Chica Mendez     Since the meeting that she'd had with the others the day before, Chica had been making it a point to walk around to as many of Ravnica's areas as she feasibly could. The ones on the 'light' side of things, anyway. The legal places, the places she would probably need to know just in case she needs to make a hasty retreat from elsewhere. What she'd learned thus far was that all of these guilds were meant to do different things, and that there were probably more than a few of them who might not mind using an 'outsider' to get things done without having any connection to the politics.

There's just one place--and one person--that she hasn't quite come to understand yet. Izzet, and that strange paracritter girl. How exactly were explosions helping? It all seemed really magical, too, which means there might be things for her to consider taking...

After finding her way back to the plaza she went to last time. The weirds guarding the Izzet gate get to see Chica dressed mostly like she was last time, with a little more Aztlan flair to it. She puts down her glasses and tries to smile enticingly. "Chica Mendez to see Yunomi Stadler. It's business." She doesn't actually know if they're sentient, or what she means. She just hopes the stupid message gets conveyed.
Yunomi Stadler RAVNICA, CITY OF GUILDS -- THE IZZET SECTOR -- NIVIX

The plaza below the spire were alight with the reds and blues of the GUild Gate, and the Steamcore Weirds, their boiling forms and liquid lava centers (it really is the /worst/ candy ever), seem unpeturbed as the stranger comes up to them. One of them, the great, hulking form seems to turn towards her (hard to tell, as they have no eyes), but gives a bubbling, hissing sound, steam rising from its watery skin, and then it motions Chica to go inside.

The main entrance hall of the Guildhall Nivix is as grand as any guild foudned by a dragon should be. A mixture of Steampunk Asthetic and magical paraphenalia. Djinn wander between pillars, humans and goblins walking purposefully.

And there, sitting on the side of a fountain, is the girl from yesterday. Although she's not in such... odd garb. A red sweatshirt, a pair of jeans. Her bright blue and red bangs are pulled back and pinned, mixed into her dark brown hair and pulled into a bun, she appears to have some paperwork set in front of her, on a floating table.
Chica Mendez     Well, so much for being charismatic about it. Honestly, Chica wasn't entirely sure what she'd been expecting, anyway. The odds of them actually being intelligent probably weren't all that great in the first place. Once indicated, the Aztlan elf sort of shrugs and makes her way inside.

What she sees... Ah, it gets her magical curiosity all a-tingle, and a small grin comes to her face. It sort of reminded her of the inside of an Aztechnology pyramid, just less... corporate. And a lot less actively malevolent. It takes a lot of focus to not just go running for something to Assense it.

When she spots the familiar girl, Chica makes her way over with a sort of forced leisurely pace, coming to a stop a few feet away from the distracted girl. "Ms. Stadler, excuse me. I met you the other day." she calls out, and waves. She makes sure that she's acknowledged before going any further.
Yunomi Stadler     That would probably prompt a security response. In spite of their friendliness, the Izzet /do/ take threats quite seriously. Eyes are on her at any point inside Nivix.

Yunomi straightens up as she hears someone address her by her adopted name, quite formally, and seeing Chica, she gives a wry little smile and hops to her feet. "Chica Mendez, how do you do?" she replies, and offers a hand. Her hands are currently wrapped in bandages and light gloves.
Chica Mendez     Well, that's good. Maybe Mr. Hardcase hadn't actually spoiled this for her. She'd honestly expected him to go blabbing immediately. Either way, Chica smiles wide and accepts the hand graciously--though, noting how Yunomi's hands are covered in bandages, she gives a more gentle shake than she might have before. "Doing well enough. I've been wandering around being a tourist for awhile--thought I'd come back and see if I could speak to you. May I sit?" She motions for the spot next to the shapeshifter.

"I was extremely curious after our last meeting, though," the elf admits with a small smile. "I may not be a researcher, but as a mage I'm always interested in new magical phenomena. I was hoping--maybe you could explain what you are, and how your magic works." She pauses and smiles a bit sheepishly. "NOt for free, of course. I don't mind paying a cost or favor for it."
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi's ears wiggle a moment. "YOu don't want to owe me favors. As for what I am... damn unique is pretty much the be-all end-all of that." Yunomi replies with a slight smile to her face, but she motions to the side of the fountain for Chica.

"Doing the tourist thing is pretty interesting, depending on the kind of touristing you're in to. More than once I've had to help out a hapless traveler who got ensnared by some... pretty unsavory parts of Ravnica. Like the Golgari Swarm." Yunomi replies, drawing up one leg and resting her chin on her knee, her lips pursed a moment. She appears to study Chica, curiously, her ears coming forward and honing on her. "Forgive me if you mentioned yesterday, Albert was a bit trysome. What do you do?"
Chica Mendez     Well, that takes out one of the best ways to get information from a magical creature. THe elf doesn't let her disappointment show, simply nodding along with Yunomi's statement, but now she has to backpedal and maybe think of a different way to get the scoop on this. It's a shame she wasn't working on someone a little more her speed. A lot more means of applying pressure in that case.

