Guest Lapis Lazuli     After reuniting with an old 'friend', Lapis took to leaving the gem warship abruptly by the power of her wings. She didn't /need/ escape pods or fancy flying gem aircraft to get around. Better, because that likely aided her in slipping away unnoticed. Fortunate, perhaps, otherwise given the discussion she'd been apart of might lead her conspirators to label her a traitor definitively. Whether or not that is a fact remains to be seen.

Here in the giant forests, Lapis is able to get at least a moment of solitude. It took her a while to descend from her high altitude flight back into the woodlands, but it was worth it. Purposefully so, she walks on the surface of a lake accompanied by a butte of rocks and associated waterfall. The ripples in the water don't see to disturb her gait.

Likely thinking herself in private, she twirls and dances like a music box figurine on the water's surface, skirt twirling and waving with her movements.
Sunstone     Sunstone wasn't going out of her way to find Lapis, but as it turns out, the detector she's got seems to detect this specific gem most of the time anyways. Probably because of the sheer power she seems to have compared to most of the ones that Sunstone's run across. One way or another, she's led through the Great Forest to the edge of the lake. There, she stares out into the center and at the sight of Lapis with that same vacant smile that she does with anything else she's curious about.

Soon she sits down on a nearby rock and starts tinkering with her resonance scanner, trying to retune it. When a soft 'crk' noise of the artificial gemstone core breaking sounds, she twitches from how it startles her.

She tosses the device into the lake and rests her chin in her hands, propping her elbows against her knees. She looks back to Lapis. She's a fair distance off, so it might've taken a moment to notice she's there.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis seems to be in a moment of meditation with her dance, but there doesn't seem to be a 1-2-3-4-5 measurement to her dance, more like a 1-2-3-4-2-4-5-2-1 rhythm, but somehow it just keeps flowing from one bow, twirl, dip, and stretch to the next. Given the distance of the shore from the middle of the lake, it could very well take some time for Lapis to notice Sunstone. Especially with her eyes closed.

When the device falls beneath the surface of the water, Lapis opens her eyes slowly completes her dance. As if carried by currents, the device float to the surface near Lapis and she lifts it up before looking directly at Sunstone with a puzzled expression.

The blue gem's wings sprout suddenly and lift her away from the surface of the water, carrying her like the currents did with the device back to the shore where Sunstone perches. The device is in her hand, and when she lands, she seems a little melancholy. Did something happen?

"Hello Sunstone," Lapis greets holding the device back out to the aforementioned gem.
Sunstone     That ability to manipulate water like that draws Sunstone's gaze. She can pick out the details in the water's surface as the blue gem does all sorts of things with the lake that isn't normal for it, the artificial currents drawing her vision. She watches Lapis' approach, and her normally empty smile turns into a warmer one, her back straightening and her hands resting against the rock's surface. She scans Lapis' face and tilts her head, already seeming to catch on to her mood.

Her softens her expression to something more like concern, and she wonders, "Are you okay, Lapis?" She reaches out to accept the device, momentarily amused that she's given back the item she discarded in frustration.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis steps back after giving Sunstone the detector. It may be broken, but everything deserves a second chance, right? Lowering herself back onto the water's surface, her wings disperse into little droplets that seem to hover around her and catch light.

For once, she looks tired. Just, really really tired. There are lines under her eyes that speak of this stress. Peridot would be furious if she knew that Lapis were about to give yet /more/ information to the enemy. Getting chummy with Sunstone. Would it be enough to put her in a cell then? "Jasper is back," Lapis says softly.
Sunstone     Sunstone looks down at the device for a while, then puts it away in that coat pocket -- she doesn't store things in her gem like others do for some reason -- and regards Lapis more carefully. She processes those three words more seriously than anything else. And then she says, "That's bad. But you're not in a prison cell, so there's that," and then she thinks on the confusing part of this. She's melancholy... because... She struggles to maintain her smiley face.

"... here," she offers, patting the spot next to her. Indicating for Lapis to sit down, maybe.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     "If Peridot knew everything, I would be." Lapis replies with a surprising level of certainty. She seems to almost want to say more, but stops herself midthought. Instead she walks over the water and onto the dirt shores in an effortless transition of mediums. Turning at the spot indicated, she slowly climbs down and sits next to Sunstone with her knees at her chest.

Looking over at Sunstone with a worried expression, Lapis says, "Everything is going to change from now on." Turning to look back at the water, she crosses her arms over her knees. "Peridot has made a deal with a confederate. Vega. He's going to try to kill you. I don't know when."
Sunstone     Sunstone watches Lapis approach, and maintains her smile even as she seems to curl up. That information about Peridot sending Vega, however, just melts all of her good cheer away like it had been hit by horrible acid. She glowers forward instead of at Lapis for a moment or three, especially because she remembers going to play video games with Peridot and Steven... She shakes her head slowly, and then reaches over with her arm to put it around Lapis' shoulders and hug her to the brighter gem's side.

"Shh," she urges. And she'd just hold Lapis like that. Because it's not a great day for either of them, now. A lot to think about.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     "You'll need to hide, or somehow convince them to..." Lapis starts after breaking the terrible news about Vega. "..He's so powerful.." But then she's dragged in by that loose arm, and the soft noise that Sunstone makes. Her eyes go wide and she goes stiff as she leans on Sunstone, almost about to break away and ask what she thinks she's doing.

But it's oddly comfortable. After a moment of resistance, she settles and eases into it with a dark blue burn to her cheeks. Gently she leans her head on Sunstone's shoulder and half-closes her eyes. There is so much that Lapis cannot tell her, and so much already that she has that she shouldn't have. But for all the things Lapis has done to Sunstone, all of the attacks and mistrust, this one gem has been decent throughout. Her eyes close fully, body still without the need to the breathe.
Sunstone     After a while, Sunstone lets go of Lapis, and regards her carefully. It's a thoughtful look.

"I will be your friend," she declares, "Which means I have to help you through whatever is bothering you whenever you need me to." Like she read it from a book, especially because she waggles one of her fingers. "You need to figure out what you actually want to do, and whether that's even feasible," she says to Lapis in a softer voice, "Because where you are right now is dangerous. You're working with people who are going to treat you as an enemy and a traitor, and you're pining for a world that's going to do the same." A beat. "You said you want to see Homeworld again... But what if you found a new Home?"

It's a longshot of a suggestion, but she's trying to help Lapis out.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis opens her eyes when she's released, and she sits up on her own again. What Sunstone says about being her friend actually gives her pause and she looks over. "Really?" She smiles a little, but the smile fades when she goes on to talk about her position and what she wants to do. She knows what she wants to do. It's just a constant balancing act. A dangerous balancing act without a safety net at the bottom.

"No.. Not yet. Homeworld has to be out there." Lapis says with a bit of hope, "Everything else is." She's not entirely sure anymore what would happen if she were to come back to homeworld at this point, after what she'd done. But it was all she knew, everything she was, and leaving that behind was intimdating.

Slowly standing up, she dusts off her skirt. For a moment she looks up to the sky, and by extension the stars, veiled as they were by the atmosphere. Referring back to her warning she says, "Be prepared for Vega."

The water droplets around her coalesce back into wings, and they spread as if readying for liftoff. Looking back once more to Sunstone, "Goodbye." A small, awkward smile. Then she lifts off in flight.
