I guess we have to debrief them in simulspace. If they're Exhumans, what do you normally do with criminals here? Prisoners... maybe some of them have families and homes that will want them back."

Staren looks at Corona, surprised she wasn't briefed on this. "People. Minds. Souls, without bodies."
Corona Arclite "Ooh yeah. Fergot that's what y'all call the brains on a circuit things." Corona shrugs and flicks another munchie in her mouth, completely unbothered by having a minor brain derp over the local terminology. She's had a lot of other certain things on her mind lately.
Rory White "Insurance companies..." Rory echoes, voice trailing off. She probably doesn't like them!

She turns and nods once at Corona. "Cortical Stacks. The devices Alexis removed from most of the bodies strewn around. They are contingency plan devices that record your mind. It essentially means you can be brought back from death... assuming all goes well. Anyone with sense maintains backups elsewhere but that involves business arrangements, and nobody wants to lose days, weeks, or months of their life to a lost stack."

The AGI goes on to note to nobody in particular, "Transhuman culture must be difficult to fathom. More primers will be needed."

Now she finds a seat and peers Debra's way.

"By stacks found in the Exhuman ship, you mean we have no idea who they belong to?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone also has some food for a moment and she pauses eating.

"The implants that the transhumans of this woreld use to back up their minds. Long story short it's like saving my brain case if my body's otherwise lost."

DEbra nods for a moment to Maaka

"Finding out about Earth was the worst part of it for her, the multiverse not so much. She's always been a bit more nerdy than I am.

"Yes they have been restored and have told us they were waiting to make the exchange when there was a ship claiming engine trouble and was helped aboard. That's when the EXHumans attacked.

"I try to keep my own body swapping down, it's something that's a bit hard for me to deal with but it's more plug and play for me."

Kotone admits to Maaka. "She's talking about the mercnaries who were the ones that found Deidra in the first place."

"Some them no longer have insurance and my company does not make use of infogees I as hoping you might have some thoughts with your multiveral connections and there were no exhuman stacks recovered. They didn't surive the fire fights so far as I can tell."
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite huhs. "So that brings up the question of what -they- were doin' there in the first place. What reason would they have fer stagin' somethin' like that to sneak onto the ship an' start raisin' a hoot-in-holla
Alexis Maaka     Maaka nods. "I can figure that one out for myself." She remembers the special ops guys requesting no mention of them being made, which is just fine by her. She's had to go anonymous once or twice before, too.

"No, they didn't. We were already busy extracting the package at the time, not to mention the extra stacks." She says, shrugging.
Staren     "Technically, cortical stacks aren't brains... It's like the difference between having an important file on a disk, and having it on a computer so you can actually /do/ stuff with it." Staren clarifies.

He looks to Debra, nodding. "Yeah, becoming a robot is often pretty disorienting. Well... so they're /mercenaries/, huh?" He smiles, "Well, if any of them want to retire, there are like, refugee placement services with the Union of course, but there are ample job opportunities for mercenaries around Lazlo. We might need to give them an upgraded power supply for long missions though. Perhaps fuel cells, or magic..."
Rory White "So long as they aren't Exhuman, I'll have them filtered through at Mitre Station. They can go where they wish from there!" Rory exclaims rather simply and solidly. She is quite a proponent of freedom of choice in matters like this.
Staren     Staren nods. "I'm not presuming to make the choice for them, merely stating that it's an option."
Kotone Yamakawa Debra smirks a bit "Well the mercs had working insurance the stacks we found in storage we think were intended as test subjects or play things for the EXHUMANs. After all there's small unmarked habs which could go missing and sadly? No one would notice this happening."

Kotone pipes up "My own country has been prone to taking in multiveral refugees I'm pretty sure the people's skills would be ... in demand there. My world is caught in some pretty serious tech races and people with insight who might get certain pitfalls could be in demand."

"As for the mercs I shall pass on the information on Lazlo to them."

Maaka gets a bit of a look from Koront but she seems to get what Maaka is saying and now she can't unsee Maaka getting the stacks pulled out of the dead mercs.

Debra smiles a bit "Thank you this should help a good deal. Now It's time to speak of the payment I promised you."
Staren     Staren ahhs. "Well, I guess we'll have to interview the prisoners, and ask them what they want to do."

    OH RIGHT PAYMENT.

Staren forgot about that. He has Dawn pull up whatever the original agreement was, for reference.
Alexis Maaka     Maaka mentally tries to divvy up the payments the team was owed for the mission in the first place, literally as her HUD brings up a calculation system and the amount she'd recorded being promised anyways.
Corona Arclite "So Ah guess there's a few loose ends to tie up yet." Corona munches down the end of her snacks, just in time for the best part of the meeting. Hopefully the best part. You never know what some people's ideas of 'reward' might be. But considering this was a big family matter, certainly its got to be something of interest at least.
Kotone Yamakawa Debra grins for a moment "Yes the map date from my company's gate crashing and wrap gate exploration." She'll get up to pass Rory a datapad. "A hard copy I think would be the most secure way. There is the matter of credits which will also be handled given the ... unexpected threat of the Exhumans. I am thankful that it was that and not something else which would have required the colony to be purged entirely."

The Credits are not bad either there's the matter of the stacks but that's something that can be worked out and finally Kotone speaks up.

"Looks good on my end I can't complain about this will you have any other jobs in the future for us."

"Yes given the state of things I have been considering looking into moving my company off world so to speak. Due to the unstablity caused by the last gasp of America some are calling it. The Jovians and Luna are still reeling from that poltical bomb."
Staren     Staren nods. He doesn't have a lot more to say, so he eats delicious food instead.
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite ahas. Pinches the brim of her hat between two fingers to give a brief courtesy nod to Debra. "Welp, iffen ya need us, ya know how to find us."
Rory White Rory takes the datapad and bows her head, happy for a job to be well done! "...With Exhumans at work, there's always the small possibility they will be meddling with things they shouldn't..." She notes solemnly.

Thank heavens that wasn't the case indeed.
Kotone Yamakawa Debra smiles now as she gets up and speaks "Come I hope you might stay the evening and enjoy your selves here, Deidra would like to meet you as well." She'll gesture to the party to follow her if they wish and if they do it's as she says an evening out on the town and a chance to meet the woman they went through all this trouble for!
