Guest Psyber     We'll travel back in time to February 14th in the Multiverse! Psyber had managed to juggle an actual mission in Scarlet's world with a covert operation that only Duet was to be brought along on. He hadn't told her MUCH about it, really just giving her a date and a location in Boston. She was a smart girl, he knew she'd pick it up once she saw a calendar.

Which is why, when she arrives, it shouldn't surprise her too much that the chosen location is Alden & Harlow, one of Boston's restaurants. And that Psyber is there with a bouqet hydrangeas and wearing a sharp grey and blue suit with a striped tie. He looks like he cleaned himself up pretty well and is generally looking somewhat awkward about the whole event. He's trying, but he doesn't actually go on 'real' dates much, and he's not sure if this will qualify as one.
Duet Fortuna     It probably doesn't qualify as a 'real date' in the sense that some might think. It's enough of one that Duet has dressed up somewhat. That is, instead of her casual wear, she's wearing a flowing blue dress, with some lace and gloves, along with her hair being braided back. It looks 'nice' but she didn't go as all out as she could have... though in this modern day that's a pretty major arrangement, compared to her homeland.

She steps out of the... taxi. Duet hasn't managed to get her license yet, so she has to do that. A little curtsy and smile greets her friend. "Well, I suppose this is going to be an interesting mission."
Guest Psyber     "Yeah. Thanks for agreeing to come along. I figured you might say no due to not being quite there yet, you know?" He admits to her, offering the flowers out towards her before moving to step up next to her, "You look nice, by the way. I like your hair in the braid like that," He muses as he pulls open the door to lead her inside.

It's true that he suspected she might back out due to not quite being able to reciprocate quite yet. So he does look relieved she showed up, perhaps taking it as a positive sign.

The interior looks rather nice. Quaint and very oriented towards small and secluded tables. It offers fairly nice french food and a very quiet atmosphere. As they're led to a table, he remarks, "I was going to take Elliana here last year, but I backed out and wound up taking her for burgers and an arcade trip instead. Boy were they made I cancelled that table last minute," He grins and laughs faintly.
Duet Fortuna     Duet accepts the flowers and quietly tucks them aside, before they start sniffing around for something to eat or something. Actually she isn't using her powers so they're unlikely to be a problem, but she can't be too careful.

"It may not have been the best idea, last year," Duet admits, "But this is a very nice place." There's no objection to it being offered to /her/ this year. She is polite when she greets the maître d', taking a long look around for now. "Is this the sort of place where it can be best to simply let them handle the choice of meal~?"
Guest Psyber     He does take a moment ot tease her about the comment, "Yeah. It's less a place to take your best friend, but far better suited for a potential girlfriend," He gives her a playful wink and then sits down across from her at a table, once they're led there and appropriately seated.

"Yes, I think there's a chef's menu. Tonight is, I believe..." He tries to remember, "Lamb shank, with root vegetables. A caesar salad to start. And a chocolate mousse to finish it. We can get some wine if you'd like?"

He's still feeling somewhat awkward, so his segue into actual conversation is kind of abrupt, "So is the new job treating you well? I worried secretary work might not be engaging enough."
Duet Fortuna     "Wine would be fine," Duet says quietly. She pauses. "I'm not actually familiar with the types of wine you have here, so you'll need to pick something. All I've had are lighter dessert wines when I'm in town, I should probably change that." For someone raised in the streets, she's certainly taken to higher society more quickly than expected.

"That sounds excellent though, I'll have that when we order." She settles into the chair and smiles, "The job is fine. It's quiet most of the time, but lets me keep up with things. Pretty much perfect for me, I think. I'm enjoying the slower pace and being able to pick and choose what I'm involved in."
Guest Psyber     Psyber does order wine for them both, "We'll go with the 2003 Cabernet from Armond Vineyards," It's a pricier one, and a red wine, but he figures it will pair well with the meal and generally taste worth the money. He's not inordinately rich, but he can afford to spend well once in a while.

His smile is soft now, a bit less forced and more relaxed as he nods in response to her comments about the job, "I'm glad to hear that. I think the break in pace would be nice. Plus you're really the best Executive Assistant I could hire."

Psyber has a bit of a heavier question, "Over a year and a half ago, in Boston Harbor, I told you what your redemption meant to me. I dunno if you remember because a lot happened since then, but if you do remember that meeting, have I finally... given you that?" He inquires, looking over the rim of a wine glass at the girl.
Duet Fortuna     Duet laughs softly at that question, heavy or not. Why? Because she taps the mask, which is a more decorative one right now, and shakes her head. "The irony of wearing a mask so that I could remove my mask hasn't escaped me, Psyber."

That already should have answered the question. "I think that - to be fair, with the help of others - there's been more than that. I'm enjoying myself again, and when I'm not, it's because I'm doing something I want to do."
Guest Psyber     "You are right. A lot of people have built the bridge that brought us here. And I will be, for all the pain it caused to arrive here, grateful to them for that," He says to her, his tension melting again and giving way to an awkward sort of smile when she taps her mask, looking relieved.

"I'm glad to hear you're enjoying yourself again. It's actually nice to have you under the roof of the office, awkward though I thought it might be," He confesses, spinning a fork in his fingers as a nervous gesture, "Nice Girl Duet Fortuna is huge help. Maybe she should look at ways to get into the Union, if it interests her. Though I think tonight we should just enjoy eachother's company."
Duet Fortuna     "I've thought about it," Duet replies, regarding the Union membership. "Moving as an Unaffiliated is easier, though. Less scrutiny, fewer questions asked for any decision I may make. Besides... I think high command may be more comfortable with me if I proved my worth a bit more in the field first." She picks up the wine glass and smiles. "Which is not to say I haven't thought about it frequently."

Idly, Duet runs a finger over the edge of the wineglass. "Besides, most of my friends are there."
Guest Psyber     Carefully, he reaches across the table and tries to take her free hand in his, leaving the other at the wine glass, "Take your time being Unaffiliated for now, I think. Or Syndicate, as it were. Anything more can be decided as the need arises, and you have friends who can help you however you choose to plan your future."

He squeezes her hand a bit, smiling back at her, "So. How does it feel to be out on a date on your first Valentine's Day in America, Duet~?" He sing-song teases.
