Pippi     OH, THAT SUNSHINE -- on a cloooudy day o/`

There's music crooning on a radio on a highrise near the Bronx Botanical Garden, taking in the late fall sunshine atop a black tar roof, lazing about in her I 8 N Y T-shirt, which has a building with a bite taken out of it on the front, and a pair of ripped up jeans. Her tail wags in time with the music as she doodles something on a notepad. There's a box of cheap cut-brand snacks called YUM YUMS at her side, the bag half emptied, and she's apparently not peturbed in the least by some of the snack food getting a little dirty. The red and white canine looks for all intents and purposes like someone really, really wanted to set their dog up for a pinterest style photo shoot -- but then suddenly left.
Drowned Ophelia It begins - with static. The friendly, cheerful song about sunshine crackles and hisses as clouds pass overhead; Just a quirk of the atmosphere at first, save the oncoming storm continues to roll in unabated and seemingly from nowhere. Trails of bruised clouds crosses the blue sky in thin wisps, slowly curling among themselves as The Temptations are slowly eaten away by the mournful echo of guitar and growling, weeping voices. DEATH METAL.
But when the door opens, it is not the Queen of Tears who enters - but a simple, young woman. Brown hair, black shirt, long jeans. Spikey bracelets, like she just escaped from some Doom Metal concert. Twin swords on either hip. Her face is pale, eyes drawn, leaning hard against the door frame. Eyes flicker to the canine, and away - then back again. Lips part for a moment, before she points a finger and states the most obvious thing she can think of.
"..you're a dog."
Fairly anti-climatic for the build up, wasn't it?
Pippi     "Huh? Comes a confused tone, and the canine pushes herself up. There's a gentle tap. A slightly harder tap -- nothing doing! Still no temptations! Pippi glances left, glances right, as if making sure no one's watching -- and she picks up the radio and /shakeshakeshakes/ it. "C'mooon, the cooking thing was on--" she pauses, and then glanced up overhead. Well. That can't be good.

"... that's not good." Pippi states (see? We told you) and she hops up, checking that she has her spiked black, studded collar on before the door opens -- and Pippi skids to a halt. Her head tilts, her ears perking up as the small dog regards the escapee from the concert with swords as she's pointed at. She points at herself.

"I'm Pippi!" she introduces herself simply, and wags her tail.
Drowned Ophelia Oh god, and its -wagging its tail- too. But unlike before, Ophelia doesn't even put a hand to her hilts this time; she's seen so many strange, bizaare thing since she woke up near that crystal lake. Surrounded by people who claimed to be her enemy and her friend. She just looks exhausted, closing her eyes for a moment to swallow the hot lump in her throat before she sighs. ".. What manner of beast are you, Pippi?"
Before shaking her head, and smirking. "Sorry. I didn't know anyone was up here. Let me catch my breath and I'll get out of your way." Eyes flick up to the darkening sky above, where streams of storm clouds keeping trying to form only to be burned away by the sun; Casting lazy shade that slowly tumbles from building to building, interrupting all sorts of tanning time.
And then back down again. The smile slipping away, unable to sustain itself. "I'm Ophelia. Uh.. human. I think."
Pippi     The tail keeps wagging, and Pippi doesn't seem to be put off by the appearance of the girl. She sits down, calmly in place (minus the wagging tail), the red and white canine giving another head tilt. "Oh, I'm a dog." she states, then looks down "... kinda. It's complicated! I think... a lot of science?" her head tilts the other way, brown eyes looking up to Ophelia.

