Scene #2186: AWftF: Heavy Lies the Crown

Genghis Rex	The massive repair hangar of the Tyranno Citadel is electric with activity. Damaged Gigas tanks are in various states of repair, some Tyranno aircraft are undergoing routine maintenance; but most notably, in the center of it all, is the hulking Tarpits 3 mobile battle station, hunched over to the point where its chin is touching the ground. Repair workers scramble all about it's armor, some on scaffolding, some simply lashed to its angular armor. A cacophony of banging and clanking accompany showers of sparks that rain down from the dormant beast and skitter across the metallic grease covered floor. The majority of the personnel seem to be focused on getting Tarpits 3 battle ready again ... no doubt duct tape and bubble gum will be in short supply soon. Security in here doesn't seem to be as tight as it is outside, save for a group of watchful velociraptors who stand guard outside a gaping hole in the flank of the battle station, while the tip of a red tail flicks about - whoever it belongs to is clearly busy inside working on something.
Vegeta	"Genghis Rex!" Vegeta calls out in a booming voice, marching into the hanger and likely shoving away anyone who dares to stop his march. "I understand that you want to see me for something?" he asks, apparently recovered quite well from the battle. But that's the magic of healing tanks!
Genghis Rex	The velociraptor guards immediately zero in on Vegeta. they bring their halberds to bear but do not attack. Warning hisses and clicks rise from them and there is no doubt that they would be on Vegeta in a fraction of a second if they were inclined to do so. The tail disappears into the hole while the dinosaur it belongs to rights himself before dropping into view behind the Velociraptor guards. It is indeed Genghis Rex, but not as Vegeta is used to seeing him. He looks like ... a dinosaur auto mechanic, wearing shabby torn up jeans and a sleeveless "beater" that may have once been white, but was now stained black with grease and grim. Rex lifts his arm and lets go of a wrench he'd been using, it hangs in the air where he leaves it as he pushes past his Velociraptor guards. Rex approaches Vegeta, looking down at the Saiyan and holds out a grease covered claw in greeting, then thinks better of it, "Sorry, I'm forgetting myself ... somebody get me a laser wash ..." He pulls off the beater and tosses it in a nearby trashcan, then offers a weary smile to Vegeta and says, "Yes, Vegeta ... I trust you are feeling better after the other night? Hopefully well enough for another fight?" A tiny 4 foot dinosaur runs over to Rex and hands him a device, which he switches on, emitting a waving golden light which he turns on himself. After a few passes the grease and grim seems to evaporate from Genghis Rex's body, leaving gleaming red scales, "Not as refreshing as a shower, but at least it gets under your nails ..."
Vegeta	"I've healed, and neither me nor Kakarot used much energy in that battle, so I was able to recover my energy reserves within a few days." Vegeta explains as he offers his hand now that Rex is actually clean. "I believe we both used as much energy as we could without risking the lives of everyone around us."
Tesla Armadia	As if on cue to the moment Tesla pages Rex's communicator. "That little... side project you wanted has been fully assembled, Rex."
Genghis Rex	Rex grins, as Tesla arrives right on cue, "Excellent. Come with me, Vegeta. We shall see how much power you can expend on me ..." The Tyranno king steps lively after Tesla, beaconing Vegeta to follow. His tail whips behind him in an excited manner, "I've always wanted one of these, Commander Armadia ... can't wait to try it out!"
Vegeta	"Use one of what?" Vegeta asks as he starts to follow, apparently going along with it. "Are you actually saying that you want me to beat you up?"
Tesla Armadia	"I believe that is the idea, yes." As the two walk in Tesla gives a gesture for the dramatic and the room lights up. You know how the Confederate citadel has the Field of Trials that uses a multitude of advanced technologies and a bit of magic to allow someone to fight almost anywhere against anyone? Tesla's converted one of the extra hangers into something similar. As is she's leaning against the main control terminal in the back, thermos of hot coffee in one hand like usual. Abiet it's pretty empty at this point, with all the hours she's put into getting this done. "Think nothing of it, Rex. It'll be a useful tool for training your Tyranno soldiers, as well."
