Golden Topaz Seems that it's another beautiful afternoon here in Beach City! The sun is shining, the tide is peaceful... and it seems something is drawing the attention of the residents! Music with a Caribbean vibe is being playedas it seems a lot of people circle around.. two people, dancing in the middle! Or are they fighting? Or.. are they possibly doing both? One of them is a human,a nd the other, with the yellow skin and orange eyes, is obviously one of the gems.. though this one seems male? That's new.
Star Caster     Beach City may be well known to many of this world; but it is not so normal to the youth who is walking down the street, away from the warp gates, staring with blue eyes wide at everything around him. Considering the Gems, it's unlikely that Star Caster is garnering much adverse attention- though an occasional odd look his way wouldn't be unwarrented. It'd probably be the first time in years (if ever!) that someone's ever seen a Unicorn! .. Or at least, one like Star. His hooves chime as he trodes down the paved street; but his ears perk at the sound of music. He stops! His tail curls up at the tufted in in curiosity, and he starts to scan the beach, one hand to his brow, until he sees- ... Two people perfofming an odd dance! oooo! Locals! "... Must be some sort of ritual! Or a party!" he says, to himself, as he trods carefully off the sidewalk path and towards the two strange beings out on the sand- and because of the sand, finds himself having to hold his hands slightly out at his sides.
Hey, his people live in a forest. Sand just isn't a THING there.
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz is one of the fighters (dancers?), his goggles having been put away so he can see his opponent (partner?) more clearly. He dances side to side, one foot sweeping back behind the other, one arm up before him as he moves, then quickly twists, bringing his back foot up in a wide arch, moving at incredible speeds, while the other man ducks it.. and the several following it, getting faster each time, using the momentum and pivoting on one foot repeatedly to put more speed and power into each kick. He then just goes back through the movements, performing a handless cartwheel as his opponent sticks low to the ground, bringing one foot to try to trip him, then then other, just barely missing as he controls his fall to lan on his back and spring back up. There's laughing and hooting and hollaring from the crowd, and the performers seem to be having a great time!
Star Caster Ah! They're... They're Mummers! Star grins to himself, slightly fangy teeth showing, as he slides up among the humans watching encircle of Golden Topaz and his (sparring?) Partner. The young lad claps as he watches, but his atention is drifting- mostly as his ears swivel in search of the music and it's source. It's ... really good music, really different! And he's love to hear more, maybe learn to play it! Wouldn't that just be splendid in court! ... Of course Mother would frown and sigh, and he'd get another talking to. ('A young knight does not leave his lute on the table!' 'But I was hungry!' 'And hooves *off* my good chairs!')
He hmms, and shifts from hoof to hoof as he watches, like an overeager child. Wait. He IS an overeager child. Well. Teenager. He grins as he carefully moves toward the front of the crowd, eyes half on Golden Topaz, and half in search of the musical sound..
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz laughs as he ends his performance, his shoulder on his opponent's, before they both stand and clasp hands. "Inferno de um irmão do fósforo." He grins wider to the other man, then takes a little bow. The music is still playing from.. an odd metal and plastic box, as everyone cheers and applauds. Those orange eyes look about and thne land on the univorn, blinking a bit and then smiling as he moves to the young man. "Hello there! Did you enjoy the show?"
Star Caster Target sighted! It's... a strange, box. Huh. He squints. "... A really tiny band of musicians," Star murmurs, "Or else some very interesting magic," he muses. He half-claps as the match ends, still staring at the box- but his ears twitch, and his tail frazzles a bit as he's spoken to, obviously jumped slightly. "Huh?! What? Oh. Oh, yes, that was fantastic, sir! Your.. your acrobatics, were amazing, and I don't think I've seen that kind of movement outside of the Wilderkin." He pauses, looking about at all the humans, and then looks again at Golden Topaz with a slight, sheepish grin, "Of, uh, course everyone here seems to be, related to.. the Wilderkin, in some way. Strange, hairless ap- er! I mean." His hand goes back to his slightly shaggy, curling mane of hair. "Heh, uh."
