Yunomi Stadler     THE GREAT FOREST -- a section where the woods has a long, cold stream running through it, a place alive with the sounds of late summer. While cincaidas buzz beneath the shade of the canopy above, and squirrels and chipmunks scitter below, the summer air is cooler here, with the promise of a rainstorm coming soon.

Yunomi had needed time away from the city. Her hands are wrapped in strips of cloth, hiding bandages. She was wearing just a T-shirt and cargo shorts out here, a backpack over her back, and little Pidge orbiting her head.

She also has a basset hound with her, ona leash, who's excitedly sniffing around, tail wagging and heavy paws thudding against the ground. Chuff chuff! ka-CHOO! And the dog's ears shake and waggle as he shakes his head.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura has a deck of cards with her.

Well, that's... no that's pretty normal. But what is a bit odd is that, not only does she have the deck that Clow Reed made, she's also looking through a deck of Duel Monsters cards. Huh.

She's just walking through the forest, not really looking where she's going. Luckily, she has the Wood floating by her shoulder to move obstacles like tree roots, branches or TREES out of her way.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi glances back, and gives a wry smile at Sakura. "Oi! Sakura! Using The Wood against the woods is cheating! If you keep your eyes on those pieces of cardboard, you'll miss what I brought you out for!" she calls back with a laugh. Reximus barks in that low 'wrroooff!' in agreement, his tail wagging though before he catches scent of something, and is distracted by the smell, face to the ground, snuffling along.

Yunomi herself steps over some roots. "So... did you decide to deconstruct Kaibaland?"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura looks up - and trips over a root. Immediately, several woody stems shoot out of the ground to catch Sakura before she faceplants into the ground. The Wood does a little twirl at the chance to be helpful.

Once Sakura's managed to stand up, she rubs the back of her head. "...Sorry. I just kinda... I'm worried Kaiba's gonna do something, and if he decides to challenge me -again- I need to..." She trails off. "KaibaLand hasn't been totally proven to be illegal yet. It'll probably get demolished this week, though. By Toph." She grins a little bit.

She steps over to Yunomi, and... hugs!
Yunomi Stadler     The tanuki had emploeyd a few vines of her own, making them loop around to bolster THe WOod's stems. Oce Sakura is okay, Yunomi gives a sigh of releif, and rubs the back of her head, until Sakura hugs at her!

Yunomi gives a small laugh, and hugs on Sakura back, looping a arm around the other girl's shoulders. "IF he tries, don't try to beat him at his own game next time. Beat him at /your/ game." the tanuki replies. "I can see if I can gte some of the Izzet to help too. We do the whole 'shambling city block' thing to send older bits of Ravnica for recycling. I'm sure we could lend a hand."
Sakura Kinomoto     "But beating at his own game was so -satisfying-! Did you see it? I was all 'I summon this! Now I sacrifice it with this spell so I can summon THIS! And now I use THIS spell to also summon THIS!' and then he destroyed Tethys next turn which was annoying but..." She shakes her head. "And the last turn! It was all 'there's no way I can win unless I draw this one specific card' and then I DREW that one specific card it was amazing!"

She looks down. Headrub. "I think I might be turning into a nerd..."

She shakes her head, and puts her Duel Monsters cards away. Meanwhile, the Wood goes to investigate the dog. "...So why'd we come out here, anyway?"
Yunomi Stadler     "I technically work in civil engineering and archetecture of utility systems.... I'll always be a bigger nerd than you, Sakura~." Yunomi grins, and she shrugs. "I guess I just never saw the appeal of the card games, especially after those Planeswakers started appearing who used them. Did you know that one of them kept insisting I didn't belong in the Izzet? I mean, /please/, Niv-Mizzet /himself/ put me there, how could I not belong?" Yunomi adds, gently pulling on the leash to encourage Reximus to follow.. and then she gives a secretive little smile. "Oh, you'll see. Besides! It's a beautiful day for a nature hike!"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura gives a playful pout. "Does that mean you won't play even if I ask nicely and give you a deck that totally won't be designed specifically to lose to mine?" She giggles a little bit. Then she frowns. "...The fact that some people play a card game that fictionalises a real world totally separate from theirs is... kinda weird when I think about it..."

