Sanary Rondel      Sanary had some suspicions about what was eating at the Zaibatsu's resident science expert, but she needed to know for sure. Someone had to cheer the girl up, and who better than the medic?

... Maybe a lot of other people, actually, but Sanary will have to do! It's for that reason that she shows up at Xiao's lab, clutching a book under one arm (Magic Particle Physics) and a paper bag inside a plastic bag smelling strongly of greasy, fried food around the other's wrist. It takes a bit of doing, but she does manage to knock on the door a few times before switching back to using her staff as a cane.

Would this work? Maybe, maybe not, but she'd have to try! Worst case scenario, fried food binge.
Xiao Li Yu      After yesterday's little incident, Xiao had retreated campus grounds and made her way back to her lab. The place she'd usually be anyway when not traipsing about the Multiverse, or going to school. Her little excursion into Hydaelyn last saw her come into contact with a bout of corrupted Aether. A substance foreign to her world.

As such, it couldn't be removed by wa of Esuna, or any ther traditional recovery magics. The pain was awful, but Xiao just grinned and bore with it for the most part.

Right now, she was seated in front of her desk, by the lab's door. There were piles of books around her computer and a garbled mess of code on screen. It looked like she wasn't actually doing anything logical. It also looked like she hadn't gotten any sleep for a good, long while now.

A knock at the door roused her out of her trance long enough to make her realize someone was at the door. "...Oh." Better go see who that was. She stood shakily and strode over to the door, pressing a button and letting it slide aside, revealing Sanary on the other end.

"...Miss Rondel?" Xiao arched a brow. "I don't...believe we have an appointment scheduled." She looked up, and then down. And then tilted her head slightly. "Or did I forget...?"
Sanary Rondel      Sanary raises her hand in a brief wave, stumbling a bit to catch the book once it falls out from under her. "Hey, Xiao. No appointments today. Just checking in to see how you're doing." Although she offers a bright grin at first, it's quickly replaced with a look of concern when she notices those telltale signs that Xiao hadn't slept properly.

"You.. Uh. You look like hell. I brought food in case you haven't eaten yet." She raises that bag of fried something-or-another next, some of the grease already going through the paper back and easily visible even with the plastic bag holding that in. "Brought a book from Souji, too. He thought it might help with..."

A pause. "...Don't remember what, but it looks... Science-y. But anyway." She clears her throat, teetering a bit while peering at Xiao. "You holding up okay?"
Xiao Li Yu      "Oh. Okay," Xiao mumbled distantly, turning and waltzing back over to her chair before plopping down. She did look like hell. She also didn't eat. The prospect of a new book would usually have excited her, but now...she was just gone.

"Yes, thank you. ...Come in, I guess. Can't have you standing out there all this time." She rubbed the side of her head, seemingly in pain, but who knew for sure? "I'm fine...just feeling a bit..." Pause, for whatever reason. "-under the weather."

She managed a smile at that. "But I will be fine soon. It will pass. I'm sure." That last bit made it seem like she wasn't sure.
Sanary Rondel      Even Sanary can tell that Xiao really /is/ out of it. Setting the staff to the side of the doorway, she follows the scientist over to her chair, looking around for a safe spot to put that food down. Then again, with so much stuff strewn about and her own unfamiliarity with it all... Eventually, she just settles for holding onto the bag.

"Sick, eh? I might have something for that. Mm.. Is it a cold or fever or..." She pauses again as she pulls some paper plates out of the bag, stacking several of them together before setting several fried chicken wings and spring rolls on it and holding it out to Xiao.

