Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli was sitting on the couch, watching season 5. She didn't see the problem. It wasn't THAT bad. Okay, sure, it had a few more Paulette scenes, but she didn't mind Paulette. She could understand the biggest problem, though.

Percy broke his leg. Dun dun duuuuun. It was very drama inducing and it, frankly, made no sense. They didn't think the plotline out very well. Lapis was sitting and... wearing... new clothes? She had on a purple dyed kimono with black snowflakes. A snowy sky-gray sash was wrapped around her waist, keeping it on. It was very... new for her. She also had popcorn. She wasn't eating it. It was just... there.
Peridot Peridot walked into the beach house from the front portal, pushing the screen door aside with a loud squeak. The imperious little gem let out a small breath and unclasped the cloak around her shoulders. She had been making herself seen more frequently around the beach house, despite her reserved feelings for certain crystal gems; there was a steadily growing number of gems she did trust. Making this the safest location she knew.

"Lazuli!" Peridot smiled as she she flung her cloak in the general direction of the coat rack. It landed unceremoniously on the floor with a plop and Peridot strolled through. "You won't believe what I found today." She held up a dirty rusted blow dryer. "A semi-mobile air-furnace! There is like, at least three functions I could re utilize this device for! One of which could be easily be weaponized! Nyeh hehe.."

She blinked at the tv. Ugh. Season 5.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli glanced up at Peri and smiled. Ah, of course. "Truly? That sounds great!" she said chipperly. "How hot can it go? Do the humans use it to burn through steel beams? I think I saw some of those devices once when I was flying over a building they were constructing."

She paused the show and got to her feet, moving to the smaller gem. Okay, this was a big thing for humans, right? And it was all a quest for her to find who she was. Like this weird outfit which she was... grudgingly... finding to be oddly nice. It was soothing. "Peridot, I have a... desire to try a human custom with you. One I'm not quite certain I understand all the functions of, but I was told it is something humans do quite frequently. And it was on camp pining hearts as well. If you would agree to my test?"

Ugh, she didn't know why she cared. It was just Peridot. Still, she'd never really done... this before. She wished she'd thought to ask Steven before doing it.

Worst of all, though. She was anxious. There was NO penalty if it didn't go well. Worst case? Peridot didn't like it. She could do something else. Yet she felt this odd dread gnawing at her. As if her not liking it would be a horrible travesty.
Peridot "Hot enough to nearly burn my hand off, I think. I'm not sure. I took it away before that could occur and have yet to run a full diagnostic of it's capabilities. But, I'm very confident!"
"I've been becoming quite the expert on human customs." She announced, tucking her thumbs under her vest and looking up with a haughty expression. "And of course, I always support the scientific method. Hypothesize, test, and peer review."

Peridot tossed the blow dryer over her shoulder and it landed with a clatter on the ground. "So, what do I need to do in order to comply?"
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked and then smiled to her. "Just... accept it." She clenched her fists and looked down at her. A little bit of dark blue flowed into her cheeks. She could do this. The audience stared with breathless anticipation. Her hands reached up and...

Her gem glowed. After a few moments four little devices of ice appeared in her hands. They were... boots? Gloves? "I... noticed when I returned that your artificial limb enhancers were gone. I know how much they meant to you, so I created these." She held them out. "Artificial artificial limb enhancers." Good ol' AALEs. "They will melt in a few hours, I suppose, but my powers only affect water. I thought... you might like them." It was that, or make her a giant mecha with ice, but that seemed silly. Also, it wouldn't have worked. These limb enhancers didn't have any real movable limbs, aside from the fingers wiggling a little. A full mecha would have just stood there.

Ugh, she wanted to toss them on the ground. This was stupid. She was stupid. Why did humans do this? "It's a... gift." Gifts were stupid. Why didn't they just give each other the resources to MAKE what they wanted. Or buy it. Why choose something else that the person might not like or need? Peridot was smart, she probably could have just made these if she wanted.

Despite her internal doubt, she kept her face flat and calm, the only sign of her inner turmoil was the small hint of blue in her cheeks as she held them out.
Peridot Peridot blinked a few times as her brows laid flat across her eyes as she surveyed the device in front of her. Then after a moments considering, she looked up. She had received gifts in the past. But, that was a life time ago, and it was before she understood the ritual, and the significance of presents. Back whens he was a bad gem. At the time, she didn't really appreciate them.