She huffs a bit. "...You're lucky I'm a jock," she says playfully, falling in step with Yunomi.

The Wood, meanwhile, sits on Reximus's head. The dog may be confused to learn she barely weighs anything.
Yunomi Stadler     "Ha! If we'd gone to school together, you know I would have been captain of the martial arts club, /and/ part of the library club. Besides, I grew up on the side of a mountain. This stuff? This is how I used to wander around back home and get into all sorts of trouble." Yunomi grins back. And she rubs the back of her neck a moment as she considers the idea thath er world might be fictionalized. And she gives a grimmace. "Ugh. I hope if Namamura's some place else's fiction, I didn't lose it. That'd be embarrassing."
Sakura Kinomoto     "Well, it got conquered by a guy from a totally different world, so... how would that even work?" Sakura frowns a bit, confused. "...Well. -I'm- captain of the cheerleading club, and the athletics club is still trying to scout me, so ha. Jockier." Nod.
Yunomi Stadler     "Must we label ourselves so? 'Nerd', 'jock', what does it all mean? Are they not just titles to divide the student body into cliques? I mean, we both use magic. And I'm a magical creature pretending to be a human in public. What does it all /mean/?" she asks, totally skirting answering anything having to do with home lost.

Reximus is totally fine with The Wood sitting on his head. He tail wags, and plods along with the two, snuffling into the air happily as PIdge orbits Yunomi, darting back and forth like a good security drone.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura pauses for a long few moments. "...Double rainbow?" she hazards after a couple of seconds, then bursts into a stream of giggles. "This conversation is silly. Let's talk about the reason you brought me out here instead."
Yunomi Stadler     "I told you, you'll see." Yunomi replies mysteriously, looking back over her shoulder at the other girl before she takes a turn off the hiking trail, and steps into the forest proper. "This way!" she calls back, and Reximus gives a bay, throwing his head back and howling.
Sakura Kinomoto     And the Wood is thrown off Reximus's head and goes flying! Good thing she can... fly. She easily stops herself, crosses her arms, and huffs a bit. Sakura can't help but giggle, and follows Yunomi. "Man, I've missed hanging out with you."
Yunomi Stadler     "I've... missed hanging out with a lot of people... my work in Ravnica just takes up so much time." The tanuki replies, lamely, and she pauses, to make sure that Sakura was following her, and Reximus happily lumbers through the brush, but she seems /determined/ not to be down around Sakura. Yunomi goes to scoop The Wood from the air, and set her on her own shoulder if the little sprite would let her.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura is equally determined to not be down around Yunomi! Maybe all this double-depression will actually do them some good?! "Yeah, my... stuff in Tomoeda kinda keeps me busy a lot too. Especially this past week." The Wood card is totally fine with Yunomi placing her on her shoulder. In fact, the little sprite actually hugs the side of Yunomi's head, getting a little giggle from Sakura in the process.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi gives a slight smile at the hugging sprite, and settles on her way, climbing over a few rocks, and gently easing Reximus around them. "Ugh. When did we become so responcible? It's like we're grown up or something." Yunomi laughs. "SO... are you joining in the WMATs this year?" she inquires, peering backwards to make sure Sakura makes it up over the rocks.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura giggles a bit. "It's what happens when you start having magical responsibilities when you're nine. And then join a multiversal war when you're eleven." Sakura also easily climbs over the rocks. "Hm? Oh, yeah. I'm in C bracket. -Just- scraped by, but I really want to fight Seikou this year."
Yunomi Stadler     The tanuki pauses a moment, and she gives a shrug. "If I were stronger, I'd consider getting involved... but I've been aroudn so long that... I'm pretty sure no one would be surprised by my moves. I took on Serori once, and very nearly beat her as I remember... I just don't think I could do that again." she trials off, and her shoulders sag slightly, before she pushes on. "But man! Let me tell you, never let Goblins design a sewage system. All. Kinds. Of. Wrong."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura hmms a bit. "I wonder if it'd be legal for me to lend you half my cards... That's totally throw people for a loop." Sakura grins a bit, then laughs. "I thought goblins were meant to be all... industrious and junk."
Yunomi Stadler     "INdustrius, yes. Clever at rerouting? No. Not all of them. I have no idea WHO designed that round, but it was such a pain. They tried to make it flow uphill. Can you see why that would not work?" she gives a wry grin, and Yunomi pauses a moment, to check her barings.
Sakura Kinomoto     "...Well if there was a lot of pressure..." Pause. She makes a face. "In which case, -ew-." She laughs a bit, streeeetching and looking up at the canopy above. "So, are we getting close?"
Yunomi Stadler     "Very nearly. Yunomi chides. "Why are you so impatient?" she gives a grin, and allows her ears and tail to pop now, away from the main road. One ear flicks upwards, the other listening to the sounds of the woods.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura hmms a bit. "Because you talked it up and made it all mysterious!" And also she really, -really- wants to keep her mind off that one specific thing gnawing at the back of her mind. "I am -so- jealous of your tail, by the way."
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi pauses, and glances back at her tail, and gives it a flick. "It is pretty great." she admits, and her eyes rise up to the other mage, and she gives a curled-lip smile. The one that made her consider trouble. "You could totally have a tail if you wanted."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura frowns a bit. "...No, I'm pretty sure I couldn't. I could make an illusion or one, or... switch bodies with you, if your magic resistance doesn't make you immune to that..." She isn't picking up Yunomi's trickstery grin.
Yunomi Stadler     "Oh. I wasn't considering switching bodies... I wonder what would happen, if you'd end up with shapeshifting powers and I'd end up with the Clow." she wonders, but pushes aside the thought for the moment.

