Xiao Li Yu      It's another evening, and as usual, Xiao is holed up in her lab, doing god knows what. She probably hasn't eaten, drank, or slept in ages. Who needs those things? There is SCIENCE to be done!

And so here she is, sitting at her computer and typing away like a madman. She'd called Sanary over to take care of what outstanding thing. Something about magic. She'd see if she could offer some form of insight. Without tools this time.
Sanary Rondel      As always, the scent of cheap, yet delicious and definitely unhealthy fried food precedes Sanary's appearance in Xiao's lab. The healer raps her knuckles against the door before stepping inside, peering inside to make sure Xiao's... Well, alive.

Someone has to make sure the Zaibatsu's favorite scientist is still functioning, after all! "Hey, Xiao. I got the usual." Stepping forward with the bag, there's a little addition in there to go with the standard spring rolls and chicken chunks: A smoothie! "You wanted to talk?"
Xiao Li Yu      Yes, she's still alive.

     For now.

Once Sanary makes her appearance, after the smell of food wafts in before, she swivels her chair around to face the healer. "Ah, Miss Rondel. You're here at last." ...She had dark marks under her eyes, and she stretched her arms upwards, letting out a huge yawn. "Good, good."

     ...Yep, she was fine.

"Yes, I called you here to talk about something. It's rather simple actually." With an elbow rested on the armrest, and her chin in her hand, she gestured for Sanary to get in and have a seat with her other arm. "But first, have a seat. Did you want something to drink?"
Sanary Rondel      "... You really gotta sleep more." Sanary sighs lightly as she offers Xiao a concerned look along with the bag of food, setting the latter on the table. "I can't force you to or anything, but... You'll get more work done if you're working fully rested, you know?"

She still thinks she can get through. One day! One day.

"Oh? What's... Ah. I brought something to help with balancing out your food... Nutrients and stuff, actually." Sanary takes out the smoothie and sets it out for Xiao before taking a seat, chuckling a moment later and shaking her head. "Had one of those on the way over, but... Sure, if you can promise you're not gonna fall over getting it. So... What's up?"
Xiao Li Yu      Blink.

"Well...I guess that solves the problem." Chuckling to herself, Xiao waved her hand dismissively. "Never mind then." Good thing. She probably would have fallen over too. "We'll get to business then." Folding her arms into her lap, the scientist smiled and regarded Sanary.

"A little while back, you mentioned something about wanting to make things 'float' with magic. Right?" There was a pause. "Did you figure anything out in the time since saying so?"
Sanary Rondel      "Business is good. Feel free to eat, too. Don't worry about trying to be polite or whatever and not eating, okay?" Sanary gives Xiao a knowing smirk. Why not a wink?

She's only got the one eye. It wouldn't come through properly.

"FLoating's one thing I was aiming for, yeah. Or just moving stuff around, really." The healer chuckles lightly and goes quiet at the second question, letting out an uncertain noise before slumping a bit and shaking her head. "Not even a little. I've been directing the energy through the same can for... Weeks now? Thing hasn't moved a bit."

As if to demonstrate, Sanary projects some of the healing energy out of her in a green light cloud and directs it towards the table. She doesn't make any physical gestures to go with it, but she does appear to start focusing intently once she starts waving it back and forth over a pencil. No movement.
Xiao Li Yu      And eat she shall. Without further coaxing, she opened up the bag and got out what was inside, proceeding to casually chow down while Sanary spoke. "Hmm....mmn....I see." She mumbled, inbetween bites of food. "So no progress at all." Well, that's not really surprising. Disappointing maybe, but not surprising.

"But hrm... I have an idea." Xiao said after, taking a sip of the smoothie. "Try it again. This time on something lighter. And when you expel your magic particles, make sure they have no aspect to them." A finger was raised. "The previous ones were already contaminated with healing. It needs to be completely empty."
Sanary Rondel      Withdrawing that healing magic back into herself, Sanary sighs and nods once at the comment about her progress. "Yeah... I mean, I feel like I might be getting closer, ubt..." She trails off and shrugs, listening intently to Xiao once she gives her the new directions to work with.

"Empty? Mmn... Contaimnated... That makes sense, yeah." She rolls her mouth a bit while reaching for the bag of food, tearing off a bit of the plastic bag and setting that on the table. "I usually think about it coming out as healing magic, so maybe... Maybe this way'll do it."

Scooting her seat back some to make sure she doesn't accidentally breathe on that piece of plastic, she starts focusing again. Green light still seeps out of the healer before being drawn back in, almost as if she's trying to filter it instead of just letting it out normally. Even while she's holding a lot of that energy in, there's still specks of green light coming through.

As she keeps going, however, there's also something else. A.. Grayish fog? It's a very small fog cloud at the moment, and Sanary's hunching over just trying to get that appear, but it is finally appearing! It just.. Isn't moving very far from where she's sitting.
Xiao Li Yu      Siiiiiiip.