"Just how much blood did you lose? If that's what it is, I've got plenty to spare. Not like I'll be running around much for a while, anyway." She laughs lightly at that last part, although it's not visibly clear what she's referring to.
Xiao Li Yu      Xiao stares at her computer screen silently. A few seconds passed before she realised. "...Oh. What is this jargon?" She mumbled to herself, going back to work, clearing up that gibberish and typing proper code. Meanwhile, she listened vaguely to Sanary. "...It's not a traditional sickness. In fact, I'm not sick at all. It's just a bout of corrupted magic. It should pass soon."
r
She repeated that last bit before finally turning to Sanary. "Mmn?" Oh food. ...She hadn't eaten in a while. A day now? Two? She forgot. "Thank you." She took the plate, beginning to eat slowly and distractedly. "I haven't lost any blood. I don't have any injuries." She paused and then glanced over. "...Not running around? Why?" The researcher asked, in a subtle attempt to veer the subject away from herself.
Sanary Rondel      Yep. Xiao's definitely out of it, if that lack of understanding her own work is any indication. Sanary tuts lightly like she's seen on TV and listens to her explanation of just what had happened, although it barely makes any sense to her even then. She's heard of dark magic before, but corrupted magic is something else entirely.

"Is there any way to make it pass sooner? Like... Uncorrupting magic?" The lack of physical injuries or conventional illness does make it easier in a sense, but also significantly harder from her lack of experience in dealing with this sort of thing.Still, the fact that Xiao /is/ eating is somewhat reassuring. "As long as you make sure to get some sleep, too. And... Other daily stuff."

She clears her throat lightly when the topic is shifted towards her, another light chuckle escaping the healer. "Oh... Nothing serious. Foot got cut off, reattached. Just need to take it easy for a while so it doesn't heal back on the wrong way."
Xiao Li Yu      Xiao just chuckled a bit at Sanary's questions. "Apparently casting excess magic and simply waiting it out should be fine. That's what I've been doing in any case." A shrug followed and then she continued on her food. Yes, at least she was eating. She'd eat if food was put in front of her, but she seemed to just forget otherwise. Huh.

"Sleep...right." Was the girl's mildly dismissive answer. Sleep was not something she had the luxury of partaking in. Not that she'd actually tell anyone that.

As Sanary talked about herself, Xiao arched a brow at the mention of a foot being cut off. "...Really now." She paused, chewed, swallowed, and then went on. "...You always seem to get into trouble." A glance was given towards Sanary's feet then. "...And yet you came here."
Sanary Rondel      "That's... Huh. Makes sense, actually. Just don't go overboard on those ether things." Sanary shivers briefly as she recalls what had happened the last time. "It's.. Not fun crashing on those."

The healer looks rather satisfied when Xiao eats, even pulling out a spring roll from the bag to munch on herself. Crispy, oily, and full of questionable vegetables and meat bits! "I'll watch you sleep if I have to." She pauses, then shakes her head. "... Or maybe not that. Uh. But try to sleep, alright? You'll do better work when your not falling over."

There's another laugh when the topic turns back to herself, and Sanary waves a hand dismissively while finishing off her spring roll. "Yeah, well. Would've gone better, but... LEarning experience and all. Besides, better me than Souji or Jinx, right? Doubt you'd get any sleep with them staring at you the whole time."
Xiao Li Yu      Xiao paused.

"...I'm fine. I don't need someone to stand here watching me." She insisted, staring down at her mostly eaten plate of food. Not the healthiest stuff, but who cares? Not her right now.

"I'll be fine." She repeated again after a moment of thought, managing a small smile in the end.

     It looked forced.
Sanary Rondel      Concern is still evident on Sanary's face as Xiao eats, and she doesn't look all that convinced by that smile. Still, she stands up and moves over to give the scientist a light pat on shoulder. "I'll come by again tomorrow. More food, probably something healthier than this." She pauses. "Unless you want this stuff again. But... Try to sleep, okay? Ain't gonna force you to, but..."

She pauses again, then shrugs and heads for the door to pick up her staff. "... Pretend I said something compelling just. But really. If you do need help with whatever, hit me up on the comms. Got it?"
Xiao Li Yu      "....."

Xiao let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Inwardly relieved that Sanary decided not to be pushy, she nodded. "Okay. I'll try to sleep." She wouldn't, but that was for her to know. The pain was too great. There would be no sleep.

A moment passed, and her hand came to the side of her head again. "...Thanks." That was about all she could say right now. "Try not to get your feet cut off again as well." She smirked at that.

Well, it wouldn't be Xiao Li Yu without a comment like that, pain and corruption or not.