"Well, what kind of tail would you want?" Yunomi inquires, her fingertips wiggling at her sides, gathering up mana.
Sakura Kinomoto     "Well, when Syaoran switched with Kero, he could fly... But I don't know if that's magic or not..." She frowns a little bit. "What sort of tail? Well, um. ... Squirrels have pretty neat tails. And tanuki, of course..." She's completely oblivious to the mana Yunomi is gathering. Isn't she meant to have magic senses?
Yunomi Stadler     "A squirrel tail? You mean really fluffy, with the curl at the end? You know how they're held up, right?" Yunomi inquires. Her ears flick forwards, focusing on Sakura. Reximus is busy snuffling something to the side. Her head tilts slightly, one ear cocking up. "Would you want ears as well?"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura giggles a bit. "Yeah! Squirrel tails are adorable." When Yunomi asks her about ears, she hmms. "Well, I guess? I mean, it'd look kinda silly, having an animal tail but no ears to match!" Pause. "Although animal ears with no -tail- to match seems to be a thing. For some reason..."
Yunomi Stadler     "Yeah, weird isn't it? I'd figure that you'd want the tails for balance and the ability to better feel which way the wind is turning, and not the ears. 'Cause without being able to process the audio information, seems kinda silly, right?" she gives a grin.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura ptus her arms behind her head, then hops down from the slight rise she's perched on. "Honestly I don't think a lot of people really understand shapeshifting or magic or anything like that." She frowns a little bit, glancing down at Yunomi's hand suddenly. "...What are you..."
Yunomi Stadler     And Yunomi executes the spell. Sakura would feel a sudden weight on her back, new sensation, fluff brushing against her neck! Also there was new weight on her head, swivelling around, in round, fluffy thins!

Yunomi gives a grin, and plucking up a leaf, she brings her hands aroudn it, charging another little bit of magic and she turns it into a hand-mirror to hand over to Sakura.
Sakura Kinomoto     Yunomi has to contend with Sakura's magic resistance... although she's not on edge and, frankly, Yunomi is actually powerful enough to punch through it anyway. Sakura yelps a bit as she suddenly feels her center of balance shift, nearly falling over in surprise. She takes the mirror, staring at herself.