But, she was different now. Peridot smiled and stepped forward, hugging Lapis's legs. "Wow! Thanks!" she said before stepping back and looking the limb enhancers over. "This is quite the application of your powers! I didn't know you could utilize them for such fine control."

She reaches forward taking the enhancers and begins to try them on starting with her arms. "Ah! Very brisk!" She commented as the chilling ice wrapped around her hand. She then went on to step into boots, suddenly being the same height as Lapis. Which, in itself made her feel strange. "How nostalgic! I forgot what being tall felt like!"
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked and stared at her. Then, slowly, her eyes lowered as the gem hugged her leg. That was... weird. It felt nice, though. She liked them. The corners of her lips went up as she stared at the little gem, her icy heart cracking, just a little bit. Warmed by Peridot's glow.

Then the gem put them on and she was standing, eye to eye with her. It definitely felt odd. It brought back old memories, not all of them pleasant. But... enough of them were. She reached out and took her hand. "My powers have all kinds of fine utilizations," she said firmly. "Sadly, they will melt eventually. But... I can make more of them later if you wish. I think being tall is a good look for you. Though, I can't deny I find your natural form a little cuter." She took a glance down at herself. How would Peridot term it?

"What do you think of my... appearance modifiers? A human recommended them to me. She said it would help me to better understand who I am and will become."
Peridot "It's totally weird!" Peridot answered brashly, honestly and optimistically. "I actually thought you had rolled around in a pile of fabric before I walked in and that you were still tangled up in it." She grinned.

She paused for a moment. Wait. Maybe that was insensitive. "Er, but, I mean-- I feel that way about all earthling clothing and I don't fully understand the purpose of certain appearance modifiers." She explained with broad gestures of her new limbs.  "But uh.. now that I realize it's all intentional. I'm starting to discern the form in a more critical way. The colors are complimentary. I think."

"Ultimately, I think they're great. Did they come from your gem or did someone give them to you?" As she went on, the cold from her limb enhancers began to slowly set in, as she began to shiver slightly.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli stared at her for a moment. Peridot was right. It was weird. She stared for a few moments before nodding. "Someone gave them to me. She said they might help me to... understand myself. It was a weird idea, though." Her gem glowed for a moment and then the kimono disappeared, her own dress re-appearing.

She then glanced to the gloves and the shivering Peridot. "Peridot? Are you cold?" Her ice wasn't THAT cold she thought. But then again, she was a Lapis. She was able to easily survive at the bottom of the ocean or in the cold reaches of space. Ice was nothing to her. "Are peridots sensitive to the cold?" She wished she'd known more about other gems.

She eyed her for a few moments before reaching out and grabbing the Peridot to pull her close. She was cooler, but definitely warmer than the ice. "Does this help? Are my... gifts negatively affecting you?"
Peridot "Of course not!" Peridot announced. But, the ice was beginning to really chill her limbs. Fortunately, she wasn't susceptible to frost bite. But she could certainly feel the cold. She began to shake. "No negative effects here! Just big powerful ice-limbs! Hoo-wa!" She raised her arm and punched downwards, splintering the coffee table into splinters. "Booyah!" She posed. Still shaking.

As Lapis pulled her close, Peridot's cheeked turned green. "Uh.." She coughs. "Well. I mean, maybe they are a little chilly. But, It's really simple thermodynamics. I just have to put together insulating gloves and boots to wear underneath, and blammo! Total ice-fortress of destruction mode."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded and then dragged her over to the couch. "I see." She'd wave her hand and they'd pop off and she'd hold them in front of Peridot's gem. "Perhaps you should store them for later?" She'd then sit down, holding the peridot in her lap. Once again, like a giant teddy. The poor little Peridot. "I have almost finished with this Camp Pining Hearts. I feel I am beginning to understand the human's ideas of romance and love."

She was calm for a second before unpausing it. "It... is similar to fusion, I think. But... nicer. I think I understand the desire for Paulette and Percy. Paulette is weak, it would be easy for Percy to destroy and control her in a fusion. Errrr... A relationship."
Peridot Peridot focused for a moment, storing the ice-guantlets away. They could be useful eventually. Granted that Peridot's typical method for dealing with threats was to run away while shooting her blaster over her shoulder. A little extra height on demand wasn't something she was going to easily over look.