Genghis Rex	After the threesome enter the giant training room, Rex disappears for a moment through a side door and can be heard shuffling around as he changes clothes. After a few awkward moments, he reappears, dressed in his combat gear, but stops to adjust himself a bit. He glances down at Tesla, "Brachio was right, these harnesses DO ride up in the front." Rex then turns to Vegeta, "This is a training room, much like the rooms we have in the Citadel on Earth. We are both protected from actual injury, but while the room is active, it will simulate the conditions of a real fight. Pain, injury, etc - it will all feel very real ... what, I want you to do, Vegeta, is try to kill me." The Tyanno nods reassuringly, "Do NOT hold back. You won't be able to kill me, but I need you to try. I need to know what I'm up against with Kakarot and you're as close as I have available to me."
Vegeta	"Kakarot holds back. I truly believe that he's never used his full power in a fight against anyone except perhaps myself and Cell. If you fight him, you -will- be lulled into a false sense of security. So, you're right, I will -not- hold back, not even in the way I would in the average fight." Vegeta balls his fists, and suddenly they can feel the ground begin to shake as he summons up a gigantic well of power all at once. "I will show you the full extent of what to expect, what he will lead you to believe you don't have to worry about." "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" He suddenly -explodes-, skipping right to his final stage, muscles more defined, electricity arcing over his body. But he's still rising in power as he approaches the other king, extending his aura as if spreading a fire. It's thick, almost physical the way it blows at one like a heavy gust of wind. "To fight Kakarot, you have to be able to -approach- me." he says as he stands there, not pulling his power in at all. he just lets it wildly fly off every which way, almost like having to enter the eye of a hurricane. "This is your test. Approach me, show that you will not simply -bow- to the power of another race."
Tesla Armadia	Tesla Armadia sits back, mainly to watch. And to take notes. Because even without Kakarot and his forces out there, there are saiyans on the enemy side of the greater war to take into consideration, and she is the sort of mastermind that prefers to be prepared whenever possible.
Genghis Rex	Rex folds his arms, cocking his head at Vegeta, then slams his foot to the ground, kicking up a holographic boulder the size of a Go Cart and catches it one armed out of the air. The Tyrannosaur winds up, "I didn't ask for a strip tease, Vegeta, I asked for a fight!" and pitches the boulder, as easy as a human would pitch a baseball straight at Vegeta!
Vegeta	"Fine, you asked for it!" Vegeta charges straight toward the boulder, crossing his arms over his face as he bursts through it. He roars with BATTLE. How do you roar with battle? That's difficult to explain, but he does it. Flying toward Rex like a freight train, he immediately tries to slam a horrifyingly powerful punch into the dinosaur's face. "SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO!!!"
Genghis Rex	Rex taps a button on his belt and lifts off the ground, himself, much like a Saiyan. Unlike a Saiyan, there is a thin blue aura around him rather than a brilliant golden one. As vegeta Approaches, he sidesteps the lunge and brings his elbow crashing down on the small of Vegeta's back. "Sloppy and reckless!" Rex critiques, "I've seen better from you." In his normal form, Rex is immensely strong, at least as strong as a normal Saiyan, but he is NOT nearly as strong as a Super Saiyan so do with that information as you wish.
Vegeta	Vegeta actually goes go down to his hands and knees, surprised. "Huh. Believe it or not, I thought you'd be about as powerful as the dinosaurs on Earth." Then he suddenly vanishes into a blur of speed, trying to slam his leg into Rex's arm as hard as he can possibly muster. Even though he isn't holding back, a part of him obviously can't help but try to feel Rex out a bit.
Tesla Armadia	"Blue's not a bad color on you, Rex." Tesla just tosses in some random commentary while glancing at the terminal to make sure everything is functioning properly for the first non-testing run of the equipment. "Sorry about the riding issue, the physique of your kind doesn't allow for a lot of comfort padding when you wanted to keep the rig less obvious."
Genghis Rex	"As much as I hate to say bad things about relatives, ack!" Rex takes the kick in the crook of his elbow and reels away from Vegeta. "I am their SUPERIOR!" Rex spins as he floats backwards and tries to deliver a vicious roundhouse kick to Vegeta's face - the thing about Dinosaurs is that they have a tail that follows their legs around, so often a kick results in a followup tail slap! Well, maybe not so much of a slap and a smash?
