Owner Pose
Project MORDRED Guard duty is not the most enjoyable of affairs, but it's important none the less. MORDRED is inside his Armour, the black metal machine of war is standing atop one of the grey citadel's towers. Glowing red eyes reveal the fifteen foot tall machine to be more than just a metal statue meant to inspire dread, and in the Union's databases it could be identified as Glare-NT, one of only two Armours of this model (and easily distuingished from Calibur-N by not being white.) Its owner, the Confederate Knight Errant, Sir MORDRED. The machine doesn't stir.
Mai Tokiha     In a place that looked ready for total war at any moment, there was something that was rather... Out of place. From the warp gate comes a small child in what looks like Japanese middle school uniform with a huge sword bag over her shoulder. Her pigtails sway as she sniffs around the area and tries to get a lay on the land. When she's satisfied, she looks towards the citadel not to far in the distance and starts walking.

Mordred would probably be able to see her, given it seems she's not trying to be stealthy. Just walking along, sniffing the area. Mikoto knew that she wanted to help the Union, and she'd decided to do so starting here. Though she didn't know exactly what to expect, either. Thankfully, she had all she needed over her shoulder. A little smile comes to her face as she pats the bag.
Project MORDRED MORDRED spots the arrival easily, sensors are designed a little better than to miss that kind of thing. He draws his XTE Lancepack and charges up a simple, swift blast of superheated plasma, meant to hit the ground within a few meters of Mikoto, but not to actually hit. This is followed up be a loudly broadcast warning, both by audio and various radio frequencies. "This is restricted territory belonging to the Confederacy. I am Sir MORDRED, and it is my assigned duty to ensure only authorized personnel are present. You do not have authorization, if you do not turn around I am authorized to employ lethal force."
Mai Tokiha     Mikoto hadn't even noticed she'd been spotted until she heard the sound of something charging, and then firing. When the ball of plasma detonates in front of her, she quickly hops back and settles on her hands and feet, looking around for the source. Seeing that another one wasn't coming, Mikoto stands back up and glares at Mordred from her spot on the ground. "I am Mikoto Minagi! The Union told me that this place was taken from them. I'm going to get it back!" What a simple speech. Slowly she opens up her sword bag and draws out a sword bigger than she was. By rights, she shouldn't be able to carry it, but she tosses her sword bag aside, resting the tip on the ground. Her eyes scan quickly, searching for a pathway to her opponent.
Project MORDRED MORDRED makes it easy for Mikoto to find a pathway to her opponent, Glare-NT's thrusters activate, and the fifteen foot tall Armour rapidly approaches, hitting the ground hard, resulting in pieces of rock on the ground being scattered in all directions, including Mikoto's. "It is true that this place has switched hands frequently, but the Union's claim is no stronger than ours. Should you wish to press it, miss Minagi, I will defend ours. May honour guide our duel."
Mai Tokiha      Mikoto crouches low as the huge machine dropped in front of her, losing her footing and going back down to her hands and feet. It seems that Mordred's immense size doesn't seem to trouble her overmuch, though she does crane her neck a bit to get the full view of what she's fighting. His strange speech makes her shrug as she narrows her eyes. Once she's got a good grasp of her opponent, she crouches down and springs forward with impressive quickness, snarling like a furious cat as she did so. Her aim is to get between Mordred's legs as her sword follows, trying to strike Mordred's foot. Should he be hit, he might be surprised--the weight behind the strike is enormous!
Project MORDRED Apparently MORDRED knows better than to underestimate little girls who claim to be retaking things for the Union. And despite his Armour's size, speed is clearly present, Mikoto's sword cuts into Glare-NT's foot, mildly damaging a thruster and causing some coolant to leak before the flow is stopped by self-repair systems, but the fact that foot is moving in the same direction as the b lade much limits the damage.

The thrusters even cause MORDRED to retreat further, forcing Mikoto to either give chase or resort to ranged attacks if she wishes to keep fighting him. MORDRED places his XTE Lancepack against his hip, the tip glowing as it charges up hydrogen plasma before letting a modest blast fly. This time, he's not aiming to miss. "Should you at some point come to the conclusion that your defeat is inevitable, do not hesitate to yield so I can allow you to retreat without further violence."
Mai Tokiha      Mikoto lets out an annoyed growl as she feels the lack of a clean cut. Furthermore, now he's running away! Mikoto takes off in a sprint once Mordred starts backing away, but that means she's unable to dodge the shot aimed straight for her face. Instead, she raises her sword in front of her as quickly as she can. When it detonates, she's flung back, only just managing to keep hold of her sword. She turns her backwards momentum into a quick roll and again goes to her hand and feet. He's too far to chase after if he's just going to shoot her.

Mordred's words only serve to make her even more annoyed. "I'm going to win for Haguro!" She snarls. Suddenly, she begins to spin as she moves forward, the black blade drawing sparks from the ground as she spins and spins. When she finally stops, she lifts the blade and holds it vertically over the ground. "Miroku!" She cries. A black void forms where she plunges her sword, a similar void forming at Mordred's feet. Quite suddenly, a spike of black metal tries to spear Mordred through his leg. Apparently, she's trying to cripple his movement.
Project MORDRED Glare-NT's other foot is speared by that spike, an unexpected development, and he's forced to stay immobile. At least, relatively so, for the time being. Coolant leaks alongside the metal edge stuck inside. "I commend your drive, and I did not mean to imply that it currently appears to inevitable. Just that if at some point it does, you have that option. I have no desire to kill you, but if I must kill you to achieve victory, I will not hesitate."

