Kari Wolf     There are many parks in Techno Urbania, designed to take one away from the urban sprawl of Urbania, and this one is also a large pedestrian walkway between two sky-scrapers. Covered to protect the place from the noise of the city and to keep out the flying rats known as pigeons. Many grassy spots dot the winding walkway through the center of the path, along with a few smallish trees (more like shrubbery with aspirations towards treehood).
Kari is here with her master Zarenna as well as Harriet, seeming to have a picnic of some sort. Kari has cheerfully invited both Taro and Alden to the picnic as well.
Alden      Alden was more than happy to accept the invitation, and for once he knew how to get to the place, so he made it at the proper time!. He was carrying a small basket with him, a large bottle of soda stickign out, and the smell of meat coming from it. He had to struggle a little bit with the basket, looking around for Kari even as he made it into the park, "Kari?" he asks outloud.
Taro     A picnic? Since it's Kari that extended the invitation, he'd be loath to refuse it.
It's not like him to be late, and he isn't. There he is, walking up the path, carrying a cloth-wrapped box by whre it's been tied at its top. As usual, he doesn't smile as he spots Zarenna and company, though he raises his free hand to greet them.
Not knowing that someone else has been invited (or even if he has he has no idea who Alden is), he isn't particularly looking for the digimon that will be joining them...hopefully he'll be excused if he walks right past him.
Kari Wolf     Kari is perching on top of her master's head looking for Alden, mussing up the green (or is it purple?) hair. She spots the gabumon and waves, hopping down from Zarenna's head to go greet the digimon since Kari is pretty sure that she's hard to see!
Zarenna nods to Taro. "Afternoon, Taro." She reaches down and lifts out the water bottles that Harriet was struggling with. Looks like Zarenna packed cured salmon and salad things for her own meal. "I forget, do you eat or drink?" She says to Taro.
Alden      Alden was not really away of Taro, so there was nothing to apologize for!. His attention turns towards Kari when he hears the voice adn waves one arm happily before he begins to move faster towards her, and the others!. He spots at least one unfamiliar face and waves to them as well, "Hi Kari, glad to see you again." he says with a grin, lizardish tail wagging. "I brought a soda and some cooked meat." he says happily. Of course, Taro and the others get a polite bow of sorts, "I'm Alden."
Taro     "Good afternoon, Zarenna, Harriet, Kari," Taro greets the trio warmly, even if his expression remains a bit cool. The subtleties of human facial expressions are far easier to read than to imitate, really. His gaze briefly follows the smaller shinki when she hops away, but then turns back to Zarenna at the question. "I don't normally eat," he answers, "though I do enjoy drinks. I took the liberty of bringing tea and jelly cans to share."
Then they're joined by a stranger, or at least a stranger to him. He raises an eyebrow slightly at Alden, but that seems to be more out of curiosity than complaint. He returns the bow with a graceful one of his own. "Taro Daisho. A pleasure."
Kari Wolf     Kari leads Alden back to the picnic blanket and the baskets. She smiles as Alden and Taro introduce themselves. She introduces her master to Alden. "This is my master! She takes care of me and Harriet."
"I'm Zarenna, nice to meet you Alden. Though I'm not sure what kind of creature you are?" Zarenna asks, looking curiously at Alden.
Harriet bows politely to Taro, likely considering the reploid something of a father figure, and helps unpack the things that Taro brought, her rabbit familiar peering out from Zarenna's picnic basket.
Alden Alden smiles happily and places down the food and drink he brought with the rest, reaching to pet Kari, not meaning to disrespect her, he just thought she was cute!. He nods at the introductions with a grin. "I'm a Digimon! a Gabumon to be precise." he tells the human, tail wagging behind him a bit more. "Nice to meet you." he says, before turning towards Taro with a grin, "Pleasure is mine Taro." he chirps. He sits down, still wearing the odd pelt on his back, "Thanks for the invitation Kari."
Taro     Once he sets his contribution to the picnic down on the blanket, Taro helpfully unties the knots of the cloth wrapping so that Harriet doesn't have to fuss with them. Inside the box are a large thermos, some cups, a small assortment of jelly cans, and napkins. He doesn't mind the help, though he'll in turn give the larger shinki a hand with lifting out the thermos.
