Pippi     LAMBDA LABS -- UPPER NY STATE

A facility held out in the middle of the woods, without oversight since it's labeled an 'animal behavior lab', specializing in psychology -- mostly rats and mice on paper. The occasional housepet dog.

    Some know better, though.

The facility is guarded from intruders by razor wire, its front drive monitored carefully. It has gates and fences, and over an atrium where the staff can take their lunch breaks, there's a few unguarded skylights.

THe sun is setting over the mountains nearby, casting the sky in a mixture of green-yellows and violets.

A guard is walking along the peremeter of the facility, with a German Shepherd at his side.
Alopex     The report of 'Lambda' capturing the famed 'Beast of the Bronx' was all the evidence Alopex needed to look into the disappearence of a friend from before the Unification. Uncertain of how Unification worked, Alopex had worried that her friend MAY have been lost to whatever this event had caused. The news report told her different. Days of hunting information came and went and finally resulted in a location in Upper New York. The place was far too guarded for just a simple 'pet lab' but if the stories she was told about this place had any truth to them, she'd need more than just herself dealing with this place.

        Cue a phone call.

Now, the Fox is waiting for the roo at a set of cordinates a few hundred yards away from the complex, hoping that the two of them could handle this better than just the ninja alone.
Rebound With a thud, Rebound lands pretty hard, "You didn't tell me what was up, just that I needed to meet you out here in the middle of the woods at sunset near what, from a distance, looks like it may well be a military facility." Rebound says, as she makes her way up to where the fox is waiting.

"So you gonna tell me what the plan is? Is there a plan? Do we just get to shoot our way inside and see what happens?" Shoot being relative, Rebound doesn't actually use guns, but the expression stays the same.
Alopex     "That," she motions, "Is supposed to just be an animal research facility. I wonder why they need armed guards with attack dogs, don't you?" Alopex turns to Rebound after she lands, happy to see that she's arrived. "A news story, is the reason for this visit. If you didn't see it, basically a 'legendary' monster called the 'Beast of the Bronx' was captured by people from this facility. I intended to free this 'beast' because if it is who I believe it is, they are not so dangerous as the internet thinks they are..."
Pippi     ... or they're exactly as dangerous as everyone says they are.

THe two mutates dont' appear to be in any danger so far from the facility. The wind shifts, though, carrying the hospital-clean smell of its exterior, of bleach trying to wash away the smell and pheramones of fear to the two. The wind, at least, is working in their favor.
Rebound "Okay." Rebound replies as she steps up to the egde of where Alopex had been waiting and looks at the facility, "So these guys got your friend and we need to bust 'em out." She says, "I got it. What's the play then? You sneak in while I make a distraction at the front gate?"
Alopex     A nod, "That would be fine." A breath, a sigh, the fox stretches a bit, and then settles. "At your leasure, Rebound. I'll follow in about 60 seconds. Make some noise."
Pippi     THe place is largely peaceful, most of the staff having gone home for the night. The dog turns, its ears swiviling, but it doesn't seem to be too bothered by the smell of a fox. There were tons of foxes, after all.

Both guard and dog pass by.
Rebound "Alright. Showtime." Rebound says, as she looks at the guard and dog between them and the fence, and then takes a few steps back, and then a running leap. She aims for the roof of the front guard post, landing on it with a heavy enough thud to crack the cement. That should get the guard to at least come out and see what's up.
Alopex Behind, the fox simply begins to count, giving the full minute that she promised her ally. Mentally, she was visualizing what she could remember of the blueprints, old ones, that she was able to find. She hopes they're still accurate.

    "1... 2... 3... 4... 5..."
Pippi     "What the --" the Guard asks, and he kennels the dog, before looking up at the crack. The concrete and plaster chip a little bit, dropping onto his iPad before he puts on his cap, and grabs a shotgun, drawing out of the little guard hut armed.
Rebound Oh he has a gun. Rebound flips down off of the roof and lands in front of the guy, "Hey listen, so I think I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. Could you tell me if this is the right place?" She of course, isn't actually going to give him a chance to respond, reaching out to grab the shotgun and direct it away from her with one hand, before twisting to throw him into the fence at the same time, hopefully retaining control of the weapon in the process.
Alopex         "45... 46..." Still counting, Alopex traces a mental map of the route she wanted to take. It seemed the fastest way without marching down hallways that could be problematic. Vents could be used, ductwork, other side-passages, anything to get into high-security holding...

