Guest Oersted It's a rainy night like many others in Urbania, and the darkness of the city is countered by the blue and red flashes of police cars and fire trucks, and the gathering crowd around a particular street. Violence on the streets, amongst the many gangs, was a nuisance to the city many times, but this time there seemed to be something unusual. As the crowd approached to view the proceedings, pushing against the police barricades, they would see a messy, if not horrific scene.

Too many bodies were piled up for the average gang fight, tens of them even, and the nearby buildings were scorched and set ablaze, requiring the fire department to control and put them out. The crowd buzzed with confusion at the sight, and a bit of fear, all except one person.

It was hard to tell when Oersted made his way into the crowd. It might be he was always there. But the blonde Knight stood there, dressed in a baggy hoodie, with a look that can be best described as disappointed. His eyes were narrowed, his mouth pursed as he gave a shake of his head. He thought he had promise.

His aura would make him quite visible, even amongst the now-dissipating crowd, for those with magic, but for his physical attention, it was kept on the scene in front of him. At least for now.
Lunara You probably would never expect to see a creature like Lunara in a place like Urbania, but she is in many ways different from her shy dryad sisters. She was never the sort to hide in her forest glade without a care for what happened in the rest of the world as long as it didn't threaten home and family. She sought to learn of the world and seek out any threat and nip it in the bud, as they say. Her feelings about the Multiverse are much the same, though on a grander scale to the point where she knows she must find allies to help her face threats she could never have imagined before.

Cities were always strange to her, even those on her own world. The time she ended up in New York City by mistake when she was still learning how the warpgates worked was overwhelming. This place however made even that grand city look as quaint as the cities on her world by comparison.

Thankfully she has had time to adjust and is at least a little less terrified by Urbania now, managing to hide her fear but to anyone very in-tune with emotions. Pressing on, she wonders who, or what, she will find in this impossibly massive settlement, and can't help but wonder, why would so many people want to live so close together? Seeing a crowd starting to disperse, she watches, curious what is going on, but she keeps her distance for now.
Guest Oersted Indeed, Oersted did not expect to see a creature like Lunara in a place like that. Although his attention was taken mostly by the scene, he still gave a look over his shoulder towards the dryad. She seemed a bit familiar. Not her, in particular, though. Either way, his gaze went to her for a while. Indeed, he understood emotions perhaps a lot more than most did. But her fear was not one he was used to manipulating.

Indeed, the first thought was how not-useful she'd be for his aims. But after that was filed away, he continued looking out of curiosity. What was a creature of the forest doing in a place like this? Especially near a crime scene?
Lunara You could say that she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, you'd be correct on both accounts. As the crowd continues to disperse, Lunara finally gets a glimpse of the crime scene up ahead, and suddenly her fear breaks through her attempts to conceal it, manifesting in a wide-eyed look and a few twitches of her tail. She looks around, gaze flickering around various people among the crowd, wondering if anyone here was actually responsible for this horror. Soon her eyes fall upon Oerstead, and linger for a moment. She was tempted to just write it off as a person staring at her because of what she is, as that is one thing she has grown accustom to since Azeroth unified, but something about him and the way he was looking at her, made her hair stand on end.
Guest Oersted And indeed, he would not break the glance for a bit. But as intense as his stare always was, he did not approach. At least, not yet. Deer were skittish, and prone to jumping away, and from her first reaction, Oersted assumed so would she be. His gaze, for a second, turned back to the scene of the gang battle and gave a bit of a disgusted expression, although his face was turned away from her, then looked back towards her calmly.

"This is not the forest. Hiding will not do you any good in here." He said with a slight tinge of amusement in his tone, despite the general dark calm of his tone.
Lunara An eyebrow is raised as Lunara catches his expression as he looks back toward the scene, feeling that is not the sort of look one would give if they were responsible for it. As he turns back toward her and speaks, her deep lavender lips form into a smirk and she chuckles a little. "Well, even if it would do me any good, I don't think I could hide in this city if my life depended on it. I stand out like a single rose in the middle of a desert." She replies as she takes a few steps closer to the man so that they could continue their conversation without having to talk over the noise of the crowd as much.
Guest Oersted At that statement, Oersted gave a wry smirk. "Well, you certainly think highly of yourself." He responded. "That said." He looked to the side. "You are here to see this are you not? That's how it goes. Horrific, yet you cannot help but look." He said with a little shrug.
Lunara "Actually, the analogy works better if you imagine that the grains of sand all have eyes, like the countless people in this massive city." Lunara adds after thinking about her previous statement. "As for thinking highly of myself, do you resent me for it? It's sometimes hard not to think of yourself above more common folk when you're an ageless descendent of a goddess. My Kaldorei 'cousins' tend to have a similar viewpoint. But I am not here to see that horrific scene, I just happened to come through this part of the city and notice the crowd moving away from it."
Guest Oersted Oersted can't help but laugh at the statement about resentment. "Oh, you poor naive dear." Deer? It was hard to tell which one he said. "You'll find gods themselves are a dime a dozen in the greater world. This city is so many cities unified. Who knows how many gods, let alone godspawn, you will find walking around." He gave her a smile. "Don't get too full of yourself. It's a short path to self-destruction in the dangerous Multiverse."
Lunara Lunara nods to his warning and chuckles a bit once more. "So I've noticed, but old habits die hard. I'll be sure to do my best in keeping my ego in check, as despite the way some from my world act like they are invincible, there is a big difference between never growing old and being unkillable, and I bleed just as well as anyone. My name is Lunara by the way, I am the first of the dryads."
Guest Oersted Oersted turns his head to her. "I would say ... That there is very little a mortal can't become if the circumstances present themselves. Any random person you meet might become a great hero.. Or a terrible villain one day." He smirked and shook his head, closing his eyes. "And the Multiverse... is nothing but a vast well of circumstances. Sadly... Some of them... *flame out* before they can make anything of themselves."