Pause. He points at the box! "What is that thing, it's nothing I've seen before. Although I assume it's High Magic?"
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz blinks, tilting his head. "Wilderkin? That sounds like some sorta fae thing..." He then shakes his head and shrugs, smirking. "I'm glad you liked the show. Capoeira is a hard thing to perform, but it brings so many people together.. while others it tears apart. Not many dances can say they're also martial art combat systems." He grins wide, then looks to the stereo. "The stereo? It's not magic, I can assure you. It's technology." He then looks to the teen again and smirks. 'Though, since I'm talking to a unicorn, I would imagine you aren't one to know much about that sort of thing."
Star Caster Star laughs nervously! And then looks about with a shrug. "Y-Yeah, sort of. Uh. Beastmen who live in trees," he says, with another grin. Before he hooms! Capoeira. That's a word he's going to have to look up, he thinks. "You might say uhm. I'm not use to new machines. I mean, that's what tech is, right?" He says, tail swishing. He then oh! And stands up straight and at attention! Letting his hooves ching together slightly. "S-Sir Star Caster, of Lunaria! The-uh, Right Hand to the Queen. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintence, Warrior!" he says, saluting!
This kid? A soldier? Hooboy.
"I uhm, I found your town by chance, following some new magics that the Dragons have been setting up for us! They said.." he looks eft, then right, and drops to a hush, "They said there's a whole new world outside Lunaria that they found during the last Lunar Alignment! I'm not supposed to be messing with their travel portals buuuut I figure, who better to explore new worlds than a knight!"
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz grins and chuckles. "Sir, there's more than one new world. There's several, and you just walked into the mishmash of several of them at once." He sighs and shrugs. "But, hey, maybe now you'll get a chance to explore. Anyway, I'm Golden Topaz. Yes, as in, the gem. I'm not one from this planet, though. I'm from a different planet altogether, a living gemstone." He smirks, then shapeshifts to match the teen before him to the letter, even the voice. "My body isn't flesh and blood, but light I shape to my whim." He then shifts back, smirking a bit.
Star Caster Star Caster stares. "Several? Like, how many as in several?" He says, ears pricked at attention. Oh, oh dear. But hey! Hey! This is like, good! He's getting information about things! When Golden Topaz shifts though he's *obviously* surprised in that he jerks back on one hoof, his tail spplaying out behind him in a frazzle, his eyes wide, and he himself in torso pulling back, arms up, and face in a 'Gyeh!" sort of expression. (Were he more horse, there would be an accompanying whinny soundtrack effect, man.) He blinks as the Gem shifts back.
"... That's.. that's some real magic there," he says, unsure, as he lands his hoof back to sand, and tries to smooth his tail down by hand. "... Shapeshifting is only something the Ancients could do, in, in my world. But that was a very long time ago," he says, with a nervous grin, tail swishing out of his hands. "Where I come from, Gemstones can also contain m-magic like that." He grins, and gestures to the medallion about his neck, with it's pulsating moonstone. "This, is uh, this is the Medallion of Lunaria, for example. It's, got protection magic in it. Some day, I'll learn how to use that magic, but uhm." He pauses and looks down slightly ashamed, "I'm not allowed to muddle with it until I learn to use my horn properly."
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz chuckles. "Not reallymagic, just innate capabilities through focus. It's interesting to know your world does actually have magic.. here, it's just.. well, we jsut do things." He smiles a bit and nods. "Well, I'd imagine you're not allowed to because you're still quite young. I'm around 7000 years old, and I'M still not allowed to do certain things without asking permission from my superiors."