"...60.." Once said, the ninja-fox takes off like a bullet, vaulting the wall and surging for a particular side door. If its locked, hopefully the Tentetsutou will make the door more... agreeable.
Pippi     "HEY!" the guy growls, and turns to fire off a rapport of the shot gun -- but nothing doing. The gun's wrenched away and the guy is slung into the fence, rattling the metal. The dog inside the guardhouse began to bark aggressively, pawing at its cage to try and get out, growling menicingly at the kangaroo!

THe door is locked. the lock is easy taken care of by Tentetsutou. It doesn't appear to be alarmed.
Rebound Rebound takes a second to rack the shotgun several times until it's empty, and then tosses it off to the side before crouching down next to the guard, "Hey so how many folks you got on duty tonight?" She asks, as she prods him with a finger, "C'mon I didn't hit you hard enough to knock you out. Work with me here."
Alopex     One door down, many to go. Without an alarm to sound, Alopex silently rushes through the hall, ears swiveling even in the air, listening for anyone or anything nearby. All her senses were on alert, now. Bleach and disinfectant were almost unbearable within the facility, but notes of anyone else would cause her caution. All but one, scent, at least.

Taking another turn at a run, she spots the stairwell that was her first target. At distance, it didn't SEEM locked, so the blade is sheathed again.. "Just a little longer.."
Pippi     Alopex's doors are locked, but there is a keycard slider. There is a large sign over head that says LEVEL 1 -ADMINISTRATIVE - STAIRS TO KENNELS/LAB
Pippi     The guy, on the other hand, gives a cough, "this had to be the day Larry calls off." he spits, and then giving a GRRAAAH! he tries to bull-rish the kangaroo!
Alopex     A growl. The door WOULD be locked, and not one that looks like the blade could handle. She diverts, looking for the nearest security room or guard with her ears and nose, but not her eyes. If she picks up the right information with them, she'd show herself into the ventiliation system and close distance that way. It wasn't as though she could smell or hear a keycard, after all. Best to be cautious, now.
Rebound Rebound is surprised by the guy's desire, "Dude, come on." She doesn't want to hurt this guy, so she tries to plant one hand on his head and hold him at arm's length, "Are they really paying you enough to fight one of the most dangerous women on the planet? I could have kicked your ass BEFORE I was a giant kangaroo." She notes, before letting go and sidestepping
Pippi     The man's taking useless swings at the kangaroo before she lifts her hands -- and he scrambles forwards, then sharp-turns and DIVES for a Big, Red Button inside that guard house.

"Hey, do you hear Thor barking over the comms? You don't think Mark's in trouble, do you?" comes a voice from a 'Lounge' area, and the sound of a chair scraping against cheap tile floor.

"I'll go check it out." a guard says, and he begins to make his way towards the door out, making a left to head out the front way.
Alopex     Perfect, Alopex thinks. A number of guards, all in one place. That would probably be her best chance. The following thought is a decision for her, though. Pounce the single guard moving for the entrance, or move on the two in the lounge. Mm. The less guards, the better, she decides. And if her ambush draws the other two out, so be it. She pauses at a vent, waiting for the man to pass as she carefully removes the panel. After he slips by, she silently drops down, skims him from top to bottom, and then? Sleeper hold. He should be out like a light -very- shortly..
Rebound "Seriously? I'm going out of my way to not hurt you and that's how you treat me?" Rebound says, shaking her head, "I'm hurt, I really am. I mean this whole time I could have just done this."

She hops into range of him and then drops back onto her tail, raising up and then slamming both feet forward. One of her signature attacks, and the one she knocked over a semi with once. She's not using THAT much power, but it'll be enough to take the guy down for the count.
Pippi     Ka-THONK. Guardman Mark is out like a light. Winnar, and STILL Champ-eeeeyon, REBOUND!

The guard gives a choked sound as he goes down, and it's easy enough to lift his passcard off him. It's even marked "ALL LEVEL ACCESS", how handy!
Alopex     Wonderful! A little bit of luck as the fox moves through the facility. The man that is now quite unconscious, is pushed into a little room nearby, and then Alopex darts back off toward the stairwell door. She had this bad feeling this was going just a little to easily..
Rebound The kangaroo grabs the keycard and swipes herself into the front door, heading on into the facility, "You know you'd think they'd keep more guards on duty if they have this 'horrible scary monster' stored here." Rebound says to herself, as she badges her way into the front door of the facility.
Pippi     And the Kangaroo might see another guard going down, thanks to Alopex's efforts. Two mutanimals, two keycards, one missing friend.