"I'm still a little iffy on fusion. But, I certainly can't deny that tactical application." She rubs her chin, seemingly not minding sitting in Lapis's lap. "And it's not like I can be punished for trying it now. I've already called Yellow Diamond a clod. What else can she do to me that she's not already planning
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded and kept hugging her close, arms around the little squishy gem. "Indeed. I'm not sure how I feel about fusion anymore. Did... you know that Steven has managed to fuse with one of the humans here? I didn't think it was possible. He had such... unique ways of looking at it."

She stared at the screen. "Peridot... there are places we could go. We could hide and escape. The diamonds... they might come for us, eventually. But there are other worlds out there. Worlds beyond this one. Ones where we could be safe. All of us. You. Me. Steven... Pearl. We wouldn't have to worry about the Diamonds ever again. About Homeworld. We could... be safe. Truly safe." She shook just a little bit, it had nothing to do with the cold. "I've seen worlds. Worlds they'd never go to. Where they'd never think to look for us."
Peridot Peridot cast her eyes downwards with a slight frown. "We could. That is an opportunity that the multiverse affords us." Her arms crossed as she leaned her head back. "But, honestly. I've already had a taste of that life. After I poofed Jasper." The memory of that whole ordeal lingered in her head for a while before she pushed it aside.

"I went into deep hiding. Set traps, and decoys, cut off contact with everyone I knew. I went through strenuous methods to keep myself concealed. So, I can say with up most honesty that it doesn't help. I didn't feel safe. I wasn't happy. I was just alone, cold and dirty."

"And though I still maintain redundant security measures I've come to see that methodology is not viable for long-term habitation." Her arms crossed. "Besides. I'm a genius- and better yet, I'm a prepared genius! I have the plastic playing card in various holes in the ground. Tucked away for if I need them. Things I haven't even told the other crystal gems about! So long as she doesn't send the entire armada after me. I'm not afraid of the Diamonds anymore." She smirks.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli nodded and closed her eyes, resting her chin on his head. She was still for a few moments, before her voice came out softly. "Peridot can..." Her grip tightened on him slightly. For added drama, paulette was on the screen at that time, talking to pierre. It was dark, and quiet. The lights were out and they were stuck in the abandoned mine shaft.

"Can you... tell me that we'll be safe? Can you promise that... all of us will be okay? That the diamonds won't find us?" It was almost word for word what was said on the television. Except paulette said miner's ghost. It was a dumb episode. "or if they find us, they won't be able to destroy us? To destroy you or me or Steven? You're... you know about these things. You know more about Homeworld than I do now. Can you tell me this?"

She needed Peridot to say it. To promise it. All those doubts, everything that creature had told her kept echoing through her mind. All of her failures. Her mistakes. All of it. What she had brought down on this world.
Peridot Peridot lips pursed some as she thought. Could she make any kind of claim like that? She was only a Peridot, after all. If a sufficiently large enough force showed up, of course she wouldn't be able to do anything against it. Not only that, her resources were not as dense as she bragged. She did have aces up her sleeve, but the crystal gems had even less resources as a whole. Plus, Jasper was out there somewhere. Because Peridot foolishly released her.

"Of course. I tell you what, I'll even show you what I'm talking about soon. I haven't shown anyone this! Not the crystal gems, not even my best human friend, Toph. It's my little nefarious secret." She inspects her hand non-nonchalantly. "Perhaps tomorrow."

"In the meantime. I have a new weapon I need to finish. Maybe you can come help. Perhaps, you can hold my tools. Or even test it out by shooting some cans."
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli smiled and slowly that smile spread on her lips. Her grip on Peridot loosened slightly and she reached out, pausing the show. Peridot had said that. And if Peridot said it... for all her boisterousness and wildness, the little gem knew what she was talking about. While she knew little of the multiverse, comparatively, and the crystal gems, she knew plenty about Homeworld. If the defenses she had set up were believed to repel them, who was she to doubt?

She slowly stood up, holding peridot to her chest. "Very well. Shall we go?" She started heading towards the door, her wings beginning to form. "I'll fly us, just tell me where to go." A part of this was soothing, even. She still didn't know who she was, the kind of gem, person, she was. But when Peridot was around, she could just follow her orders and not think about that. Instead she could be calm and endure.

Following orders and instructions wasn't nearly as bad when you had the choice to do it. And at least it allowed her to keep her focus off of her failures.