    A Digimon? interesting...
He kneels down at one edge of the blanket rather than sitting - it's more comfortable given the confines of his cassock, and likely he's used to it, given the other side of his vocation. "I trust all of you are well?"
Kari Wolf     Harriet nods quietly in appreciation of the help, sorting things as she tends to do. The jelly cans are sorted over there, the miscellaneous food stuff laid out in an orderly fashion. The robo-rabbit familiar itself ends up settling near the jelly cans.
Zarenna ohs. "A digimon? I don't think we see many of those here in the Multiverse. I heard you were shy and reclusive." She extends her hands, offering to take the cumbersome basket from Alden and set out the foodstuffs the digimon has brought.
Kari gushes. "Things are just awesome, Taro! There wasn't any useless Santa coal this year!"
Alden Alden brought a couple soda bottles, and slices of tasty, well cooked meat in sandwiches. He rumbles happily and brushes Kari gently, "I am doing ok, had a fun week." he says softly, lizard tail twitching as he inched closer to the group. He looks at the robot bunny for a moment, "Forgot how cute you two were." he says, before chuckling, "Nah, I am not that shy, well, unless you try to ask me to take off my furcoat." he says.
Taro     "So there wasn't," Taro replies to Kari with a nod. "For which most of us I'm sure are thankful." He glances over to her sister. "And you, Harriet?" he asks, an attempt to draw her into conversation.
"Not you personally, perhaps, but as a rule," he goes on to remark at Alden's comment. "At least, I have heard more of digimon than actually met, and even then what I've heard is little."
Kari Wolf     Kari makes 'bweee' sounds as Alden pets her, enjoying it. "Alden was a reindeer when we were helping the toy drive! The little kids liked him a lot!"
Harriet says "I've been reading the books you sent, Taro. Otherwise doing well."
Alden      Alden focuses on Taro for a moment, nodding, "I noticed there aren't many digimon around, at least roaming the multiverse." he says, smiling, "Most I have met seemed very friendly." he adds, looking at the odd outfit and appearance of that person, "You are a friend of Kari?" he asks softly as he eats a bit of meat.

The mention of the elf task makes him almost choke, chuckling, "Yeah, they wanted to poke all over, a couple tried to tug my pelt off my back."
Taro     "I hope you're enjoying them?" Taro asks Harriet. He tried to account for the two sisters' differing tastes when picking out their gifts. Then, attention returns to Alden since he seems to have his. He looks over to the digimon when he's addressed...though he averts his gaze a bit when he catches him in the middle of a bite. "I'm a valued associate of hers, yes." Pause. "The toy drive went well, then?"
Kari Wolf     Zarenna tries one of the cooked meats that Alden has brought, gesturing to the things she's brought. "You're welcome to try the food, Alden. It's mostly cured fish prepped like it's done on my homeworld, leafy greens, and vegetables."
"They're very challenging." is all Harriet says to Taro in response, settling down near the jelly cans (small drink/coolant containers that Alden probably hasn't encountered before) and selecting a strawberry-flavored one to sip delicately.
Kari grins. "Yeah, they thought you were a super cute reindeer, Alden! Taro helped master build Harrier, he's like a... um... stepdad?" She says excitedly. "The toy drive was great! There were kids who put their toys in because they wanted to help Santa."
Alden      Alden smiles and ooohs at the offer for food, reaching around to gently grab a little bit, "Thank you!" he says happily, trying the new meal, while listening to the others. He chuckles cutely and blushes, "Thank you, I felt a bit silly with the horns." he says, before he blinks. "Ohh, you are good at making machines?" he asks Taro, impressed.
Taro     Taro gives a nod to Harriet, seeming assuming that that was a 'yes'. Who wouldn't enjoy a good challenge? "If you'd like to talk about the reading later, I'd be happy to do so."
While Zarenna and Alden tuck into their meals, he busies himself with pouring a cup of steaming tea from the thermos he brought. Black tea with lemon.
