Wo Just because missions happen away from a target area, doesn't mean they aren't of importance. Many things in history happen when noone is looking, and they have an impact far beyond their seemingly narrow scope. In a bygone age, the Imperial Japanese Navy made use of any ship that could feasibly carry loads, and quickly, as part of their infamous Rat Transports. While the multiverse offers many ways to move freight around to where it is needed, few would have the security and certainty of delivering it via your own means, even if that does mean loading light ships down with the much-bemoaned drum canisters. At least the weather is clear, wisps of clouds wafting across an orange and gold sky, near enough to sun set to be inconspicuous, but not yet enough to offer a cloak to the dangers of the deep.

There was more to this than merely setting things up for the heavy guns and Elites that would be joining them, however. Intelligence, and some scenario projections, had suggested that the conventional Abyssal fleet were likely to use this sea way as a means to gather their reinforcements. This afforded an opportunity, amidst the scattered islets -- little more than rocks jutting from the deep, in most of it: While a fleet weighed down and less-equipped might not inflict heavy damages upon such a group, they could at least slow them down, and stop them from reaching their destination in a timely manner. And, of course, yet another objective, is on offer. The location that was scratched into the bottom of that 203mm 'Country of Pasta' cannon should also be among these. It's quite an advantageous coincidence. Or was it?

Regardless, for now, the sea and islands are peaceful. If there are any other ships in the area, they aren't visible on radar, or by eye. Sonar is also clear, besides hits that are easily dispelled as schools of fish, from the distinctly non-submarine motions they exhibit.
Shigure     Shigure and Nowaki are here. The latter is decked out in her Ocean Fit-out, letting the others take a much needed break while she steams on along the course. Nowaki isn't a huge ship, at just shy of 2,500 long tons displacement, 118.5m(388ft9in) long, with a 10.8m(35ft5in) beam and a 3.8m(12ft6in) draft, she's still fairly impressive to those unaccustomed to the sheer scale of ship.

Shigure stands at the front of the foredeck, leaning on the guardrail at the bow. Her land-fitout sits on her frame, with a pair of drum canisters where her torpedo tubes would normally sit, on her thighs. "Nowaki? Bring us about five degrees starboard... My long range search radar is picking up nothing so far." she says, dropping her chin onto her folded arms.
Nagato     This is one of their days... Nagato commanding a fleet of alternate ships to head out and scout the area along with bringing back supplies that were stated to be in the area. Akitsumaru's here as the Flagship of this little expedition along with Furutaka and Kako, grins upon their faces as they set up a mock diamond formation around Akitsumaru. "Sirs, please ready yourselves with diamond formation, sirs. I want all radars to be on the look out for anything suspicious sirs." comes Akitsumaru's polite voice and even politer demeanor.

"Furutaka, Kako, Nowaki, Shigure, Kotone. THank you for coming for the Admiral's orders, sirs. Let's do our best here so that the main fleet can have some respite, sirs." she gives a brief smile to everyone around, the pale face and grey jacket does make Akitsumaru stand out, not to mention the daihatsu she carries behind her. Hearing the radar information from Shigure makes the Amphibious Assault Craft look slightly at ease.

"Everyone, keep your eyes peeled, sirs!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa seeing Nowaki in her Ocean fit-out was a sight to behold. She knew they could change forms from the ships theyd been originally to a human form known as Land Fit-out. Still? It was always a sight to see it even now, to her. She had had the sense to launch some scout planes a little while ago but they'd yet to return nothing hopefully it would be of us, right? She kept near Nowaki as she skated along across the waves.

"It's not a problem, I have a pair of scout planes up hopefully they will prove useful."

She's also keeping her eyes and other senses alert as who knows what could be lurking here. I'm honestly happy to help when I'm able to, Ma'me!"

She was in good spirits but she was clearly alert as well as she kept moving across the waves. She didn't want to let Akitsumaru or anyone else here down. Nagato had trusted her and she didn't want to break the Admiral's trust or anyone else's here.
Graf Zeppelin Kasumi and Naka are here as well, conveniently standing upon Nowaki's deck. What? If they don't have to spent the energy moving, then why do it? Kasumi peers out across the ocean with a pair of binoculars, quiet and focused. Naka meanwhile just bounces around the former, humming a happy little tune.

...Wait, she's practicing her dance routines. Crap. Damn it Naka, focus on the operation at hand! ....Eh, she'd be fine. Probably. Kasumi was far too busy to scold her partner however. "......." All she could do was recall the last mission they went out on with Graf Zeppelin.

She wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
Wo Everything is serene. That would tend to make it even more unsettling, to the paranoid. Yet, the world has many hidden dangers, in those margins of error. Nor are these islands and crags completely uninhabited. The sounds of nearby turbines awakens a population of PT Imps, that had been stationed to guard the waters here. Their tiny, practically non-existant radar profiles would be bad enough, if they weren't hidden by the relatively large land masses' own hits. "Iii?" Squirming and contorting out of spaces that should, by all rights, be far too small for them to have fit into, they nonetheless wander out and sight the approaching convoy. "Eeek!" "Eeegh!" They've come for their prize! But they won't let them have it!

Soon, those faintest of pings would resolve into a group of at least a dozen imps. Small water craft, in a humanoid format, it's easier to get a good look compared to last time, when it was a mere glimpse, and not enough time for a proper photograph. They appear to be no more than infants, with some cobbled on armor and support equipment, each one having a horned helmet fully enclosing their head. At either side of their chubby bodies, a single torpedo launcher. With stubby legs that end in what can only barely be called feet, they scamper across the water with surprising speed, laughing like children at play, their giggling echoing faintly like all Abyssal speech seems to.

Whether it looks cute or just plain creepy, or creepy-cute, that's up to the eye of the beholder.
Shigure     Shigure suddenly stiffens, as she starts getting radar returns from the Imps. "Incoming! Count... 6... no 8... wait, 12 incoming signals, closing fast." Her tone is soft as always, but holds a subtle hint of urgency. "Approaching from bearing 0-2-5 off current heading. Should be in visual range momentarily."

Nowaki remains largely silent, but when Shigure raises the alarm, she sounds her siren, the blasting honk echoing across the water, alerting her allies that trouble is afoot.
Kotone Yamakawa Things are serene, and that's almost worrisome in and of it self. After all the oceans and seas of the multiverse do hide much. That is shattered in short order s Shigure gives warning about the contacts. Kotone shifts her attention to bearing that they are coming from as well. Nowaki's siren goes off and as that happen she draws another arrow from her quiver, takes a moment and then fires off another scout plane. She'll see if she can get a good look the incoming contacts.

Kotone is not ready for what she gets fed back to her.

Infants? Monstrous infants clad in kit for combat is what Kotone gets back and they are clearly small and fast. This was going to be ugly, while lightly armed? They were fast and she knew what small fast units could do to far larger ones. Rather than deploy torpedo or dive bombers? Kotone makes a call to start launching fighters in the hope their strafing runs can tie these small fast units up, or at least keep up with them.

"What are these things? Some kind of light vessels?"

She tries to pick up speed skating across the waves, she does not want to let them one, hem herself in. Or corner her allies, hopefully she might be able to draw some fire as well.
Nagato     Akitsumaru, unfortunately, isn't equipped with anything /but/ her Daihatsu's. She's not even in Stealth Fighter Carrier... just Daihatsus. The noise of the Imp's laugh sends shivers down Akitsumaru's spine and when Shigure speaks up, she gives a brief nod. "Sirs, prepare for combat. We're not sure how best to deal with them. Be careful, sirs." she ponders a few things. Kako and Furutaka smirk at this and ready up their guns. Akitsumaru looks back, "Light Carrier Yamakawa, do you have Dive Bombers equipped, sir?"

Furutaka and Kako smirk even more, looking towards Nowaki, Shigure, Kasumi and Naka. "Alright you four, let's get this going. Shigure, take point." comes Kako's orders, with Furutaka coming around, "Double line formation, we need the accuracy. Akitsumaru and Yamakawa, keep at the rear and back everyone up." the sound of guns loading on the two heavy cruisers, "Furutaka, let's do this!"
Graf Zeppelin Kasumi narrows her eyes and lowers her binoculars once Shigure gets several hits on radar, and Nowaki sounds the sirens. "...Naka, watch my back." She says firmly. ...And then she goes and HOPS RIGHT OVER NOWAKI'S DECK. "Eh? Hey, Kacchin wait! Don't just-!"

     SPLOOSH.

The grey haired girl lands atop the water's surface in land fit-out, glaring straight ahead. "...I won't be made a fool of again!" She shouted, speeding off ahead and joining Kotone. Naka blinks, looks at Shigure, and then Kako, then down at Kasumi. "Ahhh! Alright! Let's go!" Rather than grouse, she just smiled and LEAPT after Kasumi. Landing onto the water's surface with a rather susupicious amount of grace and poise for someone who just dances and sings all day.