Star Caster Star Caster grins a little and nods. "Yeah, I'm still kinda young. I mean, I'm, I'm only The Right Hand because my uncle died two years ago, and I was n-next in line." He rubs the back of his head again. Then nods! "But yes! Magic!" he grins, and holds up his hands together, forming a circle with fingers touching. He squints his eyes, and his horn begins to glow faintly. A ball of light starts to form in his palms! .. Then wisps out like a candle flame blown by wind. "... I've been studying hard, honest, but, I had only just got my horn in when my uncle died. But! But I'm very brave! You can tell from my horn. Because it's almost fully grown!"
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz nods a bit. "I can see that! I don't think many would take the risk of entering a new portal and going to someplace new. One where technology reigned instead of magic." He shrugs, leaning against a lamp post. "A familial position, eh.. well, I'm sure you'll fill your uncle's shoes nicely, given time."
Star Caster Star Caster laughs, "Yeah, it's not like I'm the queen or something. That's a role I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!" he says, with a grin, watching the Gem as he leans on a lamppost. He looks up at said lamppost curious! Then hms. And looks back at the musical box. "I like the music." he says, with a grin, "I wanted to be a court musician. But my uncle died and I have no brothers, so." He shrugs. He considers the music box, tilting his head in thought, before he grins a little. "I can play a lute though! And the Treepipes!" He then looks back. "... Well, you know, someone's got to go out and explore. Not like the queen can do that, too risky for some royal to go out." He grins a little, tail swishing.
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz nods slowly. "Hey, you do what ya gotta do for family.. or, I suppose in yoru case, queen and kingdom. Out here, though, you'll likely have more time to get to practice. I play a few instruments, myself, through they're more stringed instruments. The guitar, the cello, the mandolin.. I'll have to show you them sometime so you actually know how they differ fromt he lute."
Star Caster Star Caster nods, holding his hands up to make a gesture similar to strumming and tuning a guitar: "Strings, yes, I know those instruments well. Like I said, lute was the only instrument mother would let me play. She doesn't know about the Treepipes, I dare say she'd have kittens if she did!" He grins wide and asides his hand conspiratorialy: "I had to trade a set of my good breeches for them with a Treefolksman at the last Feast of Saint Wind Howl." He grins mischeviously, then hmms! And looks about the beachwalk. "So this, this is a town by the ... sea? I smell salt, so must be the sea. Sand is.. strange to walk on! We don't go to the sea, though I know of it. Unicorns and the Sea.. we don't mix."
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz snickers. "Which is odd, in a way.. in this world, one of the ancient beliefs was that the god of the oceans created horses... no unicorns in that belief, though." He chuckles some. "But yes, we're by the sea. It'sa really nice town, and you learn to like the ocean.. if you like fish, sunshine and sand."
The names of all these events and kinds get his head tilting. "Um.. not sure what all the feasts and treefolksmen are about.. but I'm glad you got an instrument you like!"
Star Caster Star Caster grins sheepishly. "Ah, I'm sorry, I'm, what does Moon call it? I'm jargonbabbling." He uhms. And then pulls his sword suddenly from it's sheath! ... It's a huge thing that a kid like him probably shouldn't be able to lift, but, it's likely Golden Topaz knows a lot of kids like that. He squints at the sand, leans back, and uses it to crudely sort of sketch out a stick person with a tail. "Treefolk, look like uhm.. Like you!" he points. "Only they have tails, and longer fur on their faces." he says, with a grin. "They live in the trees, and are one of the more inventive Beastmen tribes. And uhm. The feast is basically a celebration in honor of one of the ancient heroes of my world. We remember them by feasting on their birth days. Or, death days. I can never remember which.."
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz watches the sketching and nods, smiling. "Ah, I see! Cool.. we don't really have beastmen here. Just humans... well, and some sentient gems, though not many at all.. I only know of six, not including myself." He reaches to his elbow, where his actual gemstone lies, and with a shimmer he pulls out a blade from it, a small, foldered butterfly knife he twirls and prepares, before sketching in the sand as well. "Humans are.. well, some say they evolved from apes, monkeys. I'm not so sure. But anyway, they are the dominant species on this planet, being the only one capabel of thinking with sentience to create society. The gems, come from another planet..." He sketches out rhe earth and the gem homeworld, and crude spaceships. "We came from out planet on large ships, ones made of metal that used flames and great engines to travel great distances through the cold vaccuum of space, until we reached this planet."
