Staren     The AMATERASU lunar mining facility makes for a convenient meeting place for those who want to see SPAAAAACE in a relatively safe environment. Of course, with tensions with the Zaibatsu growing, who knows how long that will last... but Staren has verified that all AMATERASU operations are above-board, at least, so for now he can easily get people guest passes. Now he sits in a folding chair near the warpgate. He's wearing armor over a skintight spacesuit, with his helmet off at the moment to make him easy to recognize. The look of the building is futuristic, but Inga and Rebound have probably seen enough Multiverse by now for that not to be a shock.

The view outside the windows, though, of rock and dark sky with clear stars... if it weren't for the low gravity, the view would probably be the most shocking thing.
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga can't believe she is doing this. To leave a planet, be among the stars. It is almost beyond comprehension that it was possible. Possible for mere mortals and not just gods. But she had decided it should be seen. She cannot spend all her time hiding in the woods.

If skintight clothes are the uniform for space, no one informed Inga. Not that she'd have listened at any rate. She steps out of the gate in a green velvet dress, a Tomoyo original with a matching bonnet. She was told it was the correct outfit for tea by Riva, who, let's face it, probably just wanted to play dress up the Inga.

Upon stepping out of the warp gate, Inga stumbles, shocked by the vastly different gravity, a sensation she has never experienced. She feels so light! But it is incredibly disorienting. She grabs onto nearby Staren, clutching his arm in one hand and her staff in the other. "Will I float away!?" she asks, not yet even looking to the window. She's looking at her feet, wondering if she's still touching the floor.
Rebound     It doesn't take Rebound very long to show up after Inga. Honestly she was a bit surprised to get an invite. She'd never really worked with Staren much, but she guesses he must have a good reason for wanting her to come on by. Plus it's a moon, she doesn't get to go into space much, especially not on her home world.

Being lightweight is cool, but she'll have to be extra careful when she's moving. She can already leap tall buildings in a single bound in normal gravity, she might very well be able to put herself in orbit if she's not careful.
Staren     There's hardly a 'uniform' for space, although at a certain tech level, skintight clothing is easier to fabricate than bulky hardsuits. Staren's spacesuit was a gift from an old friend, though, so he wears armor over it rather than replace it. The armor makes him look like a space cowboy in white and safety-orange, though. It's definately not fashionable. He smiles as Inga arrives, then shakes his head in response to her question. "No, you just... weigh a lot less here. So you'll go really far if you jump or push off."

He slowly stands up as Rebound enters, extending a hand to shake. "Hey. I just thought... Well, I called you here because I thought Inga should see space, and I wanted to talk to you about if there's anything I can do to help you out in the Multiverse, since I haven't seen you much since the first day your world unified and we kicked those bank robbers' asses."

"So..." He turns and waves a hand at the window. "This is Amaterasu, moon of the planet Amalgam." he points to it in the sky. Earthlike, but the continents are the wrong shape. "The colonizing of these worlds is a joint project of Murasame Zaibatsu and the Starbound Flotilla... I guess that doesn't much matter to you, but as a member of the latter that's why I can invite you here."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga lets go of Staren, frowning thoughtfully. "How can I possibly weigh less? I do not understand...is there some sort of spell?" she asks, taking a few steps experimentally. Yes, she certainly feels lighter. "Hmmm..." she says, then sort of pushes off as Staren suggested, as if attempting to lunge forward. It is far more powerful now than she expected. Inga floats off a few feet, her skirts flaring out behind her. "Oh!" she exclaims, flailing before she comes to her feet again, landing softly.

She turns back to Staren and Rebound, eyes wide. "That is incredible," she breathes.

Inga clears her throat then smiles to Rebound. "I do not believe we have met. I am Inga, wisewoman," she introduces with a smile and a small bow.

When Staren draws their attention to the window, Inga moves over, swallowing hard, trying to prepare herself for the sight.

Inga has seen a great many things, but this view is still breathtaking. She raises a hand to cover her mouth, staring out into the stars--and at the planet out there. "Is it...is it real? We're on the moon? A moon, I should say? Astounding..."
Rebound "Well it's still pretty neat, regardless of how you got us up here." Rebound says, as she looks back from Staren to Inga, "Well it's good to meet you Inga. I'm Rebound, average intelligence woman." She says, though the smirk she has clearly shows that she is joking around.

"I suppose that's true, Staren. I've been working with Corona on a lot of stuff, mostly helping her out with issues on her world. My world is...Well, it's not any better, but it's not worse. So things are managing."
Staren     Staren makes a light 'Hm' sound as Inga asks if it's a spell, and goes into exposition mode. "While it doesn't work this way on all worlds -- Galianda and Nobeard's world come to mind as exceptions, and possibly Equestria -- on most worlds, gravity is a function of... I mean... basically, the pull between any two objects is proportional to their mass -- how much stuff they are -- and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Um... so, your weight on earth... So Earth has a lot of mass, like sixty billion billion million pounds, and you're usually standing like 4,000 miles from its center. Amaterasu is a tiny fraction of that mass, and a more significant fraction of that size... a-anyway, that means it works out to, the pull on you from Amaterasu is much less than on Earth. Did I explain that well?" he looks between them uncertainly.
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga looks back to Rebound, snickering. "Wisdom is not the same as intelligence," she counters.