Naka followed right after in land fit-out, forming up with the back line. "Okay, good luck everyone! I love you~!" Naka please.
Wo Light is definitely an understatement. If they were able to assume an ocean fit form, they would be little more than well-armed motor boats. Now that these 'devil boats' have assumed a humanoid form, it only makes a twisted sense that they'd be barely more than evil death babies. However, true to their real life counterpart, they are quite lightly armored, where they are at all. Being strafed by fighters causes them to collectively shriek and take evasive action, a few impact marks scarring the helmets and bodies of two of them, before they leak that black, congealed oil that is so familiar of the Abyssal kind. It doesn't stop them, however -- not completely. They instead are angling and swirving toward the fleet's formation, instead of taking the direct approach they had been. Any with a knowledge of PT boats knows their take on strategy -- they want to close in to 'beneath' effective range of any guns, quickly, and loose those torpedoes.

And release, they do. As the rest of the fleet readies to respond to the threat they pose, they begin to spread out a little more, in a vague rendition of a line abreast. They have no heavy guns to have to swing around and account for, so it doesn't affect them directly. Each one gives an echoing giggle, as each torpedo tube pops open with a light hiss and releases a sleek, black metallic projectile into the water. 'Come play with us, big sisters,' they might say, if they were capable of actual words, instead of that creepy child laughter. With that kind of nature, they probably aren't expecting how devoted this fleet they've encountered is to the task. Especially that grey sidepony girl.

With all their torpedoes effectively used up, they suddenly make sharp turns and begin moving in slightly more random directions, but making a sort of sweeping, harassing motion as a whole. It's not nearly as dangerous as the torpedoes, but when one is given the chance, they'll hinge open the 'jaws' of their helmets and fire with a small (for ship-to-ship warfare standards) caliber machine gun. "Eeee!" "Kyahaha~!" Ugh, get rid of them quickly, or that laugh could be in your nightmares for a week.
Shigure     Shigure doesn't need to be asked twice. She follows Kasumi's leap, hooking her legs up over the siderail and throwing herself overboard into the water, She's kept her main battery, thankfully, and as she pulls the cannon tonfa around, she gets a PING on her sonar. "Fish in the water! Evade!" she calls, urgency in her voice... though her volume doesn't raise at all. It does carry well enough, as she aims into the paths of some of those torpedoes, firing to try and make them detonate prematurely.

Nowaki's frame is engulfed in an off-white light, as the full frame of the ship dissolves away, leaving the stoic, silver-haired girl to skate along, forming up beside Shigure as the double line formation closes up. She opens fire with her own purse-cannon, trying to clear the torpedoes as well. "Take evasive action... these things are not worth our effort to destroy, but they will be a nuisance." comes the sharp voice of the Kagerou-class girl. With her words, she also turns her guns onto the imps, trying to predict their movements to nail them with 12.7cm shells.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa replies to Akitsumaru. "I do, I'll deploy them."

Kotone is realizing she's made some mistakes and if she survives the engagement she's going to have to do something about it. However self recrimination will have to wait for later as there's a fight on and she's got to focus on that. With orders coming in? Kotone is going to follow them She'll form up at the rear to back the rest of her allies up. She's also in the process of launching dive bombers now, and issuing orders to them to go after the small boats like she did the fighters before them. She takes note of Kasumi as she joins up and heads on ahead of them.

The fighters and dive bombers will start their attack runs. The laughs of the PT Imps however is something Kotone will not be able to forget short of trying to fry some of her own memory. It will be burned into her mind for a very long time. Shigure gives a warning about the fish in the water which refers to the tropedos and Kotone starts going on the evasive. Which halts the launching of any other fighters or bombers for the moments, the ones she has in the air will have to do.
Graf Zeppelin      "Tch-!" Kasumi hissed, taking evasive manuevers as she veered across the water to avoid getting summarily blown up. Not this time! Not this time. Definitely not this time. "Naka, provide cover fire! I'm going in!" The destroyer gave her order to the light cruiser behind her before angling her turrents. "These creepy things should just sink...!" Blam blam blam!

     Someone was angry.

