Courier Six     LAST TIME, ON NEW VEGAS ADVENTURES

We are in a flashback, with happy warm cosy people inside a working Vault. Veronica's Voice! "Once it was one of the few good places for people to live in the Mojave. Maybe it could have been more."

A welcoming committee opens up the Vault... right into the base of the Fiends. "And just maybe it can be once again."

Back to our time, and a grim faced bunch of Syndicates stand outside a bloody and ruined Vault entrance. "All it's going to take is a little bit of Spring Cleaning, that's all."

    REDEMPTION
Courier Six     VAULT THREE ENTRANCE:

Johnny grumbles as he starts unpacking out a rather hefty looking laser... gatling gun is the only way to describe it. The heavy, underslung device is bulky and heavy, but it's going to be needed, in the Courier's opnion. His impassive, black gas mask crackles with his modulated voice. "So. I picked up the proper door codes out of the old Vault data from the 38. Don't ask me why I've got it, that's a story for another day, really."

Behind him might be a new face for some. It's someone in heavy ass power armor, carrying what looks like an oversized welding lance on her back and a massive, red hot glowing power fist on her right hand. Her voice crackles a bit through her transciever as well. "Don't worry, guys, we've got this! We're just going to have to bring some law and order to this place! Think Spring Cleaning, only... you know, less cleaning and more making a mess, right?" God she's perky. Meet Veronica Santangelo.
Kyra Hyral     Though not normally a hunter of man (...sort of, Nathan Hall doesn't count), Kyra has come on this mission, intent on providing the aggressive support she was gradually becoming known for amongst the multiverse. Familiar with this particular world, she took the necessary precautions and doses of Rad-X. She opted for flexible sealed clothing, likely 'borrowed' from one of the facilities at Alexander Academy, leaving her in a leather and kevlar suit with her gear and guns looped and hung over it. She too has a gas mask, though it is not completely assembled, the goggles detatched from the rest and resting on her head. Strapped across her back is the large and very heavy-looking CURE-ALL. Held in her hands is a hunting rifle.

"So how good is the air circulation in this vault?" she asks of Johnny right away, "Just curious."
Souji Murasame Souji is present. He has been an immutable part of the proceedings so far, always appearing in an impeccably tailored suit with his trademark weapon at his side. He has no guns. He knows how to use them, of course, but his fighting style generally does not include them.

For now, he is simply prepared. His gaze looks over Veronica, and he approves. She will make a /wonderful/ tank. "The destruction of the Fiends are inevitable. We will pursue this to the end." He states.
Courier Six     @KYRA:

Johnny's hands deftly work the final energy pack into the gatling laser and he slaps the reciever closed with a satisfying THUNK of something heavy and magnetic closing in the gun. "If they left everything intact, those Vaults can run almost indefinately, by standard construction. I ain't found one'a them yet that's been standard construction."
Courier Six     @SOUJI, KYRA:

"THAT'S THE PLAN!" Vee is very excited at Souji. "These guys have been ruining everyone's plans for ages!"

Sadly, Veronica will be the one not noticing Senpai, as that helmet swivels a bit to take things in, and focuses on Kyra. A little wave. "I hear you're our medic here today!"
Noble Six At the moment, Noble Six appears to be looking at the door to the Vault. She is admiring the construction. Crude, compared to her own world, sure, but very impressive none the less, "How did the Fiends take this vault in the first place? There's no way they could have breached these doors on their own. There'd be some evidence of it."
Souji Murasame Souji nods. "Kyra is... an acceptable medic." Of course, Given Souji's behavior, acceptable could very well be high praise.
Kyra Hyral     "Hm." Kyra vocalizes, pointedly trying to ignore Souji into nonexistance. It doesn't work. At all. "So their air purification system must be top notch if it can pull that off. I do have knockout gas on me since I heard there were non-Fiends down there, just in case, but it doesn't sound like it'll be a good primary plan."

Kyra beams at Veronica. "Yep! That's me! I'll be keeping an eye on everyone in line of sight but if something happens, just, like, scream in pain and I'll be right over." One hand falls away from her rifle and she gives Veronica a thumbs up.
Rory White     Though she was 'gung ho' earlier about wiping out the fiends, this time Rory's hanging back far more. Reading her expression one might glean 'regretful' or 'distracted' but it's a rather difficult thing to do, hers being rather flat and neutral except when blasting out a giant spurt of emotion.

She's dressed for war, but the array of weaponry she brought before is nowhere to be seen. The skintight battlesuit, only bulging out with the occasional armor plate and robotic force amplifiers... is covered in much lighter weapons than before. Laser pistols, several spheres that might be grenades, a pack full of OTHEr spheres with medical emblems on them...

She doesn't have a gas mask, because, well... she doesn't breathe.

"I would guess ambush when it was open, or fooled whoever was inside to open the doors. Although I can think of several ways to break into a Vault, it's doubtful the fiends had the means or knowledge to attempt them... and for my part, the easiest answer would be hacking! ... Except for that I'd need a terminal. The Vault entrances are nearly impenetrable without using something like a plasma cutter."
Starbound Flotilla     The Starbounders came here looking for trouble, so they're ready to find it, all wearing a lot of Durasteel armor. Moonfin, the fishman, is in elaborate full-body durasteel armor that looks like a powered cross between a diving suit and a samurai's armor. Biteblade, the humanoid plant, is in durasteel plating with elaborately carved wood and bone ornaments over glowing powered components. Pavo the bird-girl wears a pirate-styled set of mesoamerican-style armor, with bands of energized fabric linking the pieces and powering them. Albert the monkey-man is wearing elaborate dystopian commando armor reconstructed with a 'rebel spy' aesthetic: A sleeker faceplate, a slimmer form, and a more chaotic design that integrates thin, resilient plates of durasteel. George (just plain human) wears a set of futuristic EVA-combat and exploration armor in a suit that glows a gentle blue at the faceplate. Seft, the robotic Flotilla member, is wearing full-on medieval knight armor with a soft energized glow below the plates on her body, and especially around the eyes.

Biteblade is the "leader" for the Core Fleet of the Flotilla, as normal for this operation. "Floran not wonder how get codesss. Floran, trussst radiation man." And then Biteblade gestures a hand over to Kyra. "Medic friend ssay, want to put gasss in vault. Floran think, maybe filtersss? But, worth try."

Albert gives a grunt and a nod to Souji. "Our Flotilla has worked with her on multiple operations. She has done well for us, and keeps us fighting effectively in the field." There's a few nods to Rory. "All possibilities. Since Tallbranch has the code, how it was acquired matters little. Input it whenever you are all prepared. Flotilla! Arm up." And the Starbounders draw their weapons; Biteblade is the one standing in front of the main group, linking with whatever vanguard there is for this operation.
Orphen "Sorry I'm late." Orphen says as he walks in from behind everyone, wearing a gas mask with a little brown sack hanging from his back. He's injected himself with Rad-X and whatever else seemed to be needed to not die a horrible death in this world, and hangs back, listening for what exactly they're about to be up to. "I'm a little new to this Syndicate business."
Courier Six     THE VAULT DOOR:

Johnny growls, heading over to the main entrance of the Vault, and over to a control panel that the Fiends have done their damnedest to break beyond repair. Thankfully, the place is VAULT-TEC and when they /want/ something to last, it does.

