Yari Takane Even Elites get time off, and today Yari is spending it in her quarters on the Citadel. For a highly paid assassin, it's a very humble thing: just a few rooms, no bigger than an apartment, an extra room for Linh. All the appliances are state of the art, however, and it's decorated with various Doman and Garlean touches to remind of home. There's several pictures of friends and loves, Lute and Sanary amongst them.

Yari's in a light blue kimono, and chocobo slippers. Her daughter's dressed much the same, and they're both near the tv. Controllers are mashed! On screen, it's a rousing round of the latest KillFighter: Ultraviolence Edition.

VICTORY!

Yari slumps. "...You have trained well my student. Trained well." Linh giggles, and hugs her mom tight.
Garen     Garen somehow managed to slip into the citadel as his usual self tends to do. He overheard the giggles and opted to check in on what was going on. As he pokes his head in, he spots Yari and Linh. "Hello, Yari. How are you doing?" He asks curiously. Though he just noticed her daughter and offered a smile. "Hello there, little one."
Yari Takane Visitors! Linh turns, looks Garen over curiously, and then offers a bow almost in time with her mother.

"Mister Nine. What a pleasure. Come in, please."

Linh smiles, a little shy, but not put off by the man at all.

"Hello! Mom, I'll get tea."

Reeeach. Yari gives the girl a pat on the head as she goes off to make tea!

Yari can't help but laugh. "She's such a good girl. I'm...better." Notably, Yari has her right arm back that was supposedly severed, and a prosthesis for the other. The eye is still wrapped up though.

"And planning on how I'm going to show my enemies why they don't humiliate a member of the Confederacy. How are you?" She's already pulling out an extra chair. Garen's free to steal the couch, too.
Garen     Garen smiles and takes a seat. "I'm well, all things considered. Though I recall hearing you were more wounded then you are." He says. He then ponders a moment on what Yari said. "I'll gladly assist you. I still owe you alot." Then, he chuckles lightly. "The idea of you as a mother is still so strange. How did you wind up taking in your child?" He asks, careful with his word choice.
Yari Takane Yari's eyes closes, and she smiles fondly. "I was wounded very badly. But Mister Taro and Miss Medusa, well..." The ninja flexes both arms.

"They're amazing. I'd call them geniuses, even. But then again, I suppose I'm biased."

A slow nod. "Well, my first target is the Fleet Daughters. I want to hurt their base. Publicly. I want every member of the Fleet, and especially the Admiral, that I was the one who did it."

As for Linh, Yari leans back in her own chair, a small frown on her face.

"It was on a mission. Deserters from the regular forces decided to take over a village. I was tasked with finishing them off. I got the mission done, and as I was leaving, I heard a young girl calling for help. The building was on fire and collapsing. I..."

A shrug. "Well, I'm not yet so cold that I could let a young girl die to a bunch of scum in a burning building. Her parents were already dead, and I know what it's like to go through that, so, I took her in. It's been the best decision I've ever made."
Garen     Garen nods softly. "I see. A noble thing. Honestly, I'm not sure if I would have made the same decision." He admits. Though at the arms, he does marvel a bit at them. "Indeed they are. I knew Taro was quite a genius, but to see what Medusa is capable of...I know if I get injured, I am in good hands." He admits. He leans back a moment, quietly thinking. "The Fleet Maidens...what info do we have on them? Family, or anything we can exploit?"
Yari Takane A shrug. "It was the only thing I could do. I was lucky, just like her. I owe it to my own mother."

To business! "They're the reincarnations of lost ships from a war. Ghosts, effectively, the polar opposite of Abyssals like Miss Wo. ...Really, you could consider an Abyssal to be a Fleet Daughter. Supposedly, when you attack them emotionally and bring them down, they 'sink', becoming an Abyssal. I've yet to see it myself, though."

