Guest Kevin     After giving a quick call out to Psyber, Kevin relayed a location to him. The priest had, afterall, found a spot off to the side on the path towards the Skygarden where he and his 'guest' in a sense could sit off to the side where they can't be interrupted. Kevin knows that recent events seem to have troubled a few people- and even events before he returned back to Njorun Station...
He talked to Ries about some of his worries- and as a good assisting knight, she simply suggested a few things, and some situations where he could try to make the situations more comfortable for the individuals he'll be contacting. Whatever the suggestion was for Psyber is now sitting in a bag on a table near his seat- a couple of comfortable chairs that are sometimes used just to wait and meet with someone before going on further into one of the various specific locations beyond.
This isn't for that, though. He may be one of the Grals Ritter of the Septian Church, but he's also a priest- in a way, anyway. He still works for the Union's medical team and seeing potential issues with people is one of the methods of preventative medicine, so to speak.
Kevin's posture is pretty bad, though. He's slouched in the chair, waiting patiently. It's not a bad thing to do. He doesn't get the opportunity to sit down and just /wait/ like this. Since the priest is always on the move, he doesn't often get times to just sit and wait. It's kind of nice to be off his feet, too.
Guest Psyber     In all honesty, the best suggestion of a gift to give Psyber is probably a bottle of scotch and some Hostess Snack Cakes. He's a man of simple pleasures. Either way, he takes the bag and places it in his lap, smiling at Kevin as he sits down across from him.

"I admit, I'm surprised you called me out, not that I'd turn you down. How are you doing tonight?" He asks as he places the bag down on the ground to the side of his chair. He smiles a bit and looks at the man across from him. He didn't have much of a negative impression of Kevin, since he hadn't seen him in years and he had been fairly nice even before that.

"And tell me, how has your return to active service been?"
Guest Kevin     Then Psyber's going to find a surprise! Kevin's plan was not that out of the blue- it may not be scotch and there may not be hostess cakes, but there's an unlabeled brown glass bottle inside the bag. It's been sealed with a swing top, and a wrapping around the lid.
Once Psyber investigates the bag's contents, Kevin explains them: "We get imports through Arteria all the time, an' I was able to get you a bottle of liquor from Calvard. It might be like..." He pauses, looking away for a moment, trying to think about other names in the multiverse. "...it's a rice liquor. It's... like..." Then, "Oh, soju, is it?" It takes a bit longer than in the past. Dredging up old memories requires a lot of efford sometimes!
"Apparently it's really good. I'll admit that I've had alcohol here an' there, but I generally abstain." It's a control issue, then. "So I can only take the word of th' shopkeeper on it being good. It's kind of strong, though. So be careful."
The priest sits up, then digs through his bag, and pulls out a small glass and offers it to Psyber if he wants to try it. ...but there's also the note that Kevin has his own bottle. This one's in clear glass, and is a little more yellow-orange colored. Probably some sort of juice, though.
"I'm doin' good, though." There's a pop as the swing top on his bottle is opened. He's already got a glass of his own and is pouring his drink into it. "It's been cold and rainy back in Arteria, so Njorun's weather is a nice change. An' active service has been good. Trying to ease myself into it, anyway."
The priest laughs, but that smile is short lived, before Kevin asks, "...I did call you out specifically because I was wantin' to check on you. When everything happened with Elliana..." That's the first part, anyway. Take it one step at a time.
Guest Psyber     Psyber slides the placed glass over to himself, "Ah, something like Soju. I rarely get to drink eastern-inspired alcohol much. This will be a nice treat, thank you," He says with a genuine smile. He opens the top and pours a good measure into the glass before sniffing and then sipping it, "Mmph. It's got a nice texture, very gentle."

He is, on some level, dancing around answering a much more pressing question. And he shows the nervousness in his thoughts by the fact that his fingers play at the rim of the glass in front of him while he thinks. He doesn't look dark or brooding, more like he's trying to think out a good way to explain himself to Kevin.

"Ah yes, that day. Aheh, I was very upset there, wasn't I? But then, one of my best friends had died in front of me, so I think anyone would be," He muses the topic over, looking down at the glass, "He, the Emperor that is, took something from me very dear." He muses, a finger running around the rim of his glass to create a soft and melodic ringing noise.

"But then, that assessment will vary depending on who you ask. After everything she did, I'm sure there are many who will be glad to see her dead."
Guest Kevin     "Good! Glad t' hear it." Kevin's clearly pleased with the assesment of the drink. "Calvard's havin' a lot of immigration issues right now, but th' people comin' from the east are bringing some great things with them. This is fairly popular." Booze is always popular, though.
The priest keeps his own glass in both hands and he leans forward slightly. Sharp blue eyes are focused on Psyber, and he's intending to catch all the little details, the little twitches and tells. They can be as important as what is actually said, afterall.
"You have every right t' be upset." Finally Kevin shifts back a little bit. "I didn't realize th' two of you were good friends." There's a bit of a sigh, before he says. "I'm not really one t' talk in judging her. I know that there are people who would be pleased to see her gone... but there's no need to celebrate th' death of someone- especially when they made the decision to assist us at th' last minute."
He waves his free hand, though. That aspect isn't important. "...th' important question is, are you gonna be okay? I mean, it's a really silly question, when I think about it, but it's one I wanted t' have the opportunity to ask privately, without others listening in. It is very rough to lose someone you're close to."
Guest Psyber     Psyber seems to take a very, very long time to gather his thoughts, "Elliana and I were close. I think it would be simple for you to understand this, as a fellow man of religion. There is a verse in my world, which says 'Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.'." He says gently, "It's easy to be friends with someone who is good and who does good. But it is, at times, necessary to be friends with those who would otherwise have none. To be a light to someone who is lost in the darkness. This was how I came to befriend Elliana Fairchild."