One thing that Chica does full-out agree with, is how intense Ravnica was. The concept of a gigantic city is downright common to her, but this one was even bigger than any of the sprawls. "Pretty sure I haven't run into anyone calling themselves the Golgari Swarm, so I'm good there," she jokes lightly. "I'd rather stay out of any weird places, of course." As for what she does... Chica goes into a pocket and draws out a tiny wolf sculpture made out of many strips of clay, in various colors. "This is a Power foci," she explains, and a magical examination would prove it is indeed magical. Not particularly strongly, though. "It eases spellcasting for all the diffferent types of spells I know. I make and sell stuff like this." She holds off on the 'illegally' part for now.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi's gotten used to the bustle of the world -- but that took a lot of support from someone no longer here. She leans back a moment, the tip of her tail dipping into the pool of the fountain as she glances at the foci. She raises her eyebrows curiously, and leans forward, her eyes looking over it the same way someone might look over a Ming vase or unknown artwork by Leonardo.

"That's cool. I know a couple of mages who could use that sort of thing." she compliments. "IS your homeworld high tech? Magic? Kinda in-between?" she inquires. "My homeworld had centers where magic worked really well, but was almost unheard of elsewhere."
Chica Mendez     Might as well continue with the ptch. Chica lets a small blush come to her cheeks at the compliment, and she offers the foci for Yunomi to pick up. "It's not bonded to me, so be careful. Don't try to channel through it, otherwise you'll owe me some money." Whether or not Yunomi takes it, she continues. "It comes in different types, too. Power foci are the hardest to make. The rest are focused on particular types of spells, like Combat. Power foci ease spellcasting for all types."

Her world... She considers actually explaining what a shithole her world actually is. Instead, she chuckles easily and digs into her pocket to pull out what looks like a tiny iProduct of some sort. "Both. This is a commlink that can put out AR and drop me into VR wherever there's Matrix access. I've also got a lot of my foci formulas stored in here. Hell, we even have a dragon that runs a corporation."
Yunomi Stadler     "Dragons that run corperations. How outlandish. Purely out of fantasy." Yunomi states, but she's clearly not serious.

The whole place around Nivix has a dragon motif. She doesn't try to channel through it, but her interest is piqued, She runs her fingers over it, and considers for a moment making an offer on one, but she hands it back to the jewelery-making magewright.

"I used to hae a proper radio here, but I found that when I'm working, the signal would fluctuate. Just... some high tech doesn't play well with a whole lot of energy in the air." she explains. "Neat little embellishments, though, are an interesting twist."
Chica Mendez     Taking a look around, Chica snickers at the joke. Yeah, she can see the touches of a dragon's influence here. It made her a little leery, but so far nothing had tried to eat her yet. Points there over Saeder-Krupp. She takes the sculpture back carefully, storing it in a little pouch hanging from her belt. "I've noticed it too, sometimes. Some areas where leylines have formed aren't that great for tech in my area, either."

Hmm... Maybe now was time to get a little more dangerous. Leaning close, Chica affects a shy, apologetic tone. "I, uh. Well, I should probably tell you--when we first met, I kind of Assensed you. I didn't mean to be rude, but I was curious. Is that okay? I did kind of notice you weren't really human."
Yunomi Stadler     "Was it the fuzzy ears or the tail that gave it away?" Yunomi states, pointing to and wiggling her round, soft ears, her voice dry, but with a sense of humour.

"So, before we start talking about me, what made you think that was OK when you were obviously surroudned by a whole lot of mages, in their home space, with their guardian nearby and watching you?" She adds in a curious tone.
Chica Mendez     Chica laughs again. "To be fair, there's a race of people in my world called Changelings that might have those. They're generally got the same numbers of Awakened as the rest of us do." Had she not Assensed the girl, that probably would've been her first assumption. But no, this is clearly different.

As for that, well... Chica actually does blush on that one. Generally most people didn't notice, and it seemed they hadn't this time, either. "Call it tourist stupidity, I guess. When it comes to magical things, I'm a little too curious for my own good. Honestly, my magic is the best thing, one of the few good things, that I have. So, I get a little overzealous." Uncomfortable shrug.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi hadn't noticed, btu she is good at bluffing. She wasn't sure what Assensedding was, but now she had a good idea of what it could do. She's going to have to put more focus into her blue mana training... and shut something like that out in the future.

She looks as if she's considering a moment putting her hand to her chin thoughtfully, and then gives a single wag of her finger, pointing to Chica. "Be careful with that. You probably don't have to be told that there are thousands of magical beings who will take full advantage of that. The Izzet quarter isn't too dangerous unless you don't follow the construction warnings, but other guilds... they don't show favor to those who start to meddle. Be careful." Yunomi states, and then quietly "... so, what did your assensing tell you about me?"
Chica Mendez     The warning honestly isn't necessary, but she accepts it. Shadows anywhere were dangerous places to be, especially when there were incredibly powerful magical beings around. The counterpoint was being careful, not signing any deals she didn't understand, and keeping her identity hidden as much as possible. It's not so different from Seattle, the players just had different names and faces. None of them had ever been particularly friendly. "I understand," is all she says, though.

