Sanary Rondel With all the shining crystals, colorful gems, and assorted magical rocks of all shapes and sizes dotting the landscape, it's probably not a huge surprise that the Crystal Valley is both a popular vacationing spot and a valuable research tool. It's certainly a sight to behold, although considering the nature of these stones... Would they really be useful if they lost most of their power just by moving them out of the location?

Sanary's not one to question how researchers work, though, since she's not one of them! No, she'd rather just focus on bringing samples back and letting them handle the thinking work. The healer's content to handle that sort of work, at least, poking around the outer edges of the quarry and digging loose crystals out of the dirt to shove into one of the many, MANY pockets lining her fuzzy white Lagombi armor. It's a simple cycle of dig, brush, jam in pocket.
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz hums as she wanders through the quarry. It's not the sort of place she used to know, or that her homeworld made, but the ageless, motherly figure seems quite content to wander on her own. She gives Sanary a nod as she comves into view, humming tunelessly to herself.
Sanary Rondel A rock in the pocket, a nod to a tourist. A crystal in a pouch, a wave at a honeymooner. A gem out of the sand, a glance at an incredibly tall pink-haired lady in the distance.

Something here isn't quite like the others! Sanary does a double-take as she turns back to the approaching Rose Quartz, rubbing her lone eye to make sure she's not seeing things just to make sure... Yep. That is a very tall lady. The considerably shorter girl stares at her dumbfoundedly for a few moments, but she does manage to raise her free hand in a casual wave after a few moments. "Uh... Hey there. You're... Tall."

What a smooth greeting. "Anything I can help you with?"
Rose Quartz Chuckling, the taller woman leans down. "Well hello there. I am very tall, and no, I'm just looking. I always find places like this so facinating. The Earth is so unusual and diverse, I don't think I've ever seen any place so home-like."
Sanary Rondel Sanary's eye widens just a bit more when the size difference becomes more apparent, but she regains her composure and even chuckles lightly once Rose Quartz speaks. "Aah. So you're not from around here. Welcome to this Earth, then! It's..." She gestures around them vaguely. "... Earthy! Nothing like the one I'm from, but... Well, there's stuff to see here." Another chuckle, and she holds a hand out firmly for a handshake. "Name's Sanary Rondel. Healer, captain for the Confederacy. Good to meet you~"
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz shakes her head. "I'm afraid I still don't remember much of the Union, Syndicate, or Confederacy. But I too am a Healer, and that crosses all boundaries." she says, sitting down next to Sanary and patting the ground next to her. "How are you today?"
Sanary Rondel Now /that/'s a surprise. A pleasant one, though, even as Sanary moves over to squat by Rose Quartz. She can always gather more of those stones later, anyway. "You, too? Always good to see another one around." She giggles lightly and takes her gloves off, setting them aside to give her hands some time to breathe.

"Hm... I dunno about all the time, but I guess that makes sense for joint ops, at least. Even if the Union's..." She starts, then catches herself and stops with another chuckle before looking up at the pink-haired woman. "I.. Uh. I'm doing alright. Slow day, so I've just been gathering crystals for research. Er. The researchers, I mean." Another laugh. "How about you? Just looking around for fun, or...?"
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz nods quietly. "Yes, just looking around for fun. I'm still acclimatizing to this new, mixed up, wonderful world. There are so many new creatures to discover and people to meet. It's almost overwhelming." she says, beaming.
Sanary Rondel Sanary laughs softly and nods, teetering a bit in her squat before just letting herself fall back to sit normally. "Heh... Yeah, there's a lot of stuff in the Multiverse to see. People, inventions, food... Especially food. But if you need a guide to make it easier..."

