Kotone Yamakawa Kotone is not in her normal shell today, she's in another one but still from how she dresses, the hair colour and at least here voice it's clearly her. She's leaning over a table with a jumpsuit on though the top is about her waist and she's only got a tank top on otherwise. She's currently looking at a holo display of a very basic robotic form which seems a bit akin to a spider. "Humm just what to do with this..."
Rory White     Rory's going as fast as she can. And that turns out to be TELEPRESENCE! The first thing to arrive is one of the MAINTENANCE DRONES rummaging around amalgam. The boxy, wheeled little thing swings in low. "Development time!" It waves its mechanical arms around ineffectually but excitedly as Rory's voice comes from the on-board speaker.

One of the arms points a screwdriver at Kotone! ... Pointing, maybe?

"Main Morph is on the way. What did you have in mind?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "You know osmeday I'm going to have to play with seeing how many drones I can command. As for what I'm thinking a spider tank like design something that can be used for defece and even assault other targets but I'm thinking something in the less lethal department that could be used for policing or to keep general body counts down. I also have two other drone designs I want you to take a look at later and you just love being beside your self humm Rory?"
Corona Arclite "Don't be gettin' too far ahead of yourself there Koto." No surprise Corona's here, lounging atop a stack of supplies and other storage stuff. "Ah reckon the more diff'rent a form is from normal, the more it's gonna take gettin' adjusted to... then again." She rolls over the rest her chin on her folded arms. "S'pose that's better to try out now than in middle of somethin' important."
Rory White     "Bes... beside my... " Rory freezes in place, processing that one. "oh. Clever!" Rory takes the joke rather cheerily, though what most people would've immediately grokked seems to have taken her about seven seconds to process.

"So... an arachnoid hybrid for maximum mobility, designed for peacekeeping? ... That could have a LOT of potential beyond just colony defense. I like this idea!"

The Screwdriver arm waves at Corona when she arrives, but the gesture looks REALLY WEIRD coming from a maintenance bot. Like it's about to stab her.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "I know could use em for consturction too we got the basif formm but I the specs to the ones from my world? Good look getting them they are either in the hand of companies or miliaries I can't fault the armies of the world not sharing thier gear's specs. Heh fair enough Corona and i wabnt you to hve a say in this too. So I'm thinking what do we want the load out to be and we'll need payloads for synathics and organics, right?"
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite hmmms. "Well iffen ya want to use it fer construction as well, yer gonna need some way to hold onto things. Do those come with some sort of graspin' appendage normally or is that somethin' ya gotta come up with on yer own?"
Rory White     "Not just construction! Search and Rescue." Rory asserts. "Not to mention capturing and subduing hostiles instead of using lethal force.

And just then... Rory White's Synth walks throught he door, completing the statement with a merry, "Insects are fascinatingly mobile. Have you ever seen how they move up close? They are all but perfect!" These words, coming from what looks to be a late teens or maybe early twenties bluenette in white robes - a few notches away from Staff Chick Healer or something - is probably weird indeed.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa Says "Yes I have, I woken up with one on my arm before, camping is a thing I have done. Also there's the fear factor for a lot of species. Soi yes manilator arms." She adjusts the display alters there as it spins about. "So any other ideas there? I'm thinking grabber claws for the hands more or less?"
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite sits up, and pulls a battered old looking journal book from one of her toolbelt pouchs. "Yeah, but iffen yer gonna be grabbin' onto holdin' banditos down and retreivin' the crazy ol' cat lady's kitties outta trees ya gotta be sure they ain't gonna crush soft squishy things." Eventually she finds the right page she's looking for. "Pressure sensative, stuff like that." Holds the book up so the others can see the diagrams on the pages. "Like how my clockwork drones just have two 'fingers' and a thumb, or four clamps in a X arrangement, dependin' on what they're gonna be handlin'. Trust me, tryin' to do a 'full' hand on somethin' that ain't humanoid is just askin' for more complication than ya need."
Rory White     "Smart components can do limited reshaping, but for work on drone scale there's a cost in structural integrity. You don't want smart materials carrying large loads unless it's micro-scale Flexbot-style construction.. and those are TRICKY to mass-produce and maintain. We want something relatively straightforward and simple... hmm. Good point about fine articulation..."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "I don't know on smart matials but i'm thinking we want to make the weapon load outs to be modula some how but freezer form would be a very good option for the load out. Any other thoughts there?"
Corona Arclite Corona Arclite laughs softly at Rory. "Why ya think ah just use the things fer myself? Trying to market 'em would cost more mass producin' em than Ah'd make off sellin' em." Despite the different eras of technology they come from she understood most of what he said. "Bein' able to change yer gear to match the mission at hand is us'ally a good idea iffen ya want to be multipurposed."
Rory White     "So... modular arachnoid drones? LArge enough to drag the average human?" Rory ends on, peering hard at the design display. She begins manipulating it, though the gestures she makes are largely for show. Alterations, quite fine ones, to the structure and frame to nip and tuck. Lots of tiny optimizations that would make manufacturing it with NORMAL means hellish, because fabricating the parts to such specifications would be very specialized work...
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Yes, that's wh tI'm thinking here." She listens for a moment and watchines her friend works. "Humm any ideas for pods?"
Corona Arclite "What about those foam guns like Rory has?" Corona pipes up at the question. "Those would be useful util'tar'an -and- fer non-letahl intahvention, and one less thin' you'd have to switch in an' out... Heck, iffen yer makin' drone spiders, make it shoot like spiders shoot their silk."
Rory White     "That's the Freezer foam." The bluenette points out with a gentle nod. But she ends up quirking her head at Kotone. "Pods? The Morph type? Or were you meaning modular components?"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Modular compoents, Rory." She seemed to be getting into this from the looks of it as she plugs several more cables in while she works. "That sounds like an idea and we hafe a cable kinda of like that to begin with. If we're going to make them for combat or work we need to be able to swap the gear rather than building a whole second unit."
Corona Arclite "Or things that work for both," Corona chimes in again, after wrinkling her nose a bit at the confusion over the foam. 'Freezer foam' sounds like it would be something else entirely, but that's how terminology goes sometimes. "Ya can't make everything dual function, trust me, Ah've tried. But more versatil'ty means less time switchin' thin's back and forth."
