Rebecca Chambers     It's just another night in the Multiverse. Rebecca Chambers has finished her duties for the night and has decided to take some time off at the bar. Arriving wearing a light jacket over her uniform, she takes a seat at the bar and peruses the menu. She doesn't order anything just yet though.

For some strange reason, it looks like there's something on her mind. Then again that could just be her usual expression and how she presents to other people. But Rebecca's demeanor seems a little less positive than usual. Why is anyone's guess...
Inga Freyjasdottir "I told you, I will have it ready by tomorrow the herbs need time to--" Inga stops mid-sentence, walking through the doorway, a cup of tea in her hand and a stunned expression on her face. "Odin's bones!" she curses. "Again!?"

With a heavy sigh, the woman continues in, leaning on a wooden staff to aid her walking, grumbling. "This place is most bizarre, I was in the middle of a--well, nevermind, might as well eat," she says, looking around the place, wondering why she was here. Walk through a door and every now and then she ended up here. Very distracting, but as with most things Inga assumes there must be a reason for it. Something she needs to do here.

Inga look to see if there is anyone she knows before looking for a table, nodding to Rebecca in greeting. "Wonder what the specials are tonight," she comments.
Rebecca Chambers     "Uh, the specials are..." Rebecca blushes a little. "I'm not sure what the specials are." She looks briefly at the woman taking a seat next to her, then does a double-take. Originally she thought she recognized the voice, but it turns out it's someone she doesn't actually know! If she could sweatdrop, she more than likely would right now! "I'm... I'm terribly sorry, I thought you were someone I knew!"

After ordering a non-alcoholic beverage, Rebecca turns to face the newcomer, trying to smile confidently. "I'm Officer Rebecca Chambers, might I ask who you are?"
Inga Freyjasdottir "I hope you don't mind a bit of company, it is better than sitting alone yes?" she asks, taking a seat. She doesn't even look at the menu. She will ask the servant. Server. Whatever.

Inga bows her head a bit in greeting. "Inga Freyjasdottir. A pleasure to meet you Rebecca Chambers. I am sure I have heard your voice on the radio. You are with the Union as well, are you not?" she asks, leaning her staff against an empty chair.

When the server comes over, Inga orders an ale, putting her teacup down on the table. It was nearly empty anyway. Ending up here was a good sign she might need to switch to alcohol.
Rebecca Chambers     "That is correct, I am an Ensign within the Union Allied Forces," Rebecca replies. "And I am certain you have heard my voice on the radio. I have been with the Union for a while and I am fairly active within. So I tend to communicate quite often on the radio." She smiles politely. "Pleasure to meet you, Inga."

When Rebecca's drink arrives, she holds it but doesn't drink it just yet. She wants to wait for Inga to get her drink. "So, Inga, might I ask what your occupation is?"
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga isn't entirely sure exactly what ensign means, but as she's been in the Union a while, Inga will assume she is high ranking. "I like the radio, it is very interesting. I like to speak with people so far away, truly a marvel," she says, shaking her head. "I have not been around very long. A year perhaps, I have been in the Union? Or is it two..." Inga purses her lips thoughtfull, then shakes her head. "Yes, one or so," she decides, smiling. She smoothes the dress she wears, which is obviously old fashioned. Dark ages, to be precise.

"I am...a wisewoman. That I think is the best term in this language. I am a Seer, a witch, a cunning woman...I was trained to heal and to curse, to cast spells and to read the wyrd--that is the beginning. It is all very complicated. I help where I am needed," she says, shrugging her shoulders slightly.

When her ale arrives, she takes a sip, looking to Rebecca. Her pupils dialate slightly. "I see blood on your hands and people's lives in them. You are a healer as well, yes?"
Rebecca Chambers     Taking a sip of her drink, Rebecca gives a small nod of her head. "Yes, the radio is very useful for communicating with others. For some it's a new form of technology, but for others it's just everyday usage." She smiles a little. "So only about a year, hmm? Well, hopefully you'll stay with us for awhile." She listens to to Inga's explanation of her occupation, nodding as if to acknowledge what is being said. "Yes, I can understand what you're talking about, definitely." She has only a fair grasp of what is being said, but the basics are with her, so she doesn't try to inquire further.

It's when Inga's pupils dialate and then makes those comments that Rebecca goes wide-eyed a little. "Blood... on my hands?" She looks down at her glove-clad hands, then processes what else is being said. "People's lives? A healer?" She bites her lower lip, attempting to make sense of what Inga is telling her. Then it occurs to her and she nods again, albeit a little uneasily. "Well, yes, I am kind of like a healer. I'm what they call a 'medic.'" She pauses, then realizes Inga might not know what that means. "Medic is a shortened form of the word 'medicine,' which are various substances used to treat people for illness or injury. So yes, you might say that I am kind of like a healer."
Inga Freyjasdottir "You know how to save lives when those lives are slipping away. A healer," she says, smiling slightly. "I do not think it matters overmuch the term used, the intention is the same," she answers.

A small sigh. "I apologize if I unnerved you. I cannot help seeing things. Seer, you understand," she adds. But does she understand. "I shall try not to be nosy," she smiles. "Yes, I do think I will remain with the Union a good while," like, maybe forever? "I am impressed so far with the way it brings together so many different people from different worlds. Remarkable, really," she says.