There's some fiddling with knobs and levers and buttons, the Courier squirting some good old WD-40 into a few places, before... a rumbling takes over the carpark, and the massive Door shifts and rumbles and starts to slip inward with a massive grinding noise. As it rolls to the side, there's angry screaming and yelling from within, and someone starts opening fire around the gear-shaped blast seal as it moves out of place. Johnny takes cover as best he can, but that cover is going to vanish as soon as the door does. A hail of laser beams and regular bullets start to rake the crowd.
Kyra Hyral     "Filters are what I am afraid of." Kyra confides in Biteblade as he and the other Flotilla members arrive. "I'd expect some kind of failsafe for a radiation-proof bunker to prevent, say, carbon monoxide poisoning."

Kyra suddenly doubletakes at a familiar face, "Ma-Orphen! Hi! Hey, been meaning to catch up with you again at some point. And hey, Syndicate stuff is good, you can pick up some extra money." Politely, Kyra does not say out loud why that's such a big deal to Orphen.

As the Vault door is opened, Kyra quickly moves to the back for both spotting purposes but for the sake of having other people up front to soak up the bullets and lasers when the Vault's inhabitants immediately open fire on everyone. She herself doesn't return fire but instead gets to work laying down enchantments on the frontmost people-Veronica, Biteblade, and Souji in particular. Yes, Souji included. The first three people will have a Protect spell applied to them, which cuts down physical damage and would help against bullets. Lasers...probably not so much.
Orphen "Forge, the Armor of Light!" Orphen holds his hands out, and a white hot dome barrier of light forms around him and anyone who's immediately near him, which means it doesn't protect anyone unless they just happen to be next to him. "Alright, so guns aren't complete crap like in my world."
Starbound Flotilla     Alright. Time to get to work.

"Second Sea Hylotl Style: A Sea Held Back By Many Shores." Moonfin is the first to move in, covering Albert, George, and Seft. The sheer overwhelming nature of those lasers and bullets means that his swords can't stand up to the deluge. So he exploits his matter manipulator; standing in front of Albert, the fishman swipes his sword through the air, blocking several lasers until it snaps in half in a spray of shattered steel. And then he draws another! Swiping and swiping again until it breaks brutally. And then another, and another, and another! He draws them from his Matter Manipulator like he's unsheathing them in sequence, and functions as one-way cover for the Flotilla members.

Albert has a tremendous, thumping grenade launcher, George appears to have equipped Cook Cook's flamer, and Seft has Gregory Ghost's old enhanced laser pistol. All three open fire; George tries to flush the swarm back, Albert tries to disorient them heavily, and Seft tries to pick them off brutally. Meanwhile, Biteblade, enhanced by Kyra's PROTECT spell. attempts to go a more creative route. Taking a tribal approach, they immediately attempt to leap UP to the ceiling of the vault entrance and slip through the gunfire that way, tanking the physical damage using Kyra's buff and trying to slip in to flank, despite the bottleneck. It's RISKY, but without coherent fire-team tactics from the Fiends, it might work...

They intend to move in, flank, and start their traditional butchery with their twin POWER DAGGERS. Meanwhile, in the back row, Moonfin's dramatic weebish sword deflection has lodged a lot of steel in their body and seriously jarred their arm to exhaustion, so they'll need to swap tactics soon. Pavo tried to get to cover but has already taken a shot, and is sticking now to the side of the vault entry, putting a bit of pressure on the wound.
Souji Murasame Souji nods at the barrier provided by Kyra. The arrival of Orphen gets a glance, he is not personally familiar with the mercenary spellslinger. However, he does not object. Why would he? As the door begins to open, Souji immediately moves to crouch behind the console, his hands ms gathering his MP into a complicated pattern. Energy courses between his hands as the Pattern is prepared, and Souji calls out, "Haste-2." The spell triggers, orange light flaring over the operations team with images of spinning clockwork hands as he provides the most efficient field changer he can. Haste means additional actions. Additional actions mean, in aggregate, more killing and reaction power across the entire team. Therefore, it is the optimal first action.
Courier Six     VERONICA:

This is Veronica's first time ever with Magic. And thus... her initial reaction is surprising. She is right along with Biteblade, charging much faster than someone in something that bulky has any right to move, her red hot glowing powerfist raised, bullets and lasers spanging off her armor.

The two make their way inside first, backed by grenades and flying fire and more! BANZAI!

Inside, it's the standard Vault entry chamber, only this time there are angry drug-soaked men carrying heavy lasers and guns instead of mostly harmless Sodamen. Well.
Veronica's first action is to charge right into their backline, reach the man with the bigggest gun, and with bullets starting to penetrate the power armor, she punches the head clean off one of the 6 men inside. Like, right at the neck. The rest of him starts on fire. There is blood everywhere.
Rory White     "Your name is Ma-Orphen? ... Is that Egyptian?" trust Rory to not realize Kyra was getting her words jumbled, but she gives the sorcerer a greeting smile and a nod acknowledging his presence nonetheless. But the door opens and there's not much time to talk about anything else.

And bullets start flying. "Already--" SPang spang CRACK!

Rory's battlesuit sparks and fizzles as bullets pepper it, but she shields her face with both arms. Weird gouge marks are left behind, but fragments of bullet are dropping to the ground. Only a few seem to have done much. They've dug into a soft part around a joint. Although a tiny bit of what seems to be blood comes from the wound for a moment, Rory doesn't seem pained at all, or bothered. Instead...

"If you value your lives, surrender and convince your fellows to do... the same..."

... Well, not much chance of that, with everyone else opening up full bore.

Rory unholsters her laser pistol and starts taking potshots. BONUS POINTS, her lasers are properly invisible, that's sure to take a few people by surprise!

Although she's aiming for non-vital locations, her aim is also far from perfect...
Noble Six As the door opens up, Noble Six preps herself for whatever is inside. What is inside appears to be a wave of laser fire. Noble Six doesn't move, since laser fire will be mostly deflected by her shields.

Her power armor is a bit sleeker than the stuff from this universe. Maybe not as tough without the shields, though. She does, however, have something that she brought with her for the sake of engaging the close quarters combat of the Vault, as she pulls her shotgun out from behind her back, and levels it at whatever the closest target is.