The stairway to the lab awaits.

"Huh. Mark's not getting to Thor's barking." comes a voice from the lounge.

"... did you hear something out there? Sounded like a woman."

"Eh. Professor Lib's probably staying late again. You know she's focused on that monster they got down there."
Alopex     It's just as Alopex reaches the stairwell door that she notices Rebound on approach, raises a finger to make a 'shh' motion, and then makes a follow up motion toward the 'lounge' then also followed by holding up two fingers. Lastly, she just smiles, figuring that Rebound would be able to handle the two in the lounge. With that done, she heads down the stairwell..
Rebound The kangaroo gives a nod in response to Alopex, and motions for her to head downwards, as she moves up to the edge of the door to the lounge, "Oh dear, I appear to have slipped and torn my clothes! Could someone come and help me!" She calls out, putting on her best 'damsel in distress' voice while preparing to dick punch the first guy to come out of the lounge.
Pippi     "What the-- that's not Professor Lib." comes one of the voices, and both guards shuffle up and out of their seats. There's the sound of nightsticks being drawn as they make their way to the door to go to the hall.

BARKBARKBARK goes the kenneled dog outside.

And Alopex enters into the kennels below.

THere are indeed shelves here lined with cages. White rats with pink eyes, white mice. Some have ears growing on their backs, others are lumpy with tumors, others clinging on in pain. There were mazes, and someone had a diagram up on the wall, some sort of bipedal mousetrap with "B. STOCKMAN AND A. ONEIL -- PATENTED 1984".

THere is another door. This one was marked "LEVEL 2 CONTAINMENT"
Alopex     The fox continues forward, a single objective locked on in her mind. An idle glance slips around the room, wincing at the state of some of the lab rats within their cages. It reminded her far too much of the lab she had come out of in Fairbanks. A large part of her wanted to destroy this awful place, but another would just rise in its place. Meh.

Seeing the door marked LEVEL 2, Alopex's face goes stern, trying the door, the keyward, and then Tentetsutou if needed.
Rebound "Oh shoot, you found me." Rebound says, as she steps out in front of the door, "Really guys? Nightsticks? I disarmed your buddy with a shotgun like two minutes ago and you're gonna come at me with sticks?" She shakes her head, "And you, look at you." She points at the second guy, "You don't even have a nametag, what chance do you have? Look why don't you both save us all some time and just throw yourselves on the ground now."
Pippi     The two gents look at one another... and then ignite the sticks. They arc with electricity, and then they both try to bull rush the kangaroo girl, one coming to her left, the other to the right, trying to keep her in the narrow doorway!

"Did one of those things ESCAPE?"

"I thought only ONE of those creatures could talk!"

Alopex is given access to level two security. There are barred doors here. It smells of flesh. And sweat. And fear. It smells of droppings and urine and bleach. There are growls. Snarls. Inhuman noises. It must be on a different air intake than the main lab.
Alopex     Alopex's ears drop when she enters. The smell within was almost overwhelming, however, she presses on in defiance of it. She -will- find who she came form. Each barred door is looked at in turn as she slowly makes her way through the lab. Something or someone is going to bark, she just knows it..
Rebound Oh crap those aren't normal nightsticks. Rebound jumps back as the guys come in, "Shit, hey!" She drives forward to try to level one of the guys with a punch, getting zapped by the second guy in the process as she goes in though. The charge shoots through her, stunning her for a moment.
Pippi     THere's growls. Hisses. As Alopex walks by a door, something reaches out, with cat's claws, trying to grab at her ears as it hisses mindlessly, its only desire that of something that is HUNGRY.

There's grunts, and a snarl. And a door at the far end. It used to have a 3 on it, but it's been covered over with "LEVEL 5. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY. DO NOT ENTER ALONE. DO NOT UNLOCK INTERIOR DOOR. DO NOT ENGAGE IF ESCAPE OCCURS."
Pippi     And the first guy goes down with a grunt to Rebound, skidding a bit on the tile, the zapstick going away.