Sanary gets up, trying to make herself look just a bit taller and more impressive despite the nearly three foot height difference between them. "I could show you some stuff when I'm not working. Places to go, places to avoid. You... Uh." She pauses, a curious look crossing her face. "What do you do, anyway? Like... For work, I mean."
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz looks rather perplexed. "Work? What is... Oh! That thing humans do to earn 'money'." she says. "Well, I don't require food, though I can eat. I reside in the Crystal Temple. And I have no true needs as you humans understand it. So my 'work' is protecting the world and humanity. I do have hobbies though. Music. And gardening."
Sanary Rondel What a strange lady. Sanary just seems amused, though, laughing freely and nodding after a few moments. "I see... Hm. Well, as long as you can taste it and enjoy it. It's good to have something to do besides working and fighting, especially if you make it yourself to eat. Got some pigs back home, even." She laughs softly, then raises an eyebrow slowly when Rose Quartz mentions being a protector.

"Protecting, huh? I gotta ask you, then... Has anyone approached you about joining the Union or Syndicate?" Her tone's more serious now!
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz shrugs a little. "The Union, so far. They seem like such a nice bunch, even if they're a little overly enthusiastic. Well, children will be children." she says with a smile. "And I certainly can't blame them for being so energetic."
Sanary Rondel Sanary's eye widens slightly in surprise, and she actually looks pleased by Rose's response. "Aah... Yeah, they're nice enough on the outside. Until someone threatens to take their toys away, anyway. Or has something they want. Then... They're not so great."

She sounds just a little bitter about something as she says that, but the healer quickly breaks into an awkward smile afterwards. "Ah, sorry. Didn't mean to.. Erm. A-anyway. If you're interested in protecting people, I'd... Actually suggest joining the Confederacy. We need strong people like yourself."
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz frowns a little. "I've had a bad run-in with the Confederacy. A girl with a bat and covered in blood was trying to murder a reporter. And a girl with some ice cream was helping her. If that is the sort of person that the Confederacy allows, I'm not so sure.
Sanary Rondel Sanary winces slightly at that. She wasn't expecting to hear about that sort of occurrence, after all! "Mm... I won't lie, we've got some bad people, too. Real bad. Difference between us and the Union with theirs, though, is we don't make excuses for it. We own up to it." She takes a deep breath, then pats herself on the chest before turning to face Rose directly. "And sometimes, we have to hurt some people or even ourselves to protect even more from getting hurt if we didn't do anything."

Another pause, and then Sanary sighs. "... And some of the people we have are just really bad. But they help people like me stop worse things from happening. You understand, right?"
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz chuckles and pulls Sanary in for a smol hug. "Indeed. I can understand doing terribly things for the sake of saving countless more. I will give some thought." she says. She goes quiet then, eyes distant. To her at least, the war is all too recent...
Sanary Rondel Of all the reactions Rose Quartz could have had to that, this is probably the only one Sanary wasn't expecting! She lets out a light squeak at the hug, and is at a loss for words for several moments before settling into the hug with a relaxed sigh. "Huh? Y... Yeah. I'll understand if you don't want to join us, but... Mmrm. You seem like a nice enough lady, so..."

Sanary goes quiet as she starts to catch herself. Why's she getting so huggy with this person she's barely met? Why isn't she pulling herself away yet? "Just don't believe everything you hear from them, huh?"
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz smiles down at Sanary. "Hmmm? No, I tend to not believe everything the humans tell me. They are young, and I have several tens of thousands of years more experience than even the eldest among them. So I will consider for a while, Sanary." she says. "And you should as well. Perhaps you would consider joining the Syndicate or Union. They are, perhaps, not as bad as you have convinced yourself they are."
Sanary Rondel Right! The age difference. "Heh... Yeah, that's fine with me. I mean, I'm not even close to being that old, but that's... That's good." Sanary chuckles lightly and... She's still leaning against Rose, isn't she? Well, it's not like it's a bad position to be in. It's actually rather comforting.

Rose's suggestion catches her off guard as well, though, drawing another confused noise from the one-eyed healer. "Eh...? I... I dunno about that. The Syndicate doesn't seem that bad, but..." She trails off after that, getting a distant look in her own eye. "The Union... I dunno. I've had some bad encounters with them, too. One of theirs blew up my home."