As soon as she's fired her shot, she moves out of the way of the door, aiming to get cover on the side and allow her shields time to regenerte back to full power.
Orphen "Just Orphen." Orphen lowers his forcefield and runs in after Veronica. He can't dodge bullets, so he does the next best thing. He runs up the side of the wall, committing full on parkour, then holds his hands out to his sides and shouts, "Light-Blade!" before people can hear what sounds a hell of a lot like a lightsaber being activated, except the blue blades of light extend fully from his index and middle fingers.

He then begins to jump down behind men, crouched and moving like some sort of assassin. He doesn't take any kill shots, but he starts to slash at tendons, right before jumping right back up at walls or to the ceiling, sticking a light blade into the structure to hold him in place.
Courier Six     THE ASSAULT BEGINS!

Well Orphen and Rory are going for the 'less lethal' route, that's very admirable, and mostly pretty effective! The Fiends start to slow down, crippled slightly by the assaults and cuts nad tendon slicing. That last bit drops one to the ground!
Only to have his head blown off by the SPARTAN's Shotgun. The body twitches and bleeds and mostly bleeds.

The 'wounding' isn't seeming to have as much effect though. These guys are stuffed to the gills on the Good Stuff.
Kyra Hyral     Kyra continues to hang back. She'll probably be the last person to follow in or at least keeping pace with Rory. Once people do start entering and soaking fire, she moves again so she at least has line of sight into the vault as everyone else squeezes in.

Seeing what Moonfin is up to prompts her to target him next with another Protect spell, not that he needs it right /now/ with how expertly he's blocking each shot with his katanas.

As she moves forward, she does pause to tend to Pavo, opting to reach out and put a hand over Pavo's hand that presses against the wound. A light flash of white light follows as the white mage opts for a simple cure spell rather than a huge shot from the CURE-ALL for Pavo's wound.
Souji Murasame Souji, the moment he sees an opening, launches into the chokepoint and takes up a flanking strike position. He doesn't immediately engage in melee with the amount of firepower flying around, instead charging up a light blast of electricity. "Thunder-1." He calls, firing a powerful shock from his hand that arcs out over the enemy group. Thanks to it being MAGICAL LIGHTNING, he doesn't need to worry about it hitting his allies. He's conserving his MP, Haste-2 is not cheap.
Rory White     The massive amounts of gore don't do much to get Rory flinching - it's simply a mess to her. The knowledge that this violence is quite fatal and final is the source of distress she doesn't wish to show after the last operation-- but she does. A sorrowful, anxious, and deep frown is rather appropriate for the situation and she wears it well even as she slinks up and around. The Vault's corridors offer considerable cover at every corner...

"If they leave ANY alive, at least I have enough nanobandages to sustain over a dozen on me!" that explains the pack she's wearing, at least.

"Anything less seems ineffective. Side effects of intense drug abuse, no doubt..."
Courier Six     SOUJI:
As Souji takes up position, there's a figure behind him. Not a threatening one, thankfully.
Well, unless you're spooked by Johnny's usual scavenged NCR gear. The Couier taps him on the shoulder, and then there's a plasma pistol being offered. "Here you go, kid. Keep behind me."

The lightning strike hits the mark though, and another of the mens falls over twitching and screaming and boiling from the inside.
Johnny takes the moment to lean out into the passage and hose down some covering fire with that gatling gun.
Starbound Flotilla     Moonfin can still do with some protection; the sustained as the defensive is, this is really jarring to the arms and body, and wears their defense down simply by exhausting them. He begins to press forward, though, as best he can. The remaining three Starbounders on the back row continue their tactics, while Pavo seems to recover rather swiftly.

For now, the most important one of the Core Fleet is Biteblade, who has lept forward with Veronica. She takes down one, Biteblade goes for another. The first man to turn their gun on Veronica in return is going to get a Floran dropping onto them from above, screeching and hissing and stabbing right for the neck. Biteblade is going to go for instant dismemberments, spinal wounds, and similar. They're handling this intelligently. Don't just eat; take the drugged-out savages out of the fight as quickly as possible in a way that works with their awful drug-induced painlessness.
Orphen Orphen realizes that these people aren't going down from simple beatings. which is why he opts for trying to make it physically difficult for them to continue. Where cutting tendons might not be efficient, he dispels his blades and suddenly drops down behind someone else, swinging his palm around in front of their eyes, "I Create Thee, Small Spirit!" That's when a white orb of light forms in his palm, then -explodes, trying to blind the man.
Kotone Yamakawa Where has Kotone been? She's been here, she's just been in the back of the group as they were making ready to make the assault upon the Fiend's lair. She was armed yes, she had some non lethal options but she knew this was going to be messy and for once she thinks she will be able to sleep after doing this. She's been keeping with Rory.

As she moves, she ripples and seems to vanish from view. Those with a keen eye or high end scanning. Be it Magic or tech would notice she's used some sort of optical cloak. That body suit she was wearing wasn't for show it seems.

<<From one thing into another it seems Rory.>>

She does not take any shots yet but she is packing some nasty things to disable. She knows it may end up with these guys bing shot but maybe she just doesn't have the blood lust today, which could be for the best. She's also keeping an eye out for traps, terminals she could jack into or other nasty suprises.
Noble Six "If you're not able to kill them, the make sure you stay back behind those who can." Noble Six says, her HUD alerting her that the shields have finished recharging. She reaches down to her left side and pulls up a small, baseball sized object.

There's a red button on top of the grenade, and she presses it with her thumb, before moving to the edge of the door and peeking around. She think she'll try to take out the ones behind cover, as she lets her thumb off of the grenade, and counts in her head. Three. Two..One..

She throws the grenade, aiming to have it directly over top of the Fiend's cover when it explodes. Airbursting fragmentation grenades will spray entire areas with deadly shrapnel in a sphere around where it explodes. The whole idea is to take out as many as she can with the blast.
Courier Six     VERONICA, ORPHEN, BITEBLADE:

This... this is not a fight, really, when it comes down to it. Not with this group pair up in the front. The Floran's blades strke true, slicing one of the fiends right open and then flopping him over like a sack of meat as the spine is severed. There' not even a chance to scream for the man.
On the other side, Veronica's PROTECT is wearing off now as more damage comes in, but the numbers are thinning in the defense chamber. One of the remaining souls gets blinded, howls in anger, and swats with his battle rifle, only to be punched nearly in two by Veronica. There's a battle lust roar in that speaker of hers, sounding odd in that girly voice.
Courier Six     NOBLE:
POOF. The grenade goes off and that's another one on the ground howling. Not dead but crippled, proper crippled, shrapnel in her head and neck area. Her Laser RCW falls to the ground from limp hands.
Kyra Hyral     Pleased, Kyra finally moves into the vault, bringing up the rear of the assault party. She lifts her hunting rifle and walks with it, keeping it at the ready in case somebody turns out to not be as dead as hoped and needs a double-tap or two.