The second one zaps, pulls back, and then /zaps again for good measure/ as he reaches for his walkie "Hey, Sarge, get Professor Lib -- I think it's got /friends/."
Alopex Jackpot. That's what Alopex, believes, at least. Some part of her seriously doubts that this little keycard from a seemingly random guard will work, but nothing ventured nothing gained. After avoiding the cat-creature with a very subtle movement, the fox stands fully, holds her breath, and tries the door, then the keycard if needed. "I really hope this works.."
Rebound Rebound winds up getting zapped a few more times, as she tries to get up but ends up held down by the two guys and zapped. Seems her cockyness got the best of her, because they had anti-mutant weapons at the ready. As she swims in and out of unconciousness, she hopes Alopex finds what she's looking for soon
Pippi     CLICK. The door opens. There's a whisper of it sliding, and the smell of fear, in here, is much, much stronger.

The first thing Alopex would notice is that the exam window is much smaller. Harder to hit. The second thing she would notice is that the door buldges outwards in several spots -- just the right size for a set of fists, punching outwards. There are teeth marks on the steel tubes of the window. The place hasn't been cleaned in days, if not longer.

However, the door opening caught someone's attention. There's a quiet whimper, a rattle of metal on metal before a thin, tiny voice speaks up:

    "Pex? Is that you?"
Pippi     ZAAAP.

"Are there more of you?!" ZZZAP! "Speak up, Mate! G'day! Struth!" ZAP

    "Tony. That's racist."

"IT'S AN ANIMAL. You know they don't think like us!" the two guardsmen begin to argue, one holding his side, clearly injured. They do let up for a minute or two...
Alopex     She knew how strong Pippi was, but this was rather.. intimidating. Still, when the door opens her senses get another punch of the same scent throughout the place, but then she hears just what she wanted to hear. "Pippi?" She shoves the door the rest of the way open, "... What did they ..?" She stops. She already knows. She went through it already. "Lets get you out of here.."
Rebound The zapping is really starting to hurt. Rebound is actually starting to get a bit pissed off, "Yeah. Tons of us." Rebound replies, "Rhinos and geckos and aligators, oh my."

She reaches out to grab the hurt guy's zap stick, and ram it into the gut of the guy who's not hurt. After all, he's the one who has A) Been zapping her a bunch and B) Poses the much bigger threat. Once she has him out of the way, the other guy should be easy enough to take down.
Pippi     Thumpthumpthumpthump. That's the sound of pretty much the only thing not weighed down hitting against the wall. A simple keyswipe opens the door, and it opens to show Pippi in a sorry state. She's pinned down ot the floor, bolts the size of her wrists holding chain down over her neck. Her hands are bound down in cuffs bolted to the floor. Her legs are tethered. Her tail was shaved down, and its bare skin whacks against the side of the containter. There's a drain that hasn't been cleaned, and she's gotten sores on her arms and legs, and likely her stomach. Her eyes well up with tears.

"Pex! It IS you! I thought you -- and the fire -- and... and... and..."

she gives a shudder, and begins to cry.

The first guy is taken, zapped, and the zapstick interacts with HIS zap stick and he goes down, twitching, his ears smoking slightly.

THe injured guy just backs off before he goes flying again... and Rebound might hear the sound of a siren going off in warning.

Down below, there is a much louder alert. "WARNING. ESCAPE IN PROGRESS."
Alopex     Seeing Pippi in such a state causes the ninja to frown for a long mment. "It's okay, Pippi," she says rather cooly, starting to draw her blade. "Stay very still, Pippi. Hopefully this will only take a few moments.." That said, with -refined- training and skill, Alopex starts to slice at the bindings. She had faith in her blade, but she's hoping this isn't too much for it.
Rebound With the alarms going off, Rebound picks herself back up off the ground, and gives the second guy a solid bonk over the head with one of her hands. She's not going to hurt him but it should knock him out. She grabs one of their radios and then looks at it for a second, "Hey Alopex, I dunno if you can hear this but we need to get out of here before backup shows up!"
Pippi     "Hey Alopex, I dunno if you can hear this but we need to get out of here before backup shows up!" parrots a squawk-box on the wall.

Pippi stays very, very still, and as she's loosened, she easily pushes up on the chains, and slowly draws to a stand. She's in almost as bad a condition as when Alopex first found her in the parking garage, but she shakes off -- even if she stinks -- and gives a familiar smile up to her, renewed with hope.

"Time to make like a tree?" she asks the fox.