Then, its time to play the 'try to understand Staren' game. Inga blinks, her brow furrowed as she clearly tries to process this. "So...I weigh less....because the moon is smaller than the earth?" she asks for confirmation, not sure she has this right.
Staren     "You weigh less because the moon is /lighter/ than the earth. That it's smaller increases your weight on the surface, but the effect is outweighed -- heh -- by how much extremely lighter it is. I mean... it's about mass. Which is normally analogous to weight, except when dealing with situations like this." Staren rubs the back of his head. "Sorry, I guess it is kind of confusion... mass is how much /stuff/ something is. Sort of. I guess it's kind of hard to describe without using the word weight..."
Rebound "You are the same size, but the ground pulls down on you less because it's not." Rebound offers, "Think of it like...If a noh guy pulls on you you'll get pulled harder than if a small guy pulls on your arm." She says, nodding at her own explanation, "That's about the best I can offer."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga frowns, nodding. "Yes, quite difficult...but I think I understand. One can have a loaf of bread and a rock of the same size, but the rock has more mass, yes?" Inga asks.

Inga looks to Rebound, smiling. "No one better pull on my arm without my concent or they shall find themselves much diminished," she comments before looking out the window once more. She sighs softly, watching for a few moments. "I never thought I would see something like this. Is that what the gods see?" she asks, though it is obviously rhetorical.

"Well, there was something about tea?" she asks, looking back to them.
Staren     Staren nods at the comment about the bread and the rock. "Yes! Normally, mass and weight are the same thing. It's when you deal with unusual gravity that they aren't." Staren turns to a nearby airlock. "Tea will be in a moment, first we may as well take a brief look outside. Normally, on a moon like this you can't go outside without protective gear," he picks up his helmet and raps on the air tank on his back, "but here we have... there are machines making air and holding it around the facility so it doesn't float away." He leads the way to the airlock. It can cycle quickly, since there's little or no pressure difference, and then they can walk out onto the lunar surface!
Rebound "I'm honestly surprised you found an outfit that'd fit me." Rebound says, "I mean considering it'd need to be tailored to my size and everything. I'm not complaining, mind you." She says, as she locks her helmet on.
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga raises her eyebrows. "I suppose I should not be so surprised...I have walked other worlds before. Still, to be on a moon...I do believe that is a first for me," she comments, following Staren. She still leans on her staff, though the gravity makes it easier to move about. She thinks she quite likes that.

"You did say you wished to talk to Rebound about something Staren? Do not wait on my account. I would not mind learning more of the situations on other worlds. I fear I have become too reclusive."
Staren     "Well, the thing is... where do I begin? I guess I begin by asking what she needs help with. I like solving problems. What problems do you have, that I might be able to solve with science and technology?" Staren asks the kangaroo-girl.
Rebound "Well you know...The whole thing with Reptilon taught me that I am not as strong as I want to be." She says, "I mean...Those Saiyans, they were something else. Flying, shooting laser blasts, all that stuff." She says, "I guess I just realized that maybe I need to make myself better. I mean Corona hooked me up with a nice upgrade, but I don't think it's enough."
Inga Freyjasdottir "The multiverse can be quite overwhelming. I never thought to see people so powerful. Gods and spirits, immortals..." she shakes her head, following Staren all the while, her eyes roaming to take it all in.
Staren     Staren nods. "Those Saiyans are something else... but so are you! I saw you fight, you've got mutant super strength... I can't really beat that. Potions might help you a little... but even replacing your body with a full cybernetic conversion wouldn't make you /that/ much stronger." he shakes his head. "Strength, I'm afraid I can't help you with. Ah, but tools to handle different situations... perhaps some armor... it is trivial to reshape it to your body. I've got some samples being made right now... shock gloves, so you can disable them without punching them through a wall? Beyond that... unarmed combat, I'm afraid, isn't something I can help you much with, but if there's anything else..."

Staren looks up at Amalgam. "...Just say when you're ready, and we'll go get some tea."

When they do say they're ready, Staren says "Three to beam up." to himself, and then the trio are surrounded in red energy, and there's a feeling of rushing, and--

Hub - SSC Stranger than Fiction (Location #0)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The walls, floor, and ceiling of the Stranger than Fiction's lower deck are covered with a facade that makes the structure look as if it are constructed of large stone bricks. The 'hub' room is about 25x15' across and about 7 1/3 feet tall. The teleporter pad is in the fore-starboard corner, the doorway to the lab is in the center of the fore wall, and the doorway to manufacturing is in the center of the aft wall. A spiral staircase to storage and the residential deck is in the aft-port corner. Through thick transparisteel windows, you can see space outside. Large storage cupboards are against the walls here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tea is upstairs. I'll be with you in a moment." Staren goes into the back room.

Up the stairs, they pass by the guest room. A carpet and dark wooden furnishings in autumn colors. Bed, table, couch, vanity...

Further up, on the top floor, there's a big window taking up the wall of the stairwell, with the door to a bathroom on the aft side and an archway leading to the kitchen! While the walls and furnigshings maintain the mesieval aesthetic, the kitchen is supplemented with a modern refrigerator, microwave, stove, and sink. There's a kettle on the stove, and chamomile tea is cooling in cups on the table. The room is maybe 14' square, though it feels narrower because of the counter, stove, and fridge against the port wall. The ceiling is about seven and a half feet high.

Staren comes up the stairs holding clothing similar to what he's seen Rebound wearing. "It's sort of like a super-kevlar. It might help a little, but you can only do so much against elites... I wasn't sure if you'd be comfortable in heavier armor, I might be able to make some if you'd like to try it."
Rebound "Light armor works fine for me." Rebound replies, as she looks at the clothing that Staren is offering, "I prefer to just avoid getting hit in the first place." She says, grinning back at him, "So that tea smells great. I can't wait to give it a try."
Inga Freyjasdottir Being beamed up or whatever is quite unsettling. Inga needs tea for certain now. "Yes...tea. This has been...interesting for sure. Thank you for the invitation Staren," she says, then heads up to tea after having a quick look around.