Vegeta	Vegeta spins with the kick, but he was not actually expecting the tail, and goes flying back into a wall. He rubs his face in both annoyance and confusion. "As if I'm trying to kill you." he suddenly repeats. Then he holds his hand out and starts releasing dozens of golden ovals of energy. When they impact with anything, they explode like highly volatile grenades. They don't even seem to be particularly aimed at anything, he's firing them like he's trying to carpet bomb the place.
Genghis Rex	Rex rubs at his arm, looking more annoyed than hurt by the kick, but he definitely felt it as he floats backwards, watching Vegeta, "HARDER! FIGHT ME YOU SIMIAN SCUM! SHOW ME YOU ARE WORTHY OF BEING A KING!" Rex's eyes go wide as the ki energy sprays forth from Vegeta's hand, he manages to dodge a few but catches one directly in the chest and flies backwards, slamming into a concrete wall, caving it in slightly and sliding to the ground. After a second, he staggers to his feet and wipes a trickle of blood from his jaw, "There we go! MUCH BETTER! But ANY APE could do that ... are you more than an APE, Vegeta?"
Tesla Armadia	All the taunting back and forth just reminds Tesla she needs to program a way for Shardcore to properly do so without just repeating stock phrases from a memory database.
Vegeta	"Hahaha, you fool, you really want to see what I could do? You want to see the only way to kill Kakarot, a way that I would never have a chance to pull off? The way that would have endangered your planet?" Vegeta starts crouches slightly, then holds his hands out, beginning to charge energy into his palms. It's a -ridiculous- amount, as electricity begins to spark around the energy, and if they were outside the weather systems would be going insane again. "At this range, outside of this machine, it could very well kill us both. But since we're in here, I'll show you. I will show you what Kakarot could likely do at any moment with that Kamehameha. I will show you the extent of a Saiyan's power! All of my energy in a single attack." He suddenly slams his palms together, aiming them at Rex. "FINAL FLASH!!!" The energy that rushes from his palms is enough energy to shatter the average Dragon Ball planet. And at this range, and this amount, once it actually hits the wall it will actually flood the -entire- room and catch Vegeta in it as well. But he wants to show Rex -exactly- what to expect, and give these people all of the data they could possibly use.
Tesla Armadia	Tesla Armadia ... actually pulls out a pair of sunglasses to protect her eyes from the brightness of Vegeta's energy buildup.
Genghis Rex	Rex's eyes go wide, his pupils dilate as the massive energy blast washes over him. The feeling of oblivion is not so bad as he'd might imagine, kind of warm and tingly as his nervous system is overloaded. Euphoric in fact. Whether this was the system's attempt to simulate being mega beamed out of existence or if that's what it actually felt like, Rex really had no idea. Eventually, everything simply went black. Then the lights came up. "Combatant, Genghis Rex, defeated." a voice chimed over the room's intercom. Rex crouched in the corner whether the final flash left him, then glanced up at Vegeta, "What the in the GREAT EGG was that? Did you sneak a Macross cannon in here?!?"
Vegeta	Vegeta falls to one knee, apparently almost entirely out of energy, breathing heavily. "That was -all- of my energy, except the basic energy required to be alive, or do some basic fighting against a weak opponent. I wanted to show you the full extent of what's hiding in Kakarot, a fully physical representation of the kind of power we wield. That was all of it, -at once-. I created the Final Flash not knowing how powerful it was, or the full consequences of using all of my energy in a single attack." He explains this as he stands, carefully walking over to Rex to offer a hand. "When I first used it, I nearly destroyed Earth. I had to deflect my own attack. Despite how effective it is, it puts the entire -planet- at risk to use it. This is the kind of power that people like Kakarot and myself wield, this is the kind of energy reserve you have to prepare for if you're going to fight him."
Tesla Armadia	Tesla Armadia lifts her glasses back up as the lights go dim from the simulation canceling itself upon Rex's 'death'. "So if he does not use that attack, he has a tremendous amount of energy stores to deal with."
Genghis Rex	Rex takes Vegeta's hand and stands, "You ... deflected this? THIS? You deflected this?" The Tyranno lets out a nervous sigh, "So, you're telling me that someone of you power, power comparable to Kakarot's, can not only wield enough power to destroy a planet himself ... but also survive the attack." Rex stands on wobbly legs, glancing over Vegeta, "It weakened you ... so you can only do it once ... so the energy is finite. That must be why he's not used it yet, we've kept his energy reserves below what is necessary to do this, yes? Or perhaps he doesn't know the technique?"