Meanwhile, the radio crackles on a different channel "What the -- why is THOR caged up? Mark? The hell happened out here?! Tony! Jasper! KEvin! THe hell is going on IN there?!"
Alopex     "...and leave. Yes," she finishes the pun, though with as much a smile as the pup, despite her condition. "I have a friend with me, looks like a kangaroo. Don't hurt her, alright? We owe her. I think we need to introduce her to the your favorite at FlyBy, alright?" the fox turns, motions for Pippi to follow, "The way out isn't too hard, can you keep up?"
Rebound "Uh. Everything's fine, nothing to worry about. Just a slight weapon's malfunction. We're all fine here now. How are you?" Rebound says into the radio, trying her best to sound like a guy and probably failing miserably at it.

She really hopes that Alopex and whoever she's rescuing is on their way back up here soon, because they need to get out of here ASAP./
Pippi     "What? Who is this? What's your identification number?!" A very confused person answers back over the radio.

"As long as you don't need me to jump alleyways..." Pippi admits, and she gives a nod, and her tail wags. "The Bacon Commander." she tates, and maybe, just maybe, her stomach makes that grrroOOOwowowwbllel.... rbrb... noise.
Alopex "Exactly.. I think she would like that, for one reason or another. Her name is Rebound, by the way," Alopex remembers before starting to move back through the lab. "Lets get out of here.."
Rebound "Oh my identification number is One Three Three Seven." Rebound replies, "Listen I'll be honest, this isn't working. Your guys are all unconcious and we're on our way out. We're definitely coming out the front door, so you should mass all of your forces there and arrest us."

Reboud makes her way to the stairwell she saw Alopex dissapear down, grabbing one of those shock sticks for good measure on her way, as she opens the door, "Alopex, lets move! We've got company!"
Pippi     "Let's get outta here." Pippi states, and with a surprising amount of energy for someine who looks to be in bad shape, she bounds through the gates, "bye everyone!" -- up the stairs --

And Rebound wouldn't see Alopex first, but a shrimp of a canine, with red and white fur. She blinks those big ol' brown eyes of hers, rubbing a moment at her shaggy hair, the rest of her body fur tightly curled before she remembers her manners, and holds her hand out to Rebound.

    "Hi! I'm Pippi!"
Alopex     At least Alopex isn't far behind. "Yes, yes you are." Then to Rebound, "She'll look better after some food and a shower. Trust me. Lets get out of here, there's a side door I came in, probably preferable, don't you think?" She doesn't wait for an answer, she just darts off for said side door.
Rebound "Hi Pippi, I'm Rebound!" The kangaroo replies, "You ready to get out of here?! C'mon!" She motions for Alopex to lead the way, since she seems to know about the side door. She'll let Pippi follow and then Rebound will bring up the rear
Pippi     Ker-WHUMP.

A one-inch thick steel door slams shut.

    KERWHUMP.

ANd another, behind the trio.

Pippi's tail drifts between her legs and she whimpers 'No no no no no..." and goes to cover her eyes with her hands.

And then she takes a deep breath.

And then she rushes the door leading the way out, and --

"KIYAAH!" -- kicks it. It folds in half, coming out of its track, and then she procedes to use the door to bull rush through the side door, and make her way outside. "I am not stayin' in this stinkin' place ANYMORE!"
Alopex     If Alopex was any other kind of fox, she'd probably turn pale at the show of strength. She glances back at Rebound, "Don't ever make her angry," she whispers before looking back forward again, "WAY TO GO! Lets get goin while the getting's good!"
Rebound Yeah, getting out of here is way too important right now, "I kinda wish I'd brought some kind of explosives or something to level this place." Rebound says as the three of them head out the side door that Pippi just destroyed, "I like her already." The kangaroo waits until they're in the open past the door and then takes a running leap, clearing the fence and then kicking down a section of it for the other two.
Pippi     Even Pippi's usually boundless energy was hitting something of a wall, though, she's still carrying the steel wall (bent in half), and is panting as she makes her way, following Alopex and Rebound. "Oh! Right! Manners -- nice to meet you, Rebound!"
Alopex     "Drop the door!" Alopex calls before watching Rebound vault the wall. With the section open, she motions for Pippi to go. She's just turning around for a moment to make sure there's no pursuers. After she's sure it's clear, she'll turn to catch up. The night that follows will probably involve water, food, and a lot of catching up for Rebound.
Pippi     "Door dropped!" THUNK!

And Pippi moves a bit faster. And yes, catch up, and Pippi not leaving Alopex's side. Seperation anxiety.