"Hrmn." Disregarding the utter amusement of watching Sanary look like she's trying to push out a brick, Xiao carefully watched the result. It was rough. She could still make out bits of healing particles leaking through. But eventually, there was something else.

"....?" Pausing, she squinted and leaned forward a tad to observe closer. What was that supposed to be? ...Well, whatever it was, Sanary was finally managing something other than healing. And without tools. That was a step forward.

Let's see how long it takes before she putters out.
Sanary Rondel      There's a low, rumbling noise from Sanary's throat as she focuses entirely on moving that weird fog. It's still incredibly small, no larger than a fist, but it's... A thing! She can't afford to look excited yet, though, since her goal still hasn't been attained quite yet.

Namely, moving that freaking plastic piece. The fist-sized cloud keeps extending outwards slowly, separating from the cleric and eventually hovering over that piece of plastic. As it's getting closer and closer, the fog starts to expand, and...

Drops. It doesn't disappear, it doesn't explode, and it doesn't scatter. It just drops right on top of the plastic and seemingly buries it in gray foam-like mush. Coincidentally, Sanary herself also drops right out of her chair while panting heavily.

Apparently, she forgot to breathe while focusing on that.
Xiao Li Yu      Xiao watches this intently.

"....." What was Sanary doing? The cloud moved ever so surely over the plastic, and then...it just dropped?

And so did Sanary in fact. "Um..." Blink blink. "...did you perhaps forget to breathe during that?" She smirked after, looking fairly amused. "But good job so far. You've managed to do something other than heal, and without tools~."

     Cue golf clap.
Sanary Rondel     Still panting as she picks herself back up, Sanary doesn't bother getting all the way up and just rests her head against the chair instead. "A... Little. D.... Did it do anything?" Despite sounding completely out of it, she's also sounding rather exhilirated. Xiao's getting a hopeful look as well, especially at that encouraging clapping.

"That's a... Good start, right?" To her credit, that gray foam is still there sitting on top of the plastic. As time passes (or if it's moved), Xiao may notice that there's faint green and dark purple streaks scattered throughout the light mass as if traces of Sanary's other energies are still tainting the... Whatever it is.

It sort of looks like shaving cream.
Xiao Li Yu      "It....did someting."

What that was, she couldn't be sure. ...Now she was curious. With great difficulty, Xiao stood up and hobbled over to a rack of vials, getting an empty one. "Let's just scoop some of this up annnnnnd we'll analayze it later~." And then that vial was put away. "In any case, we've determined that you *are* capable of doing more than healing. What it is? I have no idea."

     Shrug

"But this has been educational. I hope you learned something, Miss Rondel. Remove the healing from your magic and focus on a different aspect when attempting to use magic. And you'll see what other results come out." Pause. "For better or worse." That came out in an asided mumble.
Sanary Rondel      "Something's... Good, I guess."

Sanary sounds a little less enthusiastic about that. Still, progress is progress, and she's looking forward to seeing just what it is that she actually managed to do! Getting up slowly, the cleric watches Xiao to make sure she doesn't faceplant before looking at the stuff she left on the scientist's table.

"... Ew. Uh. Yeah, lemme know what your tests come back with, then." She chuckles awkwardly before nodding at the directions given to her. "Heh... Will do. I dunno what this'll lead to, but... Just gotta keep at it, right?" She doesn't catch the mumble, but she does try to catch Xiao!

In a hug, that is. "Thanks. Couldn't of done it without you."
Xiao Li Yu      Oh.

     Hugs.

That's not something people usually do with her. Usually it's run the other way. Awkwardly, she pat the healer's back. "Yes, I'll let you know. And doo keep at it. That's the only way you'll actually make progress, after all."

From there, she just sat back, sipping that smoothie lazily. "Mmn...And thank you for the food. I hadn't eaten in over a day." She was wrapped up in work, of course. "Anyway!" Let's not dwell on that! "I don't suppose there's much more for me to poke at with you today. You can go now. Have fun out there~."

     Pause.

"Well, try not to have too much fun."
Sanary Rondel      Noticing that awkwardness, Sanary does let go of Xiao fairly quickly. She's still grinning, though, and she's even caught her breath! "Will do. I've... I've got a lot to keep working with now." It's clear that she's not doing a very good job at keeping the excitement out of her voice, but at the very least? She's not making a mess of things or getting loud.

Xiao's revelation about her lack of food certainly helps to keep the cleric under control, too. "... Xiao. Please. EAT. MORE. Drink. Sleep." She sniffs the air briefly. "... Maybe shower, too. The fried stuff stays in my hair, so you're... Yeah." She sounds worried, but she does move over to the door quickly enough.

"Thanks again, Xiao. I'll be back tomorrow. Make sure to sleep tonight!"
Xiao Li Yu      "Eat, sleep, drink, shower... uh-huh."

And then she turned away and swiveled right back to her computer, resuming the work she put aside when Sanary arrived.

She wasn't going to do any of those things, was she?