"Are you all right, Ophelia? Do... do you need to sit down? I have snacks, but it looks like it might rain. Are you running from something?" she tries to peer behind Ophelia, snuffing the air comig out with her "... there's no one chasing you, is there?"
Drowned Ophelia Ophelia the Human - does not -smell- human. Something unnatural; Like wet earth and salt. But she certainly looks and sounds human! The slightly taller woman dipping her chin, that wry smirk not fading from her face as she closes her eyes again. ".. Yes. But nothing that can be stopped." She states. Black ichor slips down her cheek, trembling for a moment on the line of her jaw before it falls. Sizzling as it evaporates on the black tar below.
A long, slow sigh before she raises her face again, doing her best to look - well, less like she's dying. "It's just my chest; I can't get my breath back very fast." She lets the door close behind her, moving past proffered seat and snacks. Resting her forearms on the stone work along the edge, hips angled as she places her chin upon her arms next. Speaking while she looks out at the city.
"I've got time. Sort of. Why don't you tell me about how complicated it is?" There was a strange sort of calmness that came with acceptance of the inevitable. She'd never been this sociable - even -before-.
Pippi     Pippi watches with surprise at the ichor drips down her cheek. She notes the smell. She shifts her weight, unsure -- but hey, she's been around sick people before. So as Ophelia sits, Pippi hops up. "Just take some deep breathes. I'll stay right here with you." the dog replies gently, and she returns to where she was doodling, and draws up the blanket she was laying on. She shakes it off, and then she drapes it down and over Ophelia's shoulders, careful for those blades.

"Well." Pippi states, and she seems to fold up next to Ophelia, close enough to be within arm's reach but not touching. Good dog.

"I used to live with my boy. An' then he got sick. An' then I lived with this family for a while and they brought me back to the place where my first family met them, so I was good and waited, but then the men in white jackets came. An' I changed, but I got out, aaaan' I headed back to the garage but it was kin'na wrecked, and' then my friend found me and I lived iwth her, and then I got captured again but she found me and I got out /again/." she states, recounting the simplest chain of events she could, counting on her fingersas she goes.

"What about you? Are... are you sick?"
Drowned Ophelia The .. nobody, really. The Nobody glances up in surprise as she feels the blanket move about her shoulders, then settles her cheek once more upon her forearms. Somehow avoiding puncturing herself on the large spikey bracelets, of course. She listens, a slow sense of confusion crossing her features at the simplistic tail of a dog's journey, until she simply shrugs. Something about talking to Pippi came naturally; Maybe it was that tail. It just never stopped, did it? Her eyes slip aside, though, and then turn back out twoards the New York skyline. The static in the radio fades slowly away, although the Temptations are still struck by bouts of mournful guitars from some other intruding station.
"I'm not .. mm. I'm more the disease than the illness, Pippi." She begins, somber and quiet. ".. I'd leap, but I'm afraid it'd just make things worse on.. well. This world. Every world." She is silent, enjoying the random companionship, before - hesitantly - a hand stretches out to rest on Pippi's shoulder. That, somehow, felt right.
".. Good, uh.. Good Pippi." Well, that was awkward. "How can you be so.. happy, having lost as much as you did?"
Pippi     The red and white canine blinks, struggling for a moment to understand 'I'd Leap' -- but she does understand the sadness. Pippi feels the hand on her shoulder though, and then she leans down, nudging it with her nose and flipping it up, sticking her head beneath it. Good dog. She doesn't even seem phased by the bracelets.

She gets a little closer, looking out over the city.

"It's a very long fall. I'm pretty sure there would be people who'd be sad to see you go." Pippi replies gently, and she considers the question, rolling it over in her head. She's momentarily distracted by someone lifting the lid off a chilli pot, the smell of sizzling hotdogs far below before she speaks:

"Well," she begins, "I could be sad, I guess, but, what would it do?" she offers a small smile. "I like making others feel better. It's what I was born to do."
Drowned Ophelia Fingers rest gently atop Pippi's head, before slowly scratching. It -was- a perfectly natural reaction, even if awkward to be doing it to someone you're talking too. A bitter, dark smile crosses Ophelia's lips at those words, the slow trickle of black ichor sliding from the corners of her eyes once more. Black Tears. That unnatural smell, of wet earth and salt, is heightened quite suddenly. The ichor pattering slowly against her leg, where it trembles before sliding away. Hissing and eating at the tar where it strikes. "No.. that's the best part. No one would miss me." She turns her head, lips turning black, skin slowly moving past pale and towards a light blue; Someone long ago asphyxiated.
"But that's okay; It only hurts forever."
Eyes widen, and she grimaces. Returning to normal skin coloration, clutching her chest over her heart. One can almost hear the sound of .. stone cracking? After a moment it passes, and she goes back to looking out at the city.
"Then you were well weened. You're a good person, Pippi. Uh, a good dog? I wish I'd gotten to know you sooner."
Pippi     "No, it only hurts sometimes, but you can't--" Pippi begins, until she notices the smell. Her nose twitches. She turns her head, her eyes going wide. Her ears picking up as the stone cracks and the hissing, acidic ichor making its way.

"H-hey! Hey! Stay with me now. I.. I have a phone? I think it works to call nine one one --" Pippi begins, and reaches into her pocket, withdrawing an old Nokia phone. She's concerned, a little afraid.

"Well..." she trails off, her tail curling a moment, her ears pinning back, then flicking forward again. "/I/ would miss you." she states with the absoluteness and certainty of truth, the obvious truth, like saying 'the sky is blue' or 'pizza is delicious'. "There's still time?"
Drowned Ophelia A long, slow breath is drawn in and released; Cold, even in the sun, condensation forming from the broken creature's very lips. But after a few moments of composing herself, the creepy retreats, leaving just Ophelia. If anything, looking a bit more tired than when she first came up the stairs. She keeps her eyes closed for now, resting her cheek on her forearm. Her other hand returning to Pippi's head, the slow and steady scratch. Comforting, somehow.

".. That's one." She smiles, with a ghost of humor. The smile fades once more, however, sunlight behind a cloud. ".. I think so. The ones who.. did this to me. They said something went wrong. That I'm not fixed yet." A cruel little smirk. "Kudos for trying, at least. But there's still time."
Eyelids drift again, moving towards something like sleep.
".. I think."
Pippi     Her thumb was poised over the nine. Pippi looks at Ophelia. She looks at the phone, and then takes a deeep breath. "You... you need a v- doctor. Humans call them doctors, right?" she nervously asks, and with the utmost gentleness, she begins to wrap the cold Ophelia in a blanket. The snackfood was forgotten. "I can't eat kudos -- Pex says they have waaaay too much sugar and chocolate in them for me. I get hyper, and chocolate's pretty bad. Do you hae any foods you don't like, Ophelia?" she questions, and gently takes the girl into her arms, standing up, trying to carry her in a curled-up position. That should help keep her warm, right?
Drowned Ophelia ".. Mmn? RaptorElk. I hate raptorelk flank.."
Mumbles Ophelia, as she is lifted and carried. Half lucid as she shakes her head slowly, a singe eye cracking open. "Whatsa doctor? Mmneed a bass guitarist. Killmaster helps. Uhm.." Lips are caught in teeth, before she sighs softly. "I don't know where they are." After a moment's more to compose herself, she finally opens both eyes, drawn and weary.
".. You probably should put me down, Pippi. I need to get away from people. As far away as I can get, but everywhere I go are more people." A dark chuckle. "Strange. In my world, we're going extinct. Looks like we made it after all, huh?"
Pippi     "but some people are good. Some people want to help, just like I do." Pippi comments gently, and makes her way to the fire escape. Best to use the alleys, the backways, the highways through the dark that she'd been shown, and she begins to make her way down.

"I don't know bass. And all I kow on regular is 'twinkle twinkle little star', but I have to concentrate." Pippi cheerily says, content that she's going to help.