"So outright killing them isn't preferable. We want to attack them mentally first. Sew fear, terror, dissonance. They have a highly defended base of operations, Hikari Seaport. We'd probably need a diversion, and a large scale one, to even attempt getting in. Still. If we can strike at their heart, visibly, they'll know they're not safe even at home. And it will be that much easier to turn them to our side."
Garen     "True...I can try to prepare an infiltration point a few days prior. Maybe try to pull out some more information about them." Garen says, thinking. He quickly pulls out a datapad and starts typing onto it. He was accessing all known information on Hikari Seaport. "As for a diversion...What would they consider valuable enough to defend en masse? Maybe a supply depot, or what about a convoy?"
Yari Takane Yari taps her chin thoughtfully, tail swaying.

"That's a good idea. And we'll need some backup exit strategies. They're very, very strong, and I don't want to be caught when they realize what's going on."

Hmm. "Bauxite. It's a rare type of metal that's used to repair them. If we target a large enough storehouse or convoy with enough force, that might be the best shot we have. But we should consult with Wo. She's an expert."

By now Linh comes back in! She has a tray, sets it on a side table, and pours tea. First, one for the guest. A pause, a bow. Then, her mom. Yari sneaks in a smooch on the forehead. Her smile here is radiant, and absolutely /motherly/. There's true joy in her gaze.

Yari sips the tea slowly. "Thank you Linh."

It's Linh's turn to pipe up. "What are you two doing?" A big, big frown. "Are you going after the meanies that hurt mom?" Scowl! Stamp stamp foot. Ah, childish anger.
Garen     Garen smiles softly and nods towards Linh. "I am, yes. We were just planning on how to go after them." He says, then nods towards to Yari. "That's a good idea, but Wo would know the most. If she is willing to assist us in the matter. We should also do some damage to the port itself. That way no matter the outcome, we deliver a bit of hurt to them."
Yari Takane Both of Linh's arms pump in the air! "Nnn! Go! Goooo mom! Gooo Mister Nine! I believe in you two! You! Can! Do it!"

Yari looks like she's somewhere between dying of laughter, and utterly touched.

"She'll probably do it. I've helped her out a few times before. It's why they came after me in the first place. It's a plan she'll like, I think. Well. If she likes anything."
Garen     "It is hard to tell, yes." Garen admits. But then Linh gets the agent to laugh a bit at her proclimation. "Much appreciated, Linh. But I can promise you that they will never hurt your mom again."
Yari Takane Linh sits down, satisfied.

"Good! Then Mom can retire."

Yari sighs a little bit at that. The two share a hard gaze at each other. A long, tense battle of will. Linh flinches first, but it's clear this little girl is far bravery than most. Possibly Elite level, even.

"Twenty five points." Yari quips, and then Linh's smiling again.

"What about you, Sir? Anything I can assist you with?"
Garen     Garen shakes his head. "No. Operations in the Empire have slowed to a crawl, honestly. Keeper seems convinced that the republic is up to something. Yet all my contacts report that to not be the case." He says, a bit unsure. "I admit...I've not had a long stretch of quiet like this. I don't really know what to do with myself."
Yari Takane Yari closes her eye. "Well, I've had my...distractions." She waves fondly in Linh direction.

"But I've had good luck in finding, hobbies shall we say. Hunting down criminals for fun. Taking odd jobs, hunting monsters, working on my poisons. Going out with Sanary and my other friends."

Lean in, a pat on the shoulder. "Mister Garen. I think we need to find you a hobby, and some drinking friends." This is the start to a deep, deep, frightening rabbit hole.
Garen     "That may be a good idea, yes. Or at least something to keep me from becoming buried under the paperwork that supports me. Keeper is continously trying to get me to fill out requisition orders." Garen admits, sighing. He does offer a smile to Yari. "Maybe a pet or companion may help as well." He says, a hint of optimism in his voice.
Yari Takane There's a devious grin. The ninja's gaze spells /mischief/.

"That decides it then. Mister Garen. I am taking you out to a party soon. And we are going to get you a pet worthy of you."

Linh looks to Garen. "...You're doomed, Sir!" How helpful, Linh!
Garen     Garen laughs softly. "Shall I begin writing my testament?" He asks jokingly towards Linh."
Yari Takane Linh slowly, slowly nods.

"Yup! Mommy's good at making people need to do that."

Yari just has her head in her hands right now. Help. SAve her from her glorious daughter.
