Guest Lapis Lazuli     It's been a while since Lapis left the bridge after fighting with Peridot. For that time inbetween, she'd been mostly keeping to herself to recoup. For a while she had meditated at the top of the ship, looking over the kindergarten. From that position she could have intervened if anything threatened the kindergarten, but nothing did. Then she moved back down into the ship to do some sketching and reading. Mostly just busywork as Lapis caught herself up on what records Peridot did have on gem history over the past thousand or more years.

After a while the restlessness caught up to her. In that downtime she'd been able to rest up and her clothing and scratches healed up, as part of her projection of self. Returning to her room, she accessed the musical controls of the atmosphere console to play something along a synth-waltz with heavy piano influence. As the music fills the room with artificial pops and beeps combined with the flowing piano backtrack, Lapis steps out to the center of the mostly bare room to begin dancing. Without a partner she's perfectly able to dance on her own, a mix of ballerina, improv, and classical ballroom. Her movement is unrestrained and free-flowing, as she just about glides over the hard floor in twirls and dips. Her skirt flows with her movements with the ribbon on her back as she reflects on the past couple days.
Peridot     Peridot had continued tidying up the command bridge. For her, anger was always quick to arrive, and lingered before it left. Jasper would have praised her for how she utilized her cunning to turn an enemy into an ally. For all intents and purposes, Peridot considered Jasper a subordinate. Even Yellow Diamond, her boss would have been pleased with how delicately and cleverly she'd handled a bad situation against a superior foe. Her zen had been ruined!

But time had passed, and she eventually cooled off. She was still annoyed, but didn't quite feel the white hot anger from before. She had cleaned the Command bridge- at least as much as she intended on doing today, there was still a lot to be done. For all the rage she had felt, Lapis was still her only ally. The single being out of a few billion... perhaps a few hundred billion tht truly cared about the contiuation of gem kind. Things were far less complicated on Homeworld when she never needed to rely on anyone for anything.

She walked past her door on the way to her own quarters. Her work had been done for the day, when she paused, looking to Lapis out of the corner of her eye. She herld her stance for a moment as she drank the scene in. Lapis was dancing. This was useful intel. Mad or not, Peridot still intended on practicing fusion again. Wasn't part of the problem was that she didn't know how Lapis danced? She continued to pause and observe quietly. Perhaps largely unaware of how creepy that may come off as.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     For a while, Lapis dances on unaware that she's being observed by someone else. Her eyes remain closed, openly opening long enough in intervals to make sure she's not about to run into anything. Though for all of her practiced movement, she seems to do fine, like she's done this so many times before. The truth is, a lot of gems have. Dancing being such a prevalent part of their society, her movements come out almost effortless.

When Lapis does open her eyes enough to spot someone in the doorway, she finishes with a small flourish to prevent ending so abruptly. The point of this was for her own meditation, after all, and seeing Peridot in the doorway isn't a huge and shocking surprise to her. There's no shame here.

Straightening up her posture, Lapis turns towards the door with a quizzical expression, more curious than angry. She had time to cool down after their fight, and she didn't seem particularly willing to start another. "How long have you been watching?" Lapis asks curiously.
Peridot     Peridot didn't looked away when she was spotted. She simply continued to watch with a stoic expression, until she is pressed into question.  At which point she cleared her throat. "Not long." She answered, stretching the truth only a little. "I was making observations about our inherent mismatch of dance styles and calculating ways to... overcome such differences. With regards to fusion."

"You are more flexible when it comes to certain maneuvers. Where I can be rigid." She finally breaks her gaze, looking to the ceiling. "This will perhaps result in some challenges which seem insurmountable... unless we find a compromise."

She looked back to Lapis. "In the way we dance together."
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Something about Peridot just makes Lapis rather serious sometimes. Maybe it's just their history together. Things are so different now, though, that Lapis just tries to relax a little bit and let down her guard. "We have to work together," Lapis finally agrees, "If Jasper can do it, so can you."

For a moment, Lapis doesn't seem to realize what she'd just said. She pauses for a moment, wide eyed and pupils shrunked. Nothing incriminating, but her cheeks do flush a little. Eager to move the subject on, Lapis suggests helpfully, "Why not try dancing yourself? Then I'll join you."
Peridot     Peridots head tilted some at that. Not that she immediately suspected Lapis of foul play, but rather... Jasper was old. Far older than Peridot. So the idea that Jasper had ever fused didn't surprise her. What did surprise her was that Jasper had shared that kind of information with Lapis. "When did you and Jasper talk?" She pondered out loud. She recalled the trip from Homeworld to earth being a rather.. solemn one.

But when she is pressed to dance. She pursed her lips, but doesn't initially say anything. Almost as though she was about to refuse. Her brows knit. Until finally, her expression relaxes. Her shoulders lower and her arms hang at her sides. Her fingers flex a few times before they dangle loosely at the end of her wrist, as if suspect by strings. She was trying to loosen up.  She inhaled. "Alright."