"Tell me about your world. What's it like? Are y ou from a place like New York? I think I'm from Yonkers, at least I think that's where I was bred. It's a funny name! Yonkers -- sounds like squeaky balls."
Drowned Ophelia "The glory of metal."
Whispers Ophelia, almost to herself, as she looks up at Pippi. That dark frown remaining on her face, eyes half lidded from exhaustion. "Squeaky balls?" She sounds confused, before a soft giggle rolls through her. "This place is magical. It's like stepping back to the time of the Titans." And then her smile falls away. "Mm.. no. It is a wild place; We cling to the ruins of the Titans, after they left this world. My world. All has been taken by the demons, the Tainted Coil, save for the shadow that darkens the eastern continent. Even the demons fear its touch. My people are.." Her eyes widen suddenly, and she reaches up to try and put an arm aroud Pippi's neck; To pull herself upright.
"D-down. Down, I'm okay now." she murmurs, trying to wriggle loose. "I just needed to catch my breath - before it escaped."
Pippi     Pippi is not tall. She is, however, oddly strong for her size. She doesn't appear to have any trouble carrying Ophelia as she makes her way down a fire escape, only pausing once to pull a hood up over her to try and hide some of her visage. She was listening as she carefully made the descent.

"Metal... metal metal... like... like iron metal? Or Kamelot metal?" she inquires trying to follow the conversation. "And yeah! Squeaky balls! The balls that squeak when you bite down on 'em!" she replies cheerily, her tail giving a wag.

The duo are about halfway down when Pippi gives a surprised hurk! sound, the arm around her neck as Ophelia pulls herself up. "Ack! Easy! Balance!"
Drowned Ophelia The young woman was a bit taller than the canine .. friend.. but all curled up in a blanket she sure seemed a hell of a lot smaller. Once her sneakers are upon the ground again, she puts a palm flat against the brick work. Taking a few moment to steady herself, color slowly returning to her face. Well, somewhat - she's still very pale. At last she straightens up, running a hand over her ears to clear the brown hair before looking down again. Settling the swords on either hip back into their sheaths with the palms of her hands.

"Biting on squeaky balls. I'll have to try it sometime. Hey, Pippi?" She asks, glancing aside. An eyebrow lifts, a sad little smile twisting her lips up sideways. "...Can you do me a big favor? I know we just met. Can you.. remember me? Like this?"
Pippi     Tailwag. Wagwagwag. Pippi's ears go back, and she gives a pleased smile. "Well, yeah! I remember everyone the best I can. Now, c'mon. We should get you to a doctor. I know how to get places without being seen -- Alopex showed me." the canine replies, reaching up to straighten the blanket around Ophelia's shoulders, should she be feeling chilled.
Drowned Ophelia A soft chuckle, before Ophelia moves forward to try and capture Pippi - in a HUG. And not even a brutal one either, with cuts and spikes and what not, but a perfectly normal hug. Silent as she pulls back, unraveling the blanket from about her shoulders and tucking it neatly over the anthro-canine's shoulder instead. Something very final in her movements, a touch lingering on the rough texture. A long and slow breath, turning her gaze to the bruising skies above - the thin slits that can be seen between buildings deep as canyons.
"Thanks. But.. I think I need to go home. See if I can set things right before the end." A wry little grin. "So... if .. they can fix me, I think I'd like to come back. And you can show me what yonkers tastes like?"
Pippi     Pippi is captured! HEr ears prick up, and she raises her arms and gently -- oh so gently -- she wraps her arms around the strange young woman, her tail wagging as fast as it can, and when they part she looks confused.

Pippi looks up. She gets a queasy feeling in her stomach, and then she shakes her head, and she takes the blanket, and re-wraps it around Ophelia, like a scarf. "You might get cold. And if they fix you, come back, and find me. I live in the Bronx." she gives a small smile, her tail wagging. "I'll keep an eye out for you!"
Drowned Ophelia "The land of Bronx. Got it."
Laughs Ophelia, a true and honest laughter. Before - with one more lingering glance - she turns and moves off into the alleyways themselves. A slow and steady pace, her desire for stealth and discipline forgotten in the news of her inevitable Doom. Hands trailing along the scarf, the smile fading once more. Arms curling about her own shoulders, chin lowering once more.
".. Goodbye, my friend." She murmurs.
Where she walks, the budding storm follows. Where she travels, static and corruption curl about radios and televisions. Sorrow is rising once more to claim its own~