Vegeta	"Kakarot uses the Kamehameha. It's an extremely versatile attack that I've seen him use numerous variations of. It would not be out of the question for him to use a version that rivaled my Final Flash. Raditz did this very thing when I fought him to regain my title of king. This is how we ended up destroying a doomed ancient version of Planet Vegeta in our clash." Vegeta further explains, for Tesla, but otherwise nods. He heads over to a wall to lean on something, very clearly spent. "But, yes, these would be the approximate energy reserves you'd have to deal with. Once he expends close to this much, it's possible he could use even more under duress, this is essentially how Saiyans function. But once he's used about as much as I've shown you, he will likely be exhausted and weakened." He crosses his arms, considering some other possibilities, and Rex's questions. "Even though he -could- very well use the same amount of energy that I've used, it would be something that he would likely only do if he absolutely wanted to devastate your planet. I don't believe he wants to do that. And if he did he would be vulnerable. It's a dangerous thing to do when you have more than one enemy." Then he slides down to the floor, crossing his legs. "The other thing to keep in mind, considering the loyalty of his followers... if he -did- expend his energy, they could very well transfer -their- energy to -him-. Just as I offered to do to you, assuming you wouldn't explode."
Tesla Armadia	"It does not suit his style to simply blow up the enemy. He has shown too much of a desire to actually fight, to push his nation and followers into conflict, to take 'the easy way." Tesla observes as she taps a few controls on the terminal. "It's going to take a few hours for the simulator to recoup from having to contend with that much energy discharge at once, but otherwise everything is functioning perfectly."
Genghis Rex	Rex leans on the wall, looming over Vegeta, "Explode? Oh, I very much doubt that would happen." He glances to Tesla, "Saiyans seem to think they have the market cornered on power. Don't you think?"
Vegeta	"Well then..." Vegeta looks between the two of them. "Was this any use to you? If you can overcome this much power, then his underlings will be nothing to you. I don't believe any of them other than Kakarot can reach the second stage of Super Saiyan like we can."
Genghis Rex	"An excellent creation, my dear Tesla, is really is unfortunate that you were not born a Reptilonian. You really do fit in well around here." The T-Rex walks over to a small fixture near Tesla's console and pops it open, he fishes around inside for a moment and plucks a chunk of yellow something from it. Tesla's console goes dark Rex smirks, "Just gonna borrow this." He holds the piece of rock to Vegeta's face, "Dynocium 13. The savior of our people. It's an infinitely rechargeable power source, fueled by a geothermal refining process within Lavadome." He tosse the piece up and down in his claw, "Completely inert, no radiation whatsoever. It is a perfect element and this small piece powered this entire simulation and it could power 1000 more just like it before it would need to be recharged."
Vegeta	"So, -that's- why this place didn't entirely fall to pieces from my blast. I was curious about how such a thing was possible." Vegeta stares at the floor for a moment, then suddenly smiles. "The androids... the first two who arrived. They're long dead now, but they could absorb energy. They were created to defeat Saiyans. They had energy absorbtion... things in their palms. Of course they couldn't overcome the simple flaw of cutting off their hands, if such a thing were built without such a flaw, Kakarot might be at a severe disadvantage..." He stares at the rock, furrowing his brow. "That could be the vital key to you defeating him."
Tesla Armadia	"If it's any consolation," Tesla replies with a smirk. "Armadillos are more scale and dermal tissue than hair, at least." Minor inconvenience, she can simply replace the crystal power supply once Rex is done showing it off. She folds her arms as she leans back against the wall, head tilting down just enough in thought that it causes a reflective sheen across her glasses. "I wonder if it would be possible to modify the anti-gravity rig, with one of those crystals as a power source, to help disperse energy as well as provide levitation. After all, not even energy can escape the force of gravity entirely."