Turning onto what might be a slightly easier topic, Chica pitches her voice low as well. "I saw your Aura. Well... parts of it. Not enough to get a full understanding, but you're what my world would consider an intelligent paracritter. An Awakened animal." She holds up a hand quickly. "Not meaning to offend, of course. The fact that you can transform to appear like this is astounding. Not many on my world can."
Yunomi Stadler     "You're not far from the truth. In my homeworld, I'm called a 'mamedanuki', or magical raccoon dog. This is, naturally, not my natural form." she gives a wry grin "But I wear it more often than my original form. It's really quite nice having opposable thumbs and not being afraid of soup pots." she explains. And in order to illustrate, she brings her hands up, closes them, and then spreads them, showing an adorable, fluffy creature looking like the baby of a fox and a chubby raccoon, much like http://tinyurl.com/zg3pgwn would look, in a magically powered image between her hands.
Chica Mendez     So /that's/ what it was. A big, wide grin comes to Chica's face. "Oh, I know what you are now. Seattle's got a huge Japanese population. You guys get put on sculptures and stuff all the time." She tilts her head, a warm smile that reaches her eyes on her pretty face. It was... really cute. "I don't think you guys exist on my world, though. At least, I haven't seen or heard about them."

She pauses after a moment to consider why that might be, though it doesn't take long. "Though that might be because my Japan is still pretty racist against metas. Maybe you guys do exist somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want anyone to know about it."
Yunomi Stadler     "... some things don't change." Yunomi states with an air of sadness in her voice, but she gives a slight smile to Chica. "Yeah, sculptures, sake jugs, bars, brothels... we're pretty popular when we're not being eaten with noodles." She waggles her fingers, as if it's meant to be scary. "So, I'm really just a paticularly powerful shapeshifting forest creature who hangs out mostly with humans, dragons and goblins." she explains. "I have a knack for all sorts of spellwork."
Chica Mendez     "No they don't," Chica answers wryly. Even as an elf, she knows the struggle that comes with a bunch of human supremecists. Still, at least this question is finally solved. Chica leans back, satisfied. She'd been thinking she might have to drop the Power foci as payment, but everything went... better then expected for once. How nice.

With a smile, Chica holds out her hand to shake. "Well, I'm an Aztlanner elf that makes foci, so at least now we're even. Thank you for humoring me. If you want, you can buy foci from me at a discount. I also can Assense magical items to figure out what they do, but..." She glances quickly around the area. "I don't think you'll have a problem with that."
Yunomi Stadler     "No, no, we tend to poke magical things until they explode. And then we fix them and poke them more. It's all very complicated and more sciencey than that." Yunomi states, and she reaches over and gives Chica a shake. "Just one more warning then." Yunomi gives a brilliant smile. "The Izzet are allied to the Boros Legion, who are our peacekeepers and police force in Ravnica, and the Azorious Senate who make the laws. Be careful out there, but if you do find yourself in a sitch, mention me. I'm a bit popular. They'll either let you go or make your death really quick."
Chica Mendez     Slowly, the elf blinks as she muses over Yunomi's wrds. That explained the explosion. What is it with them and explosions? "How in the hell do you make things better with explosions?" She mumbles quietly, blinking bemusedly. It sounded like Ares, but not. Doesn't matter. Chica turns her attention to Yunomi as she gives her last warning, and the elf slips on the most disarming smile that she can muster. "While I'm grateful for the warning, I'm curious why you think I'll be getting into trouble. Why should they pay attention to me over anyone else?"
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi gives a grin.
"You've been spotted with me." she states, and pulls her floating table back over. "Some like me, some don't, but there's a few who have something against me. So... just be careful." she glances up, a worried look crossing her face. "I've done enough damage to other worlds. I don't think I want to cause more to anyone else."
Chica Mendez     Well, that'll do it. A big grin comes to Chica's face in return as she stands. "Eh. I've had worse company, I promise." She spends a moment to stretch, then glances down with confusion at Yunomi's genuine concern. "Ahh... Don't worry yourself so much. Everybody has bad times eventually. I'm sure I'll do just fine here." Reaching into her pocket, she digs out the Power foci and drops it gently on Yunomi's table. "Steal my design and I'll sue you," she jokes, then waves over her shoulder as she saunters her way out.

On her way out the door, she runs her fingers over an AR interface that only she can see and feel with her glasses, completing the map she'd made up until this point. A few grey areas told her where she'd need to go to find the Undercity. A wistful smile comes to Chica's face. Soon, everything would be ready. La Llorona was going to walk the streets of Ravnica, whether Yunomi would like it or not.
