Yunomi Stadler     THE CITY OF RAVNICA

    IZZET SECTOR; THIRIX

The Overgrown Lab and its Singing Garden have been transferred to the spire for the protection of Nivix -- and for its denizens that live inside.

The Kodama had hidden, for the most part, retreating to the sanctuary and hiding within the foliage from investigators and the first, few angry magewrights who had come to demand answers -- the doors to the garden still had scorch marks where angry fireballs had been launched. While they had been promised protection, the little helper spirits were still some of the most timid creatures in the Izzet League, typically only coming out when they would not be noticed.

And in the last few days, there were mages, goblins, and weirds actively looking for them around Nivix -- especially the two organizers, Yu and Mi.
Rhapsody     Word had come from Ryxinel, due to being acting guildmaster in the day since Rhapsody went into seclusion. Now, however, with a single puzzle piece that needed explaining, the white dragon had marched across the span to Thirix, looking for the same kodama, to see if they could shed some light on questions.

With the Overgrown Lab and Singing Garden so close to each other, it would be far easier for Union allies, and other hopefuls, to protect the innocent life contained within. In truth, with the Thirix spire acting as home to allies, and Nivix acting to the home of the Izzet, it almost felt like one spire had hope, and one did not. Carrying that hope with her, Rhapsody walks up to the doors leading to the garden and simply knocks. She was sure it was locked. She was sure she could unlock it, but trust was more important than power, now.
Yunomi Stadler     The doors were locked, scortched, cursed at and someone had scrawled out TRAITORS DESERVE DEATH across them... popularity for the outsider had dropped to an all-time low.

However, a knothole opened, and a little green face with bright black eyes peered out, rosepetal pink 'Hair" falling into the face. Yu near ly pulled back and away, seeing just who was at the door -- but a thin, nervous voice from above Rhapsody and to the right asks:

"... is... is there something we can do for you, Guildmaster? ... have they come to take us?"
Rhapsody     After the knock, the dragon sighs at the scrawlings on the door. Likely the words were put there before being moved to Thirix. She sighs, pulls a rag of some sort from inside her coat, and starts to work to get the words off before the voice is heard.

Absolutley not. The garden and the lab are in Thirix where many of our Union allies are. You will be safe here. I simply have a question or two I want to ask, please?"
Yunomi Stadler     Yu glances down to Rhapsody, and then to the left and the right, and then retreats. The lock is undone with a loud 'WHUMP!' and the door shudders. It can now be opened, though the heavy door couldn't be pulled by any who are behind it.

Once Rhapsody passes through, the garden's usual tone of 'twilight in summer' has taken a decidedly more guarded feel. Where roses, raspberries and blackberries were blossoming there are now brambles. THe trees have begun to tinge their leaves yellow, orange and red, the grass and mosses that provide soft seating has turned dry, thistles growing.

In essence, the garden is trying to protect itself... or it is dying.
Rhapsody     Once inside, the state of the garden causes the Guildmaster to wince. Note to self, get some of the more trusted Union members to guard and possibly bring in some water. If it would help. "Thank you," she says first. She'd take a seat but, well, that may be a problem. "I assure everyone in here that can hear me, you are safe and we will make sure it -stays- that way. That being said.." the dragon kneels, waiting. "Mi, Yu, I have a very important question for both of you."
Yunomi Stadler     From beneath leaves, between foliage, and even out of the empty hole in an oak tree, faces are looking. They expected one of the dragons to come... but... not Rhapsody... not so soon, or in a peaceful manner.

And from out of the foliage Mi, her blue petals looking faded slips out, looking sickly greenish-yellow about her face. The back of her green robe is singed.

Yu appears off to the side, nervously shuffling her feet. Both of the little sprites, less than five inches in height, make their way over to the Guildmaster trepedatiously.
Rhapsody     She could understand their fear, and she also realizes what she may ask may be a little scary considering what she had with her. "Again, I am not here to harm anyone or anything here. Considering what happened, I may not be believed, and I can understand that. However, there is a piece of this puzzle that doesn't fit into .. what happened. I'm going to pull something out of my coat. It is -not- to harm anyone. I know what it is and what it can do and has done. I will just put it on the ground, alright?"

After a few moments Rhapsody produces the pin found at the Namamura Shrine and sets it down well away from the kodama. "Where this was found was tragic, but it doesn't make sense to me. None of you can use this, and if I understand correctly, Yunomi cannot use this. My question is this. Do you have -any- idea where such a thing may have come from?"
Yunomi Stadler     Yu and Mi look at one another, the healthier, greener Kodama with the pink hair giving a worried glance to the sickly one with blue, but it was neither voices who spoke up. as a voice as thin as crackling leaves in the winter said, "No, Guildmaster, she could."

Chuugi-Yo was precisely as old as all the other kodama, but acted with seniority. He steps out, a sharpened darning needle tucked in his obi as if it were a sword as he walked with a slight limp towards the guildmaster. His onyx eyes and straight lips gave him an air of gravitas.

"With the right shielding gloves, Yunomi could have used a pin like this."

He takes the needle, and taps it against the pin. "I doubt she would have used it on Kaeruhime, but to assume she /could not/ would be to discount all possibilities."
Rhapsody     While Rhapsody gives an acknowledging nod, she can't help but frown. That wasn't what she had asked. "A possiblity," is the dragon's curt response, "But that isn't what I had asked," she points out. "I am looking for other possibilities. Where this could have been made. Despite how much the Izzet League uses iron and steel, it is all processed in rather complicated ways. Cold iron such as this? As Ryxinel noticed? We do not use it here due to the number of specters and spirits that have resided within Ravnica before even the Namamura district was created. That being said, I will ask again."