Genghis Rex	Rex opens the badge on his chest and plucks out a small fleck of Dynocium, then replaces it with the larger chunk he'd absconded with fro Tesla's console, "Now I will show you power." He closes the badge a rotates it 180 degree, then slaps it. Rex tucks his head as a bolt of pain seems to rush through him, he falls to his knees and clutches at his rib cage, a strange static seems to crackle about in the entire room, like somebody just activated a massive Tesla Coil and all three confederates where sitting right on top of it. Rex lets out a roar of anguish that suddenly dies in his throat as the static gathers around him little bolts of red lightning dancing across his scales, then, in the blink of an eye a monstrous draconic form blinks into existence where Genghis Rex once slumped. The being isn't flesh, it's a bizarre ethereal creature made of red energy that seems to be exploding and recreating itself over and over again, but it can't seem to settle. It seems incomplete. The beast fixes its empty eyesockets on Vegeta and growls, "THIS IS POWER." "Uhhh ..." The creature clutches at it's chest and and slams to the ground, in an instant, it blanks back out of existence and Rex lies on the ground where the beast used to be, his body smoldering as if he'd just crawled out of an inferno. His eyes are open, but his breathing is slow and ragged.
Vegeta	"Yes... yes indeed." Vegeta forces himself up, then heads to Rex and falls to one knee, reaching to pat him on the shoulder. "This is the ascent to power. For every Saiyan who stumbles their way into being a Super Saiyan, there are those rare ones like myself who try to ascend, to rise beyond that. We risk our lives, training in ways that should kill even the most durable of Saiyans, and we push our bodies to unnatural limits. And you... you will do that. You will do this over and over, just as a Saiyan would, until this, what you've just shown me, is second nature to you. If you wish to defeat a Saiyan and wield this kind of power, you will train like a Saiyan. You are truly a king to your people."
Tesla Armadia	"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Tesla quips idly. "... And in some cases, the doesn't isn't even necessary. Saiyan methods are a lot like science, really. Each stumble is just another step towards the ultimate results in the end."
Genghis Rex	Rex's scales are burning hot to the touch, he pushes himself up to a sitting position and grasps for air, "There is not enough time for that ..." A monitor on the wall flashes to life, the emotionless beak of Styraco glares at the trio, "Would somebody care to explain to me why Genghis Rex just flatlined for a moment on my vitals screen? What are you three doing down there?" Rex waves a claw at the image, "Go away, horn head ..." Styraco leans in and offers a scrutinizing gaze, "Oh dear ... you tried the Dracovolver didn't you ... well ... I told you it had risks ... congratulations, Genghis Rex, you've just suffered your first heart attack."
Vegeta	"Heheheheheh..." Vegeta suddenly laughs in a rather deep tone, as if he's just gotten an incredible idea. "Oh, but there is." He stands up straight, staring down at Rex. "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
Tesla Armadia	"Styraco," Tesla greets the image of the other scientist with a respectful nod. "The transformation seemed to have difficulty in stabilizing itself fully. If that is related to the 'heart attack' or not." Then raises a brow a bit at Vegeta. "... Please tell me this is some kind of temporal dilation device and not an actual 'time machine'," she even briefly makes the finger quoting gesture. "Fully functional time travel seems to be something the Multiverse does not enjoy trying to swallow."
Genghis Rex	Styraco just frowns, because that's all a ceratopsian can do, but for some reason it seems even more frownier than usual, "I'm sending down a medical team come get you. You two, don't let him run off or anything. He needs to be stabilized before he has a real cardiac arrest. Also take that Dracovolver off of him!" Rex warily plucks the piece of dynocium from his badge and tosses it kinda sorta towards Tesla, not really having the strength or coordination to get it over to her. It's the thought that counts, right? He mutters mutters to the screen, "Sure, mom, whatever ..."
Vegeta	"It isn't a time machine, and 'device' would be an inadequate description." Vegeta says in response to Tesla. "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber allows you to train for an entire year's time, in a single day. You can only enter it twice in one lifetime. It's essentially its own dimensional space, and is incredibly dangerous. But training in there is how I managed to gain the power required to eventually ascend the level of Super Saiyan, and defeat the androids." He crosses his arms, staring down at Rex. "I can enter it one more time and train him for that entire year."
Tesla Armadia	It's okay, Tesla uses the kinetic grappler in her tech gauntlet to pull the crystal to her properly. "A year in a day? So temporal dilation is accurate then, at least." She looks down at the crystal in her hand for a moment. "It may be what he needs to master this new technology before it kills him. In a way that isn't beneficial to him getting stronger." She turns to replace the Dynocium in the terminal while the medical dinos come to retrieve Rex.