"...I look -adorable-," she squeels, staring a bit, then looking around to peer at her tail. She ends up whapping herself in the face with it.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi gives a wince, the little bit of magical glamour withstanding the blow to the face. "It's... basically a little bit of shapeshifting magic applied to your clothes and some hair. It's really passive... you could probably cancel it yourself even if you wanted--" blow to the face with a tail! " -- ... to."

She gives a grin, and turns to the sprite on her shoulder. "What do you think, Wood?"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura reaches out and touches her new temporary tail. Touch touch. "Fluffy."

The Wood hmmms, one hand going to her chin. She hops off of Yunomi's shoulder, then floats over to her master. She holds up one hand - conjuring a single acorn with a flash of power. She then promptly conjures a vine, drills it through the acorn, then floats up to tie the homemade hair ornament into Sakura's hair.

She then floats back and gives a thumbs up.
Yunomi Stadler     "You're absolutely right, Wood. It was missing a little bit of something." Yunomi comments, and she gives a little smile.

"YEah, they're fluffy all right." Yunomi grins. "Just be careful. Once, I was hanging out with Chuck Hansen, and he reached up as I was mid-sentence and grabbed at my ears. I turned him into a sugar glider for his trouble... he made the most adorable, angry little possum ever."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura snickers a little bit. "Man. It's a good thing you're a good guy. I can't imagine what sort of chaos a villain with that sort of power could cause!" She flicks her tail a bit, trying to get used to it. "...So, shall we continue~?"
Yunomi Stadler     "Eh, I never used my powers to shapeshift enemies. It was easy to do to you -- I can concentrate. You're not fighting me. Chuck wasn't magical in the least and it took both of us by surprise... but facing someone who's trying to pull my insides out? Aaah, probably easier to just burn them with fire or fry them with lightning. ZAP!" Yunomi replies, the ZAP! resounding through the woods.

And she gives a grin. "It's not too far now."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura hmmms a bit. "...Yeah, I guess that makes sense." She holds her arms behind her head as they continue on. The Wood is now riding on the tip of her curled-up tail. "You'd better not just be leading me in circles or something."
Yunomi Stadler     "You got me. This was merely a ploy to get you completely lost in the woods in order to feed you to a pack of magical cannibalistic llamas." Yunomi replies jokingly. She pauses, and looks to her companion, giving a secretive little smile at the fluffy-eared and tailed Sakura.
Sakura Kinomoto     "Hweh?!" Sakura actually falls for it for a second! "...Wait. If they were cannibalistic llamas, I'd be fine!" She crosses her arms and huffs. And her ears flatten to match her pouty expression. It is unreasonably cute. "Jerk."
Yunomi Stadler     "Curses, saw through my double misdirection!" Yunomi laughs loudly, and goes to scramble back into the underbush, giving a whistle. "C'mon Rex! Let's go!" she calls to the dog, and the two rattle through vines and brush. "Watch your step, Sakura! There's a long drop coming!"
Sakura Kinomoto     "Hey, wait up!" Sakura complains, racing after Yunomi and laughing. While Sakura is almost unreasonably athletic, Yunomi does have the twin advantages of being a forest creature and also knowing this area better than Sakura, so Sakura is unlikely to actually catch up.
Yunomi Stadler     ANd as Sakura approaches, the forest opens up to the azure sky, the sun spilling onto the faded emeralds and dark spruce greens of the forest around. It's a gorge, a massive split in the earth, jagged rocks reaching up for the sky weathered by rain and snow. There's a long falls here, spilling out from a river, the droplets catching the brilliant light and the mist turning it into a valley of rainbows and clouds. Birds occasionally flit through, and the roar of water, from here, is obvious.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura comes racing out of the forest to the gorge, and very nearly just barrels right off it. Even though Yunomi warned her there was a drop! She teeters on the edge, flailing her arms about, before regaining her balance. "Yunomi?" she calls, looking around for where her friend went!
Yunomi Stadler     "Right behind you." Yunomi states, her hand on Sakura's pack to help steady her. Rex is snuffling by a basket, and Yunomi looks very, very worried!