"Do you know where this may have come from?"
Yunomi Stadler     Yu and Mi just keep back from the pin, Chuugi has no such fear. He keeps his gaze steadily on the Guildmaster.

"Anywhere." he replies, "Anywhere that deals in such things. Germany has monster hunters that could use it. The Americas. Other places in Ravnica that may have uses for it. Without marks of origin, and because of its anti-magical nature, finding out where it is from, or who could have used it would be difficult, Guildmaster."

He sets the large darning needles point in the ground, and he looks up at her. "However, a more pressing matter is at hand. Our creator betrayed you. We Kodama, however, are under strict orders from when we first arrived here to act in the best interest of the Izzet League, and our loyalty is to the Guild, and to Umehana Odanuki's wishes for us to remain. If we hear anything within where we are permitted to walk, Guildmaster... we will let you know... but..." he motions to Mi, whose yellowish complexion and burnt robe shows her fright and flight from something, "... we are not strong enough to do so alone."
Rhapsody     The pin is retreived and put away. The guildmaster had others to talk to, but this was a dead end, then. "Thank you for your answer," she says, but makes no move to leave. The concerns that Chuugi has are valid. "My brother had an idea regarding just that. It is very common for him to carry a number of tools with him as he moves about the spires to retreive what he needs. Especially so right now during his reconstruction project. If anyone likes, they could stay with him, travel with him, and perhaps hear things that he does not. He has been traveling between Thirix and Nivix a great deal, creating Mizzium in both the forges, but I know how his mind works. He'll be distracted by the tasks at hand rather than listening to the murmur of the guild around him. Additionally, he will occasionally travel outside the sector for parts. He goes where he wishes and there is no one that will lash out at him. If any of you need something, he can go get it. If you want to go somewhere, he can go.
Yunomi Stadler     "We'll do it!" Yu and Mi cry out at the same time, Yu gripping her fist in a triumphant 'yes!' motion, and Mi being more reserved. "We're used to being away from the garden, it'll be nice to get some different air!"

"And Ryxinel has a cool head and mild demeanor; I doubt we would be placed into considerable danger for our size. He is also very appreciative of our help." Mi adds on to her sister's excited words, and glances up to Rhapsody.

"We heard second hand what happened." she states, a little more seriously, "she tried not to talk about Kaeruhime's death, but short of speaking with other yokai, we can not tell you what the effect will be outside of the singing garden, or the Namamura district. If someone could stop in with news every once in a while, the rest of the kodama here would be appreciative. Even if we are not seen, we hear very clearly."

There's a murmur of assent amongst the leaves as the rest of the little sprites whisper amongst themselves in agreement.
Rhapsody     "I'll let him know, then. Please be paitent with him as he is coping with everything in his own way. The next time he leaves the forge he will come here to retreive you both. If you remind him to visit the garden on occasion, I'm sure he will, but he will be in the forges a great deal. Just give him a nudge if anything is needed and I'm sure he'll do what you'd like so you can stay safe." A smile is offered. "I thank you both. I assure you, I -will- figure this clue out. It is all we have, and I will not stop until I have an answer." the dragon rises, looking toward the door, then she stops to ponder, and glances back and down again, "Do you know if O-Hiko is still in the same area?"
Yunomi Stadler     "O-Hiko?" Chuugi-Yo replies thoughtfully, and he rubs at his chin.

"I can see why she might attempt to move to a different area, if there has been trouble. Spiders seem t o have a paticular affinity here in Ravnica that she, and her children, do not share. She has likely been guarding the open wound leading to the Gruul lands with jealousy."
Rhapsody     "I expect she would stay there, I was simply uncertain. If you do not know, I will simply have to go and find out myself," Rhapsody muses. "Last question, is Pidge hiding here? Or the Pheldagriff?"
Yunomi Stadler     At the mention, there is a rumble from the pond below the ancient looking tree, and Albert's ears wiggle, his nostrils open and he gives a huff of air before giving a watery bellow. His wings arc up.

And Pidge, poor little lost Pidge, is nowhere to be found.

"The last any of us saw of Pidge, he was frantically flying around Nivix. Is he lost again?"
Rhapsody     To be honest, Rhapsody had thought Albert was somewhere else. When he presents himself, the dragon wanders over to offer to the edge of the pond, produces an apple, and tosses it toward the pheldagriff. The dragon wanted to prove, beyond any doubt, that she was on their side. That done, she looks toward whom answered, "I imagine he is trying to find Yunomi. I'll see if Ryxinel can get a recall signal to him," she reaches the doors, moves them open to leave, and glances back once more, offering a smile. "Don't lose hope." And then she's gone. She had a spider to talk to.
Yunomi Stadler     CRRUUUNCH. Happy Pheldagriff eats an apple, and then happily disappears down into the water again, except his wings.

Yu and Mi look excitedly at one another, and then turn to Chuugi-Yo.

"... wait, Yunomi didn't order us to--"

"Umehana Odanuki ordered us to protect and serve Rhapsody in her absence." Chuugi replies calmly, then turns, slipping his darning needle back into his obi and stalking back towards the safety of the bushes.

"I did not lie; that means that, for now, we work for the continued protection of the League."
