Lyria Mason Kara'Adin the home city of Lyria Mason's family or so she's aware. She'd got a odd project for a cooking class at the school. Either way it was an excuse to eat better and she couldn't complain Sanary also had been in said class and was being dragged along for collecting materials. The city is perhaps strange to Sanary some sections are bight new and modern as anything on Chocobo, in others there's hulks of old ships that have been turned into living places and a massive ship yard can be seen in the distance as well. The market's on the water, Phoenix is actually in the sky so things are bright and sunny. It's also tropical too in terms of enviorment and the locals are very much dressed like Lyria either looking ready for beach time or well not wearing too much. SAnary may indeed be over dressed by the local standards.

"Hey we can even pick up something to eat before we head back too, you know Sanary!"
Sanary Rondel      Sanary is still a little woozy after the last night's events, but she's still in good enough condition to go to class! Unfortunately. Fortunately for her, though, today's class calls for food-related endeavors! And what better way to get classwork done than to have someone else along to do it for/with her?

Today, Sanary's dressed in her usual casual wear: A yellow t-shirt and shorts! Her left leg is bandaged up and padded quite thoroughly, though, and she has a bit of a hobble to her step. Still, better safe than sorry (even if it's itching like crazy).

"Food sounds good, yeah.. I mean, might as well if we're here, right?" She laughs lightly and glances around rapidly, peering at the various storefronts. "Know where the good places are? I... DOn't think I've been around here yet."
Lyria Mason Also another thing is tattoos a lot of the locals have various tattoso some like the ones on Lyria's arms, or face, but that's only one sort of set they seem to be a /thing/ here only some young children seem to not have any.

"I know a few spots and are you sure you don't want to get one of the school's white mages to look at that?"

She notes about the leg but that's the last of it as she looks over her mpad's list of things to get.

"Come on this way the maket stalls near the water have the best stuff, cheaper too. Most of the students at the school have no idea how much of a markup there is on sea food."

She grins widly as she bounces almost along towards the water.
Sanary Rondel      Sanary raises an eyebrow at the mention of white mages, glancing down at her leg for a moment before chuckling and shaking her head. "Nah, it's fine. Medical's got me loaded up on meds, so I can't even feel it. Thanks, though." Another laugh leaves the girl, and she takes note of the tattooed faces before turning back to Lyria.

And then she says the magic word: Cheaper. Her eye practically lights up at that, and she does a fairly decent job at keeping up with Lyria. She does trail behind a bit, of course, but she's not going to let that injury stop her from getting to cheap food! "Food's expensive. Does get a lot easier to afford with our pay, though." Another laugh, and she's off! "Still... Doesn't hurt to look for good deals~ Now let's see what they got!"
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason says "All right then if your handled."

She grins a little bit more at the mention on food.

"Depends but if your pying out of a 'supermarket' your paying too much. Most of these stalls are run by small fishing boats or large indepenant ones. They sell lower than say a market on Chocobo would!"

Shge seems to be in a good mood. There's all sorts of fish, shell fish, and more alien sea food for sale. Many are in tanks and still alive for the moment to keep them as fresh as possible. One merchant catches sight of Lyria and Sanary calling out.

"Young ladies! Come sample my wares you won't find better prices in the entire city, I checked!"

While the stall looks low tech here and there there's signs of modern gear, such as the man has a Mpad which he's chekcing over his compedator's prices from the looks of it as he waves the pair of women in.
Sanary Rondel      "Really? Huh... Those prices looked pretty good at that one place I've been going to, though." Sanary shrugs lightly and follows Lyria while eyeing each of the stalls with that curious glint still in her eye. There's a sense of familiarity with the layout of this place, and she even nods to a few fishermen passing by. "Then again... Stuff /is/ a lot pricier the further from the farms back home, so I guess that makes sense."

Her attention is grabbed easily enough by the merchant calling out to them, and she glances at Lyria first before actually moving over. "Mm.. Why not, eh? Might be able to pick up some good stuff for now or later or whenever." She grins lightly at her fellow student before heading to that stall. "Afternoon, mister. What do you got for cheap today?"
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason Says "I'll take a look then!"

Lyria also loves to haggle too she's a pirate queens daugher err I mean a totally legit shipping company ownner! She's busy looking over things while the man looks to Sanary for a moment.

"Cod, Mithril Head, and Levithans scales are my best deals today."
Sanary Rondel      A blank stare crosses Sanary's face at the merchant's response, and she glances over at Lyria while trying to buy herself some time to figure out just what that actually meant. Was he selling fish or weapon parts? Sure, maybe something made of the scales of... Whatever a Leviathan was would make a good axe or something, but what if it really was just something to eat?

"Uh... Sure, I'll take some of those. And... You got any salmon?" She pauses for a moment, then digs a slip of paper out of her pocket and looks it over quickly. She slips it back in, then moves over and claps her hands on Lyria's shoulders to try and surprise her! "Find anything good?"
Lyria Mason The Man tilts his head and humms.

"I might have some it tends to be picked up by a lot of restutants early in the day to be honest but I might have some left. LEt me go check."

The man diappears into the back while anotehr employee goes to start getting the fish Sanary got, Lyria seems to know what she's doing heck she's even looking like she's about ready to haggles.