Peridot began with a gyrating of her shoulders and hips. Slow, and steady. Her motion was no less robotic and pop-like than before, but it was more controlled. More slow. Peridot was still dancing to a style unique to her, but instead of coming out of the gate swinging- she started at a more even pace. The first measure ended with her raising her arm, her head and her fingers making a gesture toward Lapis that invited her over, closer.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis bites the corner of her lip when Peridot asks about when she interacted with Jasper. There were a few times before that, including when they were riding the battleship down to Earth to taunt the CGs after firing them. Lapis was being manhandled by Jasper, though they didn't exactly talk. Perhaps it was when everyone separated. As far as anyone but Jasper, Steven, and the Crystal Gems know, Lapis was in the prison the whole time, even after the ship lifted off.

When Peridot gives in and decides she'll dance, Lapis moves to the side of the room to let Peridot take center stage. She still doesn't close the door behind them, but she fiddles with the environmental controls to lower her own music and let Peridot's style go on unimpeded.

From the side, Lapis watches Peridot dance. She nods a bit to herself in satisfaction. Every gem has their own preferred style, and it's always deeply personal, often reflecting on the individual performer. When Peridot motions for Lapis to join in, she nods and moves to join in while the hall piano arpeggios pick up in the background. The environmental controller in the background mixes this with an almost spacey trance and a hitempo drum beat.

With a twirl on the balls of her feet, Lapis moves to Peridot's side. Again that familiar liquid grace fills her motif, combined with some conductive hand measures that flow down the curve of her body. A sideways glance is cast over to Peridot as she offers her hand.
Peridot     Peridot takes the hand, taking Lapis a step over into a twirl as she raised her arm. Utilizing her unique form as her fingers leave her hand, letting their fingers interlocked as she turns with Lapis until her back pressed into hers as they spun together. Then concludes the twirl by facing her once more.

Opposite of Lapis, Peridot raises her other hand and begin to move in a motion that seemed to be building potential energy. Creating the illusion of moving the energy  with quick gestures and robotic motions of her joints. She transitioned to popping her shoulders, and continued to do so until it went down her leg, then back up to her shoulders once more before being transitioned to the  right, where she bent her elbow attempting to complete the illusion by transferring the energy to Lapis with a flick of her wrist. Meanwhile, Peridot watched her face.
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis follows through the dance, twirling and stepping with Peridot's guidance. Her fingers remain interlocked with Peridot's even as they lose connection with her arm briefly. Kind of the advantage you get like remote-dancing with Lapis. This doesn't seem to startle her, even as she presses back up against Peridot. Lapis' dance, much like her personality, is very dynamic. When the energy is transferred to her, she transfers into a side step, twirl and dip with her arms spread at an angle.

All the while, Peridot can see the gem on Lapis' back glowing that brilliant white. Despite their fighting, she's still able to manage to get in some sync with Peridot. Twisting again, her hand comes back up to Peridot's, joining her fingers back to where they normally are for Peridot, and she faces the green gem with closed eyes and a faint smile.
Peridot     As they danced, the gem on Peridots forehead likewise began to light up with a bright neon green bathing both of them in its glow. This was it. If she chose to continue dancing, it would result in a fusion. One Peridot was immensely curious to discover what manner of resulting entity would spring forth from it.

But her movement slowed to a crawl. She couldn't fuse here, in the barracks. The resulting creation would severely damage this section of the ship. Peridot had no way of knowing the mass of whoever would come out the other end of this dance, and it was too risky. For now, it was enough to know they had done it. Peridot finally came to a stop, with Lapis mid dip; the green gem holding her weight and preventing her from falling. She had her own eyes closed without even realizing it. Slowly she opened them, realizing her face was really close to Lapis's. She suddenly shot up straight awkwardly, helping Lapis back to her feet.

"It uh.. We could have did it that time." She said with a faint smile, one of mild disbelief. "I mean, obviously, we can't complete it... here, I mean in this room. But, if we wanted to we totally could have finished that time!" Her smile went to a grin. "Nothing was stopping us!"
Guest Lapis Lazuli     Lapis dips in Peridot's arms, to what would normally be the completion of their fusion. Seemingly so absorbed into the dance, as she should be, Lapis is ready to just go right in to it. Peridot wisely holds it back, though. Whatever would come forth from this fusion would likely be so large as to completely destroy this room, if not the surrounding rooms as well.

Still in Peridot's arms, Lapis opens her eyes slowly to look at Peridot before Peridot brings her back to her feet and goes right back to her normal, rigid self. To the least of which, Lapis can't help but laugh a little at. "We could have, that was great!" She can barely contain her smile.

"That was the right decision." Lapis agrees with a small nod, smile fading. "You did good, Peridot." Compliments are in order for the performance, and Lapis offers them. In the background, the music dies down.

"Next time we'll go all the way, I promise." Lapis offers finally.