Even from back here, she can see the damage on Veronica's power armor. While being able to restore that was debatable (she's working on that!), she can at least lay down another Protect spell on Veronica to keep the tank tanking along.
Orphen "I'd rather not kill if I can get through a situation without doing it. That's just how I do things." Orphen says in a tone that seems to lack in particular judgment on -them- killing. "Anyone need healing? Or their things repaired?"
Kyra Hyral     "Hey Orphen! Hit Veronica's power armor with that one healing spell of yours!" Kyra calls out from the back by the vault, "She could seriously use it!"
Souji Murasame Souji does not turn down a weapon when offered. He takes the plasma pistol, giving the unusual, bulky energy weapon a cursory examination, and then nods, taking up a position next to and behind Courier Six. He has not yet unsheathed his sword. It appears that despite all this, he is reluctant to actually expose his weapon. "Pathetic parasites, not even worth pity or mercy." Souji takes a moment to walk forward as the enemy's front line collapses, and he flips his blade to drive the end of the sheathed weapon down into the crippled Fiend's throat, likely cutting off his pained screaming into a series of gurgles. Not worth bloodying his blade /or/ expending MP /or/ ammo from that plasma pistol.

Souji continues to move up with the others, remaining in formation so the more heavily armored types can continue to do their job.
Starbound Flotilla     Pavo's up on her feet, up enough to snag one of those Laser RCWs and start looting ammo, since she doesn't have a ranged weapon. She does have a cutlass, which she will use to finish off the prone Fiend Souji's abusing with a headstab and get into cover, immediately opening fire on the one remaining Fiend! She'll return it after this is done, if that's what Courier Six needs, of course.

And Seft is also charging in, intending to take them down immediately. There's never been much in terms of useful information or practical purpose they can get out of these things. She means to blast them square on the head, after they've gotten further into the vault now. Meanwhile... Biteblade intends to outrun the bad news. These guys were obviously on guard duty. Maybe that means the Fiends further on will be less prepared! Not have their weapons on-hand, maybe? Biteblade intends to press the advantage while they've still got a fresh Protect and no wounding yet. And always -- ALWAYS -- resist the urge to start eating the corpses. If there's a main exit at the back of this, they'll take it, rushing as far as they can go until they find another Fiend or any sign of where leaders may be.
Courier Six     THE BLOODBATH:

Is over, mostly. The last of the Fiend guards crumples over dead and bleeding and the rest are finished off by various people. The gear in this room is sparse and busten but could repaired, given enough spare parts.

    FURTHER IN:

The exit is the usual one, down further into the vault. The layout is... familiar at least. This place is labeled 'Recreation and Mess', with arrows in both directions on that one. Another sign points to 'residential', and points down a hallway with a T-Cross, a dead Fiend, another starway up, and a number of suspicious scorch marks on a wall.
Orphen Orphen takes this moment to head over to Veronica, holding his hands out. "Try to stay still." he calmly instructs, taking a deep breath. "Heal, The Scar of the Glowing Sun!" That's when the damage to her armor, if she stays still, will begin to reverse as if it's a tape in rewind.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa also has another reason for using less lethal weapons as she keeps with Noble Six and Rory. They might have hostages and she'd not put itpast them to use them as shields or in other twisted ways. She'll moves in after the grenade goes off and it's safer to move in. She then goes in with her attenpt to make sure this is done and there's not any others. It seems there's no more to worry about there.

She pausese at the scorch marks and she now takes it slow her eyes looking about at the dead fiend and what might be here.

<<Odd I found fiend dead here and it doesn't look like a drug overdose.>>

She contiunes to be very careful and slow moving as she looks about for the cause of the blast marks which likely are what killed the fiend.
Courier Six     THE TRAP:

Kotone manages to spot the tripwire before she stumbles over it, which means the handful of grenades with the pins in the other end of the string don't get deployed which means she isn't about to lose her shiny new chassis.

There is snarled grumbling up the staircase though, and the sound of someone racking the handle on an assault rifle.
Rory White     Hooray for no more bloodbath!

Because Rory's steppingh around bloodpuddles and none too pleased with it. On the rare occasion she comes across a fiend who is NOT dead she slaps a Nanobandage on them and also binds them up with a small spray of quick-hardening foam, but she's not spending too much time seeing how effective this is!

"The sooner it's over... the better I'll feel about this."
Starbound Flotilla     Seft comes in and will help Kotone disarm the trap once it's pointed out. But while she does, she hears the noise of that assault rifle! Hang on, The Laser RCWs aren't like that, and the Fiends with ballistic weapons only usually have pistols or shotguns, and this one took out a Fiend...? "Cautious. Hello?" She gently calls up in her synthetic monotone. "Cautious. You may come out with your gun, but if you mean harm to the Fiends, please do so without pulling the trigger." Her own laser pistol is kept at the ready, but she won't IMMEDIATELY open fire as she approaches the source of the noise. If it DOES turn out to be a fiend, she'll probably open fire, but this situation seems more suspicious... Moonfin and George are tearing ass, and get over to this side of things too, behind them.
Noble Six With the fight over, for the time being, Noble Six moves deeper into the vault proper. The VISR in her helmet turns on, giving her low-light vision, which should be useful in some areas of the Vault. For the time being, she slowly moves down the corridor, shotgun in front of her, in case anyone else plans to jump out.

Although she is sure the primary mission is to clear out the Fiends, she does want to check if there's any secondary or tertiary objections they need to complete while they are down here.
Starbound Flotilla     MEANWHILE, Biteblade is focusing on tearing ass. 'OUTRUN THE BAD NEWS', that's the Tribal Warfare way. Instead of booking it towards Residential like Seft did, she tears ass towards Recreation and Mess, figuring open spaces have attracted more leaderly fiends. She slips her Power Daggers away and pulls out a massive compound magnetic-induction bow, and nocks a magnetic bolt to fire soon. The silent weapon should deal with patrols that might start up after all that ruckus at the front door! Hopefully... She continues to investigate for signs of LEADERLY FIENDS...
Courier Six     RESIDENTIAL:

Noble and Biteblade turn a corner into a big ass room, one of the mess halls, and find an awful sight. There's two entirely doped up fiends, and then four people in a massive cage. Well.
Three people and a corpse. A man, a woman, and a ghoul all looking suddenly hopeful at the sight of well armed people, who aren't Fiends. "AH! THEY SENT THE NCR! GET US OUT OF HERE, PLEASE!" Yells the man. He's shaking, and none of them looking in very good shape.

Well, actually, who can tell with ghouls. This one is one of the sentient ones. He just glares.
Kyra Hyral     Once the room is clear, Kyra again follows, right up to the split hallway. She gives Orphen a thumbs up on the way, adding, "We need to resume those lessons sometime. Hmmm." Since there is a split, that means she'd have to decide which part of the party to accompany. She dislikes splitting the party /period/ but given the time they're working with there wasn't much sense to argue about it.