Naka meanwhile gave a cheerful salute. "Aye aye, Kacchin! Just leave it all to me~!" And with a wink, she strafed through the water, angling her torpedo tubes forward. "Hmm....what's a good saying for right now?" She actually paused in the middle of evasive movements to consider this. "...Ah! I know!" And she posed fabulously. "In the name of the sea, I will punish you!" THUNK THUNK THUNK! Several torpedos were fired out into the water, aiming for several imps at once.
Wo The good thing is that it was not yet the night time, or the imps would have been practically invisible right until the moment they struck. Catching them at this time was fortuitous, and their torpedoes aren't quite the death rockets that the fleet daughters possess. While it is certainly good not to underestimate such an opponent (a quick glance at history would reveal several of the IJN's number felled by these tin cans), the fact of the matter is that it was not their most advantageous time to strike, and now the Imps are going to pay the price for lacking anything resembling knowledge of strategy, or common sense. As a result, the torpedoes are easy to see coming, or to shoot, for that matter. Several are detonated relatively harmlessly, if perhaps uncomfortably close to the formation.

Kotone's dive bombs find purchase where mere machine gun fire did not. Oddly, while the Imps are able to easily avoid the bombs themselves, their light build is still enough to be toppled and even damaged even by near misses. Two of them succumb; one is capsized, stubby legs wiggling almost comedically upright, before submerging. The other is blown almost apart, one side sheared off, and slumping lifelessly into the water.

While the 12.7 cm shells from the contingent of destroyers are quite different in their dynamics from bombs dropped via air craft, the physics of the plunging fire isn't vastly different for the Imps, once it is them being targetted. Even when they do their best to avoid it, they can only do so much about the bracketing and shot training of the vastly more stable gunnery platforms their larger sisters possess. As with the bombs, even near misses seem to have disastrous effects on them. One of Shigure's shells lands right into the middle of a group of three of them, causing two to be bowled over, and the third to sustain heavy injuries, the outer shell cracked and pitted badly. Nowaki finishes that one off, and yet another, its body being swallowed up by the resulting wave swell, before it is swept against one of the jagged rocks.

Kasumi is angry, and angry works quite well in cases like this. "Eee!!" A PT Imp had actually just opened its helmet mouth to spray some hot lead her way, when an incoming shell shuts it up quite good. Or rather, completely messes up its head, causing it to flop over and quickly submerge, bubbling up more oil. Naka's torpedoes are seemingly no problem for these pint-sized terrors, and they even have a good laugh about it -- until by chance, one of the torpedoes strikes one of their friends that had been dead in the water, and the explosion is enough to topple two more of them that were too close to the resulting explosion. By now, the other PT Imps are in a panic, and are quickly scrambling away. Whether they are sunken or not, that's a matter of time and effort, isn't it?

The action had kicked up a surprising amount of smoke and debris from some of the burning wreckage of the PT Imps. With it growing slowly darker, however, there is something else out there. Something with two luminous eyes. The faint shadow of a girl, that like the imps had been sheltering against a nearby island, until the encounter had forced them all closer. She has a ponytail on the side of her head, though far longer than Kasumi's, and on the opposite side; at least that much can be seen. Not to mention a bulbous hat upon her head. She remains there a few moments longer, perhaps in the dwindling hope that she had not been seen, before she begins drifting off, into the twilight.
Shigure     Shigure grits her teeth, and jettisons her drum canisters for Akitsumaru to pick up, before powering off into the gathering dusk. She will protect this convoy from those imps, should they get their courage back and manage to rearm those torpedoes before dawn... but that's when she spots those glowing eyes peeking out from behind a rock. A shock runs down her spin as something triggers her recognition, and she turns from the pursuit... those imps will likely just flee until they run out of fuel anyway. Short ranged craft as they are. "Harusame-chan...?" she asks, voice carrying across the waves as she herself disappears from the sight of the convoy... oh dear.

Nowaki keeps watch, then frowns a bit as she can't seem to pick Shigure out of the gathering smoke. "Shigure...?" she calls, turning one way then another, before spotting the discarded drum canisters."
Nagato     "Let them escape. We need to press on, sirs." comes Akitsumaru's voice. Furutaka and Kako had a hard time hitting them, those big guns and their recoil. The two heavy cruisers frown a bit, and even more when they are told to ignore night battle. "Well, at least Sendai isn't here. She would be all 'Yasen yasen yasen yasen'." comes Furutaka, with Kako laughing. "Yea, she'd do something like that... I mea.."

"SIRS! FORMATION NOW!" Akitsumaru's voice raises and it surprises the two heavy cruisers, the normally reserved woman has an annoyed look upon her face. "We are down one destroyer... we need to make sure we complete the mission, sirs." she takes a small breath and turns around. "Yamakawa, scout planes for a moment. Nowaki, recover the canisters and fall back in line, I have space for them, sir."