"I'm... I'm sorry Sakura. I should have warned you that there was a /cliff/ instead of a /drop/." she whispers, and she grabs at Sakura's shoulder, and pulls her back from the edge, and pokes her head over. "... nevermind that we can both fly."
Sakura Kinomoto     One of the trees next to Sakura looks as though it's about to reach out and grab her. The Wood is looking rather relieved.

"Nnno, no, it's okay. I was the one who was running without seeing where I was going! ... Also yeah I keep the Fly in easy reach all the time in case I fall off something. Not that I have my wand out right now..."

But things usually work out fine anyway.
Yunomi Stadler     "I would have gotten you." Yunomi replies quietly. "I might suck as a guardian, but I'm pretty good as a friend."

The tanuki releases Sakura, now that she's sure she's safe, and walks over to the basket. A PICNIC BASKET.
Sakura Kinomoto     "You are amazing at being a friend. It's like you were born to be the friend of a ditzy mage who likes to pretend to be a magical girl, or something," Sakura responds, with a bright smile.

And then... picnic basket. "...H... hweh?" Stare. Blink blink.
Yunomi Stadler     "Eh, I'm pretty all right." Yunomi plays down Sakura's compliment, but heads over to the basket, and spreads out a blanket.

"So, this gorge is one of the prettiest places in the region... and after a hike, I figured you might want a bite to eat after the run." Yunomi gives a grin.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura peers at Yunomi, before kicking off her shoes and settling down onto the blanket. "Did you just... plant this here earlier?" She shakes her head a bit and laughs. "Well, thanks! It's very thoughtful of you. I usually just... go to the Castle if I'm hungry while out hiking, but." She giggles.
Yunomi Stadler     "Yeah." Yunomi replies sheepishly. "You seemed really intent on hanging out..." she flops down, and kicks off her hikers and removes her socks because /bare feet in grass is awesome/, and she takes out a bowl and some water, and pours it for Reximus. Reximus hapily laps up, the wrinkles on his face coming forward.

"I wanted to make it special. YOu're one of the best and the longest friends I've had int he Multiverse."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura gives a little smile. It seems kinda... sad, though. "You, too. You were, like. The first person to -be- my friend, after I... got lost. If it weren't for you I don't really know where I'd be now..."

She looks down at the basket, then promptly goes rooting around in it to find out what Yunomi packed! "Although every time we hang out is special, silly."
Yunomi Stadler     Sandwiches! Spicy-smelling meatstick things! Assorted slices of cheese packed in wax paper! Dried fruits that smell slightly spicy, some that Sakura might not recognize -- part of the wonders of living in Ravnica. /so/ much stuff.

THe tanuki leans back a moment, and looks up at t he sky, with a smile.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura promptly grabs a sandwich. "...Yunomi, I..." She pauses, looks down at her sammich, and takes a bite. "...I kinda had an ulterior motive to... this. I mean, we haven't seen each other properly in ages, and I really did want to do stuff and hang out! But there's this... thing that I've been. Trying to avoid thinking about. I was kinda hoping... This would help, but..."
Yunomi Stadler     "Anno?" Yunomi gives a questioning tic, and er ears perk up. She pushes herself to her elbows, one knee popping up as she turns to look at Sakura. "What's up, Sakura? ... are you okay?" she asks, looking the other girl over.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura looks down at the sandwich in her hands. She opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. So she closes her mouth again, swallows, takes a deep breath...

"I... That... that report I posted about the... the KaibaLand thing kinda left out... Left out something. Everyone... everyone who was there knows, so it's not like I'm... trying to..."

She trails off, then takes a deep breath. "I... killed someone," she admits. She sounds absolutely heartbroken as she admits it, with tears welling up in her eyes.
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi regards Sakura with a quiet gaze a moment, and she gets a pained expression, and a small nod, before she looks up to the sky.

"... you had to defend yourself." she replies quietly. She knows Sakura wouldn't wantonly take a life. Sakura, who was afraid of ghosts and hung around with her bakemono friends as if they were school chums. Yunomi didn't feel qualified to talk about this. This was above her.