"Uhhh I'm going this way!" she says, running after Biteblade to RECREATION AND MESS. Her position remains significantly behind the Floran so she doesn't get caught in any crossfire.
Courier Six     PAVO AND GEORGE:

THERE ARE SUSPICIOUSLY LOCKED DOORS WITH A CRAPTON OF GRAFFITII ON THEM, LIKE SOMEONE HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET IN.
Courier Six     UP THE STAIRS:

There's a grumble, and the man up the stairs growls. "Well, you're certainly not the Fiends. Come on up, there's a claymore on the next landign though and I can't get down there."
That mine is easily disarmed once you know about it, and then you're up in the face of an NCR Ranger, with a really torn up leg. He grumbles. "Let me guess, you're with House and Tallbranch. I'm Ranger Anders and I'm hosed. Nice to meet you."
His assautlt rifle stays trained on the roboladies.
Courier Six     ORPHEN:
Veronica squeaks a bit, if that's possible, at the spell from the Stabber. That armor does in fact rewind a bit, though there's a squawk of distress from whatever power system is in the back there. A little burst of green glow from the nuclear powered suit and the helmet crackles. "Careful with that stuff. Thanks though. Come on, pretty boy, we're going to miss all the punching!"

And then she's trotting down the stairs, Johnny in tow behind her. The Courier shrugs a bit at Orphen.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa hears the warning about the mind and nods for a moment, she's ablke to get past it soon enough for a moment. She lowers her weapon as she sees it's a NCR ranger she looks to Anders for a moment.

"Kotone Yamkawa and ya I'm with Tallbranch. Look want a hand getting out of here?"

She has to say the Ranger has managed to live this long likey messed up.

"Can get you treatment and help get you out of here. We been hunting the fiends for the last little bit. I take it you were going after thier leadership like cook cook?"
Starbound Flotilla     Biteblade slides in. Instantly assessing the situation, she skids to a stop, draws her bow back, and fires a tremendous bolt so hefty and rapidly accelerated that it's now clear that the bow is some kind of elaborate bow-shaped railgun. She tries to take out one with a shot square to the heart and spine, while hopefully Noble Six can execute a similar, simultaneous shot before the two doped-up fiends can manage to realize what's going on, call for help, or god forbid shoot back. "Heal friend!" Biteblade calls to Kyra, who has followed. "Get prisssoner!"
Orphen Orphen follows after Veronica, tilting his head at her suit along the way. "That's a strange energy. I'm familiar with a lot of scientific concepts, but I think that may be beyond the depth of my world. Or at least human knowledge. Let me know how dangerous what we might end up dealing with is. If I do need to use deadly force, then, well, I have plenty of spells up my sleeve."
Noble Six     The arrival into the residental area leaves Noble Six spotting the hostages. She quickly sweeps the room with the shotgun as she begins to move towards them. Biteblade strikes out with the 'bow', and Noble Six fires her shotgun at the other target at the same moment.

She is advancing towards the two Fiends and their hostages, trying to make sure that they take out the doped up maniacs before they can hurt the hostages. She'll fire a second shot if the first one doesn't take out the target.
Starbound Flotilla     Pavo is the one with loot vision stronger than George. They're about to follow Biteblade when they see the unusual situation with the doors... "Avast, Georgie Porgie, we got a piece of vault these scurvey dogs couldn't bust! Get ye damn tools!"
    "Fuck off, bird, I'm busy."
"Ye bilgerat!" They get into a bit of an argument, which gives a considerable delay before they can manage to finally agree to have George attempt his usual AIRLOCK REWIRING TECHNIQUE on some of these suspiciously locked doors. He will attempt to bust them open and steal all the valuables therein.
Rory White     "Yes, something like that!" With the trap disabled - thank heavens because Rory wouldn't have spoted it in time.. that would've been a messy reason to resleeve.... She lets Kotone do most of the talking first, while she examines the leg. "Serious damage but nothing treatment and rest can't help. The more worrisome factors... why are you here? I'd been lead to believe this Vault was a Fiend stronghold!"

None of this talkign stops her from slapping a nanobandage on the leg. The little orb adheres instantly and spreads out, the nanites set to sterilize the wound and stitch together important blood vessels to ensure the leg remains treatable... even in the weirdest circumstances.
Kyra Hyral     Far back enough, Kyra too is treated to the view of the caged prisoners being held by the drugged-out Fiends. Fortunately, her delay offers her the chance to get by without notice. "Got that!" Kyra calls back, skirting around the edge of the room, moving to the cage. She lets one hand drop away from her assault rifle, grabbing a flask off of one of her belts. "Stand back a second!" Kyra warns the prisoners before dumping the contents of flask along the length of the bars and the lock especially. It is, of course, a strong acid that Kyra made not long after their little jaunt into Odin, meant to completely /destroy/ various metals. She waits about a minute, which feels like forever during a firefight, before trying to knock the door/bars off with the butt of her hunting rifle.
Courier Six     OH BOY LOOT ROOMS:
If you're looking to break in to a room, George and Pavo are... well, sure to do the job. It's not /that/ difficult of a lock, so long as you have the tools and talent and Robust Hacking Abilities. Even if George gets a nice hefty dose of wall-current once. Or he would have if he didn't have his trusty spaceman gloves.

Inside though... you two have cracked into a motherlode of foodstuffs. Preserved and canned food of all sorts, there's working freezers, and most of all, over in a corner in a vending machine, there's the glow and shine and crystal goodness of a Nuka-Cola Victory, just sitting there behind glass and maybe 50 cents.
Courier Six     THE RANGER:

The Ranger looks... mighty thankful at the nanobandage, actually. Though he grumbles at the unnatural knitting of flesh. "Hnnnn well, thanks miss but I'm still stuck. I was sent down here to kill Motor Runner but I couldn't get down and past the locked doors below. Not with all the Assholes that wounded me hanfging around. But you seem to ahve gotten in okay."
He looks to the robogirls. "If you can get down and finish the jerk off, there's some cash in it for you. I mean, I can pay, if... uh. You don't let slip I messed up."
Starbound Flotilla     Seft has come upstairs too. "Query. Please explain: Motor Runner. Provide relevant data" She says, holstering her pistol. Albert gets here and grunts. "We need to kill any VIP targets to make clearing the rest of the facility tactically viable. I'm uninterested in money, only in your recon. Tell me what you know of the Fiends and their movements so that I can have my group clear the base swiftly."
Courier Six     HOSTAGES:

The lock on the door hissssssses and melts away, swinging open and letting the three people out and all start hugging Kyra. Well, the man and lady do. The Ghoul just saunters out and starts kicking the now Murdered In Thier Stupor Druggies. There's more scattered loot in this room, including some stuff like caps and stimpacks that the hostages scavenge out, knowing where they are. Kicking over one of the corpses will find a keycard marked 'OVERSEER' and also a Blue Star Cap.

