Evangeline      It has been very quiet around the base lately. The Strike Witches often seem to be out on missions or training runs, leaving Neuroi Girl alone much of the time. She has taken to sitting on the beach watching the waves roll against the shore. Sometimes other Strike Witches join her, but today, she is all alone.

Her shiny metallic skin glints gently in the bright sunlight as she sits, her legs stretched out in front of her, her arms at her sides, and her featureless face staring out over the water. She doesn't move at all, and even the wind does nothing, since her hair is not truly hair.
Corvo Attano     All alone... or is she? Because there would be a 'whf', and then she wouldn't be alone anymore. There's a figure there, on the beach with her, looking out over the waves. There's a moment of staring out over the water, before he's pulling the mask off, taking a drink from his ever-present canteen and then leaning back on his elbows, looking over at Evangeline, a soft smile on his weathered face.
Evangeline      The 'whf' causes Evangeline to look over slowly, then she floats over and seats herself beside Corvo before leaning against him lightly. "...hello...Corbo..." she says in that soft little voice of hers. She looks up at his smiling face, then tilts her head lightly. "...you fare well, I trust...?" she says. Apparently she's been listening to Faruja a bit too much.
Corvo Attano     He's leaning on one elbow, and the other arm is free to ease around Evangeline, his expression gentle and warm. "Evangeline..." a slight shift and a lean, and the brush of his lips against her forehead. At her slight Farujaing, his eyes sort of crease up in a smile. "I fare well enough." It's not true, but it's easier, and he smiles. His fingers brush across the metal of her face. "And you? How have you been dear one?"
Evangeline      Evangeline sits still as Corvo shows some tenderness, then her head tilts lightly to one side. "...I...am not strong...and the enemy Neuroi are no closer to becoming peaceful..." she says, lowering her head in an expression of disappointment. She pauses a moment, then wraps her sleeve-like arms around Corvo's middle. "...Yoshika says...hugs help one feel better...if one is feeling 'down'..."
Corvo Attano     He looks out over the water, watching the endless waves dance and wash in soft song along the shore. "...You are stronger than you think. There are many kinds of strength Evangeline. And you are far stronger than many I know." His arm is warm around her, and he's laying back on his back now, so that he can hug her a bit more properly, with both arms. He's got a few more scars, and he moves somewhat gingerly, but his love is untarnished, his smile soft. "...Perhaps I should seek out more myself. Just remember; if you ever... if there is, something missing, and you don't know what to do, trying a hug isn't a bad idea. And I'm always here for you..."
Evangeline      Evangeline is pulled down onto her back as well, but her legs don't stay down on the sand. They poke up into the air a few moments before she sees how Corvo is laying back. Then, her legs slowly lower down onto the sand again. "...and...I am always here for you...Corbo..." she says. There is a short pause, then she leans up and presses her face, where her lips would be if she had them, to Corvo's forehead, returning the gesture he showed her a few moments ago. "...hugs are nice..." she says after another moment.
Corvo Attano     He's quiet for a long time, just letting the music of the waves wash over him. He nods softly, his smile getting just ridiculous as she returns his gesture, amused by her falling-over antics. "I am glad." He doesn't have words for how glad. But then he doesn't have words for a lot of what's inside him. It seems almost to strangle him sometimes. But he doesn't say anything, just lets his fingers tighten softly on her shoulder, listening to the waves. "It will get better." He didn't even realize he was talking until he'd opened his mouth, but the words are true, he realizes as he says it. "It will get better. Even if everything is dark, and you don't think you can do it, it gets better. Never forget that."
Evangeline      Evangeline notices Corvo's huge smile, then reaches up toward her own face. Her slender fingers extend from her sleeve-like arm, then she traces a smile shape on her face before pausing a moment. She then lowers her arm again to rest around Corvo's middle. "...it will get better...even if everything is dark..." she repeats to herself. She is quiet again for several moments. Then, "...it got better...when I was in the Warlock...people came to save me..." she says. She looks over at the glowing blue stripe that now forms a U on her left shoulder, then over at the one on the right. "...it was very dark...but...I gained something from it..." she says.
Corvo Attano     "People love you Evangeline." His arm tightens warmly, the sun warming his flesh and her metal in turn. "The world is good, and life is wonderful. One of the things I hate so much- life is so wonderful, even when it's mean and thin and cold, it's still good, and people are so mercenary with each other's lives if not their own, sometimes even their own. And it's so pointless because life is good, and worth living, it really is." His finger traces over the U, expression thoughtful. "...I'm, glad, you're back with us Evangeline. There aren't words..."
Evangeline      Evangeline watches Corvo trace over that glowing line, then nods. "...life...is good...and many people are good...why do they have to fight...? ...why is fighting the first choice for people...?" she says, her slightly elastic metallic body squishing cutely when Corvo's arm tightens around her. "...I don't like fighting...but it seems to be the only way to get people to stop fighting..."
Corvo Attano     He smiles, but his face is pained, his expression exasperated. "A sick contradiction, but one all too common in these days. I know it's a cliche, but why can't we all just get along? I know disagreement is part of the human condition, but there's really no call to be sticking pointy things in your fellow man because you want to get your way."
Evangeline      "...or shooting them with bullets or lasers..." Evangeline adds. She is unsure what else to say after that, so after a long pause, she changes the subject. "...you have gotten far in the tournament...who are you fighting next...?" she asks.
Corvo Attano     He looks pained, embarrassed. "I'll be honest, these foreign names always throw me for a loop. She seems to weild a half of a pair of scissors..."
