Ciel Alencon     The Fenrir Institute for Apotheosis Reinstatement, more commonly known as 'Friar,' makes its way across the landscape. It's not terrible fast, but it is a mobile fortress that can stand up to Aragami attack, given its complement of defenses. There aren't many things at all like this in the world.

Inside it, Ciel Alençon waits in the lobby area, just down the steps from the operator's counter, and near a large display. The vending machine continues to blink lights at her, but its attempts to coerce her into impulsive behavior are largely doomed to failure. She's expecting a new arrival at any moment, so she sits and waits, in uniform.
Yuko Minami First day on the job. Don't screw this up. Big smile, don't look down too much. The suit looks fine, everything's in place... Okay.

     Show time.

     -TEN MINUTES LATER-

After speaking with one Doctor Rachel Claudius, a young lady in a suit emerges from the elevator with a bright smile and a pair of half-rimmed glasses. She's looking a just little worn down, possibly from stress, but also immensely relieved. She makes a beeline for the vending machine that had tempted Ciel moments earlier, pausing only when she notices that black bracelet around her arm.

It matches the brown-haired girl's bracelet, too. "... Oh? Oh! You must be Miss Alencon, right?" Her voice is cheerful, at least, even if that greeting is keeping her from getting a much needed drink.

Just keep smiling. First impressions are important!
Ciel Alencon     Ciel stands. She'd salute, but no one actuall told her what the newest recruit's rank was--not captain, obviously, since Julius continued to hold that position. He really should have been here, but she understands how busy he's been kept. The thought of filling the role of 'the veteran paired with the rookie who makes sure the first few missions are survivable' herself is enough to make her a little nervous, though the effects of this on her expression are subtle. She's not /that/ long been a veteran.

"Hello. Yes, I am corporal Ciel Alençon, Blood unit. And you are... Yuko Minami, correct?" She's calm and formal, as always.
Yuko Minami So far, so good. Yuko nods first and offers Ciel a firm salute before raising her right hand and showing off that telltale black bracelet signifying herself as a God Eater. "That's right, Corporal~ I'll be working under you and Captain Visconti starting today. Make use of me as you see fit!"

She pauses, then adds after a brief awkward chuckle. "Well, nothing too crazy at first, I hope. I've only foguht in the simulations so far, but I haven't fought in any real combat yet. But... I think I've got a good hang of using a Variant Scythe by now!" Although her voice isn't necessarily confident, it's certainly upbeat. Too upbeat, perhaps?
Ciel Alencon     Ciel returns the salute half-reflexively, eyes then naturally drawn to the bracelet, before settling back on Yuko's face. Her arm lowers. While she hasn't worked closely with many, she's getting the feeling that Yuko's further into the majority camp of God Eaters: those with a lighter military background. It doesn't bother her, exactly, but it's always harder to predict some kinds of people.

"I'll look forward to seeing you can accomplish. The doctor has high expectations, and we'll likely deploy in short order, the two of us. The captain was not available, but I expect he'll want to personally meet you shortly." There might be something of an accelerated timetable for getting this unit up and running, just short of being unreasonably reckless, but for God Eaters, that's not uncommon, in Ciel's experience. If Yuko thought she'd be kept in simulations for long... well, that's not too likely. That given, "I'll be supporting you in the field, and I'll expect the same."
Yuko Minami Yuko peers at Ciel quizzically as she tries to get a better read on the corporal, her own lack of military training likely showing through her somewhat relaxed stance. Although it's not a completely slouched one by any means, it's clear that she's been under a bit of stress, whether it's from meeting with Rachel, first-timer's jitters over possibly going onto the field soon, or a whole host of other things.

"I'm sure we'll meet those expectations as long as we stick together. We can't be too careless even if we're in a team, but if we work our way up and prove our worth..." That'd be ideal, wouldn't it? Fighting lots of small fries, getting good enough gear to make the bigger targets a breeze... "We'll be fine as long as we're careful~ And I certainly do hope to meet this Captain one day! Between the three of us... I think we'll be able to manage real well, won't we?"
Ciel Alencon     Ciel would probably even look a little sleepy if it weren't for her brow. Still... maybe a little... too relaxed? Though that doesn't fit with the precision-oriented attitude. She definitely has an eye for detail, and if that isn't obvious yet, it will be shortly.

"Of course. There are no circumstances under which a God Eater should relax in the field, but great faith has been placed in us." It's a little heavy. "Preparation is key to victory. With that in mind, I've prepared a schedule to make use of all available time. We'll go over specific Aragami tactics, weapon tactics, and squad tactics given our loadout. Oh, I use the sniper and short blade, so we'll need to cover your familiarity with that, too."

Is there room in that schedule for R&R? ... Probably not.
Yuko Minami Oh, indeed. Best to be overprepared than underprepared, right? Easier to carry extra tools back home than a..." Although the last part's left unsaid, it's probably clear enough what Yuko's referring to. Despite the heavier subject matter, though, she's still looking and sounding just as chipper as ever.

"Oh? Schedules are good. Keeps everything organized, gives clear training goals... Who knows? Maybe we'll even have enough time to iron out the details by the time new members arrive~"

Yuko claps her hands together for emphasis at that, then adjusts her bracelet a bit and turns to the vending machine. The temptation is just too strong, but maybe she can turn this into an opportunity, too! "I'm using a Variant Scythe and Blast Gun for now, so we should be able to complement each other nicely. Ah... Anything you want to drink from here? My treat~"