There's doors downwards towards Engineering and Plant Level from this room. There's moore blood and graffitii that way too.
Rory White     "Sending only a few people in to deal with a fortified position and unknown defenses has a terrible chance of success. I cannot believe anyone would assign a mission like that.. so how could I blame you for it not going well?" Rory responds, smiling. A not exactly normal answer, but well... that's her!

"Right, Kotone? Well... I don't need money... but we are here to root out the Fiends and render the facility fit for use. Right about now the rest of the group should be --" Oh hey it's Seft!

    Blink.

"Also good things to ask! Thank you Seft."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa listens to the RAnger for the moment and nods a little bit.

"Sent to take out Motor Runner? So another big name Fiend humm?"

She thinks for a momemnt as he offerst the money nad shakes her head.

"I see, I think we can make sure Motor isn't an issue and to be honest you did a hell of a job suriving here Anders. This place is a death trap."

She looks to Seft for a moment.

"I Think we can handle making sure Motor Runner's down, right?"

She looks over to Rory for a moment.

<<THe major mentioned he'd lost people going after the Fiend's big wigs, seems this guy was skilled enough to surive and hide while he tried recover. I don't see an issue helping him out.>>

"You got ent into a meat grinder, as for the cash? Keep your caps the info you have will be enough payment."
Starbound Flotilla     Pavo and George manage to crack the door open, though George makes sure to trick Pavo into suffering a brief electrocution, because they're both kind of jerks. Food! Oh hey. And Nuka-Cola Victory. Pavo gets a SCHEME. First, sell all this foodstuff, which George is vacuuming up with his Matter Manipulator, and then second, break into this VENDING MACHINE and subsequently steal all the NUKA-COLA VICTORY. She does so using her deft hands and also smashing the glass open.

Because she knows a lot of tribals who will pay through the nose for THIS.
Noble Six     Noble Six tends to do what she can to police the corpses once the hostages are freed. She spots the star cap and the keycard. The card interests her more than the cap, but she grabs the cap anyway just to be safe.

"Where is the Overseer's office?" She asks, to really nobody at all. Of course these places don't have a map or anything like that, so she'll have to look for signage to lead her towards where the Overseer's office is.
Kyra Hyral     "Wah-!" Kyra squeaks as she's hugged by the released prisoners. "Ah, you're welcome, you're welcome." she says quickly, "Are you guys alright? Do you need healing? ....detox? Rad-X?" Yeah, Kyra does carry an emergency supply of Rad-X while out here! "You guys might want to hole up in here and hide while we clear out the rest of the Fiends here, alright?"
Starbound Flotilla     "Floran need to know! Where isss Fiend dog lady, fiend golf man, fiend motorsss?" Biteblade calls out to the hostages as she begins immediately diving into the loot. A few stray shots have made her need those stimpacks. Noble Six goes to grab that cap, but Biteblade grabs her wrist. "No!" She says. "Isss bad! Horrible quessst! No! Do not. You leave, never think of blue ssstar again, or bad robot cowboy."

If Biteblade can get any data on where any important Fiends are, or leads, she'll immediately book it that way. If she doesn't, well, she'll take a random exit, of course!
Courier Six     WELL. There's is that helpful sign to the OVERSEER'S OFFICE that lies up and over the top of the Recreation Area. Just the right sort of place to look down on your Vault from on high. There's also a grumble from Johnny and a matching happy noise from Veronica as they move down to the Engineering level. "Come on. I got a little bird what told me they're down here"

The Ranger has similar info. "He's got himself holed up down in Engineering. Him and half the crew! Though there's been a lot of noise about the Great Khans backing out of a deal, something about 'cutting ties' or something. Motor Runner's got people out trying to hunt those guys down. Good luck to them though, the Khans are tough as hell. I was at Bitter Springs. That... hnnn." He goes quiet at that. "Just get down there, would you?"
Courier Six     The Refugees have Similar Info.
The Fellow squawks. "Those guys? I mean, Violet hasn't been here in a week. Something about Motor Runner being a prick. I think he screwed her and then... well, a bad relationship but what do you expect from animals?"

The Lady points down where Johnny just went. "Motor Runner stays down there. I don't think anyone's gotten the Overseer's door to work. That key card hasn't gotten them in, that's for sure."
Orphen "Just let me know if you need anything unlocked, I've got a spell for that." Orphen asides to Veronica while continuing to follow her. "Though I have some trouble with deadbolts."
Souji Murasame Souji seems to have vanished somewhere along the line. Where the hell did he go? What is he doing?

WHERE DID HE COME FROM?

WHAT DOES HE WANT?

From the shadows of the Vault, there is a low utterance, a hiss of undiluted scorn and hatred. "Murasame. It is time to feed." The shadows alight crimson as a blade is drawn, the baleful light of crimson runes of hunger and despair etched into a black blade alighting the area. He moves quickly, beginning to stalk the halls of the Vault like a moving cataclysm as waves of crimson tear from the walls around him, shredding towards Fiend targets that he finds from all directions, cleaving through any Fiend he finds without pity or mercy. Those who cross his path will find the corpses lying there, their weapons and loot lying where it will, the corpses drained of blood.

The storm is no longer coming. The storm is here. And it will scour this dead earth clean.
Courier Six     POWER PLANT:

If there was any question of whether or not this place was still operational... well it's on its last legs. There's an inch of water on the floor in places, it's probably horribly irradiated, and there's blood and shit all over the place. Johnny and Veronica are already slowly working their way through the dregs of the defenders, and are waiting for the bulk of their contractors to arrive as well. Somewhere in the depths, there's a howling mad cheering and the sound of a high poweredchainsaw revving.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "Great Khans huh? Got it."

Still though if whoever these Khan's are backed out dealing with the Fiends? She had to wonder either way. She hears the mention of bitter springs nods and doesn't press. She guess it's one of those issues.

"Rory do what you can for Ranger Anders here. Seft come on we got Motor Runner to put off the road."

She turns to head out at this point and is cloaking again as she goes.
Starbound Flotilla     Downstairs!

Biteblade knows where to go now, especially with Albert relaying data. "Downstairsss!" Biteblade says, booking it! Albert, the exhausted Moonfin, and Seft also book it too, albeit less quickly.
Biteblade will tear their way through where the hostage indicated, nocking another arrow and preparing to catch anything that Murasame hasn't caught in his generalized clearing of the area, and meeting up with Johnny and Veronica. "Floran, here to help! Didn't eat chem flesh thisss time! Hasss proper Floran brain on right today. Johnny! Veronica! Have plan? Or jussst rush? Floran follow!"