He said, looking over to a particular body within the pile - what looks like it was once a human, but was now quite noticeably misshapen - demonic influence. Around him, the ground and walls were scorched, probably explaining the source of the fire.
Lunara Lunara nods in agreement with his statement about mortals becoming heroes and villains. "That is very true, I can think of several examples. But you are right, for everyone who becomes someone great, either for good or ill, many more amount to very little. But I suppose if everyone was 'great' we would just then consider that average."

She follows his gaze toward the pile of bodies and between that and his use of the words 'flame out' makes her wonder. "Do you have any idea what happened here? I get the feeling it's a lot more than just a simple fire.
Guest Oersted Oersted gave a nod back. "Quite. Put them in the right situation, and you'll see what they're worth. Most people...? Not much. But the few, the few shine like diamonds. In one way or another." He said. "And it's those who forge history." Then he looked at the body. "As I said. He wanted to make something of himself. But even with all the push he could handle, he could not makeit. Oh well."
Lunara Lunara turns back to Oersted as he further explains his theory about people. As he looks toward one of the bodies and explains that this person tried to make something of himself but got burned, literally, she gives him a bit of a shocked look. "So, you knew this man then? What was he trying to do when all this happened?"
Guest Oersted Quietly, Oersted turned his gaze towards Lunara giving a bit of a dark smile. "He thought his hatred could take him to higher levels. Beyond that of most humans. But he couldn't cut it. Few can. And those who do, make history.
Lunara Lunara frowns at Oersted's response. "Oh, I see... So he was trying to elevate himself from everyone else through deeds of hatred and darkness. I guess all too often, such things breed more enemies than allies, and if you can't handle what comes, this is the sort of result expected..."
Guest Oersted Oersted looked towards Lunara and gives an amused smile. "You'd be surprised on that. But this one could not handle it. And he paid the price. Not to heroes. Not this time. He wasn't even worth that." He added. Hands in the hoodie's pockets, he turned to Lunara, "You probably have experience fighting men such as he."
Lunara "So his hatred brought more hatered and he was taken out by others like him?" Lunara poses, wondering if that is where Oersted was going on that. "Either way yes, I surely have fought some like him over the years, though most of what I have to deal with are just those who want to exploit nature to the extent that they end up destroying the land around them so that it isn't useful to anyone."
Guest Oersted Oersted nodded a little. "Aye. I figured. I've... met, people like that before." He said with an amused smile. "Why, there was this one fellow who decided to destroy all bears because one killed his friend. Rather an odd fellow. Not really worth my time." He said, rubbing his chin pensively. "But don't be too complacent. You'd be surprised how quickly even you could become like them."
Lunara Lunara nods. "The bear was just doing what bears do. If it's hungry, or feeling threatened, it will attack, and you really don't want to be attacked by an angry bear. But how do you think I could end up like them? My kind, and our brothers the keepers of the grove, have fulfilled our task to defend the wilds for thousands of years, I'm not going to stop now."
Guest Oersted Oersted smirked as he thought on that a minute. "You would say, then, that it's what you held most dear? Well, what if you lost it then? What if you failed? What would you do then?" He responded.
Lunara Lunara pauses to think about that a moment, then finally nods with a bit of a frown, knowing he's right. "Fair point. Now that you mention it, I have heard tale of some with similar goals to mine, even on my own world, that have failed and become a shadow of their former selves, sometimes turning aggressive to everyone else around them."
Guest Oersted Oersted smirked and nodded, but otherwise remained quiet, his gaze turning to the mess, which was being cleaned up during the time.