When the server returns to take her order, Inga asks him to read the menu to her. Like a good sport, he does so. "Bring me the steak then, thank you," she says to him before looking back to Rebecca.
Rebecca Chambers     "Well, yes, that's part of my profession," Rebecca says after a moment. "I have other tasks, but that was my primary profession when I first became an officer." She smiles, albeit a little crookedly. "Yes, the intention is definitely the same." When Inga sighs, Rebecca's smile turns reassuring. "Don't worry, I understand what you're talking about. It just caught me by surprise, that's all." Rebecca then takes a brief glance at the menu and orders a simple appetizer. After handing her menu to the server, Rebecca turns to face Inga again.

"It does bring many people together from afar. It's quite remarkable, I will agree. In fact, I have encountered people I once knew briefly. It's rather interesting to see people you thought were gone." Her smile fades a little.
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga raises a brow. "Really? That is something..." she says, looking down at her glass of ale, no doubt thinking what it would be like to meet again the people who were gone.

Inga shakes her head slightly, taking a sip of ale. "So, an officer. Is that what seems to wear so heavy upon you? You seem troubled," Inga said, hoping she's not intruding too far.
Rebecca Chambers     "No, not really," Rebecca says, shaking her head with another sip of her drink. "It's just everyday work related stress." She runs a hand through her hair. "Truth be told, some days are better than others. And some days you wish you had never gotten out of bed." She sighs a little as she flashes back to a mission from a few weeks ago. She starts to open her mouth to talk about it, but decides not to. Instead, she simply closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, blowing it out.

When she looks at Inga again, she's smiling a little again. "It's quite interesting how you can see how I'm feeling, what I do, things like that. I don't think I've ever met a Seer before."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga watches her. Her gaze is certainly a keen one. Unnerving for some. "I think we all have those days. Being a Seer....sometimes I lose days at a time. I'll be watching the tapestry of fate, lose myself in following the threads until something pulls me back and I realize it has been a day or more," she replies. "Yes, some days are better than others," she empathizes.

Inga brightens some, a bit of the previous manic animation returning. "It isn't as though I know all you do or feel, obviously. That would be....well, what I have is overwhelming enough. I usually see...snippets. Imagine you are looking at a tangle of yarn. It's all interwoven, knotted around in a mess...it stretches out before you, a picture here, a picture there...you focus on one and you follow the string through the knotted work...then you follow another possibility. Some threads are more obvious than others, they stand out more. when looking to the future, those strong threads are the ones more likely to happen...but it is still not guarantee. Only very, very rarely is something...destined. Certain. Even then, details will vary," she explains.
Rebecca Chambers     Trying to listen, Rebecca nods her head, although her mind gets a bit jumbled at times. Nevertheless, she tries to give the impression that she's listening. When all is said and done, she tries to process what she's heard, and respond politely. "Yes... I think I can understand that..." She takes another sip of her drink. "You've provided me with some very interesting insights tonight, I must say I'm impressed."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga smiles softly. "I know it is rather confusing, though I must say I think that might be the best explaination I've given yet," she laughs.

Inga looks delighted when dinner arrives. Its is a large portion of food for a small woman, but by the look in her eye she plans to finish every bite. She carves in and eats a few bites, then blinks at Rebecca. "Heh...it is just...what I do," she replies. "But I have spoken too much about myself. You are very young, are you not? How did you find yourself in the Union? Or in the multiverse. I'm always interested to hear how people arrived here."
Rebecca Chambers     "Yes, I am. For some reason, when I entered the Multiverse, I didn't age at all. I guess for some people they age, others they don't." She bites her lower lip a little. "Personally, it was sometime after an incident occurred in my hometown of Raccoon City. Basically, I was a police officer within the Raccoon Police Department. I had been assigned to a special military-styled unit which specialized in difficult situations. It was known as the Special Tactics And Rescue Service, or S.T.A.R.S. for short (yes, that's STARS, not S-T-A-R-S.) I was surprised given how young I was, but they promised to help me out with my studies."

When Rebecca's appetizer arrives, she thanks the server and takes a couple of bites before continuing. "I'd graduated from Raccoon University at the age of eighteen, which seemed weird to many until you learned that I was exceptionally gifted intellect wise. They promised to give me a lab to study biochemistry. But that was before things got crazy..."

Rebecca pauses, trying to figure out how to word this so it will make sense. Then she decides to just go with what she's got. "Right after I joined S.T.A.R.S., we were deployed to a nearby forest to investigate strange murders. Our helicopter was sabotaged and we crash-landed. It was there that we learned of a company known as Umbrella was making a virus that could turn living things into monsters. We were able to destroy the mansion where the experiments took place, but because our police chief was being bribed by Umbrella, nothing happened until it was too late..."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga listens, trying to follow along. As she has been here for a more than a year she's been schooled any many modern things, so at least she knows what a police officer is, and a helicopter! Hurray, Inga! She's completely lost on biochemistry however, but she smiles and nods all the same.

Her brow furrows as she hears about Umbrella and what they did. "Umbrella...what a strange name. Isn't that...well, the thing you hold over your head in the rain? Wonderful invention, really," she says, offhandedly. "How terrible....I take it the experiments continued then?" she asks.
Rebecca Chambers     "It is, yes, but that's also the name of the company." She sighs. "Yes, the experiments have continued." She takes another bite of her appetizer. "So I have been active on more than one front, definitely."
Rebecca Chambers     And with that, the conversation and the consumption of food and drink continued into the night...