Sailing forward, she looks towards Kasumi and Naka, "Take point, sirs. Double line formation. Naka and Kasumi front, Nowaki and I in the middile, Furutaka and Kako in the rear."

    "UNDERSTOOD!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa tries to not think about what just happened with the PT Imps, she doesn't like to think about it given the forms they have taken. Still she knows likely what they are and it had to be done. Still it doesn't change the fact is that laugh? Combined with how they look will likely haunt her dreams for the foreseeable future. With no more attackers for the moment she takes a short breather but that doesn't last long as it dawns on her where is Shigure? Where did she go?

Akirsumaru orders the deployment of scout planes to search the area, and that's what she gets. In succession four arrows and drawn and launched. Soon the planes are out scouting to look for their missing comrade.irsumaru orders the deployment of scout planes to search the area, and that's what she gets. In succession four arrows and drawn and launched. Soon the planes are out scouting to look for their missing comrade.

She then gets back into formation and orders her planes that are in the air already and not scouting to fall into formation.
Graf Zeppelin      "Hmph..." Kasumi lowers her turrets as the remaining imps scurry away. Naka meanwhile just has a puffed up look on her face. "They laughed at me! Kacchin, you saw right? They were laughing!" Shee shook Kasumi's shoulder, pointing off in the direction it happened in.

"Settle down, Naka." The destroyer grumbles, finally feeling a bit calmer after her initial outburst. Whew, that felt nice, but...it was unbecoming! Remain calm. Be rational. Yes. Okay. Akitsumaru is given a look and a nod. "Understood." She responded, pulling Naka by the arm to come with her to take point as asked.

"Shigure will be fine. We can find her once we complete the mission." The girl with the side tail spoke evenly. Naka just looked back with a hint of worry, but then nodded, putting on a smile. "Okay! Then let's believe in Shigure-tan and complete our jobs! Leeeeeet's goooo!" Fwoosh, she skated forward, leading the way with Kasumi ever onwards towards their designated coordinates.
Wo The night is falling at both the perfect, and least ideal, time. For one, it's the perfect time to offload and drop anchor, without being easily seen from a distance for much the same reasons the PT Imps were sheltering in and around this shoal. Ocean fit outs might not find enough draft here, but land fit outs are perfect! Most of the land that's above water is not much more than a dune of sand or a jutting of rock, but a few of them are a bit larger, and it seems likely those are where the imps had come from. It's probably not a good idea to try to navigate too deeply in, in the dark, though. Radar isn't perfect.

The least ideal part comes in that it makes scouting from the air a bit less fruitful than it might otherwise be. Shigure must have seen something to simply leave like that, right? But what could it have been? Whatever it was, it has left no trace of it having been there, nearest to the places where either was last seen. With each passing moment, the optimal search cone widens. At this rate, it might have to wait until dawn to break for a more reasonable attempt...but it only costs fuel to at least try, right? Plus, keeping an eye out for that possible Abyssal fleet passing by, to either intercept it, or at least report its composition.

Regardless, the target coordinates are upon one of those larger islands. The odd thing about it is that it seems to be inhabited, or...at least, has some relatively organized cargo crates piled up on it, as well as some hanging cage lamps, being powered by a noisy generator. There are more Imps here, but when they hear the sounds of ship turbines over the sputtering of their power source, they remember what happened to the others, and immediately begin to scatter, squeaking between each other. They're abandoning what looks like a shallow cave directly behind it, as well.

The crates contain supplies, mostly bauxite and ammunition, though a few drums of fuel oil can also be found. The sounds of a child of around Destroyer apparent age singing -- that is, a real kid, not an evil death baby -- can be heard coming from inside the cave, apparently oblivious to any goings on outside. There is a trace of an Italian accent to it, as well, though the lyrics are hard to hear from outside. Sounds like something you might hear at any school yard.
Nagato     Akitsumaru hmms softly, the target coordinates's coming into view. "Sirs, be careful. I want all ships to be ready to evacuate all we can from this location. My daihatsu's are ready for loading." It's here that a small squad of fairies with construction equipment start pouring out of the Daihatsu and army marching towards the machines to construct something... it looks like they're working on fixing up the area. The fairies doing this are probably quite adorable too.