She still hasn't let that one go. Still, she's gotta admit: This lady's good.
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz looks down at Sanary, leaning back against the rocks without any apparent discomfort. "What was it you said just a moment ago, darling? Sometimes bad things have to be done so that good things can also happen, or there-abouts? Sometimes we have to do things we don't want, to make the world a better place in the long run. Besides, I'm sure that they would have rebuilt your house if you'd asked. Do you have a place to stay now?"
Sanary Rondel Rose Quartz is /really/ good. Sanary opens her mouth to try and protest that, but she shuts up and just settles back into her lap not unlike a cat. It's not her fault this is a comfortable spot! "Erk... W-well... Even then. He's an ass."

Clearly she's got no lingering resentment there. Not one bit!

"Eeh... I already moved out a while before that even happened, anyway. Besides, it's a little crater-y there, so... It's fine." She sighs lightly, then looks back up at Rose. "You said you live in a temple, right? Does that mean you've got... Like. Followers or priests or something?"
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz leaps on that like a hawk swooping down on prey. "He? He who, dear?" she asks, taking a small comb out and running it through Sanary's hair. "And no, I don't have priests. We just call it the Crystal Temple. We inhabit the inner sanctums, only accessible by our gems. There is a great deal to be seen in that space, not all of it safe." she says, tidying up Sanary's hair a bit. "But enough about me. Who's this 'he' that you're so upset with?"
Sanary Rondel Sanary goes stock still for a moment, then settles down and practically melts at that hair combing. Just what is going on here?! At least it's comfortable. "Er... The guy that blew up my village. It's... Not important. His Master already railed on him for it, and I haven't seen the guy in ages, so..." Wait. Why's she /defending/ him now? This whole situation is making less and less sense to the girl.

Her hair's nice and manageable, though! "... The name's Archer, if you ever happen to see him around. Red coat, white hair, shoots freaking swords with a bow." She settles in just a bit more. Sanary's really getting used to this spot! "Gems, huh? That sounds kinda familiar... I think I might've met one a while ago. Peridot or something...?" A pause. "What's your name, anyway?"
Rose Quartz Chuckling, Rose thinks, before pulling out a long ribbon to tie up Sanary's hair with. "It sounds like there may have been something between the two of you. Have you thought about getting in touch with him? I'm sure he feels as bad about what happened as anyone would. There's no such thing as pure evil." then...

"Peridot? On my homeworld, Peridot's are technicians. Weak, but very skilled with machines, capable of putting together complicated devices with a minimum of time and resources. They were the primary Kindergarteners..." she says, trailing off into thought. "My name is Rose Quartz. I lead the Crystal Gems in the defense of Earth."
Sanary Rondel Sanary's really unsure of how to react at this point. On one hand, isn't letting Rose Quartz do this to her hair going against any of her own attempts to look like a tough, badass professional? On the other hand... It /does/ feel really nice, and maybe it'll look good when everything's said and done!

"Mmrm... M-maybe. His Master's already apologized, but..." She sighs quietly in defeat. "I'll... Keep my eye open if I see him again." Progress!

Sanary nods slowly when Rose speaks of Peridot... Or Peridots? "Yeah, that sounds like the one I met. Crystal Gems, you say... Well, if you ever run into trouble?" She reaches into her coat lazily, then fishes out a business card! It's a little crumpled, but still easily read. "Give me a call. Least I can do for... All of this."

She wiggles her head a little. So comfortable.
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz chuckles as she ties up Sanary's hair with that lovely ribbon. "There, you look great." she says. Sanary's usual long ponytail now has a rose-colored ribbon braided through it. "For what, dear? Sitting and talking with you? Goodness, things must be rough. I like to sit and talk with you people. It's always so refreshing to have a different perspective."
Sanary Rondel "Really? I-I mean.. Uh." Sanary clears her throat while blushing awkwardly and trying not to sound too excited, although the damage is already done. She's gotten herself all flustered over Rose's attention now! "Ehm.. Yeah. It's... It's been a while since I just talked to someone that's not really involved in all of the war stuff. Different perspectives, yeah."