"Yup, they got some Adamtie Prawns!"
Sanary Rondel      The first part just draws another blank look from Sanary, but she does understand the words 'prawns'! "Really? Perfect! We... Wait. Did we need that one for the assignment?" She reaches into her pocket for that slip of paper again, then shrugs and keeps peering at everything else up for sale.

"Ah, we'll find what we need as we go. No sense getting too worked up over it. Hmm..." There's another pause as she picks up what looks like a round, spiky fish, then turns to Lyria. "Say. You have any idea how long it usually takes someone to pick up a new type of magic? Like.. Without any training before it." She snickers as she wiggles that blowfish-like thing around, closing it in itself before setting that aside in her buy pile. Better to get that sorted earlier than later!

"Reminds me, actually... What's your specialty, anyway?"
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason s:Says to her friend "Yes Prawns I got a few kilos of them."

She's hanging over some gil while haggling ont he fish buit it doesn't take too long. She looks at her for a moment tilting her head at her friend once the payment is done.

"Well I'm not sure for off worlders to be honest? Given eveyrone has magic here. I'm not one to ask but it tends to manfest in your early teens and go from there. Well some refinement of your magics. AS for my jobs? Geomancer and Machinist."
Sanary Rondel      By the time Sanary sorts out her own purchases, she's spending quite a bit on too much food for one person to safely eat in a week. Also, some Leviathan scales. Who knows when those might come in handy?

"So that's how... Hmm. Just wondering since I want to learn how to use more magic, but I'm not really sure where to start." She chuckles lightly and holds her hand up, a bit of green light coming out of it for a brief moment. "I can do the healing thing pretty well now, but... I wanna do more. And without relying on tools all the time. Like... Like setting things on fire. Or defensive bubbles. Or..."

She pauses, then raises an eyebrow at Lyria. "... What's a Machinist do, anyway? Is that some kind of... I dunno. Machine magic or something?"
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason pays for the stuff they are icing up and she thinks for a moment about Sanary's own magic. It's different but she's clearly got some some level of skill. Healers along are more vauable to her than those who can blow stuff up. After all what good is all the damage you can do if you can't heal up right and healing has more uses than just for fighting.

"Curious I'm not sure how we'd class you to be honest, as for me? I work with machines build them, make them, I have an affity for them I guess. You seen the robots I have made right? I'm also quite darn handy with pistols and other contratiopns I made as well? As for the Geomancy before you ask I can interact with the elements of a place and call upon it for aid."

Shew grins as she takes the packages of seafood and grins at the man.

"Well might see you later then sir."

She takes his business card off the counter and will slip that to some people later.
Sanary Rondel      "I've seen a bit. Looks interesting, especially with the whole... I dunno. Just the idea of mixing magic with machines sounds useful, you know? Like... Making something anyone can use without having to understand it first." Sanary chuckles and rubs the back of her neck, furrowing her brow at the talk of Geomancy. "That Geomancy stuff sounds a little complicated, though... What if you're in a place that's nothing but steel and chemicals or something? Does that give you machine powers, too?"

She taps a finger on her chin. "That would be real useful, too. Putting it all together with the... Whatever healing that I do." She shrugs. "I wouldn't know how to class it, either. I mean, white magic's supposed to hurt the undead, right? Last time I tried it, it just... DIdn't do anything at all."
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason says "It's never been a thing the idea of no magic in a world is alien in such a way I have problems trying to descibe it to someone whose not from Galendia I'm afraid. As for the Geomancy? Yes it's very depeended on what's around me. I will not be able to make use of water if i'm in the middle of a lava field for example. It could depend upon a world's magic and how it works? Yours is different from ours correct?"
Sanary Rondel      "Makes sense... Closest I can even come to using magic like yours-er. Galiandan magic is through magitech. Just pumping my own stuff in there until it does what I want." Sanary chuckles again and slings the bag over her shoulder, still a little wobbly on her feet. "The stuff from my world is different, yeah. It's... Actually kinda like what I do with the axe: Throw magic energy into a staff or a book, then use the effect on our target. Except the stuff from my world breaks really fast for... Some reason. Powerful, but limited."
Lyria Mason Lyria Mason says "That world's yes strange their magitech there's something I can't put my finger on it I admit. But somethign almost feels off about it she doesn't voice this however.

"You seem to be oding well at the school though and humm I can get that much MP is behing about eveyrthing, magic particles that is. Curious perhaps there's issues with how your forge weapons or the raw materials?"
Sanary Rondel      "It's not that weird, is it?" Sanary laughs and rubs the back of her neck lightly, tilting her head slowly before wincing at the light crack coming from it. Bad sleep posture, perhaps? "Our weapons are just... Well, weapons. I heard there's some magical weapons, but even those work kinda like my axe."

She furrows her brow. "Just... A lot more prone to breaking. The tomes' pages fall out, the staves crack... Everything just seems more fragile back home." Sanary sighs and sticks a hand in her pocket. "Makes it hard to keep stuff sometimes. Then again, it might just be because all we got back home was from the merchants' reject piles and whatever we looted from bandits. Not a whole lot of quality stuff to choose from."

"Reminds me, though... THose magic particles. Do you ever have trouble recovering MP or whatever if you use too much of it at once?"