And she sits up, thinking a moment before she turns to Sakura. Her ears prick forward, her tail curls slightly.
Sakura Kinomoto     "He... he was a monst-" She pauses. "He was a horrible person. He... he killed a lot of people, and bombed buildings and... and..." She has to stop talking for a few moments. "...So why doesn't that make me feel better?"
Yunomi Stadler     Yunomi's quiet for a few oments. She plucks a few blades of grass from the ground, and casts it into the wind.

"Because you're a good person." Yunomi replies. "Because you've got a good heart, and even when people make you angry, you never want to hurt them. Not really." she adds, and turns her gaze ovre to Sakura. "I'm probably one of the worst people to try and counsel you on this. I don't have a problem killing my enemies, because they have no problem killing me. I still carry their deaths as close as I carry Oya's, or Niv's, or Chuck's, because taking a life is only easy if you don't care."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura is quiet for a long while. Then: "I... I'm sorry. I didn't meant to make you feel..." She trails off, then stuffs the rest of her sandwich in her mouth and practically swallows it without chewing. She has to pound on her chest a bit to get it down.

"When I.." Cough. "When I first joined the Union, I was terrified I'd have to hurt someone. That's why I kept focusing so much on... on sealing and binding and stuff like that. But lately I've been... Doing less of that and..." She shakes her head. Spicy meatstick get! "...I'm sorry. This topic is terrible. Let's... talk about something else." Nom.
Yunomi Stadler     "It's not terrible." The Yokai replies. "It's life. I've spent all my life either of a victim of war, or involved with it in some way, and the Union is as much military as it is my family." Yunomi replies, and then she rubs the back of her head. "You're right..." she reaches over, and scritches of Reximus, who explores the blanket and that spicy beefstick that Sakura is holding, "... it's not a good lunchtime topic."
Sakura Kinomoto     "...I'm not sure you'd like this, pooch," Sakura says softly to the dog, before ripping off a bit of the meat and offering it to the dog anyway. She then takes a bit out of the rest of it. "S... so." She takes a deeeep breath. "One more card to go!" She says, chipperly. "And then I guess I won't feel..." She giggles. "When I first came to the Multiverse I felt so -empty-. But now that I have fifty two cards back... I feel almost the same as I did before. You know?"
Yunomi Stadler     "One more card to go." Yunomi agrees, and she leans back in the grass, taking a deep breath of the clean air. OH, you don't /get/ this in Ravnica. "What happens when you have all fifty three back?" she inquires, turning on her side. "... it's not going to summon some cepholopod elder god from the deep, is it?"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura can't help but giggle. Her good mood is very quickly reasserting itself. "I sure hope not! It didn't happen -last- time, but you never know with magic. Maybe the precise order I capture them in determines what happens~"
Yunomi Stadler     "Aah. Man-eating squidllamas. With hats. How terrifying." Yunomi gives a wry grin, and summons O-Togi into being. The old Sake jug is given a shake, and then she drinks from its mouth, and hands the bottle over to Sakura. "Lemonade. Half sugar. It's a little sour, but it's refreshing." she gives a bright grin.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura takes O-Togi, holding it surprisingly respectfully for a few moments - taking in its magical aura and so on - before taking a swig. She cringes a bit at the sourness. "Man, with your ability to make any drink and my ability to make fruits and sweets... We could totally throw a kickass party. Or something."
Yunomi Stadler     "YEah, the last time I took O-Togi to a party, Major Stark ended up handcuffed to a chair and I'm pretty sure someone broke the window of the restaurant. Good times." Yunomi recounts dryly, and she caught that cringe. Accepting the jug back, she takes it into her hands, and gives it a little swirl before handing it back. "NOw try. Should be much sweeter."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura giggles. "I heard about that." She freely gives the jug back, and accepts it again as it's passed back! She takes another sip... then nods her head. "That's better," she concludes. She scoots up a little closer to Yunomi. "We need to do this more often. Without, um. That. Bit in the middle. Let's not do that more often."
Yunomi Stadler     "I think everyone heard about that. MAjor Stark isn't exactly one to shy away from any of his stories." Yunomi gives a grin. The Yokai sits back up, looking out over the gorge as she considers,a nd then just runs a hand over her hair. "Aa, we should. I forgot what it's like to be out in nature. It feels like it's been forever since I've been in the sun."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura nods her head. "I spend most of my time in class. And when I'm not, I'm cooped up in an office or... in my bedroom doing homework." Pause. "Also the forest in Tomoeda is HAUNTED. So uh. Not much opportunity for nature walks, ne?"
Yunomi Stadler     "Sooo? Haunted with what? What could possibly be scarier than Kaiba and his little brother fanboy?" Yunomi inquires, peering over at Sakura with a small grin.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura gives Yunomi a blank look for a moment. "Yunomi, you -know- I'm scared of ghosts. And -I- know it's dumb and there's nothing they can do to hurt me and, honestly, they're just people who need help, but..." She shakes her head and sighs a bit.
Yunomi Stadler     "I know. I'm scared of a lot of things. I'm terrified of General Hall, for instance. Seriously, he's terrifying. And the wizard that visited Dun Realti." Yunomi answers, and she leans back a moment. "Would it help if I walked through the woods with you?" she inquires, her ears pricking up.
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura pauses. "It... might. You can see ghosts in my world. Although, um. The whole... thing I have with ghosts is kinda DUE to..." She chews on her lip. "You know my brother? He can see ghosts. Or... he could. I don't... really know what's up with his magic right now... But, the thing is, when I was little, I could sense presences, like he could, but I couldn't see ghosts. So he... he knew I could feel them and he'd tell me what they were and it just..." She trails off.
Yunomi Stadler     "They were squidllamas with hats, weren't they?" Yunomi asks, sympathetically, and forcing a segue into a different topic. "Man, Reximus has totally grown since I brought him home in my backpack from school."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura can't help but giggle. She reaches over to fuzzle the dog's head, scritching between his ears and generally fussing. She likes dogs. After all, one of her best friends is a canid! "I wasn't entirely aware you HAD a dog. I mean. I might have known, but it's... Not something I think about, I guess?"
Yunomi Stadler     "I don't talk about him much." Yunomi smiles. Rex tailwags, and sets his head in Sakura's lap, droopy ears focused on her, droopy eyes focused on the spicy meatstick in her hands. He can totally handle it!