Furutaka and Kako close their eyes, moving to guard the fleet as they work on clearing the area. "Radar setup. Furutaka and Kako going on a small perimeter patrol."
Kotone Yamakawa Things go night, Kotone knows night fighting even for modern ships on her world is not a plesent or a looked for thing if it can often be helped. She switches her eyes ot night vision that helps a bit for the moment. Kotone recalls her bombers and fighters leaving only the scouts up in the air for the moment while she tries to find Shigure but she's got no wher eto be found. She grimaces as it but will keep up the search for a bit longer.

"Nothing on Shigure yet, but at this rate I'll not be able to dind much until Dawn I'm afraid."
Graf Zeppelin Coming in to the island, Kasumi and Naka touched onto land first, looking left and right. "Hmm..." The destroyer frowned at the state of the area. ...Ah, there went the fairies. So cute. She couldn't help by smile despite the mission. Kasumi shakes her head and moves on to help collect materials for loading.

Naka meanwhile hears...singing? It wasn't her this time, promise! "I think I hear someone!" She stated quickly, craning her head with a hand cupped around her ear. "Mmmmn....I definitely hear someone!" Smiling wide, she rolled up her nonexistent sleeves and marched right on into the cave. "Naka's going in!" And so she does. "Heeeeeey! Whoever's in there c'mon out! We won't bite! It's okay, Akechin's not here!"
Wo This island would actually make a pretty decent staging area, all things considered. While it isn't going to be for the main thrust of the operation, it can be a key operating facility, if purposed as such. The fairies would find the machinery to be in working order, though a bit worn down and in need of maintenance, which is something PT Imps aren't good at. (They'd more likely break it if they tried.) The existing cage lights make it easy to see an move things around for them, as well. At least the Imps, or whomever they worked for, left the place in easily accessible shape. Yet, as Akitsumaru had subtly noted, it's probably best to work quickly to secure things. There's no telling when that Abyssal fleet might roll through, or what kind of strength they might bring with them.

Naka is the one that proves that her curiosity, and love of music, can't be stopped by something like caution or risk of death. Amateurish though it may be, it is quite a nice singing voice! When she actually enters, she would be greeted by a most curious scene, and perhaps one straight out of one of her daydreams. It's a tanned girl, quite young, in a light dress, singing a kind of school rhyme song (in Italian, but translation effect and all). She isn't doing it only for her own benefit, either; there are more PT Imps here, but they seem to be bobbing back and forth on their stubby legs in rhythm to her singing. Upon noticing Naka, she stops singing, and gives a broad smile, "Oh! Someone's here!" The Imps that had been seemingly hypnotized, and tamed, by the song suddenly all turn to stare. Or, well, presumably they do; some of them don't have visible eyes on their helmets.

And then they scramble to get away. "Oh no," the girl calls after them, "Come back! Libeccio will sing for you some more!" Once she realizes they won't be coming back, she turns back to Naka with a sigh, but quickly forgives her for scaring her 'friends' away. And the full extent of her situation becomes clear, since she's locked up in a roughly put together prison cell in the middle of the cave. She seemed to be making the best of it, though! "Grazie! Are you here to rescue me? Sister Zara promised me that someone would before they took her away." There's a tinge of sadness, after that, even though she doesn't stop smiling.

"We should get out of here, though. Velocemente! My friends were telling me they saw some really scary things pass by recently." Did she actually understand those squeakings and eekings? Maybe she's making it up.

Kako and Furutaka, out on a patrol route around the island, would actually be the first to see it, on radar, but with how large and ominous it soon becomes, it won't escape the notice of the others for long. Several large returns, moving and definitely *not* other islands, suddenly appear on the edge of detection. Sets of glowing eyes in the distance confirm the suspicion. It's two distinct groups, each headed by two battleships; one a pure surface fleet further backed by Ri-class elites, the other a more carrier-focused one, with an elite Wo-class and flagship Nu-class. Appearing later, the usual gaggle of destroyer escorts also finally comes into view.

    Work quickly, fairies!
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa can see that the island might be of use if it's fixed up which shouldn't be impossible but there is the issue of the Abyssal who knows when and how many might show up? She's been waiting on watch , and trying to see what her planes could get if anything. It was getting to the point her scout planes should be recalled. That's when the warning comes out that there's two fleets of Abyssals and ones a Carrier fleet. As far as air support goes? Kotone knows she's the bulk of it, she takes deep breath.

She was not going to run from this she got herself ready recalled the scout planes, it was time to get ready for what they had to do.

"Yamakawa here, if we're going to do anything about the fleets I'll do what I can to keep their air units off the rest of us."