He has a sip of that tea before answering Alden, then lowers the cup to about chest hight in gesture to himself. "At the risk of immodesty, I am one of the best engineers in Neo Arcadia, yes." A quick glance is made over to Zarenna, tilting his head slightly in question. "Would I be a stepfather? Human family terms seem so tricky to apply to non-human ones."
Kari Wolf     Zarenna shrugs. "I'm not even sure." She doesn't mention that Kari has... odd ideas sometimes. "I guess you could look at it that way? We both worked on Harriet's design."
Harriet gives Taro and Zarenna an odd confused look, since she's the one being talked about. Kari startles Harriet by flumping down next to her taller sister and grabbing a random jelly can, which seems to be labeled 'pistachio ice cream'.
Alden      Alden nods a bit, eyes wide at the mention of him being the best, "Wow." he chirps to Taro, before looking back at the two, small creatures, "I can barely use my D-arc, haha." he says softly, pointing to the device on his belt.

"Sounds amazing." he says softly, moving to reach for a jelly can.
Taro     "Mm." A noncommittal sound. He doesn't seem concerned about the sorting out of family relationships, it more being an abstract subject for futher thought.
Taro looks over at the device on Alden's belt when the digimon points it out. "Interesting...what does it do, if I may ask?"
Kari Wolf     Zarenna hmms and glances over at the D-Arc, curious.
Kari and Harriet both give Alden a strange look. "You wouldn't enjoy jelly cans, Alden. They're coolant for shinki and can cause digestive tract problems in non-shinki." Harriet quickly adds.
Alden Alden smiles and reaches for the item on his belt. It is a handheld device, with a card reader, a screen and a series of buttons. "It's my D-arc." he begins to explain, showing it to Taro and Zarenna, "It can be used to check my status, health, and some details." The screen shows info like an rpg status window, including his species name. "It can be used with digimon cards to give me more power, and help me digivolve..." he says. He shares as much.
Taro     "If he's closer to us than to Zarenna, then they may not hurt him," Taro opins. "Still, it may be best to bypass them, Alden."
The D-arc is looked upon with appraising interest, though he's polite and looks without reaching out to touch. "Then it is a sort of tracking and interface device?"
Kari Wolf     Zarenna hmms. "So it's like a status monitor and add-on manager, Alden?"
Alden Alden eeps and rops the can where it was, "Oh, good thing I didn't open it!" he says, chuckling, "I wonder if metal garurumon can eat one tho." he muses, rubbing his chin, before focusing on teh questions, "Well, it is used to track, monitor my status... can even modify my data with cards." he says. "I can even enter the device and remain inside for as long as I want, but it is not really useful most of the time, unless I want to sneak somewhere with the help of someone else."
Taro     Taro sips his tea thoughtfully as Alden further explains the device to them, and he's silent for a few moments after that. "As I said before, I know little about your kind..." He makes an open-palmed gesture at the D-arc with his free hand. "Is this how you move between cyberspace and the physical world, then? And what allows you to maintain a physical form here on this side?"
Kari Wolf     Zarenna watches her two 'daughters' as Alden explains. "So you're a piece of software that's manifested in the real world? Come to think of it, didn't you meet a digimon, Kari?"
"Yes, master! His name was Duke and I brought him home because he was really hungry and he ate all the meat in the fridge... oh..." Kari has this look of clearly knowing she got herself in trouble when she sees the look on Zarenna's face.
Alden      Alden listens to the explanation, "I am made of data... besides that I have no clue how that works." he says softly, "In my home dimension... well, in my universe, I come from a place linked to the computers and all that." he says, "I don't need the device to be solid here, no, if I had to I'd be just fine without it." he tells Taro, before nodding to Zarenna and tilting his head at the story, chuckling a bit, "Wow, he must have been really hungry, I don't think I would eat that much."
Taro     Taro makes no comment at Kari's accidental admission or Zarenna's reaction to it. It's been noticed, but Alden is to him more interesting than an empty fridge. "I see...I'll admit I'm curious as to how you exist here in physical space. We have living data that we call cyber-elves who can do such, but they are much smaller than you."