The XTE Lancepack charges up again, sending several quick blasts of superheated plasma flying. While they are certainly fast, the main problem with them is that they are extremely hot. Tens of thousands of degrees hot. "May the best warrior win, miss Minagi."
Mai Tokiha      Sadly, Mikoto has no real means of defense in this case. With her objective complete, she removes her sword from the ground and starts to charge forward. Not long after the sword is gone, the spike withdraws back into the ground and the portal disappears, but might've given her enough time to charge in. Only she's getting shot at again. Once again, she raises her sword to defend herself, but she lets out pained gasps as each superheated blob got near her. Surprisingly her sword is still intact, but she's thrown back again, coming to a rolling stop before she can slowly pick herself up again.

Burn marks cover her arms, a couple splashes of them on her cheek and just below her eye. Even with these injuries, she starts moving again, sprinting as quickly as she can while her sword drags behind her. She's able to cover ground with amazing speed. When she's close enough, she jumps, snarling again as she tries to bury her sword in this robot's chest.
Project MORDRED It's not until it's almost too late that MORDRED realizes where that sword is going, the weapon digs deep through Glare-NT's armour, and even pierces the flesh of the relatively squishy pilot inside. Though at least it's not in the vitals, that arm wound hurts a lot, and it bleeds too. "Tsk. You bled me." There's a degree of surprise there, along with some mild anger or frustration.

From this close, MORDRED decides to change approaches, his Lancepack is returned to the back only for a six feet long razor-thin blade to be drawn from its sheath. The Monofilament Broadsword is quickly used to retaliate, its mass surprisingly high for how thin the weapon is.
Mai Tokiha      The middle schooler lets out a triumphant cry as her sword plunges into the robot's chest successfully, even though she's left dangling from her sword like an idiot. She's able to get her feet against him and pull her sword out, but when she hits the ground again she's swatted by Mordred's return stroke. The monofilament edge gets a good score against her side, despite her ducking behind her sword, and the blow sends her reeling again, managing to barely roll through it. As she's about to get up, she lets out a pained snarl as red begins to stain her uniform.

Now, however, they're sword to sword. Mordred's immense strength was a problem, and Mikoto knows she can't easily get at his chest again. So the best idea was to make it fall. Mikoto dashes in a circle towards Mordred's rear, but instead of trying to encircle him she springs for the Armor's knee. Jumping into the air, she brings her full weight into a spinning strike.
Project MORDRED MORDRED rolls with the blow, falling onto the ground, one more crunching sound signifies a thruster has broken down, and then the matching thruster on the opposite end disables itself. Several bits of armour, including where Glare-NT was just hit, are dented and showing signs of weakness, but the Armour rises and, albeit initially somewhat unsteadily. After the self-repair systems adjust for the changes in center of mass, the Knight's Armour remains floating just a dozen feet above the ground, near Mikoto, and the Knight draws his lancepack again, charging up a larger plasma blast.
Mai Tokiha      Mikoto's initial cheer at watching the Armor go down quickly goes away when he starts freaking floating. Before she can try to get in again, another round of plasma comes towards her, way too big to be just blocked with her sword. As the shot flies in, Mikoto knows she can't move to dodge in her state. Just as the plasma bolt is about to annihilate her, a strange thing happens. Three small red stylized flames spring up and start to spin in front of her. A shield of flame just manages to keep Mikoto from being vaporized, but the force still sends her flying back again, screaming and groaning as she hits the dirt. THis time, when she tries to get up, she falters.

A shadow falls over Mordred as a voice speaks out clearly. "Enough! You've proven your point. She can't beat you." The source would be a woman who seems to be in a waitress outfit, with a red scarf wrapped over her nose and mouth to cover her face. Golden rings of fire spin around her ankles and wrists, giving off a humming sound--by the way she's floating, it seems they help her fly. "Please don't make me hurt you for this."
Project MORDRED MORDRED seems slightly surprised by that appearance, "My apologies. I did not mean to humiliate her, had she at any time decided to retreat I would not have continued fighting her. As it is, however, I am a Confederate Knight assigned to defend this location. She has come to claim it for the Union, duty demands I use all means available to protect the Rookery." He lowers his lancepack, though he doesn't let go of it. "And I wouldn't say she cannot beat me. At worst she's unlikely to defeat me, and even for that I do not yet know enough to say for certain. She's proven to be a capable opponent. If she wishes to retreat, or you can convince her to, I will not stand in the way. If attempts to claim the Rookery continue, I will not hesitate to defend it. The choice is yours."
Mai Tokiha      Mai lets out a thankful sigh that is covered up by her scarf. He wasn't going to do anything as long as she didn't. That was fine. "Thanks," she says simply, before floating over to a now-sitting Mikoto. "We need to leave, Mikoto. You're badly hurt, and that thing..." She glances at it and shakes her head. "Jeez, why were you fighting a freaking Gundam? It's a good thing I got here when I did..."

Mikoto glares past Mai's leg for a few moments before finally looking up at her. "I can fight!" She protests, bringing herself up to her knees. She takes hold of her sword and tries to stand again, but nearly falls before Mai catches her. Despite an initial struggle, Mai doesn't let her pull away.

After helping Mikoto settle on her back, Mai begins hovering again, "I'm going to the warp gate," she announces. "Peacefully. So please just do what you promised." Once she's said her piece, she starts speeding towards the warp gate again.
Project MORDRED "It's a suit of Armour called Glare-NT. One of only two suits of Armour of its kind. The other, Calibur-N, belongs to my father." MORDRED corrects calmly, returning his lancepack to its proper position. "I am Sir MORDRED, Knight Errant. Eldest son of the High King. Your friend was an interesting challenge, I hope she will recover swiftly." He makes no attempts to attack further.