She even laughs a bit after that. "Really got some stuff to think about from all this... Thanks, Miss Rose."
Rose Quartz "I was involved in a war once. Over five thousand years ago, I fought a war against my homeworld for earth. It wasn't much at first. A few sorties here and there with My Pearl. And then Garnet joined us. After that, more and more started arriving. The Sky Arena was where the first major conflict occurred... Lots of good gems were shattered there. Lots of people too."
Sanary Rondel Sanary goes quiet, a thoughtful frown crossing her face after a few moments. Once Rose Quartz finishes, she shifts upwards, then reaches around to get her arms as far around the Crystal Gem in a hug!

"Geez. That's... That's rough. Wars just... Wars just suck. Sorry to hear that." She squeezes Rose a little tighter (with possibly more strength than she might expect from someone Sanary's size), then settles back down. "But... That's why we just need to get stronger, right? The more powerful we get, the easier it'll be to stop things like that from happening."
Rose Quartz With a shake of her head, the Gematriarch smiles sadly. "Yes it did 'suck'. But it was needed. I saw a great many of my friends fall during the war. And a great many people who were once my friends. There are whole patches of the Earth that will never see life again. But it's like surgery. Some pain now so that the rest might heal. but we should speak of happier things. What world do you come from?"
Sanary Rondel "Yeah... Yeah, I guess." Sanary, chuckles again, although it's fairly apparent that the talk of wars and doing painful things to prevent worse damage is still weighing on her. "Right! Happier stuff, happier.. Stuff. Ah. My world's also an Earth. Er... I think. We never really called it Earth since the continent was just Plegia and Ylisse and... Some other places I never learned the names of. There's not a lot of stuff there compared to everything we've got out here, and... There was a lot of fighting. Bandits, mostly, because my town was too far out on the border for anyone to bother sending help to. Handled it ourselves, which... A lot of people died, but that was how it was."

She gestures at her eyepatch. " 's how I started wearing this, too. That was fun."
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz chuckles... Then lifts the eye-patch. "Would you like me to try and heal you? A pretty girl like you should be able to look at the world with both eyes for as long as can be. I can't fix everything, but I can still try."
Sanary Rondel Beneath the eyepatch is... An eyehole! There's some scarring around the lid in two opposite spots as if something was forced in there, but there's nothing actually in the hole. Sanary, meanwhile, is actually sitting fairly still, although she's looking flustered again. "P... Pretty? Uh. Wh... Erm. That'd be... Sure, if you want. I dunno if it'll work without anything in there to heal, though. And this thing..." She points at the other eye. "... Isn't even the original, either. Actually got some.. Er. Work done to replace it with this thing. Helps with magic use, though, so that's been pretty useful."
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz nods and draws her hands over her eyes. When they fall, her eyes are weeping a crystal clear fluid. Like tears, only much... Different? A little different at least. It's easy to tell that the lacrimal essence is something more than mere salt water. The tears flow down her fingers and she wipes them around Sanary's eye-hole. "At least I can help with the scarring." she says.
Sanary Rondel "... Uh. Rose? Y-you okay?" Sanary's sounding rather uncertain as she watches Rose tearing up, trying not to move too much as that substance is wiped around her eyehole. "But you're.. Uh. A-alright." Still sitting there obediently, she does notice a subtle change. Although the space where the eye had once been years ago is still empty, the discoloration from the scarring is starting to fade!

"Is it.. Er. Did it work?" Not that she can see it herself, of course. Not until she gets a remote eye matrix on this thing.
Rose Quartz Rose Quartz smiles as she slips the patch back on. "It's healing. It'll take a day or two, but the scarring should heal over before too long. It will never completely go away, but I just put a few decades of healing in there. Now! Why don't we go get something to eat? I've heard good things about this 'Mexican' food."
Sanary Rondel Sanary's still staring at Rose Quartz somewhat dumbfoundedly even as she takes it all at face value. She snaps out of that daze at the mention of food, however, and a broad grin appears on the younger healer's face. "Sounds good! I know this one place that's not too far from here.... My treat~"