"I moved him to Ravnica once I was established enough. He's kind of a curiosity."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura absently takes a bite out of her meaty snack while continuing to pet the doggy. "We don't have any pets. My neighbours have a cat who's a total jerk, though." Pet pet. "...Well, I mean. I have my Cards, and Kero, but they're... not really 'pets', right?" She laughs. "They are the reason I've sworn to myself to never get a pet, though. I have to take care of them already."
Yunomi Stadler     "Aa. I have the kits, the kodama, Albert and Reximus Prowl." Yunomi replies. "And my dad, sometimes. /Someone/ has to watch out for him."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura giggles. "My dad needs looking after sometimes, too. Especially when he works too much. Did you know sometimes he forgets to eat? One time I didn't see him for two days. I thought he was away, when I saw him stumble out of his office..."
Yunomi Stadler     "Mine does the same thing. He swears that he stores MRE's in his office though."

And Yunomi pauses, and looks out to the gorge. "... I think he really does."
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura looks out to the gorge as well. "...Given what I know of him? That would not surprise me."

Sakura is silent for a bit, as she reaches into the absket to snag another sandwich. Chew, chew. She's smiling, genuinely, so it seems her plan to trick Yunomi into cheering her up has succeeded.
Yunomi Stadler     Very cunning! Yunomi gives a grin. "Yeah. He probably does. That man is so prepared he could teach the boyscouts a thing or two." she states, and gives a bit of a laugh, leaning back and stretching her arms a bit. "It's a beautiful day, isn't it Sakura?"
Sakura Kinomoto     Sakura continues to smile, looking up at the sky. "Yeah. It is. This is what I love about the Multiverse. It's always a beautiful day somewhere. You just have to look."