Albert, Moonfin, and Seft come up behind. "They are already preparing. We have no time. Tallbranch, let's begin." He'l give everyone a digital beacon to head down here if they don't already have one, and unless Johnny and Veronica have something they need to stop the group from doing, they'll head on through the semi-flooded engineering sector, intending to go face down Motor Runner, with Biteblade leading the charge.
Noble Six     After getting stopped from picking up the star cap, Noble Six just takes the Overseer's office key. She's sure there's something there for them to loot, later. She's not interested in loot, and will probably hand it off to the Starbounders once she meets back up with them.

Speaking of meeting back up with them, she soon falls in behind Biteblade, and meets back up with Johnny and the others. She gets another ping on her HUD about radiation levels, but ignores it as she moves beind the group, "The last thing we want is to give them time to set up on their own turf. If we're going to move, it needs to be now."
Kyra Hyral     Kyra tries to snag a stimpack for herself before they're all taken. She doesn't need it right now, no, but she doesn't want to miss out on any loot.

Scrambling, she follows after Biteblade, falling in with Albert, Moonfin, and Seft. A frown crosses her face as that unpleasant feeling seems to grow worse to her, unknowingly due to Murasame.
Courier Six     THE HALLWAY:
The quick and engeineering minded among you would know that leaking water in a place like this is a bad thing. Any sort of major failure in the cooling or hydro systems would mean a breach of containment which would mean the Vault would have had to open which means...

    Oh. Well.

The Fiends don't give a shit though. What they do care about is that there's a bunch of dudes tearing them to pieces and they're trying to fall back towards what's marked as Hydro-station Workroom. Looks like some sort of major junction down here in the bowels of the place. Someone behind them is unhappy that they're falling back and a chainsaw WHIIIIIINES and Grrrnnnnnnches as it cuts through flesh.
Rory White     "The reasons humans fight each other and prey on each other are as varied as they are disheartening. I think that's the word!" She doesn't have a heart. She's not sure. Do they really hurt i you're upset enough about something?

Not that it's an appropriate thing to ask here.

"The others will do just fine... and you'll be fine too, provided we can get you out!" She pronounces to the Ranger.

But apart from that she shakes her head. "The Fiends outside have been largely eradicated. I estimate roughly 95% casualties. The few who were not slain fled and have not returned. It is... marginally safer in the region now?"

She's not sure the place out there can be called remotely 'safe.'
Souji Murasame There is a terrible sound as someone appeoaches in the hallway. Perhaps the Starbounders might be besides him, but Souji stares forward with an intense, unflincing gaze that promises nothing but death. His suit is torn, portions of it blackened and shredded, but the flesh beneath is sealed, covered in puckered scars. In his hand, the Murasame is bare, his weapon clear of its scabbard and pristine. There is a low rumble in the air surrounding him as he stares forward into the howling mass of terrified Fiends. They fight, scrounging to find some way to survive, to kill these foes, to spit in the face of their desctruction.

This is how rats fight when cornered. Another laser punches into Souji's arm, searing a bleeding wound across his flesh. He staggers in pain, and clenches his teeth, but he does not pause as he inverts his blade. The dripping blood from his arm falls into the water, staining it red. Souji intones, "Murasame Family Sword Arts..." He hisses. And then drives the blade downwards.

There weapon plunges into the water, the red blood instantly drawn towards the sword in streaks, funnelling itself towards the weapon and being absorbed.

Simultaneously, a black shadow rips through the ground, surging upwards in a rolling wave towards the chokepoint. From it, there is a terrifying, keening sound red claws erupt from the ground, shredding into the Fiend lines and tearing flesh, drawing out blood and staining the ground, life force being torn from bodies in a paroxysm of gluttonous, insatiable hunger. Any blood that strikes the ground flows back towards the blade, staining it for mere moments before the weapon greedily drinks it up.
Starbound Flotilla     Biteblade figures: What you don't spend hours standing around probably can't hurt you. Get in, get out, fast as you can. These guys did it, right? As they progress on, firing bolts at the retreating fiends, they're going to attempt to immediately breach the hydro-station. They're being teamkilled to preserve this? Biteblade is reminded of certain tribes they'd seen.

For now, the most important part is crashing into that station -- here's hoping that door isn't locked -- just behind retreating Fiends and tearing claws, and not even waiting once it clears; Biteblade will try to immediately locate Motor-Runner and bolt him through the heart with her Durasteel magnetic-induction bow. UNFORTUNATELY, this may be a bad idea. As it turns out, chainsaws are actually specifically designed to cut through plant matter.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is moving off now she trusts in Rory to get the ranger patched up she's got other things to hunt at this point however shes might be late to the party. Still she's got to move, she knows this is going to end in a lot of dead fiends. Honestly what else can they do? It's not like anyone on this world has the means to contain and is trying to make it to Motor-Runner.
Courier Six     The sword... is going to find a lot of blood in this place. It's practically soaking in it, bathed in it the essence of life bubbled down into the concrete and metal and water, a very dark place. If this were another time, another world, there would eb a grudge in this awful place. Instead, there is only blood and death and screaming and Fiends.

Johnny and Veroinica are heading up the vanguard along with Biteblade at least, soaking the water in more than enough blood for Souji to sustain that power, and Veronica and Biteblade will make it first to the Workroom. Or rather, the Throne Room. There's a huge guy in here, burly and beefy and carrying a chainsaw that's probably just as soaked in blood as the Murasame. It's certainly got the stains for it. There's also Fiends busy getting high for the last time, before they charge in at the group, trying one last ditch effort to throw off their attackers.

Motor-Runner, however, stands and chortles at it all. "Come to kick the king off the throne? NOT LIKELY. GET EM BOYS." Two massive dogs leap up from behind the Throne, aiming for Biteblade and Orphen, even as Motor-Runner himself lumbers off the throne, swinging the massive chainsaw at anything that moves. Mostly Souji and Veronica and Johnny.
Kyra Hyral     MEANWHILE...

Catching up with the rest is easy, but when they regroup and Biteblade is hard at work making Fiends not exist, something else catches her eye. Murasame is here doing his work against the druggies. This marks the first time she's seen the Murasame's power like...this. It's a little traumatic.

She recoils a little, hanging back from the group even further-and it's probably a good idea that she did. Once they reach the throne room, she immediately grabs the Cure-All off her back and levels it ahead of her. Calmly, she cranks the dial up to 'ludicrous high' and doesn't even wait for people to start getting injured by dogs or chainsaws. She fires, a white-colored sphere of healing energy arcing and landing amongst everyone before exploding, exactly like a grenade.
Starbound Flotilla     Biteblade is bitten before she can get that bolt off, sending it off skewed and slamming into a wall heavily. "Augh! Dogsss!" Biteblade has... A surprising idea, though. They can't do their usual strength-enhancing cannibalism on the human Fiends because the drugs saturating their flesh cause bad side effects. But they wouldn't waste their drugs on /dogs/! Biteblade lets the dog sink its teeth into her arm, even going so far as to let it tear the arm off if it can, but she IMMEDIATELY follows up with several brutal stabs at the dog's neck and head while it does so, intending to put it down instantly. After which...