It seems to be the genuine sentiment towards Elliana, though it hints Psyber is still hiding some feelings about her. Overall, though, it's very clear that he's not lying in his explanation. Simply editing small pieces to avoid embarassment on his own part. He picks up his glass and takes a soft sip, setting the glass down a moment later, "Will I be okay? Mm... that is... complex."

"For years, I have been one of the pillars of the Union. Many people rely on me to keep themselves stable, and because of that, I am required to be okay for the benefit of others," He lets out an awkward laugh, "Duty mandates it. But."

He seems to become more serious, "Yes. I will be okay, I think. I have lost Elliana, but she would not want it to destroy me. She would rather I carry her legacy and her sacrifice onward. And... I think for the first time in a very long time, I can say I feel optimistic about things moving forward."
Guest Kevin     There's almost a flinch at the quoted scripture. Kevin keeps his composure, though... but Psyber may notice that the priest is rubbing at the side of his neck. It's that mark there. There are conflicting thoughts going on in his head, for sure... but nothing's said. He's not there for his own problems.
It's better to deal with something else.
"I remember Elliana's betrayal." The priest finally says in an even tone. He lowers his hand from his neck, and reaches for his glass to clasp it between both hands. "An' I understand what you mean, to a degree. It was hard to feel malice towards her afterwards, despite her turnin' on us the way she did.
"There are some how commit unforgivable acts, and while she harmed us in the process... I felt that there was..." There's a pause, and he closes his eyes. "...there was somethin' from her factions that didn't quite put her on that scale."
Now, George. Though Kevin doesn't speak of it, but he remembers George's poor reaction to Elliana's betrayal. The then-novice priest wanted to see her killed for it.
"Death can always be a complex thing t' wrap your head around." When the priest finally speaks, he looks back to Psyber. Whether he's picked up on anything unspoken, it's never mentioned. "An' duty is a very heavy thing t' deal with. I speak this with experience- ya can't let yourself crumble under it because of what you do for those around you."
There's a faint smile as Psyber brings up how he feels, though. "I'm glad to hear that you think you'll be okay, however. An' yer right. From what I remember of Elliana- she may have turned and made herself an enemy of th' Union, but her death is still a fairly powerful loss- but one she made in an act to see that her land would be saved. That, I think, was an honorable death, an' I agree. She would not want t' see you lose your footing an' fall as well.
"When a person chooses t' give their life," he says this- almost in a quiet tone- "it is t' make sure that those they see with them can live on a good life. When we went to Annu, at one point we all were 'dead.' Or so we were led to believe. It would've been an unfortunate thing if we didn't come back an' our efforts still failed."
He sits up then shakes his head. "...but that's unimportant now. What is important is that yer gonna be okay. But I also want you to know that if you need anythin', I'm here t' help."
Guest Psyber     "Annu changed me. Annu continues to shape who I am today. It was a terrible, terrible event. But..." He trails off and seems to lose himself in debating how much more he should say, "I do know the Scars can be worked on. You can't erase them, but they know when someone has tried to repent. And mine eventually evolved a mechanism to heal them in the people who are worthy." Psyber holds up his right hand. It glows a soft white, wreathed with fire.

"But it works mysteriously and uncertainly," He adds, looking back down at his drink. He seems to smile a moment later, "Elliana was... who she was. Imagine being a child whose parents were killed in front of her. Who lived on the street. She wanted to change the world because she saw the worst of it. No person ever embodied the flaws of a corrupt and Godless world like Terra Majora more than her. She was the monster her own world forged."

He shakes his head, "I could use your help in the future, if you wish to join my office as a freelancer, actually. I could donate your share of pay to your church, if you'd like. But, some time down the line, I'm going to have need for someone that can handle spirits and divine power. And I think you will be perfect for that, if you'll lend me your help."

Psyber extends his hand out to Kevin for a handshake.
Guest Kevin     There's a faint tilt before Kevin adds, "I think Annu changed all o' us. But hopefully for th' better in many cases." There's a silence from the priest as Psyber raises his hand, then a faint smile. "Nothin' like that, in my case. Jus' a diversion from a path I was walking. Changin' me here, though..." --Kevin places a hand over his heart, "...changes my strength an' my faith, though."
He was broken after Annu- but then again, Kevin was already broken to begin with. A priest with anger management issues? That's more than a little odd.
"I don't need t' imagine that, to a degree. What she didn't have, however, was someone to pick her up in her time of need, and thus she needed someone in th' end. I'm glad you were there for her- despite her being a monster. Clearly, it seems to have done good for you, as well."
What Kevin didn't expect, though, was the offer to join Psyber's office. He leans back slightly, raising an eyebrow. The expression is most definitely a bewildered one, but it soon turns into a grin as he voices exactly that: "I didn't expect that, goin' into this. Yer gonna need t' let Ries in too, of course- if ya don't mind th' fact that my assistant is actually my little sister." But he waves a hand. "...I try t' keep that on th' down-low. I don't like people thinkin' she gets special favors."
...beyond being the assistant to someone of Kevin's rank, anyway. But he doesn't advertise his rank either.
He doesn't quite shake Psyber's hand. He's clearly considering the offer. Then he eventually nods. "Sure. I think I spent a ton of my time in th' station for medical. I should do somethin' different this time 'round. I may do a lot of healing an' protecting, but I'm sure you've seen that I most certainly have skills in other areas too."
He reaches forward to take Psyber's hand in a firm handshake, with a pleasant smile at that.