Star Caster Star Caster h-uhs. "You used.. boats to travel from one world to another? Wow." Star quickly lowers to his knees, and peers at the scratches closer, considering, before he points. "... I know in my world, the dragons are trying to make flying boats. It's very costly magic to open portals everywhere for travel, you see? So flying boats would be better." He says, thoughtfully. He sits back on his hooves, and considers. "So you're not a human? But.. those people," he points at the general people milling about, "Are? ... Huh. Yeah... My Nan said, that the Treefolk were like the creatures we call monkies, too. Maybe Treefolk are like, humans! For my world!" he grins. "Nan knows a lot about the old histories. She's been studying them for ages. She's almost a hundred winters old!" he hms! and then considers. "... Do you still have flying boats that go from other worlds? C-could I see one? I would love to ride a flying boat." He grins wide.
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz chuckles. "Well, sure, one sec..." he then pulls his smartphone from his pocket and begins to tap away at it, until he shows a few pictures of the rockets humanity has created. "These aren't exactly like our ships.. ours were larger, more controllable. Not exactly, boats, either, but.. well." He shrugs and smirks.
Star Caster Star Caster stares. Smartphone. Oh good googlymooga the boy's eyes widen like saucers as he looks at it. ".. Wow." he murmurs, reaching out for it- then pulling his hand away. First rule of magic is never touch someone else's magic! "... Th.. You're right, those don't look like boats." He agrees, before he rubs at the back of his head, tail entering a quizical swish. ".. This, world, is.. so much stranger." he says, thoughtfully. He blinks a few more times. ".. Do, you mind if I tell people back where I come from, about all this stuff? I mean, I might get in trouble but.. But I think maybe they deserve to know! Because this is.. this is huge!"
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz laughs and shakes his head. "I don't mind at all! I just hope they'll believe you." He flicks his blade around in his fingers, the knife switching.. changing shape, from butterfly knife, to switchblade, to karambit, to combat knife, through a myriad of different knife forms as it seems to just shift as it travels through his fingers. "Maybe sometime I'll come visit your world, too. That would be fun."
Star Caster Star Caster nods, watching the blade as it shifts a bit along fingers. "Maybe. I don't know how they would feel. The Queen, I mean. But maybe!" he grins a little, "I think visitors from somewhere else would be very wonderful! And we could exchange stuff. You could also show us more of the.. cap-po-where-a. I think the Court would like that. I know my friend Moon would love it!" he grins, tail swishing, before he puts his hand on the ground and uses it to study himself as he stands. Then he looks at the sky- he orients on the location of the sun, and frowns. "Speaking of Moon, I should probably get back. I left him standing guard because dragons don't think twice about their own watching over their magic. But I also promised I'd be quick." His tail swishes. Then he hms! "Hey, if I come back here, I can find you, right? I'll see if I can come back. Maybe if I can bring drawerings of things on parchment and show them to the Court, they'll even let us open a perminent portal." He grins.
Golden Topaz Golden Topaz smiles and nods. "Of course, sir. I'll be here, and I'll be avialable to talk, usually. Just, while you're gone, take care of yourself. I don't want to hear about somethign happening, alright? You're too young to give your life for your job yet."
Star Caster Star Caster grins, and nods. "Naw, don't worry, I don't think anything that bad will happen yet." His tail swishes, and he pauses, then adds, "Besides I've got the Luck of Lunaria on my side!" He beams! And then sheaths his sword again, and turns- he starts walking back the way he came; and once he hits the paved road his footsteps chime behind him like an odd sort of bell music.