While SUDDENLY SEFT is here at the doors, trying to shoot enemies away from Biteblade, keep the Floran covered and foes suppressed. She'll try to give Biteblade a little time to devour the dog's flesh, if Biteblade can actually land the kill, so Biteblade's CANNIBALISM POWER can at last be properly activated! Ideally she won't even have to regenerate her arm after this, with Kyra being so generous with the HEALS!
Courier Six     DOGS! DAGS! LASERS AND CHEWING. The first of the two dogs... really doesn't know what hits it, as it rips off Biteblade's arm triumphantly, starts gnawing on it a- And then finds itself being stabbed murdered and eaten.
No drugs, but it is a mutant dog. Gonna be some indigestion on this one, really. The flavour is rancid, but it'll do the job.
Seft's Pew Pew meanwhile finds its mark on another Fiend, and... the man evaporates into nothingness, just a black smudge on the far wall. Pooof, gone.
Noble Six     Dogs. And a madman with a chainsaw. Chainsaws would cut right through Noble Six's shields, though her armor should theoretically be able to hold up against it. Still she'd rather not try it. She charges in past the group being attacked by the dogs and looks to one of the other remaining Fiends.

She's out of shotgun shells, so she drops the shotgun, and pulls out the laser pistol she had picked up earier. It's not quite what she's used to, but a gun is a gun, right? She aims at the other Fiend and tries to double tap him in the chest, and then if she has time, get a shot or two off at Motor-Runner too.
Starbound Flotilla     Biteblade's eyes begin to glow a gentle green with the mutant dog's consumption. She groans gently with the difficulty of digestion, but swiftly devours the rest and stands dramatically. "Alright! You think, king? You think, sssafe on throne? Floran kick!" She twirls her remaining blade as the other arm swiftly regenerates, now bare of armor. "Let'sss do thisss, Motor Mouth!" She swipes at another Fiend while taking a bite out of the dog's carcass that she casts aside with one hand. "AND RESSST OF YOU! FIEND! GET FUCK OUT, IF WANT TO LIVE! TELL FIENDSSS, FLORAN BITEBLADE COME FOR HEADSSS!"

Finally, at last, having found a way to achieve a proper rush without losing herself to savagery, Biteblade will try to clear the rest of the Fiends away from her just enough to get a superior midrange encounter, letting the others deal with the close-range stuff; she picks up her durasteel bow again, nocks another arrow with three more ready between her fingers, and fires a rapid volley of four dense metal bolts intended to slam through his torso from the side, while he's busy with the melee fighting.
Courier Six     SPARTAN:

The chainsaw might not like the armor either, but at the point you're making enough of a nuisance that Motor might come over there anyways. The laser pistol, though, finds its mark, and while not as imporessive as Pew Pew, puts a number of very neat, very clean holes through a Fiend's chest, dropping the woman to the ground in a heap.
Souji Murasame The sword does not care. The blade drinks tainted, drug-riddled, diseased, and irradiated blood as greedily as pure. As the blood is absorbed into the blade, the wound on Souji's arm closes, leaving one more scar. Perhaps in time they will heal properly. Or perhaps his body is full of such scars. Is that why he always wears the suit? He launches forward, the blade fountaining sparks as it clashes with Motor-Runner's chainsaw. Souji is surprisingly strong for his frame. Is it physical discipline, or something else? He twists, suddenly dropping and spinning past Motor-Runner in a blatant defiance of physics as he cuts behind himself, the blade seeking out the man's Achilles' tendons before he drives the blade upward to cleave for his spine.
Courier Six     And if Motor-Runner was expecting anything less at this point, he hadn't been paying attention, nor had he taken the chance to flee before these monsters came for him in the dark, in his sanctum.
The Murasame meets chainsaw, and there's a clash and a gripping and binding and sparks, and the crazed leader grins down at Souji, something oddly cogent in those eyes. He's not doped to the gills. Not this man. "Maybe in another life, kiddo." And then he's driving forward, working to overpower the Student...

Until the rest of the room collapses on the fight. Biteblade's rail-arrows start it all, one slipping right through his chest and armor. He blinks at that, and staggers. He knows he's already dead now, but he's going to be damned if none of these-

There's a terrible, horrible crackling noise next to Souji, and a horrible purple light casts across the room. Johnny's Axe is out, the energy blade coming around. "SHOULDA COULDA RUN, ASSHOLE. DUCK, SOUJI." And as the swordsman makes his roll, the Protonic Axe comes around, perforating the Fiend's chest at that arrow point, slashing deep and cauterizing everything in the way.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa has been moving into the depths Vault at this point As she gets to the depths, Motor-Runner would be faving many things. Biteblade, Orphen, and ohters. The Dogs are not factored in to her plans as it seems they are handled. Given Souji, Veronica and johnny have fairly are also engaging Motor-Runner. She moves in she might be noticed, she might not, however if she can get thorugh she's going to try an weave her way in from behind and attack the Fiend leader from behind with a combat knife, given her fear of risking hitting her comrades with a missed burst from mer SMG.
Courier Six     And then there's a horrible silence in the room as Motor-Runner falls to his knees, Kotone's knife a punctuation mark in flesh as Souji's sword comes around and...

And then there's an awful gurgling bloody noise as the Fiend's head comes rolling forward off his corpse.

    Le Roi Es Mort.
Rory White     In the room, a tiny chihuaha sized saucer hovers up above the door, having snuck in silently and easily.

Elsewhere in the Vault, Rory just GRIMACES. "... at least none of US are seriously hurt..." by her standards, anyways.
Souji Murasame Souji ducks as ordered. He's not lacking in coherent thought like the doped-up deadheads around him. He had been focusing his aggression, his rage like a razor's edge to cut through anything in his path. And the man dying to a cooperative attack serves his terrible purpose as well as anything else.

He stands in the aftermath, the last traces of blood disappearing from his weapon. He looks at the pulsing runes with a studied detatchment, "You've fed well for now." He says, turning and sheathing the weapon.

The bloody work is finished. The chaos is over, and the Fiends have fallen. New Vegas is one step closer to peace. "Well done." Souji congratulates those present.
Courier Six     NEXT TIME, ON NEW VEGAS ADVENTURES

A gruesome trophy, Motor-Runner's head on a pike outside Camp McCarran. Boone's voice. "You don't make a statement like this without people noticing."

A panning shot of the Strip, with a brand new shiny Syndicate Field office near the Vault 21. "People start paying attention and weighing their options."

And the face of Vulpes Inculta making a sly entry into the Bounty Board. "Sooner or later, the world gets a good look at you, and you gonna know whether or not you're gonna blink."

NEXT TIME: WHAT LIES WE TELL
